Yes recruiting is slow. Will pick up during and after the visits. IT had a nice list( posted a fewposts back) IMO needed 3 or 4 more OL to be a complete list.
First time in a long time I have no idea on number of spots open. Doubt if any one outside of staffknows either. Just have to wait and see if Sark recruits a balanced class and who leaves.
Sark mentioned Texas has room for 2 more transfers.

Yeah I saw that but they never said anything else about Jake.
I understand privacy issues, but this is a family who has had a lot of tragedy and when a 20 yo dies from ? the first thing many think, especially from OU, is suicide. but that cant be clearly a "nothing suspicious".
I guess the family just wants to lay low and I get that (except they accepted being known as all UT and thrived on it; and were all in on the likeness issue and the ability of kids to promote themselves). And They were not afraid of Dad's story.
So I guess Im not completely getting it.
We have all had tragedy of one type or another and this question is usually essential in healing. The family does not know how Jake died? I am struck by the lack of information I guess.
jake hade been undergoing heart testing weeks before his death

Im thinking Covid probably aided in this sort of pathway.
Students got isolated, had to work out on their own at first and then class at home.
Some possibly liked it.
From a team point of view... I hesitate on this mind set. If you have to save your body from HS hits, just wait... kids and parents have to realize how violent this game is. And now in college as a pathway to pros...? wow... opt out. Go fully academic.
Or maybe he really needs rehab. So he is taking a Bosa year, only a level earlier.

one of the texas pay sites said he got into an argument with his coaches which lead to this...........the likely outcome will be reconciliation with the coaching staff & him playing the season

as a huge HS football fan with ties to several head coaches in the area, i can say this is a worrisome move and hopefully not one that catches on. i don't know the kid personally so who knows if there's more to this but on the surface, it's a bad look.

Inside Texas
The Texas football program is set to officially welcome 15 players to the program this weekend when the remainder of the 2021 class and a trio of transfers reports to Austin.
Ten early enrollees from the class are already on campus and went through spring practice, including linebacker Terrence Cooks, tight ends Gunnar Helm and Juan Davis, and receiver Jaden Alexis.
The 15 players reporting this weekend will be a few guys expected to make an instant impact with a challenging first two games of the Steve Sarkisian era, and a lot of quality to be developed among the high school prospects on the defensive line and wide receiver.
WR Xavier Worthy, Fresno Central East
Worthy instantly becomes the fastest offensive player in the program after picking out his locker. The 6-foot-1, 165-pounder ran in the 10.5’s as a sophomore, and that speed and acceleration translates to football-pad speed. Make no mistake, the reason Sarkisian coveted the former Michigan signee was that he possesses the quickness, speed, and playmaking ability he had been coaching at Alabama. After missing time on the field in high school due to the season being pushed back, Worthy’s ability to develop quickly and adapt to more the challenging playbook will be the key.
WR Keithron Lee, Bryan Rudder
One of the top playmaking seniors in the Lone Star State, Lee is quicker than vertically fast, but has enough speed. He has the ability to snatch the rock and accelerate. Very good play-in space prospect. Could factor in the punt return game.
WR Casey Cain, New Orleans Warren Easton
The least talked about prospect in the 2021 class, Cain will be one many Texas fans want to learn more about. He has high-end hands and ball skills with undervalued quickness and initial movement skills. The big question is can he win foot races at the Power 5 level? If he can, could be a steal.
RB Jonathan Brooks, Hallettsville
Brooks led Hallettsville to the state championship game playing running back, in the return game, and at safety. That level of competitiveness can’t be swept under the rug when considering his chances for success at the Power 5 level. He displayed the vision, feet in the hole with jump cuts and skip cuts, instincts for the position, and a willingness to take on contact and keep his feet moving to maximize YAC in high school. Brooks has long arms, and that creates ball protection issues. That will be a point of emphasis early on by the Texas staff, along with working to improve long speed.
