I'd really like to see both Blake and Thomas offered, and it's too bad attrition is the reason it's not happening. I realize Thomas lacks size, but so did Earl and that turned out great. Blake has the size we need and Thomas has everything else, at the very least one of them will turn out to be good.
Also, wow @ Agholor's chances being 50%

Interesting. Tenpenny appears to be a pure running back, not an ATH, but a running back all the way. I wonder if the staff asked the Texas commits to recruit Tenpenny? Regardless, outstanding name.

Definitely an out-of-state guy that we need to keep an eye on. With UT garnering commitments from two five-star RBs in a row, you wonder if they may willing to take a bit of a risk at the position for 2013. Tenpenny supposedly performed very well for his age group at The Opening.

I like that tweet. Things could get interesting if he leaves Athens next week uncommitted. Those Georgia coaches and commits will be all over him. Get him to Austin and anything could happen. Kind of interesting that he and OL Andrus Peat talk from time to time.

Borrowed from the Shag:
"John Theus, the 6-foot-6, 295-pound offensive tackle out of Jacksonville, Fla., has trimmed his list of schools from five down to three. Great news for the Longhorns as they have made the cut.
"We are trying to make arrangements to visit Texas," said Paul Theus, John's father. "It will be at the end of this month most likely. The finances for the trip are the biggest challenge."

Though i'm not really a contributor in recruiting information, I've seen some guys play since I went to all my high school football games (just graduated).
Went to school with Johnny Manziel and watched others such as Malcolm Brown, Aaron Green, Tim Cole, Malcom Brown, Garrett Gilbert, Griffin Gilbert, Michael Brewer, Cody Green, Marquis Anderson, Taylor Doyle, and some more. I hope Manziel doesn't come back to haunt us.

UPDATE: Class of 2028 top prospect Zach Russell has been seen on his daddy's shoulder, at the mall, where UT merchandise is located due to unconfirmed reports. Here's a scouting report I gathered from watching him crawl on the ground with the football. Very football smart for his age...can already hold a football with two hands...once pronounced the word "Brown" when reading out of his coloring book. We can only assume he was referring to Mack Brown ...has some potential character issues: has been caught numerous times not eating his green beans (a pretty serious issue but one the UT coaching staff could fix)...does not have serious focus necessary to compete at elite levels: seems more interested doing less important things which include but are not limited to: learning how to walk, learning how to read, and playing with his toys.
Will update my report at a later time

shyne, I'd add that Curtis Riser is having the best camp of any offensive lineman. It wouldn't surprise me to see Riser as the top rated guard in the country. Should be a great fit in Harsin's offense which emphasizes athletic guards.

