I would be curious to understand what legal recourse the team has if they opt to keep Leonard this year and he insists on sitting out again.

The more I think about it, the more I believe it is time to end the Kawhi era. When are we ever going to have the chance to rebuild so quickly without having to go into dark ages 2.0? Seems correct to me, somewhere I read rumors that Lauvergne plans to opt out and play in Europe next season. But, I don't think he was yet. I would like to see Bertans back, but not Bryn, and of course would love to see Rudy signing long term with us.

Also, Jabari wrote an article where he claimed that Pau might be on the trading block, and since we kept our drafts picks, I am not sure how we trade him.

Yeah but we traded Sean ****** so I think we can retire Tony. The biggest difference is that you can tell Tony is done just doesn’t have the speed anymore while if u keep Manu 10 minutes a game he can still be a productive player. Also our young PG need playing time Murray and White they need major minutes no playing time restrictions.

There's nobody out there as a SF that stands out who can be signed for the MLE, and if they want to sign Milutinov then probably nobody who would sign for whatever mle was left over. And who would sign with Kawhi and his situation hanging over things. If Kawhi and the Spurs make up, that free agent's playing time goes to zero.

But I could see a scenario where Milutinov and Hanga could both be had together for the MLE, maybe even with enough room to give a three year minimum to Metu.

I might be in denial but I am assuming like you that Kawhi will be back. If he isn't back, I'll go through a period of adjustment and probably some mourning, but I have consistently heard RC and the Spurs say he's not up for trade and that they would rather keep him. If I am in denial, the Spurs FO is encouraging it.

I am still concerned about his injury and the precedent established this aeason, but I really don't care if he doesn't have a leadership personality for example.

One is Russell Westbrook and the other IMO DeMarcus Cousins. I think if both of these guys, if they played for Pop and were willing to listen and be coached by him, I think would take their games to their max levels IMO.

before the injury Cousins was the best bigmen of the season, he and Davis were starting to create chemistry, if he returns without sequels, he and Davis are going to destroy some teams next season (although I'm sure some people in st prefer Pau Gasol)

The San Antonio Spurs reportedly have their sights set on LeBron James, according to Marc Stein (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/08/sports/lebron-james-free-agency.html) of the New York Times.
"I've also been advised that the ever-persuasive San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is bound to try to force his way into the conversation to sell James on the merits of South Texas," Stein reported in early June.
How the mechanics of that would work is another question, though it is possible the Spurs could move some salaries (Pau Gasol (http://bleacherreport.com/pau-gasol) and either Danny Green or Patty Mills would make it work).

If the Spurs are not able to force the stars to align, they'll probably try to retain Tony Parker.

Parker is no longer the threat he once was, as he averaged 7.7 points and 3.5 assists per game last year. He doesn't have the same speed. But he does still have four rings with San Antonio and the experience that comes with them. David Robinson retired a Spur. Tim Duncan retired a Spur. Manu Ginobili will retire a Spur (if he finally retires). There's a pattern here. The Spurs keep their greats. It would be a shock to see Parker wearing a different uniform.

Pop is only "god" because he has the backing of his franchise and also the "Big 3". The magical part is that you have to get rid of your selfish mentality to play for the Spurs. Most other franchises don't do this actually it is the opposite, they feed the selfishness and marketability of the "star" player so that they can retain them and sell tickets. I have always respected the Spurs history of this. To me it all started when David Robinson completely let Tim Duncan be the star on the court while he concentrated on the dirty work for the sake of winning championships. Most all stars in today's NBA would hugely benefit from this no nonsense coaching. Too bad our society promotes stats and being selfish with bigger and fatter contracts. Spurs will always have an uphill battle with free agents but I respect their strategy in this regard.
