In hindsight the Spurs probably did well picking these guys over their frontcourt alternatives. If I remember, Murray was invited to the green room. Not bad for the 29th pick.

With the Euro leagues growing in popularity and skill level, European players now have more choices on where to comfortably play. Hell even Doncic said he was unsure about coming to the NBA. It no longer makes sense from a risk standpoint to pick these (non generational) Euro talents in the lottery, maybe even in the first round, given they may not ever come over.

New voice added to Spurs broadcast team

SAN ANTONIO — Spurs Sports & Entertainment today announced that Dan Weiss has joined the San Antonio Spurs broadcast team. Weiss will replace Andrew Monaco as a studio co-host of the Spurs Live pregame and postgame shows on FOX Sports Southwest, KENS-TV (CBS 5) and KMYS-TV (CW35). The 2018-19 Spurs season is presented by H-E-B.


“Dan has been a valuable part of our organization for a long time and we are looking forward to seeing him behind the desk at Spurs games this season,” said Mike Kickirillo, SS&E Sr. Director of Broadcasting. “Dan is very personable and knowledgeable, and will fit right in with a great group of broadcasters.”


Weiss is in his 10th year with SS&E, bringing San Antonio Rampage and San Antonio FC games to life on Ticket 760 AM and FSSW. Throughout his career, the veteran broadcaster has also joined the broadcast teams for the Austin Spurs and the San Antonio Stars.
