In addition, the constitutional safe harbor for certification of poll returns is 35 days after election day. The election isn't over until votes are counted and certified. Six days after that, the EC votes.

Fucking mayates are why Biden got the nomination. God damn Massa Clyburne. Still, Trump shitting on relations with Cuba looks like an enormous factor. Can't ignore a +14 turn to the GOP in the area that fucked Biden.
I had Florida going to Trump since Biden basically told the local supporters not to canvass. This coming from a guy that spent half his campaign in the freezer.
There's going to be a bunch of these self-inflicted wounds along the way.

One thing to keep in mind about Pennsylvania is that the mail votes were VERY blue there — Democrats led 66 percent to 23 percent on them by party registration (https://electproject.github.io/Early-Vote-2020G/PA.html). So although Trump’s lead is larger there than in Wisconsin or Michigan, Biden should also get a stronger blue shift there.

One county in the key swing state of Pennsylvania has already found itself involved in a legal challenge, following claims that it violated the state's election code by pre-canvassing mail-in ballots prior to Election Day.
A federal judge ruled that Montgomery County Board of Election officials need to stop contacting voters who did not submit their ballots correctly, though it is yet to be determined what will happen to ballots that were opened early and changed, as reported by the Bucks County Courier Times on Tuesday. Ballots that were modified must be kept separate from the rest of the group until further notice.
A hearing on the issue is scheduled to take place on Wednesday.
The county has been accused of not only starting the pre-canvassing process early – which is against the law – but also giving voters who did not submit their ballots correctly the opportunity to “re-vote,” according to the complaint. That includes people who may have forgotten to sign or place their ballot in the “secrecy envelope,” which are necessary steps in order for their votes to be counted.

Not at all, it's all acoording to state laws. All 50 states count in person votes after electon day and something like 18 accept and count absentee ballots after election day.
In addition, the constitutional safe harbor for certification of poll returns is 35 days after election day. The election isn't over until votes are counted and certified. Six days after that, the EC votes.

I really don’t understand how you can submit ballots AFTER Election Day Face with tears of joy mind as well call it election week thenThat's because you don't understand how elections work.
All 50 states count votes after the polls close until they're all counted (which can take days and weeks), 18 of them accept and tally absentee ballots that arrive after election day.
States have 35 days after election day to certify the results, and the US President isn't elected until six days after that.

Barry carried that shit twice with black voters. Nobody showed up for old Joe today.
Silly to compare any candidate to Obama who was the first black candidate for president and who had insane popularity among African Americans that will likely never be duplicated even by another black candidate. I know Hillary did about as well as a standard Democrat with blacks in 16.
Really more than anything last two elections make Obama look better considering he won 365 and 332 electoral college votes. Dude won Iowa twice even.

The Repugs could drag out the contests past the 28 Dec deadline, disenfranchising entire states, which is when the states must submit their EC votes. 6 Jan is when Congress tallies the votes.
The Repugs have been trying to get some Repug-controlled states to select "faithless electors" who would vote for Trump if Biden won the state.

Biden may take Wisconsin and Michigan but will lose Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Biden wins if he can hold on to Nevada. I think Nevada eventually goes to Trump and Michigan goes to Biden. That will leave Biden at 260.
Also, it appears the senate remains in control of the GOP. That means if Biden pulls it off he will not be able to court pack nor will he be able to push a left agenda. Biden who has always been center left may actually be relieved in that if he wins he will not be faced with the burden of supporting some of the extreme left ideas.

3rd/4th generation Latino descent here. The dumbass misconception Dems have is that the "hispanic vote" is monolithic and that they have a kind of La Raza solidarity with each other or some shit. My parents, uncles, cousins, and such are about as removed from "hispanic culture" as you could be. I don't speak a lick of Spanish and never been to Meeheeco. One of the primary grievances of older hispanics, who are maybe 2nd or 3rd generation, is that their ancestors came here legally and "did it the right way," while they see new generations of hispanic immigrants have carte blanche in that regard. It's a misguided point-of-view, because many boomer hispanics don't understand that when their parents immigrated, all you had to do was take a test. Now the process is a lot more byzantine and expensive.
Many hispanics are also in law enforcement and have served in the military, which usually attract right leaning personalities.

Democrats also need to give up on this idea that they can convert Republicans. Trump won like 94% of Republicans. The 50 million dollars Democratic donors gave to the Lincoln Project could have gone to a much better cause, and Biden spent way too much time trying to appeal to conservatives vs trying to turn out the base. It should be abundantly clear now that running a moderate and thinking he’s going to build this wide coalition of voters from both sides is a total wetdream.

