OrangeBloods is reporting OL Junior Angilau of Salt Lake City, UT will be joined by his parents and sister when he officially visits UT on Friday.

The plan is to take all five of his official visits, and UT will be his first. Other schools involved are Oregon, USC, Utah and Washington.

Angilau's mother has been open that Texas is her preference since the family visited Austin in the spring.

Some notes from that report (OrangeBloods):

-he plans on signing in December since he will be an early enrollee.

-after visiting LSU this weekend, he's looking into an official visit to OU.

-depth chart will play a major factor.

-LSU is not his leader despite some reports saying that's the case; down to Auburn, LSU, OU and Texas.

Too costly to fire him and who would you replace him with?

Gut feeling, analytical feeling and a little of what I've heard.

There's still a feeling that the program direction is heading up, the AD is a big believer in Kliff and his work ethic and if you look at Tech''s games, shit, they had double digit 4th quarter leads against KST and W Virginia. ......and if Tech had just a semblance of a kicker, the KST game doesn't even get to OT and they're already bowl eligible.

Well see, but i honestly think he's got one more year, tbh.

Quotes from the mother of OL Junior Angilau as the family prepares for their official visit to Texas (OrangeBloods):

“I am stoked,” Ms. Angilau said. “We fly in on Friday. Truly blessed. Junior has five official visits and he is going to try to do them all. This one is the one I was looking forward to the most."

“I’m super excited. Not only me personally, I know Junior is too. We’re super excited to come to a game. When we were there, it was the spring game, now we’re just coming to a real game. To see a real game will be great. On our visit on our own time, I truly fell in love with the people, just how genuine they are. My heart is definitely a Texas fan. When they say southern hospitality, I saw it first-hand. Not only the school, the community, being out while Junior was doing things with the team, me and (my daughter) got to see some of that.”

“If you get five, and it’s paid for by the college, it is truly a blessing. A few of the people who have been recruiting him, I feel (it’s right to visit) just to show respect. I would love for Junior to be set in stone (on one school), but he just isn’t,” Ms. Angilau said. “I know personally where my heart is, but I want Junior to make up his own mind and be happy.”

“I know when Junior gets asked a lot, just in general, he always says Texas (is standing out). I don’t know if he says it just to please me. I don’t know,” Ms. Angilau said. “We’ve had some great talks, and mammas know their boys. He’s a genuine boy that just needs good leadership on the field and off the field. He’s been missing that piece in his life.”

Unfortunately, I don't know if these are based on UT going 7-5, 6-6 or all of the above.

USA Today – Texas Bowl vs. Texas A&M

Sporting News – Liberty Bowl vs. South Carolina

ESPN (David Hale) – Texas Bowl vs. Texas A&M

ESPN (Kyle Bonagura) – Alamo Bowl vs. Washington State

Sports Illustrated – Texas Bowl vs. Texas A&M

SB Nation – Houston Bowl vs. LSU

Jerry Palm – Liberty Bowl vs. Kentucky

Athlon – Camping World Bowl vs. North Carolina State

Same thing as Sonny Dykes or Sonny Cumbie etc.

I don't see the logic in buying out Kliff''s contract to replace him with someone with basically the same coaching philosophy from the Leach tree.

I could be wrong but I'm just not seeing Kingsbury getting the boot just yet

The only legit QB we have beaten in conference is Ertz of Kst. In OT in Austin with a line that could actually block. Gave up 34 pts. Ertz 12-18 228 yds, and he's not even a great passer.

I caught headline yesterday that mentioned Bobby Brown was considering a visit to Texas. Didn't read the story because I don't have access believe it was from 247. Another thing, whatever happened between us and Max Wright I thought he was supposed to visit Texas for a game but I don't think it ever took place. He does seem like a guy who would stick to aggies regardless of a coaching change.

Calm down we got this.

1- Techs defense is horrible (better this year, but still horrible)
2- Techs O scored zero TD's against TCU. Shut down Coutee and their O struggles.
3- We may give up yards to them, but our redzone defense is top 30 this year.

