Because Biden does not have total control over the economy thus inflation.
The world is bigger than Biden or Trump. Supply chains are one issue that must be discussed.
Just because you dont like it, dont pretend it is not a factor.

Lmao the political divide of the 80s is incomparable to the present day divide. The left didn't openly hate white people in the 80s.

Nobody called everyone a rapist. That's leftist propaganda. It's also leftist propaganda to blur the lines between illegals and immigrants.

President Trump had it tighter than a nun's snootch on the Sabbath using that Yogi scribe as a price guarantee..."Fine, MBS, I'll back your play and in return you'll keep gas less than $2.30 a gallon/U.S.. Deal?"

"Si."

MF Biden comes in, rattling his saber over Yogi & MBS hit's the roof.

I didn't make hay about inflation. Quote it.

What's appalling is that we handed over trillions to the supposed "makers" or "job creators", but now the same people that defended that are bitching how people run away from jobs without a livable wage.

And we have these "makers" back to using that money to buy their own stock, which really puts front and center where their priorities lie.

Much rather we put money on Main street's pockets than Wall street. But, that generates demand, and it takes time to ramp up supply.

For the most part, people who voted for Biden don't give a fuck about him. They don't give a fuck about Brandon or even know who he is. But the Trumpers do remember what got said about Trump. It's reflected in their try hard rhetoric...repeated attempts to make Democrats get deep in their feels about Biden being senile, weird or whatever. Yeah, we know all that.:lol That's the difference. You won't admit Trump is just is also just some empty headed celebrity that decided one day to be President

So in the end, no one cares. All that matters is your orange hero lost. Not only did he lose, he lost to a guy that's barely conscious enough to be alive much less be President.

- The hillbillies weren't unarmed. They had bear mace and various blunt force objects the used to attack police.

Also the FBI brought the foot soldiers to justice. The fact you and 90% of the GOP want to pillow smother an investigation into who organized and financed 1/6 is the point.

If this was just a bunch of angry MAGAboomers and there was no planning ahead of time, Trump and Steve Bannon wouldn't be fighting tooth and nail against a subpoena right now, and the GOP wouldn't be fighting so hard to stop an investigation.

Turn it on the Sunday morning programs from those networks, and they are gonna be mentioning Trump, Steve Bannon etc. But I mainly talking about the cable networks like CNN and MSNBC who would apparently shrivel up and die if Trump didn't give them more material.

Steve Bannon being held in contempt for not cooperating with a congressional commission is news, I'm sorry if you don't want to hear it. I can't speak to the Sunday news programs but I doubt they have some weekly Trump segment they're trying to fill. Feel free to give examples of specific non-news stories they covered about Trump.

Not sure why CNN and MSNBC qualify as mainstream media but not FOX News, which draws more viewers than both of them combined. Nobody should watch any of that garbage anyway. 24 hour news is a cancer.

Absolutely. And it's not pretend. It's the facts, Will.

& he won that nomination not for what Ailes gave him, but what the aforementioned (((MSNBC and CNN))) did...they played it fair & square in the stern belief that he had nary chance at winning. "We'll be as impartial as we can be...he doesn't stand 1 chance in Hell of winning. Then when gets buried we can say with a clear mind that we were impartial."

Manchin voted with Trump like 63% of the time. He's more of a Republican in a very red state, so not sure why anyone is surprised by any of this.

I think if all we get is new roads/bridges etc, it's a win for Democrats. Something is better than nothing at this point.

Never claimed to be surprised, but if this guys a is a Republican, then he needs to be on that party. These marriages by convenience are no different than the purported RINOs on the GOP.

If we're being frank here, when it comes to put your vote where your mouth is, all these fake rebels in Paul, Cruz, etc, they all fold very neatly for Mitch. That doesn't happen with Democrats. It's an unforced mistake.

Besides the obvious clicks, Trump is simply a menace to democracy in this country. The day he's either in jail or simply not have 30% of the electorate in his pocket, he'll stop being news.

Right now, nobody else on the GOP can touch him when it comes to popularity among their base. That's why he is the GOP these days.

Failure to pass infrastructure/reconciliation and another wave of COVID could derail Dem majorities in Congress, Biden's re-election chances, and his underwhelming vax-dependent COVID strategy.

The GOP knows this and cynically continues to obstruct spending and play defense for SARS-CoV-2.

We test this proposition for the US over the period 1978 to September 2021 and show that consumer expectations about future economic trends are highly predictive of economic downturns 6-18 months ahead, thus providing an early-warning system for the economy (Blanchflower and Bryson 2021a).

Table 1 The Conference Board expectations data in the eight biggest US states, 2007 and 2021

https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/00-recession-1024x165.jpg
The first row of the table shows the drop in The Conference Board expectations data in the eight biggest states from the spring peak in 2007 to December 2007, the date called by the NBER Business Cycle Dating Committee as the start of the Great Recession.

