Your missing the point man. Spurs aren't Starbucks or Mcdonalds... Houston is a big market team. They'll get players regardless. The part about the Spurs that they try to sell is likened to a mom a pop shop that's basically a hole in the wall but the food is darn good. It looks like crap on the outside but on the inside it's homey and welcoming. Spurs sell class and a family environment. As close to family as a business can be. You can make a career here. There's a certain level of stability even for role players. Just look at Bonner, Green or even Mills. There's a reason players have nothing but good things to say. They have a good reputation. Your start playing hardball with players then honestly put your self in their position, why the hell play in San Antonio. Pop is tough and a lot of players can't accept old school coaching anymore. See Woj Pod with Jarred Dudley... Money ain't bringing people here. Small market teams are like small business America. You learn what makes a small business successful in this day in age and you'll know what I'm talking about.

The biggest issue will be Klay and Draymond, they aren't franchise players but other teams may be willing to offer them franchise contracts. Draymond has a chance to become Super-Max eligible after this season, it'll come down to how much they are willing to sacrifice to keep the team together. Both guys will be nearing 30 so this could be their last major deal.

You run a slower pace when the talent levels are a bit... skewed against you. Less opportunities for the other team to run away with the game and it gives you a chance to steal a game, at the end.

Gay isn't projected to start, just like he didn't last year. I have a decent amount of confidence that Murray/Mills/DeRozan/LMA/Gasol or Bertans would be able to space decently enough. They may not shoot a bunch of threes because the top two options aren't shooters, but they should do well enough to keep up with other teams.

true, but i'd argue that tim and tiago were far superior in terms of basketball iq/passing, which i think was really underrated in that '14 team overall (one of the smartest basketball teams out there). would also argue that tim and tiago were better defenders vs gay/aldridge, not to mention our wing D was incredible (green and Nephew). the greatness of that defense allowed for a lot of the beautiful game to happen- i suspect that won't be the case this year.

Diaw came on late but generally never shot that much, Cory Joseph was an ok mid range shooter, Manu was ok.

This year we have Mills, Belinelli, White, Bertans, Gay, Aldridge, DeRozan. Those guys all shoot the mid range great and all are great to serviceable on the 3 pt line. What we have more of is athleticism and youth in Murray, White, DeRozan. Gay and Aldridge still athletic beasts compared to what Duncan and Splitter were.
