Defence got tired well A&M and Tides didnot get tired. Are they a bunch of whimps?

I am begining to doubt our Def. Cord. and his scheme On to OSU.
texas entire starting back 7 plays on all special teams plays..........so yes they will get tired from cover every punt/kick

We had the ball 6 times in second half. 3 times 3 plays and out. One time 6 plays turned it over on downs. We scored 10 points in second half. Some of that is on Sark. What happened to the screen pass ? The Oline was manhandled, to get to next level we gotta have better Oline play. OU is gonna score. You are not going to beat them scoring 10 points in second half

Congratulations on the win. That’s a BIG win for your program. I wish we could have finished our game off. From a Texas standpoint our game was a gut job. We collapsed in the 2nd half, and you guys found a way to hang on. Again congratulations.

thanks. of course, the win means less if A&M reverts back to losing to lesser teams. i didn't see all of the texas game but it seems as if it was just a classic brawl and that whoever had the ball last was going to win. the change of QBs also seemed to energize OU while throwing UT off. regardless, UT has some serious playmakers and they certainly have the capacity to get to the title game. they need to shake off this loss and get a big win against the cowboys, which i definitely think they can do.

Jordan is a walking hospital bill.

He is indeed.

And clearly one of the tougher receivers along with Worthy. They both were/are good blockers as well.
We need Omiere back because the other WRs are really not gonna be physical.
Sarkisian has really got an offense that can get WRs in the open unlike Herman. But we have to have some kids who can make tough catches in traffic like OU.

Terrible line play - both sides of the ball - plain and simple.

Those late touchdown runs were a shining example of the front 7 not being able to move and get off blocks.

The 2nd half was a disaster......

Lots of work to be done getting better players than the ones Herman brought in (for D and O lineman).

The most significant change is not injury related — super senior Tope Imade is in line to receive his first start after entering the season with eight appearances as a reserve. The decision by offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Kyle Flood comes after redshirt freshman right tackle Andrej Karic struggled against Oklahoma, particularly in pass protection. Inserting Imade allows Flood to move super senior Derek Kerstetter from left guard back to right tackle. Imade isn’t known as the most mobile or most flexible player, but at 6’6, 361 pounds, he is the type of massive human being that Flood prefers along the offensive line.

From On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons

Arch Manning is the No. 1 prospect in 2023 (https://www.on3.com/news/on3-2023-football-prospect-rankings/), and with his performance so far this season, he may be widening the gap between him and the other top juniors in the country.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound five-star quarterback at New Orleans Isadore Newman has progressed over the last year. He is showing great consistency, arm strength, more athleticism and still that quick release in 2021.

Manning can go anywhere he wants. He has the offers, and he has never talked about favorites, and he may never officially cut his list down, but the schools talked about the most this fall have been Alabama (https://www.on3.com/teams/alabama-crimson-tide/), Clemson (https://www.on3.com/teams/clemson-tigers/), Georgia (https://www.on3.com/teams/georgia-bulldogs/), Ole Miss (https://www.on3.com/college/ole-miss-rebels/)and Texas (https://www.on3.com/teams/texas-longhorns/).

Texas trending for Arch Manning? It is not likely that Manning will ever name a leader or rank his top schools, but after spending time around New Orleans Monday, I like where Texas stands.

Based on what I heard from multiple sources Monday, I give the Longhorns the edge for Manning. Steve Sarkisian is expected in Louisiana Thursday (https://www.on3.com/news/which-head-coach-will-be-at-arch-mannings-game-thursday/) to see Manning play. Quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee is likely to join Sarkisian on the trip to the Boot State later this week.

Manning will then turn around and leave Friday for Austin. The visit over the summer went very well for Manning, and since then, things have progressed well with Sarkisian, Milwee and Texas.

What really seems to make Texas stand out according to sources is the connection with Sarkisian, not only as a coach but as a person. He has done a very good job recruiting Manning, giving him space, and still being in contact on a consistent basis. Manning also mentioned this last weekend in an interview with Inside Texas (https://www.on3.com/teams/texas-longhorns/news/inside-scoop-arch-manning-recruits-react-hoops-target/):

“(Sark) is a laid back guy, which I really like,” Manning told Inside Texas on Friday. “He’s not always pitching me. He just checks in and that’s one thing I like about him. When it is football, he’s a genius.”