Johnathan Gray article from the Worldwide Leader:
BEAVERTON, Ore. -- If you think that a physical running back like Johnathan Gray isn't a good fit for the seven-on-seven events at The Opening think again.
Thr 5-foot-10, 190-pound five-star prospect from Aledo (Texas) High School proved to be more than capable of catching passing from his future teammate Connor Brewer during the first day of the event.
[+] Enlarge
Tom Hauck for ESPN.com
After rushing for over 3,000 yards as a junior, Texas commit Johnathan Gray proved he can run. Now the five-star RB is proving he can catch as well as any back in the country too.
"To be a complete running back you have to be able to run and catch the ball," said Gray, who is No. 8 in the ESPNU 150 and the nation's No. 2 RB. "Doing it in this environment, against the best players in the nation, makes the experience that much better."
While some may have doubted his catching ability, Gray feels like it's one of the strongest parts of his game.
"I think I have the best hands of any running back in the nation," Gray said. "Catching and blocking are what makes a complete running back and those are two aspects of my game I work on regularly."
As for the running part, Gray seems to have that down pretty good. After a stellar junior season with 3,183 yards and 59 touchdowns, Gray was named the Texas Gatorade Player of the Year. For his career he has already passed the 100-touchdown mark and is approaching 6,000 total rushing yards.
Going into the offseason Gray was one of the most coveted backs in the nation but he chose to commit to the Texas Longhorns in April over TCU and Texas A&M.
"I had narrowed it down to TCU, A&M and Texas and it came down to where I see myself playing and where I can see myself becoming a better man and succeeding at life," Gray said. "Texas was the best decision for me.
"If you're a kid from Texas and you get scholarship from Texas you aren't going to turn that down. It's one of the best schools in the nation. Knowing what Texas football is about, it's just overwhelming."
With seven Texas commits in Oregon this week they have enjoyed the additional time hanging out.
"We knew each other already because we all participated at one of the same camps and worked together," Gray said. "But this is nice because we can catch up again."
And if this week is any indication for the future, Brewer and Gray should be part of a dynamic backfield in Austin.
"As a player I knew he had 60 touchdowns in a season and it's obvious he's one of the best running backs in the country," said Brewer, a four-star QB from Scottsdale (Ariz.) Chaparral who is No. 26 in the ESPNU 150 and the No. 3 QB. "With he and I being on the same team here, I see everything up close.
"He's fast and explosive and he just makes plays. I know I can get him the ball and he'll get 20 yards."
Such a weapon will be great for the Longhorns as they implement a two-back offense under new offensive coordinator Bryan Harsin.
"That's really what narrowed it down from a football perspective, the two-back offense is great," Gray said. "Coach Harsin is a great coach and I loved the Boise offense. The two-back offense is hard to stop."
As dynamic as Gray is on the field, he's likes to shut it down and relax when the game is over.
"I like to chill, go swimming, go see a movie with a couple of girls," Gray said.
A couple of girls?
"Not just one y'know, a couple of girls," Gray said laughing. "I like to do a lot of low-key things, I just chill and stay out of trouble."
He plans to major in business management at Texas and has vision of becoming an accountant -- which could be a good career choice if his football career continues past college.
"If I go to the NFL, I can handle my own business and not leave it in someone else's hands," Gray said. "I want to understand everything that goes on."
Back on the football field Gray's numbers and his talent are more impressive when taking into account that he tore the labrum in both shoulders as a freshman and recently got surgery to repair them.
"It was something I could play with because it wasn't going to get any worse," Gray said. "But now I'm a 100 percent and just ready to strap the pads on for real."
Gray and his Aledo teammates will be going for their third state championship in as many years, something that means a lot to the running back.
"I want to do this for my teammates and my community," Gray said. "Hopefully we'll threepeat and my teammates will earn scholarships and have opportunities to play at the next level too.
"I'm just trying to stay in the best condition of my life so when two-a-days start I'll be ready."

Final thoughts on The Opening from 247 Sports:
You can find these on the Blue Board, but here are some of the key Texas commits/targets JC has written up so far...
Nelson Agholor- Agholor, the nation’s highest-ranked four-star prospect, did not disappoint. He’s got excellent quickness and speed for a player his size. Playing wide receiver, he was able to consistently get open and make big plays. He’s a five-star candidate for sure. Stock up.
Connor Brewer- Brewer makes all the right decisions and has a quick enough release and good enough field vision to consistently find open receivers. He doesn’t always throw a tight spiral, but he gets it to where it needs to be. He was consistently impressive throughout the event. Stock up.
Landon Collins- Collins was the MVP of the entire event and I can think of a more impressive, dominant player in the event- and he’s a safety. He had multiple pick-6’s, several pass break-ups and he’s a physical specimen. Alabama or LSU will get a special player. Stock up.
Torshiro Davis- Davis is quick off the edge and with coaching/development should do just fine at LSU. He’s still a bit raw, but has the chance to be very good. Stock the same.
Johnathan Gray- Gray, a five star Texas running back commit, is a special player and if he can stay healthy is in for a special career in Austin. As is the case with linebackers, you don’t get a true sense of what a running back can do in a 7-on-7 setting. Gray, however, impressed with his ability in the passing game- he has soft hands and runs good routes out of the backfield and showed that throughout the event. Stock the same with bonus for catching ability.
Peter Jinkens- Again, it’s tough to really judge linebackers outside of athleticism and the eyeball test, but Jinkins passes the latter. He’s got a good frame and length and runs well. The Texas linebacker commit from Dallas Skyline definitely showed his upside. Stock the same.
Cayleb Jones- Jones has good size and hands and made a couple of plays here and there during the event, but never seemed to really get into a groove. Stock the same.