Wright to Aggie is almost a no-brainer regardless of what happens. I feel Ossai and White we have the best chances with, to come our way once Sumlin is gone. Brown I'm not so sure what to think of him. He has been a strange recruit to me, for some reason.

Unreal what Orlando has been able to do with this defense and this without a great defensive line. I sure hope we can find some capable DL bodies to wrap up this class. Also hoping we have some sort of leverage to keep Orlando around for some time. He needs to be named associate head coach instead of Drayton, whatever the man needs he's been out of this world good.

Nothing is easy for us.

You are not Kansas or Baylor. We have trouble against the real deal Big 12 QBs. And against any defense. Although Williams coming back helps stabilize our line.

Nothing...

I am really quite ambivalent about a possible bowl.
Do we really need anymore practice with only 2 QBs and guys headed to the NFL that could get injured...
We know what we have. A horrible offensive line, no TE, with QBs and RBs getting absolutely drummed. And plenty of receivers who have given up and or have degraded waiting for 50/50 balls thrown under duress.

Might be time for rest. Concentrate on recruiting and realize we just did not have the depth to sustain so many injuries, or a QB with experience somehow made of Iron.

God help us if we play a team that has a mean defensive line in a bowl game.

Calm down we got this.

1- Techs defense is horrible (better this year, but still horrible)
2- Techs O scored zero TD's against TCU. Shut down Coutee and their O struggles.
3- We may give up yards to them, but our redzone defense is top 30 this year.

I didn't disagree with anything you said here, but lol

Now that the regular season is over I will finally give my critique of this coaching staff and the job they did this year.

Frankly I give them a fail, but for honest I will talk about each coach and each group.

Tom Herman - You are a definite fail, it's your job to get this team ready each week, and frankly this team has bookend losses that are inexcusable and were this to happen a coach in year 4 he would be gone. But you are in year one so you and your staff will likely be retained.

Tim Beck - 3 of the six losses can be attributed to the play of the QB, but he is a true freshmen blah blah blah. All six losses can be attributed to the stinker of an offense you put on the field. As a QB coach it is your job to help the QBs get better each week, I saw no improvement in the decision making of Ehlinger or Buschele. Sam's stupid play cost us the USC, Okie state, and Tech games, I know that is being harsh to Sam, because your horrible play calling is the real issue I will address.

I get the issue with our oline and injuries, but lets be honest, your play calling could have helped some, but it was stupid and ineffective, quit trying to be the smartest guy in the stadium and start trying to set up plays and putting your best players in position to make plays.

Do you know the difference between Greg Popovich and Mike DiAntoni? Mike was more interested in being the greatest offensive mind in basketball, while Pop is more interested in finding ways to win.

Stop trying to be smart and start trying to win.

Your offense is the second worst offense Texas has put on the field since I've been watching Texas football, and that is going back to 1977. If Tom Herman is Charlie Strong 2.0 than it is because you are Shawn Watson 2.0.

Derek Warehime - Total fail, he is the one coach I will say deserves to be fired. I get it that injuries happen, but we still had 10 scholarship players and not once did I see any improvement in this group from the Maryland game to the Tech game. That is 100% on Warehime. But the bigger picture is that Texas has lost two guys before the season began in Delance and Hodges who felt this was the wrong place for them and now we are likely to lose two more in Mcmillon and Cuney. Spares one might say, chalk it up to attrition when coaching changes happen. In a year when we were in need of bodies, I'm not seeing you help yourself by making it comfortable for them to want to stay.

There is no excuse for this line, you and the OC want to run zone blocking schemes then you better at lease be willing to try and teach them how to zone block but I've seen no improvement in this department.

More important is that you haven't been able to land the talent necessary to show you have hope for the future. This team has seven open scholarship slots available and frankly we need most of those for defense, but since you can't coach worth a damn we now need to fill them with Juco offensive linemen just to give our offense a pulse. That is on you my friend.

