Pau Gasol, a step away from playing for the Bulls

The Marca newspaper announces that Pau Gasol found the way out of the free agent labyrinth amongst many juicy options that made him one of the most sought after free agents in the NBA on this frenetic July.

Finally, the power forward will almost surely continue his career with the Bulls.

Pau has the deal almost closed with Chicago, and he would like to do the physical before returning to Barcelona in the next few days.

The deal is pending on another operation, a 'sign and trade' with the Lakers, even though Pau rejected the initial offer from the Lakers to re-new, that would even allow Pau to increase the amount of money of his signing.

Even though he thought the process would be easier and quicker, the oldest of the Gasol brothers has taken his time to decide, but the Lebron news, who's heading back to Cleveland, and the imminent announcement from Carmelo Anthony, who is likely to re-new with the Knicks, has accelerated his decision, which is almost taken.

Thunder and Spurs also wanted him, but Gasol was seduced with the Bull's project.

Yep. This is my only fear. It would make absolutely no sense for any team to take on Nash's contract for picks, since said team wouldn't get the benefit of unloading a multiyear contract for Nash's expiring. Nash will retire after next season, so I can't fathom any team giving up picks for him.

But these GMs have proven to be morons in the past, so it'll probably happen.

I'm glad we didn't get Pau. I want to see Kyle Anderson actually get to play this year, and if Gasol had joined this roster, there wouldn't have even been a spot for him. Plus, Pau is washed up anyways. He shoots way too many jump shots and 3's and has steadily regressed since 2010. The last couple years for him have been brutal. There's a reason the Lakers were constantly looking to trade him. Everyone seems to conveniently forget that once he's a free agent. But the Lakers couldn't get jack shit for him.

The woj post only states what we all already knew, they are working on a deal. For all we know that means looking at other trade options with LA, or finding a third team for Nash, as little sense as that makes.

As far as Tspence, if it is 100% chance that he goes to the Spurs, why would he still be dealing with the Bulls??

The problem isn't being great or not, the problem is being straight up garbage. I'll take Bonner over Boozer in our team right now, simply because Bonner at least knows enough of the system not to fuck up too much, and likely would be cheaper.

The thing is, Bonner started in the WCF... there will always be some high pressure minutes for our 4th big, due to matchups or foul trouble, etc.

Bulls currently have more than $66 mil in committed payroll; MLE to Pau would put them at about $71.6 million. BAE to Mirotic at $74 mil.

The Spurs do not need this guy to win another championship guys calm the fuck down and relax. If they get him its nice luxury but is by no means crucial.