Sarkisian being an offensive coach, the two have talked about the Texas offense, the diversity of it appeals to Manning. But the connection appears to be much deeper than that.

This is a big visit for both parties. If things go well again, as they did over the summer, Texas could really put itself in a very good position with a decision expected in the spring of 2022.

Again, I don’t expect Manning to name favorites – but even with very good visits to Alabama and Georgia already this fall – Texas and Sarkisian are what I have heard the most about the last 24 hours.

This is not over by any means. Georgia was a school one source said was right there too with Alabama not far behind. This is still an ongoing battle by some heavyweights. The hot team right now appears to be Texas, and the buzz is around the Longhorns, so this weekend will be a big one.

A visit to Ole Miss will take place next weekend, and everyone knows all the connections to the Rebels Manning has. Clemson is still trying to get him on campus, and that could happen in November, but nothing is set.

Manning as good as advertisedIt was only practice, but Arch Manning was impressive on multiple levels. What stood out as much as anything was his leadership. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Manning is a leader with his bloodlines. But he is, and it was nice to see.

He is also about the details. From the play fakes to the timing to taking reps until the play is perfect, Manning is all about the details.

The ball also jumped out of his hand all afternoon. He has a big-time arm, and he does not put a lot of effort into his throws.

Another thing that stood out was how Arch Manning threw the ball on the move. Throughout the practice, he worked on many throws, from short, to intermediate, to the deep ball, and while all were impressive, the throws on the move stood out as much as anything.

Manning has a lot of pressure on him. He has that last name. He has famous family members. Then there is the No. 1 ranking in the 2023 class and five stars on his profile.

But he is different.

Arch Manning is not normal. None of what was listed above moves him. He doesn’t have social media, he doesn’t care about rankings, he never self-promotes himself, he doesn’t even know all his offers, and he is an uber-talent with a mature mind that has a bright future ahead of him.

Will it be in Austin under Sark? Time will tell.

Sarkisian is clearly superior to Herman on offense.

We are getting more wide open plays that we have seen for a good while. Maybe since back to Mackovic?
And with a crappy OL. Just think if we could actually block for a whole game.
Against good teams that can put pressure on our OL the playbook shrinks. It shrinks even more if we get well behind.

Somehow we have to get some OL transfers and some superior recruits.
I looked on the Alabama depth chart in Aug and neither of the Brocks were anywhere to be seen. Their big brother is starting for us. Any chance? For all I know they could be injured and just waiting it out till they start from Bama. I dont feel good at all for Kam D. For some reason he seems like an East Texas dude that is perfect for ATM.

Im giving Worthy a break.
A freshman who is getting mixed messages and rightly so. "We need you to do BIG things" vs. "Be careful with ball security"

Anyone who watches this game knows gifted athletes in college can make plays that require some risk. They may make moves that get them out of one situation, and then maybe into another where they can get easily stripped of the ball or just get blast tackled just because they avoided getting tackled in the first place. In HS they would be running free because kids cant get off the ground and help. Well in college, some are never put on the ground and the pursuit is totally a new phenomena. It gets even more obvious in the pros. X is in a tough spot. He has made huge plays, now its expected. And being used for special teams is NOT going to help him endure an entire season of getting hit with that small frame. The playmaking could get worse, and the turnovers more frequent. Lots of pressure for a true freshman who clearly is the game breaker along with Bijan. And on a team that will give up points. We will have to keep putting up points.

A lot more of our team success will be to give the defense some breathers. That means offense will have to be able to stay on the field. And with our Oline, that is not easily done. Now the offense is down another receiver.
You know Gundy is going to exploit that weakness.
Being a 5 point favorite is puzzling to me.

that worthy kid is going to be special-and credit sark for getting the ball in his hands, from the very first play on. you get the ball in your playmakers' hands. period. that kind of speed kills. it's the same reason fisher tries to create opportunities for achane.

Achane KO runback against Bama was a track highlight.
I just worry that X is gonna get banged up. Which is why I was hoping Omeire was back in the lineup because Whittington is out. So the tough guy going over the middle to catch passes is X at all of 175 [bs? He is by far the best receiver and thats a horrible look for Herman. We dont have the best TE in the nation either.

well when you have a shook QB but the best RB in the nation, it seems obvious what to do. i dont get it. but now its incredibly obvious why Card was the original starter. Casey got nothing once you throw him a little off his gameplan. every game this year, as soon as the defense makes an adjustment, its like hes completely lost and having to be bailed out by either bijan or worthy

card from the getgo was obviously so much more talented, just inexperienced

Not only that, not even giving more than 2-3 carries to the other rbs. If they are keying on Bijan there are other ways to run the ball with misdirection, and they didn't try that at all in the second half and decided to keep throwing those motion screens that were not working at all.

