That means very little in terms of who they actually voted for. For example, my mother and grandmother, diehard conservatives, actually were registered Democrats from 2006 to 2012 because they had to re-register as Democrats to vote in a primary for their friend from a charity club (Frank Madla) who unfortunately ended up losing to the other Democrat and then dying in a fire that Thanksgiving, 2006.
Examples like that are very, very common.Sounds very, very stupid so I doubt it's common at all.

Very true. Probably more people will die in fires on Thanksgiving this year than covid
Remember when TSA was giddy as fuck about Republicans closing the gap in early voting?
I brought up the point that they're essentially cannibalizing their own voter turnout on election day. Looks like that's what's happening.
Early voting ended up with a dem lead of just over 100k while dems ran just about even with them at 65% apiece.

Indies broke for Gillum by 10% in 2018 as well, that’s why I’m saying maybe the Rs have a turnout lead but it’s not the turnout lead they were expecting or needed.
Later afternoon voting hours traditionally favor Democrats in South Florida as well. We’re unlikely to see a GOP surge in FL between now and when polls close.

From what I've been reading in the buildup to today is that the expectation is a 57% to 43% advantage to (R) in popular vote (408-130 in electoral votes) tonight, what's been dubbed the Red Mirage.
But once vote by mail (VBM) ballots results start to get processed, we'll see a "blue shift" towards the expected (D) popular vote win + electoral votes changes.
One thing to keep an eye on is what those Red Mirage numbers look like towards the end of the day, and if they're over/under expectations.

It's not uniform, it varies state to state. for example, Florida will report all early votes within 30 minutes of polls closing and the e-Day vote will be lagging, not the early vote. Same in NC. But PA is the opposite.

And if PA is indeed the deciding state, like FL in 2000, if it's +/- 3 the Dems have no shot because 6-3 SCOTUS. They MIGHT get Justice Roberts if they're lucky but that's not enough.

People are getting robocalls telling them to 'stay safe and stay home'. The FBI is investigating.
The FBI is investigating the source of a barrage of robocalls that have urged prospective voters in recent weeks to stay at home because of unsubstantiated safety concerns, a senior Department of Homeland Security official said Tuesday.
The official, who asked to remain anonymous to candidly discuss ongoing election security issues, said the calls represented attempts at voter intimidation and suppression.
While the official said the FBI was reviewing the matter, he said the nature of the calls were similar to other intimidation tactics that emerge "in every election."
Overall, the DHS official said there have been no major disruptions, with technical glitches causing only temporary outages.
The Washington Post first reported that the calls have reached nearly all of the nation's area codes.

It looks as though Republicans will wind up with around a net +2 percent on party registration in Florida. That’s not terrible for them, and they reversed a slight Democratic disadvantage based on early and absentee voting. But it’s also not great. Based on the partisan splits in recent polls of Florida, I estimated that — because Biden is doing better among independents in most polls of the state and gets somewhat more crossover voters — the breakeven point for a Trump win was about R +3.5 in Florida. That is, if Republicans led in turnout by 3.5 points or more, Trump would be the favorite to win; otherwise Biden would be. We’ll probably end up just to the Biden side of the line. With that said, there’s a lot of uncertainty. Some polls in Florida showed Biden with big leaders among independents in Florida, while in others he was running evenly with Trump.

way too early to tell. florida was one of the states trump had to win to have a chance. he's doing well there though. Florida basically represented an opportunity for an early knockout blow if biden won it.

dade/broward vote almost all in. still a lot of panhandle counties to report which will go heavy trump. was a similar scenario in 2016 iirc
i'm following NYT. they show, as you are seeing, biden with a small lead with 78% in, but they're giving trump something like 95% chance to carry the state based on where we are still having votes reported from