I stumbled upon this piece on John Theus, yes it's from Bleacher Report, but good quotes:
Five-star offensive tackle and the No. 7 overall prospect according to Rivals.com, John Theus (Jacksonville, FL), cut his list of schools down to three on Friday.
The 6'6", 292-pound Bolles High School standout, who has been heavily recruited since his sophomore year of high school, told Orangebloods.com the final three schools in the running for his services are the University of Texas, the University of Florida and the University of Georgia.
There is no clear favorite as to who will end up receiving a verbal commitment from Theus, but if I had a guess I would say Georgia is the leader because his older brother Nathan Theus is currently playing for the Bulldogs.
"Me and my brother said we would make our own decisions," Theus said. "So he did that, and it does help Georgia having my brother because we are close, but it doesn't mean I'm a shoo-in to go there."
Regardless of where Theus decides to go, he knows all of his final three schools have a lot to offer.
"They're three big-time programs that are also very good schools academically. I know the whole coaching staff at Florida and Georgia and they're very good coaching staffs and very caring for their kids," Theus said.
For the time being, Theus has no idea when he will decide on a school but says he will not commit until he is ready.
"Right now I have no clue. When I know I'm going to go ahead and commit, but it could be anywhere from next week to the middle of the season to the Army All-American game. I'm not really sure. I know I want to go out and visit Texas," Theus said.
"I could commit before then but I'm not sure yet. Right now everything is up in the air. I think about committing a lot and my schools because I'm down to my top three but I have no definite plans on when I'm going to commit."

Ketchum article on Doral Green - Beckham:
Ok, before we even get started, I’ll admit that I could whip this report up and have it summarized in less than 100 words, but…
a. I can’t say hello to almost anyone in less than 100 words.
b. I want to use this slow summer day to add some context to the Dorian Green-Beckham conversation and try to paint a narrative that we’ll all be able to follow moving forward.
Therefore, you’re going to need to indulge me a little. I thank you in advance.
First, the DGB recruitment is a little different than just about any you’re going to see in 2011 when it comes to a mega-superstar prospect … the No.1 guy in the country, right?
DGB isn’t one of these guys that doesn’t like to talk to the media. No, currently he’s a guy that simply doesn’t talk to the media at all. There just isn’t a lot to go on right now as it relates to getting a true feel for what’s going on inside of his head. Far too often I’ve seen kids like DGB get swallowed up by the recruiting process, but his family is on top of things, especially his father – John Beckham.
The pace is controlled and Mr. Beckham isn’t looking for his son to get on any rides at Six Flags Emotional Park at any point in this process. At the root of this recruitment is a father just trying to make sure that his son keeps as much of a life of normalcy as possible.
Oh, and here’s the other thing – Mr. Beckham isn’t much of a gabber either. He’s not trying to be the star of the show. For instance, when we first approach DGB’s father for an update, he didn’t ask that we funnel everything through him whenever we needed an update and that we could call as much as we want. Instead, he asked that we simply not call for about five months because there wasn’t any updates to give.
Again, this is the No.1 prospect in the nation. This is just a different kind of recruitment, and that’s not meant in a negative connotation.
The general consensus in DGB’s recruitment is that Missouri and Oklahoma are the two clear front-runners for his signature in February. In fact, I reported in last week’s War Room from a source that I trust (and one without connection to any of the schools in this discussion) that the Longhorns were an extreme longshot. His words were that Texas didn’t have a shot in this deal, and that Missouri was the lead dog by a country mile.
It was just one source, and although he’s always been money for us, he’s just one source. He might be exactly right, but the report ended up being a blessing in disguise because while I was in Vegas last week for the Rivals convention, it indirectly led to me connecting with a better source on this topic.
A source I would consider to be much more connected on the subject.
This particular source believes that the Longhorns have better than a Buster Douglas puncher’s chance in his recruitment. Understand that this source will not dispute that the Longhorns aren’t the lead dog in this battle, but he absolutely disputes the idea that the Longhorns are Sean Penn in Dead Man Walking.
His reasoning?
1. Although there’s been no public discussion of the visit, there’s a feeling that the Texas visit last month went very well. In fact, it went so well that…
2. He feels like Texas absolutely will get an official visit. Like put it in ink type stuff.
3. The low-key, non-pressure approach that Texas is taking in the recruitment is connecting with the entire family.
4. Darrell Wyatt.
At one point, I told the source, “Look, here’s what I think and what I’m telling people. Missouri and Oklahoma are the two favorites and Texas might have a fighting chance, but they aren’t the betting favorites by any stretch.”
“That’s fair. But I absolutely would not dismiss that school in Austin. I feel absolutely certain that if you suggested to the family that Texas had no chance, you’d get quite an argument.”
One other note. The local sentiment from some in Missouri is that the Tigers have this thing in the bag and that there’s a handshake agreement already in place that will eventually have DGB landing with the home-state team. Our source believes that talk is misguided, even if he eventually signs with Missouri in February.