Drew Mehringer - A good young hungry coach that is a great recruiter, however, he is about as good at coach receivers as he Warehime is at coach offensive line. Not good at all. In fact I'd say as the season wore on our receivers got worse and worse. Do you know anything about teaching guys how to block and run routes? Like I said, you are a good recruiter, but your receivers suck at two things that are fundamental to the position. Frankly there is no excuse for it, you have 10 receivers that are talented and willing to do what it takes to get on the field. Second, if you took the time to get to know your guys strengths and weaknesses you would know how to put the right personnel in the lineup to maximize their talents and put them in the best place to succeed.

I'm not going to comment on the other offensive coaches because all the rest of the offensive coaches get an incomplete and all the defensive coaches are fantastic. I hope that Texas will offer pay raises to Orlando and his staff as they have proven to be as good as advertised.

Tom, if you want to last longer than Charlie Strong, you better quit trying to be Jim Harbaugh 2.0 and start trying to be a football coach. The gimmick crap is good if you are winning, but dude you ain't winning so I expect to see some real improvement from you and your staff if you want to keep your dream job.

I'm out.

A&M are offering him 7+ million per year, they are so despirate for a win they are absolutely money whipping him. Doubt FSU will match such a crazy offer.

If Herman doesn't workout you can bet Texas will follow suit, Jimbo isn't the best coach but he has a higher floor than any previous coach the aggsy have ever had.

He is going to find that being at FSU and going to College Station is a huge step down. More money, better facilities but he isn't going to find it easy competing in the SEC West against BAMA, Auburn and LSU, and then having to compete with them Texas and Oklahoma for the top athletes in the state.

Wow! That is a lot of players leaving. While a vast majority are either role players or did not get significant playing time, the losses will hurt depth. The Oline will be affected. We can only hope JP develops and is ready to compete, Hudson comes back strong, Okafor and Kerstetter get stronger, and Elijah Rodriguez is as good as the coaching staff was praising before the injury. I could see a starting line of Elijah, Pat, Shack, Hudson, Okafor or Kerstetter with primary backup being JP, and Okafor or Kerstetter.

-Traore is the only JUCO OL with an offer, but they're monitoring the Johnson kid from Arizona Western. There doesn't seem to be a lot of urgency on that front.

Not surprised Boyd wants to see how high he's graded by the NFL but while I think he can be drafted I don't think it'll be high enough for him to leave. His 1st half of the season wasn't great but he turned in a good 2nd half of the season.

This is why I think Boyd wants to try himself for the NFL his best bro Hill is bouncing. Omenihu is the name that shocks me trying to come out. He a lot like Boyd would do well with another year but Boyd at least has stats to back him. Omenihu just flashes a lot but isn't very productive.

About 1/4 of the roster turning over if that holds.

And that list doesn't even mention possibilities like Buechele, Houston, Townsend or Christmas-Giles.

I'm officially hoping we don't get anymore DBs or Wrs and focus strickly on getting 5 or 6 olinemen with at lease 2 of them being Jucos.

We started out the year with 18 scholarship linemen.

Lost Jean Delance, and Brandon Hodges to transfer, lost numerous guys to injuries and now we are going into the spring without 4 guys that would make up a huge amount of our depth. As far as I can tell here is what we have coming back

Sam Cosmi OT
Zach Shackleford C
Tope Imade G
Patrick Vahe G
Derek Kerrstettler G/OT
J.P. Urquidez OT
Elijah Rodriguez OT
Patrick Hudson G
Denziel Oakafor G/OT

If we ever want to climb out of this offensive line purgatory we need to seriously get two or three juco guys to come in. I'd settle for a couple of grad transfers right now.

As far as Beck is concerned, I'd like to keep him one more year, but I want to see Warehime hit the road, he sucks as a coach and recruiter.

The Aggsy oline coach is the real deal, I'd love to get him here. Hell I'd even money whip Bruce Matthews out of retirement to come in and coach the oline.

Wow, I completely forgot about Houston and Townsend being on the roster. Also, I don't agree with everyone saying Carter is a potential transfer candidate. I see him having a significant role next year and I think he knows it.

