The above is so flawed...

This reminds me of a mega preacher complex, John Hagee like.

Self absorbed without a hint of true self-examination. It is rare you find a poster that puts out as many disingenuous arguments as Lumpkins. I would say this borders on intellectual narcissism.

Amazing stuff.

Yours in humbleness,
Kurt Godel

I can talk about set theory as well. Funny that you invoke Godel. The set required to prove the constancy of the relationships between numbers is infinite; an infinite set can never be complete. There is an analogue in the infinitesimal. Number theory interests me. FWIW, a Japanese mathematician claims to have solved the theorems that Godel's work was supposed to show insovency for.

HERE (http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=proof-claimed-for-deep-connection-between-prime-numbers) is an interesting article about it.

If you are going to try and make the preacher comparison then at least get the argument right. The argument is about false humility. Preacher espouses humility, and rails the lack of it in others but at the same time displays no humility. Hypocrisy, that is the narrative. Hypocrisy holds a lot of weight in the judeochristian value. Examination of other and no examination of self. You have most of the tenants there but your regurgitation is misapplied. Read my post and try again with something that does apply.

I do not claim humility. To the contrary, I admit it right from the get go my arrogance. That isn't 'true self-examination?'

I am definitely arrogant. I think I have reason to be. I understand multivariable calculus, PDEs, topology, stochastics, and harmonic analysis. Most people have difficulty beyond simple algebra and I have no issues in the highest of mathematics.

Simple logical proofs like application of laws or obvious causality are obvious.

I think the issue that people have is that I treat them with little respect. We have been posting here for a long time. By we I mean the ones that I am going back and forth with. Half of them are about two people that post on multiple accounts. Most of the reason why I give little respect though is because I see a methodology based on bias rather and logic and ideology as opposed to empiricism. And when people are intentionally misleading then I am hostile.

When I see it, I point it out and when people condescend me then I return it right back in kind.

All of that being said, I will admit when I am wrong. For example, elbamba was right and I was wrong as regards to self defense and presumption in the state of FL. There are all kinds of times I have been incorrect. That being said, I am not going to be persuaded by emotional appeal, bluster, or simpleminded bullshit. If that makes me an asshole then so be it.

The relationship between socioeconomics and education is well established empirically. If you don't believe me then I will be more than happy to link a multitude of scholarly works that outline how this is so. Hell, they teach it in every economics class that has ever been.

Take note of the above. That is how to articulate what you mean and why you mean it. I would be more than happy to walk you through some exercises that would help you with this skill. You clearly lack it.

You're an inarticulate ideologist. I can demonstrate this by once again pointing out your inability to articulate a supporting argument once again and the flippant comment about a Cadillac.

No it is not.

You are a narcissistic blowhard.

Godel was convinced he was going to be poisoned and a theist. He starved himself. Smart man? Because he thinks deeply about basic logic?
I don't think so. So because you are interested in math this precludes you from preconceived notions and neurotic behavior?

Sure thing.

Basic idea remains the same for incompleteness. Different fundamental logic for different problems. Not very satisfying. But what is...

Where am I being bombastic? I don't see it. Condescending and pedantic no doubt but it just comes across to me that you are asshurt and trying to ape me. I get a lot of it to the point youre cliche even in this thread by itself. Try harder.

That Godel was paranoid is not mutually exclusive to his takes on set theory. Its like me saying the sky is blue and then you going no the ocean is blue! Baseless psychobabble doesn't change that. Whatever.

As for the differences in fundamental logic I think you are mistaking the path to a conclusion with the fundaments of logic. Most of the issue I see there is just linguistic and not insurmountable. Really though you are just dissembling for the topic like many others here are.

I don't know why you are reposting valid arguments.

Zimmerman said that he would try and get back up and Martin would slam his head back down. He said that this went on for awhile. The ME said that his wounds were not consistent with that.

Do you think his account is truthful?

Words are symbols. If you are claiming that you have induced some truth outside of perception that you cannot make a word for then I laugh at you. I have a word for it: bullshit.