OG Max Merril, Strake Jesuit
The 6-foot-4 versatile o-line prospect heads to Austin with an 80-inch wingspan and near 10-inch hands with the desired ankle flexion and hip flexibility. That means there is a very good baseline skill set for Kyle Flood to develop, and that development will very likely be at guard, and possibly even a look at center. Merril comes from a highly successful and competitive family in the business world.
DE/TE Ja’Tavion Sanders, Denton Ryan
The most talked about prospect in the class, and also the one with the most intrigue as reporting day nears. The reason is simple; Sanders prefers to play tight end to begin his career. With that said, and not underestimating his ability at tight end, the Longhorns need for EDGE talent on defense will very likely eventually force the move to defense. It’s important to note that Sanders isn’t against playing defense, it’s just not the first preference. Texas needs Sanders on the defensive line, and needs him to be the high-level player that he has been projected to become.
DT Byron Murphy, DeSoto
Murphy enjoyed one of the more productive senior seasons on the defensive line in the state of Texas. The former running back lacks ideal arm length, but more than makes up for it with quick initial movement skills, understanding of leverage, upper and lower body strength, and a competitive chip on his shoulder. These type of prospects normally push their way onto the field, and end up being productive Power 5 players.
DE David Abiara, Mansfield Legacy
The lone player in the class that was heavily recruited by Pete Kwiatkowski. When IT made a visit to Mansfield Legacy in November and Washington was the front runner, a Legacy coach relayed what Kwiatkowski said about Abiara, “We have really good players at Washington, but we don’t have guys that look like Abiara with that frame.” Make no mistake, the upside is very high for the one-time Notre Dame verbal.
DE Barryn Sorrell, New Orleans Holy Cross
The one-time Northwestern verbal has the frame to carry 280+, so where he ends up along the defensive front over time will be something to watch. There is quality initial movement skills for his size, physicality and the desired motor.
DE/T Jordon Thomas, Port Arthur Memorial
Made a huge jump as a senior after missing his junior campaign with a lower leg injury. His calling card is physicality and motor. Thomas was very productive as a senior playing through double teams most Friday nights. Not an EDGE pass rusher, Thomas could eventually fill out, and move inside over time.
CB Ishmael Ibraheem, Dallas Kimball
The long-limbed and quick cornerback brings Power 5 ready physicality in run support. He will need to have a little patience and develop, as the Longhorns have four quality corners ahead of him in 2021-22. His long speed will very likely be the determining factor of how high of a level he reaches at Texas, and in the Big 12.
LB Morice Blackwell, Arlington Martin
The hard-hitting linebacker is built more like that of a safety or outside receiver at this point, but that means his ceiling has nice height. Productive, competitive and a quick reactor that’s best football is out in front of him. Blackwell could be a force on special teams early in his career.
And there are transfers too:
LB/DE Ovie Oghoufo, Notre Dame
The EDGE player from the state of Michigan heads to Austin with more than one season to play, which is key. The Longhorns need EDGE ability, and the 6-foot-3, 240-pounder will bring experience and high-level coaching from Notre Dame.
LB Devin Richardson, New Mexico State
Richardson came out of Klein High as a lightly recruited prospect, but one that has filled out physically and blossomed into a legitimate Power 5 caliber linebacker. Richardson heads to Austin at 6-foot-3, 235-pounds with the desired arm length, quickness, and the ability to pursue.
LB Ben Davis, Alabama
The former Under Armour All-America Game selection struggled with injury in Tuscaloosa, and was also playing behind players that performed better. Davis brings winning mentality and understanding, as well as familiarity with members of the new Texas staff. If the staff gets more than impact special teams play and key depth with flashes, consider it a big win.