Interesting news Pop. From my understanding Agholor could possibly be down on Florida because they've made it apparent that they want Nelson as a DB and only a DB. Florida State has always recruited Agholor for both sides of the ball. I'm surprised that the Seminoles could be out of it.
Going off some of the chatter from The Opening, USC could be a slight leader right now. Agholor has visited Southern Cal twice.

Update: Sad news today as we learn that the sperm from Vince Young that had committed to UT has tragically lost it's life.
It's no secret that Mack Brown could not wait to get his hands on Young's sperm. This is has been tough for the coach to swallow.
Young was visiting a sperm bank to make the donation to UT football. He brought along friends and family for support.
Unfortunately, as noted in the following photo, one of the friends mistakenly grabbed the container holding the 5 star sperm and drank it all down.
http://64.19.142.10/bearmythology.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/kasey-studdard-and-vince-young.jpg?w=500&h=375
"I feel horrible" said the anonymous friend. "I thought it was just juice. I should have known something was wrong as soon as the salty taste hit my mouth. It had such a winning flavor though........I couldn't stop."
It remains to be seen whether or not any more of Vince's sperm will ever commit to UT again, much less ever make it out to see the light of day. Microscopic evidence has shown many of the sperm recklessly driving around carrying guns.
More news to come....

Yikes, you'd like to think our chances with Theus are better than that. Georgia has underperformed recently, I get the feeling that Georgia better win the SEC East or Richt could be in real danger of losing his job. Even if Richt is canned, I don't think it will be until December at the earliest. Is 2 months enough time for Texas to get Theus?
Theus making an unofficial visit later this month could be the make it or break it moment for Texas.

Is there something I've done to provoke this kind of behavior or has this thread become big enough to where some feel it needs to be crapped on? This thread receives a lot of outside traffic that's good for SpursTalk overall and you're just making the site look bad.
I've been more than civilized to any and all that want to discuss their opinions here (you included). I've asked kindly for it to stop and I'll ask again as there's no reason for it. I simply want to to talk football and not have random posts clog the board. Y'all wouldn't poke your noses into a group of strangers in a sports bar, so don't do it here despite being able to hide behind your computer screen. Thanks.

So, that makes it ok to do what you're doing? You understand my point. I can't "broadcast" info any differently than I am without going somewhere else other than SpursTalk. This has gone on for almost three years uninterrupted and it's been great for everyone. I could be the guy who starts umpteen different threads, but I don't and I keep to myself. Rumor that OL Andrus Peat will push his visit back a few days in order to allow for Stacy Searels to be in town. Not sure if he's going to stay an extra day to make up for lost time, but it sounds like he'll arrive on Sunday the 24th in the evening or the following Monday morning. Scheduled to leave Tuesday the 26th. OL John Theus mentioned visiting Austin on the 26th so it will be interesting to see how these visits pan out.