This was exactly the same game as OU but against a team with opposite strengths, a good disciplined D with a mediocre offense.

OSU was patient, their players knew the were better on both sides of the ball all along both lines of scrimmage and their coaches knew it as well. The interception was a minor symptom of a larger disease. We don’t have players along the line of scrimmage. They are going to get beat as games wear on very simply because... the are not good enough.

The entitlement stuff is silly and ludicrous. We have people who can’t admit we are not good enough to beat teams unless they are weaker along the line. The ONLY skill position we are deep at with talent is RB.
Sark knows the playbook is down to almost nothing after teams adjust and understand just how weak we are. Gundy did a great job of just being patient even with a QB who overthrew TD open receivers. They just sucked it up and absolutely pounded us on the ground and with shorter passes. Their defense is the most disciplined smart one we have played so far. Once they got their feet wet they had us, They knew and lined up exactly like they knew the plays after they figured out slight adjustments our oline could not handle. This is exactly how OSU has remained undefeated. They are smart and play to their strengths (yes they have strengths on the line of scrimmage) They are not nearly as explosive on offense as prior years and much more savvy on defense.

Entitlement U via the polls and press... we need backbone players. Stupid fkn excuse and way too easy. Like some badass can come in a magically make Tope Imada a better player... Make Kerstetter a star at every position... BS We don’t have it to beat teams with solid talent on the fronts.

And we will still win games against the more mediocre teams our lines don’t drown against. We need transfers or ready to go freshman (give me both) on both fronts.

10-17-2021, 09:32 AM
It takes this long for people to see the obvious.

I would just like to know from the recruiting standpoint how we get said line players when what we have received to develop is so bad. “He’s a man at 6’4” 360...” well guess what, he can’t block. Go do the entrance to a bar. Go bounce with your bulk, you can’t move well enough to play football.

Now the fans and prognosticators that follow UT, they would be the most out of sorts unrealistic. "Throw the ball Casey", as he is being crushed and hit after every damn play...
Throw the ball where in 0.8 seconds of time?

Also on a beautiful day for football, in an incredible albeit patchwork looking stadium, there are 5 seats full and a vacancy pattern? Yes, even after everyone made it to an 11 am kickoff. So Austin. And the crowd noise... Happy to be there and not near as loud as it should be. So Austin.

fans like you are why people cringe at texas, including texas fans

that being said, I think they are closer to being back to greatness than people think. they lost these last two games mostly because of monumental meltdowns by their QB

we can blame the line all we want, and sure it's not great. but Colt played behind some mediocre lines too and did just fine. and the team doesn't need a QB to be as good as Colt, just not completely incompetent once the defense makes an adjustment. there were still good plays called and receivers were getting open all over the place, Casey was simply trash and has been missing golden opportunities all season. the line partially looks worse than it is because Casey is missing open receivers and not stepping up in the pocket

with a more solid QB, this team easily could be undefeated despite the lines not being great, that's how talented the team is as a whole. all three losses were the result of complete QB meltdowns, where they had many opportunities to capitalize but simply failed.

Billybass

To put all the blame on Casey for this debacle is crazy. This is Sarks team. He brought in some linebackers/D ends in the off season, who had minimal results, but I didn’t see any Oline guys being brought in. I hope he has talent evaluation to know that the guys we have are not good enough.
That being said, he inherited this team from Herman. So quarterback and Oline are not the guys he recruited. It will take a miracle to get guys like Campbell to come here, after they see this mess. Can Sark pull it off ? We will see. This is a tough time for longhorn fans, but hopefully it will get better. I think this season is going to be a Looooonnnng season. Probably time to start Card and see what he has got.

