913419783076540417 ugh, i may. steele is definitely struggling with the new HC. they kill themselves with all kinds of mental errors and miscues. their front seven is the weakest is has been since the program started in '06. because they get pushed around so easily, the secondary has to lend run support which is effecting their ability to cover. this is the reason, i believe, that caden sterns has not had a great year. he has still made some plays but not what is usually expected of him. steele still has great talent but judson is on tear and will be looking to exact revenge on the one SA-area team they have never beaten.

Kyle Porter is really good at running the football so long as no opposing player touches him. Porter led the team in carries again (ugh) with 17 and could only drum up 39 yards on the ground. His team-leading 46 carries has resulted in less than 150 total yards in four games. Comparatively, Chris Warren has carried the ball 42 times for 256 yards this year — but for some reason isn’t the featured back in this offense. Porter is the better pass blocker but, yeah, no one really understands what’s going on here. If you ask Tom Herman, he’ll tell you that Texas will have trouble running the ball regardless of who touches it with all the injuries on the offensive line. Still, not really sure why Porter has been designated the featured back when I’m not sure he’s broken a single tackle this season.

I agree Texas needs more big guys in the fold, that's pretty obvious. I'd imagine the coaches will look for more Juco's (they offered one last week) this year. We need depth now, so we can red shirt players like Kerstetter, who played as a true freshman last night. Most OL's need a couple years in the weight room before seeing the field. IMO, the OL is holding this team back from really competing at a high level (on offense). If we get that fixed, we can start talking about 10 win seasons again.

I sure hope so Shane hasn't shown any separation. I think Ehlinger deserves a chance to show he deserves to be full time starter. Shane hasn't shown any improvement from last year but I'm sure it has something to do with losing such a great RB in Foreman. We relied heavily on Foreman and it puts more pressure on the QB. Shane doesn't push the ball downfield unless his target is wide open. He's afraid to make a mistake and is unwilling to trust his WR's to make a play on 50/50 balls. It's beyond me why the staff doesn't see it this way. How do you allow your best offensive player (Collin Johnson) go from nearly 200 yards recieving against USC to about 17 yards against Iowa State. You need to start the QB who can incorporate and make the best use of the guys around him. Ehlinger was great at finding tight openings to Collin and Armanti, balls that Shane never even attempts. It's a no-brainer at this point.

He hasn’t lost anything yet, as of right now he will compete all year and then take that into spring. If he left he would have to redshirt and then spend two more years in another program. There is no guarantee then that he would not be in the same situation there. Unless of course he transferred to UTSA or Texas State.

What is an adequate number? We started the season with 18 guys, lost two to transfer before the first game, and 6 are now injured, 7 if you count Shack. 18 linemen is the natural number to carry on an 85 man roster, might even be a little high.

I'm glad they gave Ehlinger a chance to at least plead his case for the starting job I like what he did tonight. Tonight he showed how much more he's able to incorporate his playmakers.
