To do otherwise is dangerous when it comes to public safety. And it is especially unconscionable in the aftermath of three deadly aircraft accidents in the past month.

First of all, I don't think it would be Elon doing the actual audit. And, secondly, as we're learning - DOGE only makes recommendations for actions, it is up to the agency administrator and the President to enact what DOGE recommends. For instance, the Secretary of State is making decisions on what USAID programs will be maintained and which will be cut. Same with EPA, Treasury, Education, etc...

And, given the transparency of his actions and the "watchdogging" of his detractors, I doubt DOGE will be able to slip anything past you, Winehole. Y'all are scrutinizing every move DOGE makes. As it should be.

The audacity of this claim would be almost comical if it weren’t so dangerous. As Cathy Gellis just pointed out (https://www.techdirt.com/2025/02/18/in-a-monday-night-declaration-the-white-house-admits-musk-and-doge-violated-the-cfaa-although-they-might-not-realize-it/?preview=true) a little while ago, this declaration actually makes their potential Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) violations worse, but that’s almost beside the point given the sheer brazenness of the lie.

Let’s go through some of the receipts.

Their go-to move when they don’t get what they want? Threatening to call their boss. And who might that boss be? Well:

In fact, given this declaration, shouldn’t security officials be asking DOGE staff who actually has the authority to override their security protocols? (Good luck getting an answer to that one.)

But of course, everyone knows exactly who’s really in charge. And Musk hasn’t exactly been subtle about it. I mean, when Elon gave his White House briefing last week, he spoke so much about DOGE and what he was doing via DOGE that the Elon fanboy account “Elon Clips” listed out 17 “DOGE actions” that Elon discussed. And then Elon retweeted it.

Looking at their "Subsidy Tracker," from which I'm assuming this graph originates, Tesla does, indeed, appear on there a lot. I haven't done the math so, it may well add up to $2.5 billion. The operative words in your graph are "INCLUDES ALL GRANTS AND TAX CREDITS." Also, you'll note the word "FEDERAL" conspicuously absent from the graph.

I tried to download the spreadsheet to do a more thorough analysis but, "Good Jobs First" wants money for that.

Anyway, take a look. The most recent large sum is a $330 Million tax abatement, given by the State of Arizona, for Tesla to expand their Gigafactory with a $3.6 Billion capital investment. You can disagree with tax abatements, I know I sometimes do but, it's not a subsidy. And, in this case, it's not a federal subsidy. All of the federal monies I came across were for loans and/or grants and tax credits or rebates -- something we all have access to, provided we meet the criteria for the loan, grant, credit or rebate. Tesla paid back all federal loans (early and with interest) and, well, grants go through an application process. I don't find any federal subsidies in the website for Tesla.

SpaceX Crew Dragon 9 went to the ISS in September for the expressed purpose of retrieving the 2 astronauts.
They've stayed because NASA, for some reason, nixed the plan - after SpaceX Crew Dragon 9 launched.
SpaceX Crew Dragon 9 is hanging out because it makes no sense to come back without the two people it went there to get.
SpaceX Crew Dragon 10 is still launching in March and will replace SpaceX Crew Dragon 9 at the dock.
The Soyuz is still there and hanging out for emergencies.
There was no reason the SpaceX Crew Dragon 9 couldn't have returned with Williams and Wilmore last September.