sorry but when you are consistently throwing bad passes and missing wide open receivers and killing drives with bad decisions, you deserve a lot of blame. it would be one thing if the play calling was truly bad, but fact is there were a lot of times guys were wide open and Casey simply missed them. fans like you are why people cringe at texas, including texas fans

that being said, I think they are closer to being back to greatness than people think. they lost these last two games mostly because of monumental meltdowns by their QB

we can blame the line all we want, and sure it's not great. but Colt played behind some mediocre lines too and did just fine. and the team doesn't need a QB to be as good as Colt, just not completely incompetent once the defense makes an adjustment. there were still good plays called and receivers were getting open all over the place, Casey was simply trash and has been missing golden opportunities all season. the line partially looks worse than it is because Casey is missing open receivers and not stepping up in the pocket

with a more solid QB, this team easily could be undefeated despite the lines not being great, that's how talented the team is as a whole. all three losses were the result of complete QB meltdowns, where they had many opportunities to capitalize but simply failed.

fans like you dont know how to watch football and are not UT fans anyway.
Closer to greatness? Uhhh, no. I dont see it. Colt McCoy had a much better line, its not even close. That is some super weak shit.

sorry but when you are consistently throwing bad passes and missing wide open receivers and killing drives with bad decisions, you deserve a lot of blame. it would be one thing if the play calling was truly bad, but fact is there were a lot of times guys were wide open and Casey simply missed them. I'm sure they would love to run a bit more with bijan but you gotta make teams pay for selling out to stop the run

Casey had open guys and kept missing them. that's on him.

Casey had a poor game vs okie lite and he had a lot of help doing it. However he had a great game vs OU

He did not miss near as many open receivers as the OSU QB.
And Thompson was under much more pressure AFter they started twisting and sending an extra man.
He is absolutely getting hit too much. It gets to everyone, especially a first year starter.
We might need to switch off getting QBs killed week to week.

1) it wasn't a comparison between him and sanders, not sure what that had to do with anything

2) if we are going to compare them, sanders adjusted to what Texas was doing. Thomson did not adjust at all. that was the difference.

I don't hate him at all, he just has incredibly obvious limitations that began to be exposed against TCU. them OU and OSU picked up on it and did a lot of the same, with the same results. no one is saying he should be verbally abused or something, just that he simply is not good enough to be a big12 championship QB unless he had a ridiculously stacked team, at which point even garbage QBs can be successful. see Alabama until they got Tua.

sure he would look better if the line was better but it doesn't change the fact that he doesn't adjust well to defensive adjustments, lacks arm strength, and lacks pocket presence. the best oline can't fix those flaws, only partially cover them up.

Adjusted?
Gundy adjusted by ramming the ball down our throats.
Thats a damn easy adjustment.
The point is it is hard to rate a QB when he fears for his life.
So by watching the play calling you could see where the game was headed.
Where our best player go? Did he just quit?
Hint: he got hit by a tidal wave of defenders

The game was won at the line of scrimmage. It’s really not that hard to see. All the blathering after that is secondary. The way Gundy Called his plays and made very conservative decisions on 4th down was a big tell as well. Play us straight up and they win. Pound us one direction run a counter the other way into wide open space. He did not need his old 500 yd passing game. He knew they were better in the most fundamental way.

Sark and others do a good job by not singling out players to idiots like you.
He has definitely implied the o line and d line need to do better.
And by playing starters on special teams it’s an indication of our athletic depth.

Imo we lost to three better teams. We might have gotten lucky and won but that won’t help for fixing the basic rot.
The only faint chance we had against Arky would be playing them in Austin.

in the second half i saw sanders making plays, and casey not. sanders saw holes and ran, and hit some open receivers to keep drives going. casey in the second half repeatedly got sacked, had negative plays, and threw an interception directly to a defender on a play where there were two receivers open

no one said the lines arent a problem

but casey was beyond terrible, and it wasnt a matter of him running for his life every other play because of constant line breakdowns. he simply missed open receivers on several throws and many more times didnt even scan the field to see that there were open receivers when there were. if he would simply step up, he could buy himself plenty of time and help the offensive line do their job, but when you stand there as the ends collapse on you, there is literally nothing that the tackles can more do to help you. casey is simply not a good QB, there is no other way to put it. and he completely melted down after one bad play.

yes they are clearly better teams atm. doesnt change the fact that texas still has far more total talent on the roster than arkansas and okst, and probably more than ou even, which makes things frustrating. but at the same time sark needs time and a chance to fully integrate his system and filter out hermans failure.

I saw Casey get clobbered after almost every throw that required time.
You do realize Card came in for a play after the hammering. That was about it for Casey.