I'd guess Shane, Collin or Toniel in that order of odds that they be the unnamed player.

As far as a huge loss, my wild ass guess is Hemphill-Mapps based on some of the off-the-field issues he's had.

He'd play quite a bit, and then he was nowhere to be found.

I don't know I just think he slumped and his ball control became questionable. In my opinion he's one of the die-hard Longhorns that just flat out loves being at UT, unlike some of the others.

Texas is going to get killed by the hard 25 limit, we probably could take 35 with all the attrition we are having.

Next season is looking pretty bleak right now, lets hope we can pull in a few offensive linemen and keep the guys we got.

Yeah.

This is a risk that they must take. School was pretty unimportant; having to navigate through rules and barriers, not so much in their world. Go pro, hope you make it, and don't get injured. Hope you got good people advising you. Hill is a kid I especially worry about. If something goes wrong, you fall back on what... Connor, he could easily renter school and get a degree and have in's.

There needs to be more ESPN 30/30s "where are they now.... ? " Football is an absolutely brutal business. It starts Freshman year for many of these kids. They get shunted into useless degreeville. The only hoops they have ever had to jump through are on a grass field.

Defenseless entertainment fodder.
Acchhh... At least they had a shot due to extraordinary physical talents I guess.

Quotes from JUCO OT Badara Traore (24/7)

“Everything is going great,” Traore said. “I’m preparing for the bowl game and finishing up classes. I had a great visit to LSU. I enjoyed getting to hang out with everyone there. I’m still weighing all of my options.”

“Coach Warehime has been keeping in contact with me a lot,” Traore said. “I get to Arizona for the bowl game on Wednesday, and he’s actually supposed to come see me when I get there. He always asks me about life and football. It’s great.”

“Texas is still in great standing,” Traore said. “I’m a JUCO player, so I want to come in and have a chance to win the starting job. That’s a big thing for me, and I know Texas has that to offer.”

Traore will graduate in December and enroll for the spring semester. He plans to make a decision at some point in the next few weeks.

Tfloss posted this earlier -

"Some notes on players leaving, per Inside Texas.

-OL Connor Williams will not play in the bowl game and focus on going pro.

-LB Malik Jefferson, CB Holton Hill, S DeShon Elliott and DE Charles Omenihu want to go pro. Only Omenihu has a solid chance of returning.

-OL Jake McMillon, OL Terrell Cuney, OL Garrett Thomas and OL Alex Anderson will not use their final year of eligbility and move on.

-LB Edwin Freeman is contemplating retirement.

-they're hearing three likely to transfer are RB Chris Warren, WR Devin Duvernay and CB Donovan Duvernay.

-lastly, there is a player mentioned that would be "a very bad loss", but they can't publish the name right now."

This may be what you're hearing. Also, if I'm not mistaken Texas can backload up to 6 EE scholarships to the 2017 class totals. Since they only took 17 last year that would put them under the 25 for that year. This means Texas can take the 25 total this year (really giving them 31) if they wanted. I think it would work that way as long as they stay at or underneath the 50 in 2 years rule. I could be wrong, but this was similar to the 2015 class when they took 28.

Update on CB Anthony Cook of Houston Lamar (24/7):

"Everything is going real smooth,” Cook said. “I'm coming close to a decision within the next week or so, so I'm feeling good about it."

"(Texas) is right there,” Cook said. “I don't want to say they’re a leader, but it's right there for me. The chances of me choosing Texas is high."

"That official put Texas among the top within my three,” Cook said. “At first, they were like the third least likely out of the schools, but that visit really opened my eyes to a different side of Texas."

"Improving, that's one word I can say that describes the season for them," he said. "And they got that bowl game, which they didn't do last year. That's why I say improving, because they're going in the right direction."

"Vonte and DJ are always on me,” Cook said. “They tell me to just further the Lamar to Texas tradition, but we'll eventually see."

"I really don't want to give a specific date,” Cook said. “But I'll say a week or two, because I'm just going to drop a video out of nowhere and just commit."
