Bulls have only MLE and it's 5.3M. How will they offer 6.5M contract without Sign&Trade.

Are they planning to amnesty Boozer?

Proposed is a big word on this tweet. Both teams still have to agree on it. If it falls through this time, this shit is back to square one. Saw a lot propose stuff never materialize this week.

I think it's apparent that Pau would rather be in Chicago.. that's why this deal is being pressured so much. Otherwise, he would easily join SA for the MLE... so in my mind if these trades fail, Chicago would either amnesty Boozer to give Pau more money, or Pau would just sign the MLE for Chicago..

It's silly if he's ringchasing anyway (he has rings already, I don't know his motivation for picking a team right now post-Lakers exactly). I mean, putting the Spurs aside, OKC would've been a better move than Chicago. Yeah, yeah, I get the whole "The West is a competitive mess!" which means the East is more up in the air, but that whole West being a competitive mess also means that if you've got any brain cells to rub together you're probably going to choose whoever comes out of the West as the favorite.

Especially with the age of the Miami Heat over now. The East has gotten more spread out competitive but less skilled at the top if you get what I'm trying to say. Melo's staying in New York and I doubt Cleveland gets K-Love, I really don't see an Eastern team as deadly to the West as the Miami Heat were at their peak. So yeah, the East may be more open, but that consequently means that most likely all you're competing for in the east is the Eastern Conference Championship and a six game loss in the Finals.

I mean, yeah the Bulls are nice, the Heat are okay, the Pacers might be okay, and the Cavs have LeBron now (consider how long it'll take for everything to come together for them), etc., etc., but does anyone really feel like any of those teams could beat the Spurs, OKC, or even teams like the Warriors, the Rockets, or Clippers in a seven game series? I sure as fuck don't think so. If you're ringchasing the whole concept of avoiding the West because it's more crowded and competitive doesn't necessarily hold true. I get that it makes the path to the Finals conveniently smoother but so what, the power structure right now makes it so you're the equivalent of those Jason Kidd New Jersey Nets in the 2000s. You made it to the Finals, big whoop, time to get destroyed. The Miami Heat superteam at their peak were the ones who could actually deal severe body blows to elite Western teams in a Finals situation.
Basically Pau's going fucking nowhere.

If all of this is true, while it will help CHI on the court (especially if they are willing to bring over Mirotic) lol giving up picks supposedly. We will see if it was worth it. Gasol has his money, Lakers get their picks.

If this goes down and CHI gives up their pick(s) and the doesn't use their MLE, it will be incredibly dumb. Now, both LA (not that it matters) and CHI are hard capped at 81M for the year as well.

I know Pau isn't coming to the team but where's the official announcement that he's going to the Bulls?
There isn't one just yet, they're still working out the details of the sign and trade but Woj is saying its almost done.

I know its not necessarily their style or maybe it happened behind closed doors, but I kind of wished Pop, RC, and the players made more of a pitch to Gasol. Its nice to feel appreciated and hear more from a team if they want to recruit you especially if you're taking almost 25% of your last contract to play for them.

Outside of drafting and trading for players, we basically have to hold players' families on ransom in order for them to play for the team. We have all the championship pedigree, coaching honor, and inviting style of play any pro-basketball player can hope for but because they don't play in a glitzy environment, they're not cool enough to play for.

I'm sure the Spurs are capable of working plan B and C simultaneously to plan A. I'm equally sure RC knew it was a longshot to get Pau.

I'm still not sure how the money works out if there's no trade, so if all the other information is true, I'd say that the Spurs aren't dead yet unless there's nobody near Gasol with a calculator.

My bad, I meant MPG. I did look it up though because I was unaware of that. But Duncan only led in total due to injuries to Parker, Green, and Kawhi. He played more games than them. Thing is, we've never repeated and it seems like we've always stood pat in offseasons after winning a title. We have a bullseye on our backs now. The Warriors will be better, Okc will still be Okc, Grizzlies are better, and the Rockets keep trying to make moves all while the Cavs are likely to get Love.
Kyle Anderson looks pretty damn good, and another year of experience for Leonard, Splitter, Mills, Diaw, and Baynes is a plus. Gasol used the Spurs as leverage, but he did it to get himself less money, which pretty much proves he never seriously entertained the idea of going to them.

As many of us said, Gasol to Chicago makes by far the most sense..they offer him much more than the Spurs could, tbh..

Getting touches/having a big role is a huge priority for him..

:lolPeople, do you ever learn? I mean seriously. It's the Spurs/OKC and then everyone else. No other team is a threat. Not even close. It was the Clips, then Golden state, then Rockets/Blazers this past season, they're pretenders. All of them. Just chill the fuck out. We got Ayres. You can't teach his kind of hustle.

We better be on the phone with Baynes and Bonner right now. lol Let's get them back and then find a team to take Errors.

Any team that can take Errors off the Spurs hands is icing on the cake for this offseason.

Bron took 2 years because the cap is going to be higher in 2016. Max money will be greater then than now. He's committed long-term to the Cavs. He'll retire there. He wouldn't dare leave again.

Thought maybe they were showcasing Ayres for a potential trade when he started the game last night.

Then he st an illegal screen in the first minute and fumbled two passes out of bounds. Any provisional second round picks out there?

Being reported that there is no sign and trade. So it looks like the Spurs lost him for the same exact money they had to offer (unless they somehow had more money that we aren't seeing). Chalk it up to San Antonio unfortunately.

We were talking about that a few pages back. With the Illinois state tax, that means he took less to play for the Bulls.

While no other team improved (yet), Spurs arguably got worse. While they brought everyone back, not only have they not added anyone else, but lost Patty for 7 months with no guarantee he will be effective this year. Spurs may be ok, but it's not a stretch to say Spurs are slightly worse so far (off season is not over though).

Will it matter? We will see.

I thought the Bulls could go $6.5[?] million and the Spurs could only go $5.3 million.

I think the value in someone like Ayres versus Gasol is the willingness to just ride the bench when you aren't needed. He understands he's paid to just come in garbage time. Bonner is the same. You're ready when your name is called. Someone like Gasol, even on a MLE expects a certain amount of playing time and that comes with being a former #1 pick and first option. Most guys in the NBA aren't wired like Duncan or Ginobili who don't care about stats/playing time.

That being said, even on a vet minimum, you would think the Spurs could find a hidden gem or someone with more potential to replaced Ayres. Give someone like Daye/Baynes priority in garbage time because he might actually amount to something one day but obviously Pop always elects to go with the veteran that knows the system in Bonner.

Even though that is being reported unless there is something we are missing (some random trade exception, ect..) they should only have the mid-level. Unless they are dumping players/amnesty of Boozer.

The West didn't really get any better, the Spurs re-signed Diaw and Patty, Duncan opted in, and they still have the MLE. Great off season so far!

Could Duncan have opted out and signed a 2 year deal for less $$ to have available for PGaso?

My sources tell me that he will play out his two years with the Cavs then commit to football as WR for the Cleveland Browns.

Arguably is right. Half a season without Mills gives Joseph and Anderson a lot of time to run the point, and means Cotton may be traveling back and forth from Austin. Baynes should be ready to step into the rotation for Bonner and Ayres, and again, Splitter and Leonard and Green are still improving. This is all a week in to free agency where we haven't even seen the Spurs negotiating with anyone yet.

I'm unsure how it's not obvious to everyone that he never intended to go to San Antonio. He took LESS MONEY to play for the Bulls. It's not like the role the Spurs had for him changed in the last week.