So what’s happening? Is Cocaine Mitch still running the country?
Trump's night went off just as he planned, except that John McCain's ghost is fucking him over in AZ which looks like it will decide the election now that MI and WI seem to be tilting back to Biden
Moscow Mitch is probably ecstatic that he can go back to doing what he does best - obstructing a Dem president

I'm so sick of us nominating these fucking milquetoasts who excite no one. But the Democrats won't learn. Rahm Emanuel will still go out there and say these fuckers win and the completely out of touch party elites will nod their heads in agreement. Whether or not Biden squeaks by with 270 this election is a punch to the nuts of the Democrat base.

In addition to immigration, I think the Dems need to agree to disagree on social issues. It makes no sense to have a one-size-fits-all policy on guns, feminism and other social issues. What works in California won't work in the midwest. They need to adapt like the Republicans have - R candidates in Blue states are strongly anti-Trump while the Red-state Rs can't wait to suck him off
Yeah agreed on this. Dems need to stop making pro choice a required stance for all of their candidates. They need to start running pro gun and pro life populist senate candidates in red states the way Republicans run candidates like Larry Hogan and Charlie Baker in blue states

The hispanic base still majorly breaks for Dems, but Hispanic-Americans do have their own form of "hick." Here in California, the hispanics I know who like Trump are fully Americanized, but he appeals to them through his immigration stance and "tell it like it is" bluster, which I guess we can call machismo, but it's more similar to how hick voters describe what they like about Trump. That "he's real and doesn't hold back."
I'd say the Cubans are probably more attracted to the "machismo" idea.
Honestly this is not the full story I have a Hispanic relative from Central America and she and all her friends from all over the region are very well educated and most went red as they come from countries with socialistic or dictator type rule and believe in having as much autonomy and individual freedom as possible. This is in a blue state but they all vote red. They are not anti-immigrant but very anti-illegal immigrant.

especially for hispanics that dont even know what socialism means, like yourself
Its a dumb label to ever embrace in the US and gains nothing tbh. Especially since many immigrants ran from here from governments calling themselves socialist all through the 20th century. Vietnamese immigrants still trend way redder than other Asian groups for the same reason as Cubans

The fact the socialist label clearly worked in scaring people away from Biden just shows the Republicans are always going be able to convince 40% of the country that the Democrat is a socialist, even when he’s clearly not. The Democrats need to stop moving to the right in an attempt to combat right wing feat mongering about socialism.

I would prefer someone just run on Bernie’s platform without self labeling as a socialist and when people call him a socialist say “If you want to call me a socialist for providing universal healthcare and better safety nets for Americans fine but I’d rather talk about policy than labels”

This is a big attempt to try and pretend it wouldnt have worked even better on Bernie or other progressives plus he would have lost the gains with old people Biden made (exit polls show him losing them by 2 points which is the best showing since 1996). Hard to hold other things constant and just assume they will stay the same then just pick up numbers in one group. Just avoid the label. FDR was virulently anti-socialist in his retoric due to its toxicity then and he passed a broad leftwing agenda. Same with LBJ who started a world war almost to wipe out what people considered socialism.

I would have lived to see a debate between bernie and trump to see what happens. My money would be on bernie.

Gotta think Harris getting the VP nod turned off a lot of latinos too. But that might be the only thing that saves them in Michigan. Doesn't look like it's going to in PA. Man the Democrats are so fucked. This election was a fucking wide-open layup with Trump crashing this nation the last eight months and best case now is one of the most narrow electoral wins we'll have seen.
They really fucked up not putting Castro (for lack of a better name Latino of relevance) into a major speaking DNC role. Tons of people on the left called out they needed to throw hispanics a bone. Instead of letting AOC rally up the bernie bros who never mattered anyways. Hindsight i guess

I don't see where the Democrats go after tonight. Even if Biden wins who the hell do they run in 2024 and not get massacred? Harris won't stand a chance if Trump or Uday runs and the Democratic bench is horrible. The Democrats are like the Lakers if you took away LeBron and AD.

I’m definitely not for a candidate calling himself a socialist the way Bernie did, I’m saying Dems shouldn’t let it dictate their policy agenda. Bernie also start embracing the woke shit way too much in 2020 vs. 2016, if there’s one thing moderates and progressives can agree on after this election it’s that we really need to back off the woke shit. The days of Elizabeth Warren spending a full 2 minute debate response talking about how she’d give transgender inmates free sex change surgery need to be over.

Bernie was very smart for ignoring identity politics but I'm not sure about the next-gen progressives. That video of AOC lecturing her white boyfriend about how all the ways of his white privilege is cringeworthy as fuck and undoubtedly not the way to go.

To be fair people said that about the GOP after 2008 and look what happened.
Prob ripe for another cult of personality that comes up and says the right empty shit to resonate with all the empty people.

Bernie ignored identity politics in 2016 but he fell into the trap in 2020. Imo it was one of the reasons why his primary performance dropped off.