I am saying it is very hard to rate qBs under constant pressure. And Casey was, especially in the 2nd half.
And if you want to rate QBs on missed opportunities Sanders had two wide open touchdowns throws. You dont think about those because its the other team. AND, he had MUCH, MUCH better blocking.

And people in the stands were yelling throw the ball... my god he got lucky to get the blooper grounding calls off. Bijan got totally stuffed after midway 3rd quarter. Zero running game and they sat on top of Casey. If I was his dad I would have wanted him subbed out. We absolutely do not have the depth to deal with a team like OKie State. We have 2 o lineman down, then one during the game, Kersteter comes in and... snaps everywhere... with both centers. Only a sadomasochist would want to be behind our oline in the majority of the 2nd half.
The problem was way way bigger than the QB.
We have THE best RB in the country. Where did he go?

I saw Casey get clobbered after almost every throw that required time.

and many of them were avoidable if he had a little pocket presence. but when you stand like a statue, those kinds of hits happen a lot more often unfortunately.

You do realize Card came in for a play after the hammering. That was about it for Casey.

casey was gone mentally long before that. the awful pick-6 he threw (with receivers open) was when he crumbled.

I am saying it is very hard to rate qBs under constant pressure. And Casey was, especially in the 2nd half.

they frequently rushed 4 and sometimes kept a spy. the ends went extra wide, which worked well because he wasnt stepping up in the pocket.

And if you want to rate QBs on missed opportunities Sanders had two wide open touchdowns throws. You dont think about those because its the other team. AND, he had MUCH, MUCH better blocking.

sanders didnt have a mental meltdown. casey did. that was the difference. sanders was under more pressure than you give credit for too, he wasnt just operating in a perfect pocket all day either, he simply adjusted better.

Bijan got totally stuffed after midway 3rd quarter. Zero running game and they sat on top of Casey.

hm i wonder why. my hunch is it had a little something to do with a nonexistent passing game and a QB making mistake after mistake

If I was his dad I would have wanted him subbed out. We absolutely do not have the depth to deal with a team like OKie State. We have 2 o lineman down, then one during the game, Kersteter comes in and... snaps everywhere... with both centers. Only a sadomasochist would want to be behind our oline in the majority of the 2nd half.

yes, the line has issues. thats obvious and something ive repeatedly said even from game 1. but that still doesnt absolve casey from his share of the blame for missing open guys, getting tunnel vision, and becoming a statue in the pocket.

The problem was way way bigger than the QB.

never said it wasnt. just that he was quite obviously the worst player on the field that day. not sure why we are absolving him of blame. hes been getting free passes all season, its time he receive some blame.

We have THE best RB in the country. Where did he go?

a little underutilized, but understandable when the defense can sell out on every run and not be punished for it

The staff spoke to people close to Blue and reassured him of their support for and belief in him as shown by standing behind him during the summer when he announced his decision not to play. Both parties are getting together to have a longer conversation this week, and I was told by the source close to Blue that there isn't anything to worry about as of now. one of the biggest problems is pre-season rankings. they are completely useless and create more inaccurate rankings than any other flaw in the system

wait until 6-8 games have been played before assigning rankings, because teams like OU now, and A&M earlier in the year that clearly dont belong in the top 5-10 will not retain a high ranking simply because they have had good fortune to not lose yet, over teams that may have a loss or even two yet are clearly superior to them

or better yet, get rid of rankings and let conference championships actually mean something and have a playoff system between conference champs

then teams like texas and OU probably wont be so quick to jump to to the SEC

but its probably too late at this point, unless they just did a complete conference revamp

Im recording this thing and then going into radio silence and getting outside on a beautiful day.
Im not gonna spend my whole day watching commercials or going over to a watch "party" to absorb commercials.
Maybe both teams will run the ball a significant amount and skipping commercials during taking in the recording will not ruin my digits later on.

So quick question... Why did they move Schooler from WR to DB?? I don't blame the guy but he makes Blake Gideon look good

Neo. did Casey just step up in the pocket?

:lol

amazing how much more time he has to throw the ball when he does so

now if moore would quit dropping TDs and causing turnovers they will be looking good

I didn't know you can catch the ball after it hits the ground, sometimes this year I feel like Big12 punishing UT for leaving to SEC, I know that's not the case but some of these calls man....