The second row reports the falls in 2021 from the spring peaks to September 2021.

These aren’t the only data flashing red. The US PMI New Orders data are also trending down as Figure 1 shows for four consumer facing sectors.

Figure 1 US PMI new orders, September 2018 – September 2021
https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/00-recession-2-1024x655.jpg

So, what is going on? The answer appears to lie in the exceptional nature of the COVID-19-induced shock to the economy. It has been both an economic shock and a health shock, and one with the potential to derail the economy again over the coming months. In spite of improvements in traditional labour market indicators, declining consumer expectations about the future of the economy are likely linked to COVID-19-related fears and anxieties.

This is borne out by a recent The Conference Board survey indicating that 42% of workers are worried about returning to the workplace for fear of contracting COVID-19, a substantial increase from June 2021 when only 24% expressed this concern (The Conference Board 2021).

The increased level of anxiety among workers is potentially justified because, as we showed in a recent study analysing the US Census Bureau’s Household Pulse Survey, workers were substantially more likely to contract COVID-19 than non-workers, despite having a higher probability of being vaccinated (Blanchflower and Bryson 2021d). Being at work or commuting to it increases the risk of infection. Such concerns have been exacerbated by the appearance of the Delta variant of the virus.

Rising anxiety and worry are not confined to workers. Evidence from the US Census Bureau’s bi-weekly Household Pulse Surveys suggests a consistent increase in anxiety and worry since June 2021.

We suspect that fears linked to COVID-19 will continue to affect the real economy and consumer expectations about an imminent economic downturn. This is a bold call not consistent with consensus; only time will tell if we are right. However, equivalent falls in these data in 2007 were an early indicator of recession, missed at the time by policymakers and economists.

It is possible that these data are giving a false steer. However, missing the declines in these variables in 2007 proved fatal. It is our hope such mistakes will not be repeated this time around. These qualitative data trends need to be taken seriously.

Biden will be fine. You cannot expect someone to come in to office in the midst of a pandemic with the nation basically shut down and have stellar results. People are going to have to sacrifice to recover, it's inevitable, but Americans don't believe they fall into the "normally" category. Americans are special, there'll be no sacrificing. Let someone else do that.

1. Afghanistan pull out was a disaster and I am not talking about ending war I am talking about how it was done - We still giving Millions of dollars to a terrorist just so they don’t kill Americans left behind
2. Gas prices are at a all time high which is impacting poor, and the middle class the hardest
3. Inflation is at a all time high impacting poor and middle class the hardest
4. We have also pissed off our allies by not telling them how and when we were leaving Afghanistan

I could go on and on and why does he never answer questions from the press he walks away after every press event
5. Pissed off France by not telling them submarine deal with Australia so bad they recalled their Ambassador

U.S. military says it killed al-Qaida leader in drone strike
Army Maj. John Rigsbee, a spokesperson for U.S. Central Command, said in a statement that Abdul Hamid al-Matar was killed.

The U.S. military said it killed a senior al-Qaida leader in an airstrike Friday in northwest Syria.

Army Maj. John Rigsbee, a spokesperson for U.S. Central Command, said in a statement that Abdul Hamid al-Matar was killed by a drone strike.

Rigsbee said the killing of al-Matar will disrupt al-Qaida's “ability to further plot and carry out global attacks threatening U.S. citizens, our partners, and innocent civilians." He said al-Qaida “uses Syria as a base for threats reaching into Syria, Iraq and beyond.”

The drone strike came two days after a U.S. military outpost in southern Syria was hit by a coordinated attack that included drones and rockets. U.S. officials said no American troops stationed there were injured or killed.

Why would I need to remove my glasses?

There's a large backlog for goods and services. It's a wave that's catching up with us that began last year when everything shutdown. If we could shut the entire world down that long and things move along just the same, that would be weird. What we have now is expected. Pretty sure people in the "stan" were told months ago to get the fuck out and they didn't. There were some issues, no doubt, but it's not like Joe took office and said "you know, I think I'll drop a surprise exit on the troops in Afghanistan." This was planned. Could have been smoother, but people knew to get out.

We didn't seem to give a shit about our allies the last 4 years.

Inflation was coming regardless

Gas prices are a result of oil prices. It's actually good that oil prices are higher.

No one cares about France.

The border was a clusterfuck years ago, this is why cages were built. The wall wasn't so popular with the right because of how "in control" the border was.

Gotta give this guy a chance.

Brandon made a lot of fuckups so far and there's plenty to criticize, but so far they're fuckups I can live with.