And now you are making claims as to what I thought on this subject from the beginning or what evidence I have looked at etc. I mean if you had said something and I just ignored it then that would be one thing. This tact you are taking just tells me you are mad and lashing out at me. Your tears are delicious. Really if you are upset then may I suggest you look for more productive outlets?

As I pointed out before I was wrong on the issue of presumption once a basis for self defense was established. That does not fit my narrative from before but I was wrong. In the face of that your whining just doesn't hold up.

In the post I quoted perhaps you point at where I flatter myself. I made on observation about what I said was wrong. Hardly flattering. To the contrary, I was debasing myself, something which you claimed I would not do. Now you are dissembling. It seems that is all you do.

I am sorry that my arrogance makes you insecure. Your need to deflate me is laughable.

Psychobabble is just a term for what people do that try and apply psychological principles without basis. You brought up paranoid delusions and neurosis in a comparison of me. The shoe fit for obvious reasons.

:lol Fox? Sorry that my diction makes you insecure. Your flaling away is amusing.

Your assertion that something cannot be described symbolically is bullshit. All one needs do is make a new word for the 'complex idea.' Just because you cannot find the words for complex ideas does not mean that others cannot. All that says is you have difficulty with complex ideas.

On a final note, the allusion to a keyboard was supposed to be symbolic of your asshurtedness. Of course I have no idea what you are typing on. Your response does have the effect of reinforcing my point though. Thanks.

You know you have a classic thread when math education smack is brought up.

O'Mara is right in that this case is reversed; the state is the one throwing things out there to try to bust up the defense's account. "Here's what it really sounds like happened" type of things. The prosecution is heavy on emotion. Funny that O'Mara said that early on when he talked about the underbelly of being a defense lawyer. Something like "We're the ones who are supposed to do that."

Having said that, and even though reasonable doubt is stamped all over this, a manslaughter verdict from this all female jury wouldn't surprise me. They don't know what the sentence will be on that.

This is a solid take that I basically agree with. While I came into the trial thinking that Zimmerman was surely guilty, the weak case presented by the prosecution, coupled with a masterful job by the defense (particularly O'mara), means I would certainly vote to acquit.

While I still think Zimmerman should be euthanized, I just don't see how he's guilty of 2/murder or even manslaughter. But, as you said, I think the latter charge is entirely possible.

All I really wanna see now is an acquittal, followed by brown people burning their own dilapidated neighborhoods. Makes for good TV, especially on a slow sports weekend

Dershowitz: Zimmerman Prosecutors 'Should Be Disbarred'
Friday, 12 Jul 2013 06:22 PM
By Bill Hoffmann

Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz says the prosecutors in the George Zimmerman murder trial should be charged with "prosecutorial misconduct" for suggesting the defendant planned the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin.

"That is something no prosecutor should be allowed to get away with … to make up a story from whole cloth," Dershowitz told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"These prosecutors should be disbarred. They have acted absolutely irresponsibly in an utterly un-American fashion."

Zimmerman, a 29-year-old neighborhood watch volunteer, is charged with gunning down Martin, 17, as the two fought following a confrontation in the gated Sanford, Fla., community where Zimmerman lives — an act the defendant said was in self-defense.

In the prosecution's final argument on Friday, lawyer John Guy said Zimmerman deliberately followed Martin and "shot him because he wanted to."

Dershowitz called Guy's statement "such speculation. How does he get into the mind of Zimmerman? He hasn't cross-examined him, he hasn't met him.

"To ask the jury to believe that is to ask the jury to convict based on complete and utter speculation and that's not the way the law operates."

A day earlier, prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda said Zimmerman — whom he labeled a "wannabe cop" — "followed" and "tracked" Martin after profiling him as a criminal.

Dershowitz said not only should Zimmerman have not been charged with second-degree murder, but prosecutors should not have pushed to have manslaughter and child abuse added to the list of possible jury verdicts.

"[It's] utterly irresponsible. … The idea that the prosecution can try the case on a murder theory and then, at the last minute, substitute manslaughter, even though it seems to be permitted generally under Florida law — it's a big mistake to allow it in a case like this,” he said.

"And then the very idea of even suggesting child abuse in a case like this is so irresponsible."

Dershowitz praised the closing argument of defense lawyer Mark O'Mara.