I don't want to be insensitive to Coach Searels, but he should be in Austin when a blue chip OT comes to town. Glad to hear the problem has been smoothed over. Theus and Peat are friends, I don't see them being on the 40 at the same time as a bad thing at all.
I hope Connor, Cayleb and possibly Johnathan will all be able to be in town to host Peat and possibly Theus. I wish Peat was spending 3 day weekend in Austin as originally planned, every little bit helps.

Rumors are swirling that 2012 UT commit DL Coco Nut was seen driving around Austin in this picture taken by a pedestrian.

It's hard to tell if this is really Nut in the photo or not, but if true, this could mean serious trouble for UT football.
The car itself does not seem to be expensive, but gorillas cannot afford to buy cars on their zero dollar a year salaries.
If the gorilla in the picture is really the 4 star recruit out of the Brownsville area Zoo, then questions such as "did a UT booster give him the car?" and "who the hell lets a fucking gorilla drive?" will surely surface.
In the meantime, Longhorn fans will have to hope that this is just some gorilla hater throwing it's shit and hoping it will stick.

Hopefully a big weekend for A&M coming up. A lot of recruits visiting. I think Dalton Santos could very well commit. Hopefully Denzel Devall as well.
Have you guys heard anything about Texas maybe giving an offer to Colin Blake? Not sure where this kid stands.
Also, What's going on with DT Donald Hopkins? Kid has an offer from Alabama and many others but none from UT or A&M?
A&M could be looking for for D-line prospects with the news that DT Lamarc Strahan didn't qualify for entry.

Don't get your hopes up about Dalton Santos. The last I heard he is not firmly leaning any direction after decommitting from OSU and is basically just making the rounds. I think it will be closer to the start of the school year before we know anything firm. I'll ask again today and see if there is any new news.
My gut tells me he will bolt for the SEC. His mom was awfully excited when they came calling and it was a big reason they shook OSU.

The Benefactor with some inside information, nice. I'd like to see Santos go to Bama. It would take a miracle at this point for Texas to pursue and offer Santos.
Designated T I get up every morning hoping to hear that Colin Blake has been offered by Texas. Floss, has said before that Texas could continue to evaluate DBs into the season before another offer comes out. Unless Texas thinks they can get in on committed players Daje Johnson or DeVante Harris, Akina likely won't do better than Colin Blake. I think there's more to Blake than we're hearing. Akina loved Blake during spring evaluations, but has now seemingly backed off. I think Akina has some concerns about Blake staying at corner at the next level.
Additionally, some have said that Akina likes where Texas stands with Geno Smith and that is holding up a Texas offer to Blake. I'm very skeptical about Texas and Geno Smith.
The Recruitocosm guys believe that Donald Hopkins won't be offered by Texas unless another DT leaves the program. I'd like to see Cotton leave and Bo Davis offer Donald Hopkins.
Texas recruiting seems to be in a steady holding pattern right now as the coaches work on OOS recruits and wait out attrition.

Figured I'd elaborate for those who don't venture over to that particular site. The two most important things from this article are:
1.) 2013 OL/DL Jake Raulerson has been visiting several schools this summer and many of the Longhorn faithful think that's a bad sign. Not the case. He says he's being thorough with the process now so he'll know where he stands with UT by February. Very good sign.
2.) The 2012 commitments that participated in Nike's The Opening last week spent a good deal of time with DE Torshiro Davis of Shreveport, LA. See QB Connor Brewer's text to Recruitocosm below:
“Davis spent A LOT of time with us, and had a good time. He seemed really comfortable and he likes Texas!”

The recruiting saga concerning 2019 top prospect Kenny Jackson continues apace. Mack Brown made a recruiting trip to Lake Travis to see Jackson in person and met with him in his treehouse. Word is Mack tried to connect with him by promising to make all the campuses water fountains spray fruit punch flavored Hi-C instead of water by 2019, plus promising to meet Jackson's demands by installing a "Super-AWESOME playground with like shoots and ladders and stuff and one of those big rooms full of balls that you can jump up and down in."
Jackson may have been receiving inappropriate gifts from another school however, as his friends report him "having way cooler Wie games than us now, even though his mom like works in a McDonalds." With no nfl on the horizon some scouts are worried that Jackson may turn his interest to baseball, since he went to a Rangers game recently and said he liked how the "guys get to stand around most of the time and take it easy. Plus they don't have to wear all those dumb pads that just make you get all hot and sweaty." Brown is trying to convince Jackson's mother not to buy him a glove or any other baseball equipment for fear of losing him forever to that game. Will continue to provide updates...

