Peters just took the lead in the MI senate race. Hope it sticks.
The only votes left are in Dem heavy areas. He should hang on.
Senate races were still a disaster this year but if Peters lost and made it so they gained no net seats it would be a historic fuckup. Even in 2016 they managed to pick up 2 seats and they likely won’t even do that this year.
that's my point. you need to treat hispanic voting block same as you treat white voting block, diverse, with different ideologies, etc. When democraps start doing that they might start getting somewhere
Then all the other logical arguments as to why Trump is fucking terrible should have persuaded them. You don't have a point here.

REAKING: Trump campaign says Trump will immediately request a recount in Wisconsin
“Despite ridiculous public polling used as a voter suppression tactic, Wisconsin has been a razor thin race as we always knew that it would be," Bill Stepien, Trump 2020 campaign manager says in a statement.
"There have been reports of irregularities in several Wisconsin counties which raise serious doubts about the validity of the results. The President is well within the threshold to request a recount and we will immediately do so

Dems will be fine in 2024 if they run a good candidate. If they run Biden or Kamala they’re toast as a party and the senate seats they lose are the least of their concerns.
2022 will be tough, but the wildcard will be if Republicans can keep all the Trumptards who never voted prior to 2016 showing up even if Trump isn’t on the ticket or politically relevant. If the GOP loses those voters because no politician other than Trump is able to energize them, I think the Dems can pick up seats in the senate.
Mark Kelly running again in 2022 for a full term is going to be a brutal race. Other than that, the only incumbents they have in losable states are popular senators in Nevada and New Hampshire.

In hindsight some of Schumer’s senate picks this time sucked. McGrath’s race was $100 million of wasted money, and Schumer backed Cunningham over a very charismatic black candidate who would have driven turnout in NC’s northeastern rural black counties that were awful this year.

But, what states do that actually matter?
FL is pretty much red at this point, but that's Cubans
AZ? This has trended blue BECAUSE of the Hispanic %.
NV? This has also trended from purple to blue over the past decade-plus.
NM? This has been a solid blue state for a long time with one exception in 2004.
Nullify the TX "demographic shift" effect? Keeping TX red long term instead?
California? Not a chance.
Colorado? The Democrats have made it a blue state there the past decade-plus because of all the white hippie pot heads, not Hispanics.

If you’re wondering how exactly a “blue shift” in Pennsylvania could be significant enough (https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/why-pennsylvanias-vote-count-could-change-after-election-night/) for Biden to overcome Trump’s 8-point lead there, consider this small batch of votes that just came in from Allegheny County (Pittsburgh). About 4,700 new votes were reported there, and Biden won nearly 80 percent of them. It’s important for readers to understand that a lot of the outstanding mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania are not only from populous Democratic-leaning areas, but are also going to be even more Democratic than those areas on the whole because Democrats were far more likely to vote by mail. While there are some outstanding votes from more rural GOP areas, it’s the large number of strongly Democratic mail-in ballots that could boost Biden enough to overtake Trump. Will that happen? We’ll have to wait and see.

Pennsylvania needs to get the lionshare of those ballots counted before Nevada releases its results tomorrow. AP sticking to their guns with the Biden call.
The AP called the race at 2:50 a.m. EST Wednesday, after an analysis of ballots cast statewide concluded there were not enough outstanding to allow Trump to catch up.
With 80% of the expected vote counted, Biden was ahead by 5 percentage points, with a roughly 130,000-vote lead over Trump with about 2.6 million ballots counted. The remaining ballots left to be counted, including mail-in votes in Maricopa County, where Biden performed strongly, were not enough for Trump to catch up to the former vice president.
Many of the gains have been driven by the shifting politics of Maricopa County, which is home to Phoenix and its suburbs. That’s where Biden sealed his victory. Maricopa County accounts for 60% of the state’s vote, and Biden ran up huge margins there.

Not that the candidate they run in 2024 really matters if the Dems run Joe Biden or Kamala Harris, both of which will get crushed.

Is it the shy Trump voter the polls screwed up on or just not accounting for how much more turnout Trump would get from rural America? Probably both, but worth noting the one swing state polls seem to have gotten right was AZ, the state with only a very small rural white vote. I have no idea but I’m pretty annoyed I donated money to senate races that never had a prayer.

