i was skeptical too, but i've been playing metroid ever since the NES original came out. the controls take a little getting used to. you have the enemy lock, but you still have to aim. i don't like the way you call up the visors, and it does take a bit getting used to using your thumb to shoot. i would normally put the contoller on my leg and spazz out on the fire button with my index finger when i came to fighting bosses.
Hmmm... I'll stick with my plan of renting it to start. I also want to rent RE4, since I never finsihed it on the PS2.

Yeah, you get so used to dominating with pretty much any team on the PS2 versions, then you get a REAL basketball simulation where you have to pretty much play like you are playing in the streets is a lot to get used to. How are the controls? I held off on buying that one when I got my Wii because I'm somewhat skeptical about using the remote for a shooter.

I personally, love the controls for Corruption. Its much more near keyboard/mouse than any console shooter I have ever played.

Like I said though, its "near" not equivalent.

Otherwise, the game rocks. Im a little disappointed with the absence of verticality in the game, though. All previous Metroids had a much more robust world in terms of exploration. All the hidden platforms you couldnt reach or even see early in the games due to not having the proper equipment or knowledge of a certain mechanic.

Corruption plays much more like Doom than any Metroid we are all used to. But its still exceptional.

There won't be a demo per say - Valve is infamous for their "free weekends." They'll let you download the game and play it all weekend.

Honestly, hands down - TF2 will win for player base alone. As much as I want to enjoy ET:QW, I can't because it doesn't have the ET feel to is.

Do a google search for 2k8 sliders. Once realistic sliders are created, it should enhance your experience greatly.

Most important thing to do on All Star is to play lock-down D (L trigger) every single time on defense, or else the game will get out of hand. Try not to double team and don't sag off too much.

The only sliders I messed with were the foul sliders, which I increased a couple spaces to the right, especially the charge slider, which I increased to about 80. I also decreased the CPU's "dunks in traffic" slider to about 10-15. I'm tempted to lower the open shot sliders, but then I'd get lazy on defense.

I wasn't too into the Multiplayer of it but it was good....the story didn't strike me as that great. But, the gameplay to me was great, and you can see how its affecting (effecting...shit i confuse those lol) games now. For example. Drake's Fortune is going off the same targeting and cover system.

That is really what made it a great game for me, it was all about strategy and taking cover not just run in and shoot shit.

Yeah, but the only unlockable weapon that people actually used was a SPAS shotgun, so it wasn't too bad.

I took you advice and adjusted the sliders some (not ridiculously in my favor) but enough to just make it a little more fair, and I must say that along with the lockdown D thing really helped me out. Don't get me wrong, the first game I lost by 1 from a buzzer beater from Ray Allen. And the second game I got destroyed as usual, but the computer wasn;t hitting not nearly as many shots as they normally hit, and they were missing some layups. And on offense my team has started moving around and stuff now. It's just that I have a team who suck on offense. :lol So even though I still lost it was still fun this time around because the computer seemed at least human. :lol Thanks for the hints! :tu

The last FIFA game I played consistently was 2002 FIFA world Cup. Then that same year, I got Winning Eleven 6 for PS2....That was it! I've gotten every WE/PES installment since.

Unfortunately I heard that PES 2008 is delayed until Spring 2008 in North America. That's some bullshit! It's coming out later this month in Europe.

You need to find out if TW is limiting you to one IP per connection. If that's the case, and you are actually using a hub/switch then you got the wrong item. You'd need a router, and one that is NAT compatible at that - for the 360. Find out if you're limited to one IP, and we'll go from there.

Yeah, the only problem is I wish there was a 7 star difficulty.

I play on 6 stars right now, and I just wax the computer. It's barely a challenge. My current team is something like 25 wins 0 draws and 1 loss (to A.S. Roma :pctoss) on the season, and in the 26 games I've scored 112 goals. The past 10 games I'm averaging over 5 goals per game, closer to six, I think. And this is without a top flight striker, as I'm using Vucinic and Tevez/Bojinov as my front line at the moment, though all of them are definitely class and very competent.

With Rooney or Fernando Torres, I would probably have at least 15-20 more goals, as Rooney is absolutely unstoppable.

I will say I love my midfield play though. 2-4-4. C. Ronaldo and Ronaldinho (sp) on the wings with Robinho up front (who becomes an absolute class player, fastest in the game to my knowledge) and Mascherano as the DMF.

C. Ronaldo is simply unstoppable, I weaved through four defenders yesterday and pounded the side of the net with a left footed strike. Immense.