It's been confirmed that Dat Nguyen has contacted Dalton Santos multiple times and his mom was impressed by him as a person. However, she went on to say what I thought before...that they were going to be headed to a lot of big schools over the next few weeks. Her tone seemed to indicate that things were still very much up in the air. It seems like they are really taking their time now after rushing into a commitment with OSU, which is completely understandable. Not shocking after Matt Davis committed and Manziel already on the roster.

I agree DT. Knight isn't a big loss loss for Aggie, it is the 4 Aggie decommitment though. OU seems to be out of the Kiel sweepstakes, Knight could be the back up plan.

That's not a big surprise as I figured Knight would eventually see the writing on the wall. I do wonder how that affects OU, though. Does that mean they don't feel too confident about QB Gunner Kiel? I'm hoping he goes elsewhere because Green-Beckham doesn't need another reason to choose the Sooners.

Just read that the OU staff supposedly told Knight he's the only QB they're taking. I can't believe Kiel might actually pick Indiana. I guess it makes sense since that's his home state and OU's former offensive coordinator, Kevin Wilson, is now their head coach. Other than that, hard to believe such a high profile recruit would go to a non-football school.

Ateman has already visited. Ateman and Jones have similar builds but Ateman is currently ranked as the better prospect. I honestly don't know much about them other than the schools they're interested in because info on the 2013 kids is still surfacing.
Jones pushed is his Texas visit back a few days in order to allow him to visit Tennessee. He has UT in his top three right now.

Some interesting news for our Aggie faithful...Santos' mom dropped in at work today to say hi to everyone. I asked how things were going and she said they were getting ready to head to College Station this weekend then Alabama, Tennessee and Arkansas next week. Then she said something I wasn't expecting...that she felt like Dalton was leaning towards A&M.
Now all that said, I still don't feel like he will fully commit this weekend. He's a kid and could easily be swayed by a harder pitch by one of the SEC programs. However, with this new info I will be less surprised if he does wind up jumping at an Aggie offer.

For those that are wondering, QB Connor Brewer will not be making it to Austin for OT Andrus Peat's unofficial visit next Monday and Tuesday. I'm not completely sure why, but I think he has obligations to his high school team. He had to cancel once Peat moved his visit from this weekend to early next week. I think that might actually be a good thing if UT can sell itself without Brewer around.

Jamel James would be a good pick up for Texas if Bergeron was a junior, not a freshman. Kind of bad timing that 2 very versatile, athletic running backs/ fullbacks emerged within 2 years of one another. Before Bergeron, Texas had been searching for a fullback since Ahmard Hall left.

Pretty much in line with everything that I've heard. Hearing from Alabama was what made him shake OSU...so now it's going to come down to how bad he wants to say close to mom(they are very close) vs. the publicity that comes with an SEC school. Interesting story happening right now is that Mario Edwards is taking a visit to Oklahoma today. Florida State has a couple of other top DE commits and people are wondering if he is wavering.
Wanted to give a few quotes and follow up on DE Mario Edwards' visit to Norman on Monday:
"Mario told me that he wanted to see other places, he said he committed early to Florida State and just wanted to see what other places were like and see what they look like," Edwards Sr. said. "I told him 'man, hey, Oklahoma is the No. 1 team in the country, they are good year in and year out. If you want to look at other places, Oklahoma would be a great place to start. They play a defense like you like to play and what you are in now'."
"They (OU) recruited him, but after he committed a lot of schools were just respecting his commitment and we respect that all the way," he said. "It was just a situation where he wanted to see other places, we've already seen Texas and Oklahoma was closer to us than Texas so we decided to take a trip across the state line, we kind of set up and went from there," he said."
"We're definitely going to come back and watch them play. It makes no sense to not come watch the No. 1 team in the country, and it makes no sense not to come back. We had an opportunity to meet Bob, coach Shipp and we're definitely going to come back and watch a game, We're going to even watch the game in Tallahassee. We're going to watch them play in the Cotton Bowl, I want to see them play a whole game see what the interest in home. We love good football and it makes no sense not to come back and see them play."
If Edwards decides to follow through with attending the TX/OU game and wants to be on the sideline, that interests me because he'd have to be a guest of Texas since they'll be the home team.