Inside Texas
Alabama running back transfer Keilan Robinson (St John’s, Washington D.C.) made his way to Austin on Friday. We’ve heard things went well to the point IT is expecting him to be a Longhorn.
Robinson would add game-breaking speed and versatility to the offense, but he’s also willing to run it up the gut. If you’re a Jamarion Miller fan, you’re a Robinson fan, too.
Robinson was in the 2019 class and played as a true freshman when Steve Sarkisian was Alabama’s offensive coordinator. He opted out of the 2020 season.
If, as expected, UT secures the commitment, it will be interesting to see how it affects running back recruiting. Robinson has a lot of eligibility left (and already knows the playbook), so it will mean one less spot at the position, at least at some point.

I'm told that Texas will host 5-star defensive tackle Bear Alexander on an unofficial visit tomorrow.

Sounds like a project.
I guess we know his 4 Hs coaches and they all say good things about him, I guess...
He would have to be a very good kid getting drug around through all this muck and maintaining some sort of focus.
HS kids do not like to go to a diff place every damn year. Some consistency would be nice.
Paint me skeptical even if he does visit. What could "he" see in us? I Feel sorry for the kid. The 320 lb kid.

IT Recruiting Matters: Bear, Terrance Brooks, new CB on the board, Adari Haulcy, Evan Stewart
The Texas staff has a huge weekend of visits ahead in the 2022 and 2023 classes, headlined by quarterback Arch Manning (Isidore Newman/New Orleans) fresh off an offer from Clemson on Sunday. Prior to the beginning of the key weekend, the staff has been busy hosting visitors and making evaluations.
On Wednesday, former Georgia verbal and current Texas A&M lean Bear Alexander (Fort Worth Brewer) made his way to Austin with a family member for an unofficial visit. The day was spent meeting the staff for the first time, with much of the time spent with defensive line coach Bo Davis.
If you’re looking for a major development with the 6-foot-3, 320-pound athletic and long-armed defensive tackle, that won’t be found at this point. This is a recruitment that is currently expected to go all the way until December with twist and turns along the way. Texas A&M is in the drivers seat, but there are official visits scheduled to Miami June 11-13, possibly USC June 18-20 and either Oregon or Alabama June 25-27.
Ohio State trying to get in on Terrance Brooks
Fresh off an official visit to Oregon, elite CB Terrance Brooks will head to Florida this weekend before making visits to Texas June 18-20 and Alabama June 25-27.
This morning, Ohio State reached out to the Brooks family to see if the Buckeyes still had enough time and opportunity to get the near 6-foot, 185-pounder on campus for an official visit. Ohio State is talking about July for an OV, which is worth noting.
While it’s not out of the question Brooks would use his final official visit on Ohio State, the Buckeyes would have to truly impress in conversations quickly. That begins with player development, scheme fit, and early opportunity. Then there would have to be a 3-3.5 year graduation plan has to be laid out, and that is a plan designed with an emphasis on a sports medicine career.
Even if Ohio State gets Brooks on campus, it’s unlikely the Buckeyes could make up ground on Alabama and Texas.
And one more thing in regard to Brooks, he will play his senior season at Little Elm.
Because Plano John Paul II doesn’t have December graduation possibilities, Brooks has been headed to a new school as a senior. And that school will now feature one of the state’s top secondaries with Colorado verbal Keyshon Mills at the opposite corner, and a pair of FBS prospects at safety.
Speaking of Mills, the near 6-foot cornerback traveled to Austin Wednesday with his mother to meet the Texas staff, and go through a personal workout for Terry Joseph. Mills, who checked in at 182 pounds and was timed at 4.53 by the Texas staff in the 40-yard dash, was told by Joseph that the Longhorns are very interested and want to evaluate in his senior season.
Mills will next camp with SMU before heading to Oklahoma and Missouri for personal workouts. Baylor, TCU, and Washington are also showing interest. Mills made an official visit to Colorado last weekend.
Adari Haulcy works out for Texas
Fort Bend Marshall defensive back Adari Haulcy has been on the Texas radar since the spring. The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder made a trip to Texas June 7 to workout for Blake Gideon and staff.
Haulcy was at LSU for a workout the day prior to Texas, and has trips scheduled to Tulane on June 11 and Louisiana-Lafayette on June 14. Of the schools that have offered, La-La is considered the favorite over Kansas currently.
Texas has been in contact with Haulcy since the workout, and is a safety prospect the staff will be watching early in the season.
The latest on Evan Stewart
The über athletic WR made an official visit to Florida last weekend, and the intel from IT is the former Texas verbal told the Gators staff they were in the lead.
With that being said, IT spoke with a Power 5 assistant coach Wednesday that has been recruiting Stewart for over a year. That coach predicted Stewart would stay closer to home at the end of the day.

24/7
— I've entered a new Crystal Ball pick in favor of the Longhorns for Texarkana Texas High edge rusher Derrick Brown. Coming out of the weekend, there was some strong buzz surrounding Brown and the Longhorns, and in talking with sources in Texarkana it seems the Longhorns haven't lost momentum. Brown canceled his Texas A&M visit over the weekend and instead scheduled an official trip to Texas Tech. While Oklahoma still looms large in the distance, I like where Texas stands at the moment enough to have the Longhorns in the power position with a confidence score of 7.
— The race for the Longhorns to reel in cornerback target Terrance Brooks is going to be tough. After seeing Brooks in person recently and talking to sources, I'm confident that Texas and Alabama seem to be the top two. The bad news for Texas is that Nick Saban is pretty dialed in on this one. A source I spoke to said that Brooks and Saban talk often in long conversations about schemes, coverages and development. Development is a huge concern for Brooks and nobody sells that better than the Crimson Tide. The Longhorns still have a chance to turn the tide with a visit upcoming where they can push academics and a better path to early playing time. That said, it's going to be a dogfight for the Longhorns.
— Thursday night's camp will have some big names including one of my favorites in North Mesquite 2023 WR Cordale Russell. The Longhorns will get to lay their eyes on Russell and see his tremendous frame and physical talent up close. Russell is still raw for the position but he has a tremendously high ceiling. 2024 Texas offer Jaden Allen should also be on campus to take part. I've yet to get a full confirmation, but if Jaden is there, I'd assume Bryan Allen Jr. also makes the trip.
— If Texas does have to pivot to some secondary options in the secondary, several players have been grabbing the staff's attention. I've talked a bit about Avyonne Jones as a potential option should the staff like what they see, and I'd also keep an eye on Devin Turner at safety. The Frisco Lone Star prospect was incredible at the SMU camp this past weekend. Kansas commit Xavion Brice is another guy who could explode after testing very well at SMU and has the ideal frame. Colorado commit and Little Elm DB Keyshon Mills is another player to watch. I was told he showed up in Austin today and performed off the charts during camp. One completely off-the-radar name for Texas that I've heard some schools speak highly of is Fort Bend Marshall cornerback Adari Haulcy. He could be a corner or safety target and is due for a huge rise this summer and fall if he keeps performing.
Thanks for all the updates texas4ever.