What is the model number of this "hub"?
I had the same issue years ago and it turns out like the above poster said, I had a hub/switch not a true router.

That should work fine just unplug your modem before hooking it up to it. If you read the reviews on it some guys says it work fine for him on Xbox while his wife surfs the net. Sounds like you.

I'm using Lebron James and my record is 7-14. I don;t know what the deal is, but Lebron gets tired really quick. And I noticed yesterday that after I fired my assistant coach he got a little more stamina. I'm going to try to give them days off verses having them practice every off day, and also sometimes instead of having an intense practice just a light shoot-a-round and see how that works. I haven't tried going online yet. One game I lost to the freakin celtics on a buzzer beater because I lost R. Allen, but I plaed them back to back, and the next game I completly destroyed them at home I was so pissed!

if you are using your wireless card there is actually a way to share that connection out and run a cable from your lan line slot to a router but its a pain to get running sometimes then you are still faced with the whole bandwidth issue

A 7600 is a mid-range card. Your graphics should probably be set to medium at 1024x768 or so.

It should be able to do the resolution of his monitor with shadows off and a few other settings at low. I have an x1700 in my laptop and I can play @ 1440x900 w/ all settings at High and 8x AF w/ 4x MSAA. I average around 40fps, very playable. A 7600 is a mid-range card. Your graphics should probably be set to medium at 1024x768 or so.
it runs the highest resolution i see in the settings perfectly fine with no slowdowns. i have a 22" Viewsonic HD panel and would prefer to run it in the native res. i was just surprised it wasn't even an option - i run quake wars in that res just fine with some stuff turned down.

For anyone that's interested, picked up orange box last night, basically comes with 5 games on one disc for the 360. Mainly interested in playing Half Life 2 and then episodes 1&2, started last night and the game looks and plays fantastic.

Played the first Half Life on the PC and have been waiting for this package to come out, very impressive. Also playing Bioshock currently, that is a game you HAVE to pick up if you like FPS, amazing game from top to bottom.

It should be able to do the resolution of his monitor with shadows off and a few other settings at low. I have an x1700 in my laptop and I can play @ 1440x900 w/ all settings at High and 8x AF w/ 4x MSAA. I average around 40fps, very playable. Yeah, you can crank the res and graphics on that. Sports games for PC aren't nearly as far along in real-time lighting and shadowing as their FPS counterparts, so it won't make the card scream as some other games will. Maybe turn soft-shadows off, if the game even offers them.

Sorry for the double post, but for what it's worth, several gaming review sites/magazines have dubbed "The Orange Box" the best deal (for the $) in videogaming history. You get 5 games and they are all by themselves rated in the general vicinity of a 9.0+, except for Half Life 2 which is a much higher 9.6, one of the highest rated games of all time.

For anyone planning on playing Skate and Tony Hawk Proving Ground. One word of advice, play Proving Ground first, because Skate ruined THPS for me. Tony Hawk needs to take a year off or something, because against Skate, it looks and plays like crap.

and I was pissed when I heard that TH sucked...I read the Gamespot reviews and I was upset....I was still going to rent it and see what was what...I havent really played skate but I had the demo....So I will take you up on your advice....Also that damn GH3 had me hooked and straning the shit out of my wrist last night playing with the controller....but mastering that Rock you Like a Hurricane joint was fun as fuck...I will really have to get this game...It was my first time playing this game ever....And I was hooked. I am also hooked on PGR 4 thats a fun and well illustrated game....

The Guitar Hero 3 demo was pretty fun, but they better hope they sell alot within that first month jump they have on Rock Band, because they'll be toast after that.

Rock Band with guitar, drums, mic = $169.99

GH3 seems to stick with the single songs again, but Rock Band has promised full albums from Metallic and others. I'll be getting both, but I couldn't see why someone wouldn't put up the extra $70.

Heh - that's a loaded question for me. I love it, it's just the right pace online, and there's a variety of weapons. You rank up in multiplayer, but not like it is in Halo3. You get experience points for kills/assists/stuff like that and those go towards your ranks - and you get new weapons and "perks" from the ranks.

There's also a Hardcore mode where there's no HUD, no perks ... it's you and the weapons on the screen, nothing more. Then there's also the prestige mode, which is only available at lvl 65 - highest you can get in multiplayer, and no one knows what it is yet.

Personally, it's going to be my MP game of choice for a long time - after playing the beta, I'm not a little CoD crack addict, needing more.

Also, OXM (official xbox magazine) gave the game a 10/10.