Here are some quotes for those wondering about the status of ATH Daniel Brooks:
"I'm really strong with OU. They've treated me really well. They were the first ones who saw what I had and that really means a lot. They said I can contribute to what they have," Brooks said. "OU and UT are both prestigious schools and they both have winning tradition. It's going to be in between those two but I'm really strong with OU at this point."
"I don't know what they (Texas) could do. They've just got to show that they want me more, like OU has. They've treated my family well, OU did," Brooks said. "UT can probably do that too, but they haven't got around to it just yet."
"I might be neutral (at the Red River Shootout). Orange on one side and crimson on the other side," Brooks said.
I still think Brooks will switch to UT if the staff steps it up a bit and recruits him like they were during the spring. It seems like he keeps looking back at UT and has second thoughts about his commitment to OU.

Not that he would accept, but I'm not sure why Justin Thomas hasn't been offered a greyshirt like Kevin Vaccaro. Thomas seems just as high on Texas as Vaccaro.
Bill-
Where are you seeing that UT offered Vaccaro a grayshirt?
To answer your other question about DB Eryon Barnett, I'm not sure what losing him would mean for the DB situation. His scholarship may be used for another position should he decide to leave the program. Another issue is it may not matter with guys like Thomas and Blake anyway because the 2012 class could have already signed their LOIs by the time Barnett makes a decision one way or the other.

What's up with Ladarrel Mcneil? I haven't heard anything about this kid in awhile.
Just a little timeline for you as the guy has fallen completely off of the map it seems. For some reason he's just set on going to the same school as his teammate, ATH Damien Lawry. They both camped at Oklahoma State in mid-June and followed that up with an unofficial visit to Kansas. McNeil's latest trip was a camp last week at Tennessee (he brought Lawry with him) and then he stopped at Alabama before going home. McNeil says Tennessee will get an official visit this fall but he's not naming favorites. Both players actually have a lot of offers and similar options: Arizona, ASU, Arkansas, Cal, Clemson, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, KSU, Notre Dame, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Utah.

These guys actually no longer attend Dallas Maceo Smith. Dallas ISD decided to turn it into a magnet school for technology so the kids who didn't want to attend that school were dispersed among a couple of other campuses. They both now attend Wilmer-Hutchins HS.

Good stuff over the weekend, guys. Here's some other stuff I came across:
*WR Cayleb Jones chipped a bone in his left ring finger over the weekend at the Champion Gridiron Kings 7-on-7 event and is slated to miss at least six weeks. Hopefully it won't affect his high school season.
*Speaking of that event, WR Thomas Johnson was arguably the top performer in attendance depending on who you talk to. Supposedly had a great weekend.
*We talked about this guy briefly back in February as a possible DT offer, but Zorrell Ezell of Humble has committed to Baylor.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Zorrell-Ezell-119686
*Big news of the weekend was 2013 OL Kent Perkins of Dallas Lake Highlands visiting the UT campus. He wasn't able to make any of UT's summer camps but finally made it to Austin. I think he's a Junior Day offer and likely commits on the spot next February.
*Finally...just a reminder that five-star OL Andrus Peat of Tempe, AZ will be in Austin today and tomorrow. Time to roll out the red carpet.

I think the rumor started over at Inside Texas (they're usually accurate), but those reports look to be false. It may end up being a moot point, however. I was actually surprised by this. Unless there's some new rules in the labor agreement that I'm unaware of, cutting Williams will actually cost them a bunch in 2012.