Why do you think Biden or Harris will be crushed by GOP candidate?
Because if not for COVID, we’d be talking about how Biden/Harris got crushed by Trump right now. The Dems aren’t going to get anything done the next 4 years because they don’t have a senate majority, so Biden and Harris won’t have any kind of a track record to run on as an incumbent. The only way the Dems won in 2024 is with an unorthodox candidate who promises something very different from the Democratic platform of “say we’re going to do stuff then cry about it when McConnell gets in our way.”

Nothing. Betting odds aren't a reflection of real world odds. Bookmakers will shift them to get an even amount on both sides. There's probably gamblers taking a cheeky flyer on Trump or betting on Trump to hedge, so it's a win/win for them in case something improbable happens.

Same. I donated to Dems in SC and Kentucky...might as well have lit the money on fire

In contrast... if Trump had won this time, any Democratic candidate with a pulse would have won in 2024, correct?
Who knows. I don’t think Democrats realize how much they’re losing working class voters. If they’re running candidates like Biden they’re not winning working class voters back no matter how bad the economy might be in 2024.
I was thinking DeSantis too earlier, but who do they have who would be as good manipulating the media as Trump is? Trump may be lazy and an ignoramus but he knows how to push peoples' buttons and he gets the media coverage he wants. He has been a master using the media since way before he got into politics.
I think it'd be very difficult to duplicate a Trump-type candidate - he would have to have money to back/fund all the lawsuits that Trump has thrown at him. Trump had a lot of unique marketing/management skills, background and money - doesn't have to worry about life after/future in politics.

When remaining states are expected to be called (https://theweek.com/speedreads/947905/when-remaining-states-are-expected-called)
Arizona — Expect a call some time on Wednesday (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/04/us/politics/election-results-day-2.html).
Georgia — The final count could be finished (https://www.ajc.com/politics/live-updates-what-the-ajcs-politics-team-is-watching-in-georgia/MCYDKE7DQFGERJFDFYGG3VGZYQ/) later on Wednesday, Trump is leading, but Biden may get a boost from the outstanding votes.
Michigan — Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/live-blog/2020-10-08/election-night-in-the-u-s#5FA2D7F1B2240000?sref=a2d7LMhq) Wednesday that tens of thousands of ballots need to be counted, but an unofficial result could be reached by the end of the day.
Nevada accepting (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/04/us/politics/election-results-day-2.html) mail ballots postmarked by Election Day through Nov. 10, so the final outcome may not be known for more than a week. Biden leads narrowly.
North Carolina — Mail-in ballots will arrive (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/04/us/politics/election-results-day-2.html) through Nov. 12.
Pennsylvania — State lection officials began counting ballots again Wednesday morning, and Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar said (https://twitter.com/ABCNewsLive/status/1324029570664800256) there are "millions" left. Officials expect (https://fivethirtyeight.com/live-blog/2020-election-results-coverage/) the tally to wrap up Friday.
Wisconsin — All votes are counted (https://twitter.com/ChrisDJackson/status/1324027105982763011) with Biden reportedly ahead by about 20,000, but the Trump campaign is planning to request (https://theweek.com/speedreads/947898/trump-campaign-vows-request-recount-wisconsin) a recount as soon as the 10-day moratorium is up.

Pima: 89% reported, Biden 60.1%, Trump 38.4% (Clinton won this with 53.3%) - probably net Biden a few thousand
Pinal: 90% reported, Trump 55.9%, Biden 42.5% (Trump won this with 56.2% in 2016) probably net Trump a few thousand
Cochise: 76% reported, Trump 57.4%, Biden 40.7% (Trump won this with 56.2% in 2016) - probably net Trump a few thousand

The truth is who the fuck knows. WI is called for Biden. MI probably goes Biden. NV who knows. AZ has been called for Biden by the AP and one other outlet (forget which), but Republicans in the state claim they'll win it and Silver's news about republican registrations in the late mail-in vote should give the GOP a sliver of hope of maybe pulling it off. NC is pretty unlikely to flip, Trump probably has it. GA who knows? Not a whole lot of votes to count and Trump has a decent lead but the votes left are thought to be very very blue. PA who knows? None of us knows who will be president at the end of January.

You have to have an actual legal reason to have the Supreme Court review any election issue. You can't just say something looks funny and you think it is fraud and have the Supreme Court somehow investigate. I do not doubt there could be lawsuits at some point, but I think the margins are going to be wide enough that Trump can't make up the difference, even if he gets recounts in the battleground states and even if he were to be able to prove some kind of fraud. The disparity of votes so far is too great to think any fraud could swing the election. You can't do 100,000 fraudulent votes and not be caught.