"He did the right thing by being methodical and factual because this is a case where the prosecution's case is all emotion and the defense case is all factual," the famed civil-rights lawyer said.

"Emotionally, obviously everybody can identify with a young, unarmed 17-year-old who ends up dead, and emotionally, as President [Barack] Obama said, he's all of our children."

Dershowitz — whose clients have included Claus von Bulow, Mike Tyson, Patricia Hearst, and former televangelist Jim Bakker — said the case has "reasonable doubt" written all over it.

"Nobody knows who started the initial physical encounter, who threw the first blow — and if you don't know that you have to have a reasonable doubt," he said.

"Nobody knows for sure who screamed, 'Help me, help me.' You have to have a reasonable doubt about that. Nobody knows for sure who was on top and who was on bottom, though the overwhelming forensic evidence suggests that Zimmerman was on the bottom having his head banged by a younger, stronger man. You have to have reasonable doubt there."

for you non Travonz Trolls, if given the power to invoke any sentence regardless of current Florida laws.......

What would you give George Zimmerman?
Any time whatsoever?
I think his motive was good. He was trying to help stop the burglaries and home invasions in the hood, and was frustrated at the govt court systems-law enforcements failure to do so.
Traybonz 4 minutes to split is very telling.
I think GZ is genuinely sad he shot Martin, and not just because he got *caught*.
Had they just duked it out, i would hope they could have met 4 years from now and agreed they both were wrong. Maybe sooner. Maybe the next week. Maybe the next day.

Traybonz has no doubt been influenced by cowardly rap dumbfuck along with gangsta glorification. I think he probablyl did buy the mixins for sizzrup or whatever DumbF rapper calls that drink mixed with codeine. But i can't say 100%. Maybe he just likes Skittles and iced tea at midnight in the rain.

GZ is older and thus bears more responsibility imo to have been the one to take the pressure out of the situation as it developed.

I'd give GZ a year with access to classes.

Not just the 4 minutes that O'Meara focused on, but the 45 minutes that elapsed between the time Martin left the 7-11 till the time GZ first spotted him. 45 minutes to walk 0.8 miles? What was he doing all that time, standing in the rain? Could he have spent most of that time casing houses at the development before Zimmermman spotted him? We know he was caught with jewelry and a burglary tool at school. If these women jurors have any guts at all, if they're not afraid for their safety, they'll decide Zimmerman had to shoot TM to save his life and they'll come back with not guilty on all counts.

Zimmerman is a wannabe police officer who took the law into his own hands. He had decided Martin was one of the criminals who had been victimizing his neighborhood, then he trailed him against the advice of police dispatchers

Simple logical proofs like application of laws or obvious causality are obvious.

I am an actor. I am famous actor therefore I have a greater understanding of human nature. When I get into character, my empathy is so profound I can understand action and emotions on a deeper level than the common man, most of whom were unable to perform in the kindergarten play. Because of my ability to empathize, and the fact I have played both a 17 year old black male, as well as a fat gun toting wannabe cop, I can better understand what both were thinking at the time.

"He couldn't stop crying. He's a caring human being," Joe Oliver, 53, a former television news reporter and anchor in Orlando who has known Zimmerman for several years, told Reuters in a telephone interview.

"I mean, he took a man's life and he has no idea what to do about it. He's extremely remorseful about it," Oliver said, relating stories told to him by Zimmerman's mother-in-law, a close friend of Oliver's wife.

Oliver's account counters the withering criticism Zimmerman has sustained from demonstrators across the country who have demanded his arrest and accused him of racial bias in targeting Martin. Celebrities have taken up the cause of justice for Trayvon, and President Barack Obama said "all of us have to do some soul-searching" as a result of the tragedy.

"I'm a black male and all that I know is that George has never given me any reason whatsoever to believe he has anything against people of color," Oliver said

Lmao, someone please show me some proof that Zimmerman ever used the N word. Called him a fucking punk and said they always get away. Never once said anything about race.

There was reasonable doubt about how the events transpired. It's not illegal to follow someone, and it's not illegal to shoot someone out of self-defense. Take it up with the way our justice system is set up...if there is any reasonable doubt at all, you can't convict someone. Innocent until proven guilty.