I voted for Joe for two reasons:
1) Orangegutan thirst for staying in power started to look like a cheap banana republic dictator. At some point it became clear he was a sore loser and there was no low that was too low, including destroying democracy if that's what it took.
2) His downplaying of a pandemic the world knew was serious business and the dismal response that followed cost unnecessary American lives. It was so fucking terrible it cost him his presidency.

I don't have to worry about Brandon on 1). He might end up being a one termer, but if he doesn't die first, he'll go retire in Delaware when his term is up, and that'll be that.
And as far as 2) I think he's done a good job on the pandemic so far. Vaccine rollout was good, nobody had to pay a dime for it, and looking at your list I don't see any complains either, tbh.

I really didn't have any other problem with Trump. I wouldn't have voted for him, but I probably wouldn't have voted against him either if 1) and 2) weren't there.

I also find it hilarious to hear trumptard complain about "pissing off our allies" when Trump basically told our allies to go fuck themselves and start paying for their own military. Never have our relationships with allies been more strained than with the previous administration and 'America first' policies.
But, again, besides the hypocrisy, I'm also with DMC, fuck France. If you don't like it, fuck it, make a better product.

Americans are stupid.

What has Biden done or failed to do which justifies such low ratings?

He is just not a good leader I think he has given the least amount of press briefings then the last 3 Presidents by a wide margin. So much is going on in our country and the world I think people want to hear where we stand and what is he going to do for certain problems. The majority of people care about jobs and the economy that is always the driving force on which party maintains power or looses power and right now it’s not looking good for him nor us

I think Trump fucked up by talking too much, too much ego and me me me. Biden is going about his business. I don't need to hear from him often.

More specifically, what does he need to do to right the ship?

He's like Dirk, good second banana that needs a prime Jason Terry or prime Peja next to him to get anything done, tbh...

lol kidding.

I mentioned this a long time ago, the whole 'negotiating' thing was never going to work in this environment. He needs to pass his shit, and he continues to fumble.

About this time in his term, Obama was getting Obamacare lined up. Trump was getting ready his tax cuts. Those ended up being their signature legislation.

Brandon is still fighting to get a infrastructure bill across, and he already bent the knee three times, more or less.

This. It's a good change of pace and back to normalcy. Tired of hysteric politician having to comment on everything from Goya foods to the latest social media tantrum.

Prez addresses the nation when there's something actually important to communicate. Otherwise works. For the day to day media fodder there's the prez secretary.

Well, he is getting killed with independents right now. And we know those are the difference makers in a divided country.

And since he ran as a moderate, I personally think he should act like one and stop chiding moderates like Sinema and finally stand up to the crazies within his own party. He's terrified of those squad brawds.

In any event, just pass something already even if it is slimmed down considerably. Trump not getting the softball infrastructure deal done was a big loss that Brandon can't afford to take.

Neat. That does nothing to address my point. He ran on an agenda of multi-trillion dollar climate change reform/safety net expansion.

The fact he used vague rhetoric that maybe came off as moderate doesn't change what his tangible agenda was.

Yes and no. I'm guessing you for example managed to figure out that Biden wasn't a moderate despite the media's narrative. Biden got a lot of never-Trump Republicans to endorse him which definitely got a lot of focus but he wasn't shy about sharing his tax and spend agenda since he needed to get progressive enthusiasm as well.

Truth be told people saw old white dude from Delaware and assumed moderate. Voters are just lazy.

Sure but they voted for his agenda.

Similarly, all the retards who voted for Trump due to his vague populist rhetoric about bringing manufacturing jobs back to the US, whether they like it or not, voted for Trump's agenda of repeal Obamacare + tax cuts for the rich + nothing else.

He should've passed just the infrastructure, easy win. Then a series of smaller bills to address the other shit. Dumb idea to try and get it all done with one "transformative" vote given the small margins they have in congress.

Completely disagree. He doesn't have enough to stand up to anybody, plus the 'crazies' are not that crazy, they've been so far always supporting what he proposed, including the severely trimmed down versions of his proposals.

The fact is Sinema and Manchin are acting like Republicans, and that's really what they are. This really hasn't been a negotiation, it's been a hostage situation.

He's getting killed by all sides, and even if he passes something, anything outside of what he proposed, he's going to get killed. If it's not independents, then half of his base.

I pointed it out in another thread, they miscalculated this thing mightily, and now it's too late to go back.

Reaganomics directed income up the economic ladder. And since wealthy households have a lower propensity to spend than working-class ones, this regressive macroeconomic policy depressed consumer demand and businesses investment. Low demand begat low supply. Republican economic orthodoxy does not offer high growth at the cost of inequality but inequality at the cost of low growth. In truth, it is the right — not the left — that wishes to subordinate the pursuit of abundance to its peculiar conception of class justice.