Only reason this case got to this point was because people portrayed it as a racist act and portrayed Martin as a completely innocent kid who did nothing wrong. WE DON'T KNOW HOW THE PHYSICAL CONFRONTATION STARTED. If there was proof, Zimmerman would be in jail right now, plain and simple.

just Livid Lumpkins...

You again reinforce my point. You wanted to portray your superiority in reasoning as it applies to law.
Yet you continuously illustrate a disingenuous penchant in your arguments and suppositions.

You and I both know this. And I know you know exactly what you are doing.

"Prove Chavez has violated human rights, give me the evidence." Evidence given and your reaction is but the US...
When the US was not what was being argued. And you have such a cavalier attitude, you continually argue in this same simplistic, disingenuous way... Totally disregarding the fact you have been layed naked yet knowing you have. It's pathological. Maybe I need to take ALL your childish reactions to getting called out and list them.

But I won't. I am officially bored.

Later Lump. Post again. You will crave the last word.

You really going with the posting ultimatum? Drama queen much?

So far we have gone through psychobabble, linguistics, epistemology, Tom Cruise, etc all in your effort to make some point. When you are shown to be full of shit then you just try something else. Now I get the last word? I certainly hope so. Perhaps that will mean you have taken your own advice and gotten over me.

Race was the only reason Zimmerman followed Martin. It was the only reason Zimmerman was "afraid."

Never mind the fact that if a black/hispanic guy had wrongfully accosted and then killed a white little boy, he'd be getting the needle right this second. It was always a race thing. The only reason the case was talked about was because some were hoping for jury-declared open season on black males.

We should have been unified in wanting the agitator put away, but no. The kid he killed was black, so it's all fun and games.

The prosecution lawyers aren't dumb, they're actually quite good despite BDLR yelling all the time, and they didn't make any real mistakes. They just didn't have any facts to pin a crime, any crime, on Zimmerman. They had to go emotional. O'Mara called this the bizarro case, and this proves it again; usually the longer the jury is out the better for the client. Not here. There was no way they were going to convict Z this quickly.

The fact of the matter is this: Z's account is probably, basically, what happened. Holes in it? Of course. But never anything, at all, to say that he set out to shoot Martin until the moment that he did. For goodness sake, when the white cop's son (the chief's son I think?) got drunk and left a bar and beat up a black homeless guy Zimmerman went around putting flyers on people's cars about it, including black churches. How many people would do that? Did Sharpton show up for that, LOL. I was glad to see O'Mara hammer the media people at the very end of his Q&A, which quickly ended the session, basically saying "you were fed this BS story and you ran with it."

Jacob1983

You expected a child to think outside a self imposed pseudo box in order to skirt a question?

Its simple enough, most people would have done exactly what Zimmerman did if he was on the bottom and indeed feared for his life. All one then has to say is the evidence did not illustrate this was the situation Zimmerman found himself in. It's not that difficult.

This was the crux of the charges, period. And also why it was going to be so tough on the prosecution. Some people pretend like they have a hard time with this narrow picture. I do experience frustration with this narrow reading, but that's tough luck when considering the specific charges.

Doubt that. A civil suit against Zim would be a no holds barred affair. Unlike the trial just ended, the defense could bring up all the stealing, drugging, and fighting that Martin was involved in. What is more likely is that the Zimmerman Team will go on a lawsuit enacting frenzy themselves. I imagine NBC will be the first target what with their claim that Zim said "coon" in the 911 call. I think I read a couple of weeks ago that Zimmerman has already filed suit against NBC for the tape edit stuff, and that O'Mara is listed as a co-councel, and that the main guy is a friend of his. It seems like O'Mara will be involved in all legal matters with this from here on. Which means we may get to see a Crump vs. O'Mara civil battle. And you thought that this trial was emotion vs. facts....

West said that there were no winners here. Not true, O'Mara is the big winner. He's the new Johnny Cochran. Even if you hate Zimmerman you have to admit that O'Mara is just flat out good. West was good enough as well, but too much of a wild card with an angry streak. O'Mara is brilliant and unflappable.