Put Alabama in the playoffs from now until eternity. (Now they have zero chance of not making it)
Losing 1 game (what will now be known as a "regular season game") in college football should mean something imo. If you lose another, say goodbye to the playoffs. Im waiting for an SEC team with 4 loses to get in on strength of schedule. Cool stuff.

Inside Texas
IT spoke with a source very close to Harold Perkins (Cy Park). The Longhorns definitely helped themselves this weekend, and are now in the thick of this recruitment. The 6-foot-2.5, near 210-pounder with 4.49 laser forty speed was accompanied on the official visit to Texas by his mom, siblings and uncle that lives in New Orleans (who Perkins is extremely close with).
The Texas staff did a terrific job of showing Perkins that he could play a hybrid nickel/safety role at Texas if he remains a similar weight and continues to retain his elite speed and agility.
Perkins, and all of the recruits on hand, got to experience the university and city with a good vibe and excitement with the baseball super regional and everything going on with the big visit weekend. The city of Austin and campus life really appeals to Perkins personality.
The source told IT that Perkins mom also was fond of what she saw, as was Perkins uncle.
Bottom line, Texas is position to have a nice battle with Texas A&M should Perkins decide between the two in-state powers.
Perkins will make unofficial visits this week to TCU and Oklahoma, but still plans to save the remainder of his official visits for the season.

Need to start hitting and producing big innings. We are relying on pitching, good defense so far. That wont hold up against some of these hot hitting teams we will face imo. None the less, its fantastic to be back again.
12 runs on 10 hits against inferior pitching required to get us to double digits.

Get Perkins.
We could use the Home Run.

Agree on the hitting. Can win if pitching is good enough, think Calvin and Greg. Horns make series 50% of thetime.

for the record, i really don't troll the texas fan base. for one, i attended both schools (undergrad at A&M and graduate school at UT). second, i'm very involved in the high school football scene and so i have come to know many of the kids that have come out of the greater SA area. i root for these kids as much as i do for my team.

I agree with you. I got no problem with the aggies. I went to a UT school, but have family that went to A&M. I would rather our best high school talent stay in Texas than go to OU, OSU or Alabama.
I also love high school football, got kids and grandkids playing and coaching. There ought to be a way the Texas schools could link up and try to keep our high school talent in state. Just sayin’. Also tired of losing....

We are clearly not back anywhere close to a National Championship. Thats the only back there is, and almost zero on this board has claimed we are anywhere close.
And I will give you this, Aggie does not say they are back... because the question is back to what?
A National Championship when dinosaurs roamed the Earth?
But that big ring you gave Jimbo... thats back I guess? Keep with the SEC chants because you have a chance with that. Make sure that league keeps crushing you.
Take care of the kid. Dont follow the Jameis Winston/ Jimbo model. Jumbo Crablegs...

This is not your typical Aggie.
He does not pretend he is general Patton, or demand they get a street in College Station named for pres45
And I totally get why aggy thinks UT has a considerable bunch of spoiled brats as students. We do.

Inside Texas
June 18th-20th OFFICIAL VISITORS unless otherwise noted
QB Maalik Murphy, Junipero Serra (CA) #AllGasNoBrakes
RB Jaydon Blue, Klein Cain #AllGasNoBrakes
WR Evan Stewart, Liberty (Frisco, TX): Let’s party. Here are the facts: He’s savvy, smooth, and fully understands his value. Maybe too well. But he can back it up on the field. The Florida trip wowed him and the Gators think they’re the team to beat. He spent time at Texas A&M this week. Wait until Austin. NIL could be the closer for UT.
WR Shazz Preston, Saint James (Saint James, LA): LSU or Alabama. Or Florida. Or Mississippi State. Not Texas barring the unforeseen but they’ll take a shot at the do-it-all receiver.
WR Armani Winfield, Lewisville #AllGasNoBrakes: He took a student trip to Texas earlier last spring. He might take another visit or two, but he looks locked into the Longhorns.
WR CJ Williams, Mater Dei (Mission Hills, CA): The four-star from Cali is still in Sark’s sights and Williams is excited for his official visit. He might sneak into this class. He’ll still see South Bend in the last weekend of June. There will be pressure on the USC staff to roll out the red carpet for the local product, even though the Trojans have current official visitor Chris Marshall No. 1 on the board.
WR Brenen Thompson, Spearman (Spearman, TX) unofficial visit: One half of the Twin Turbos, the west Texas speedster is set to see UT on his own dime, then return this fall for a game in an official capacity. Texas A&M is set to receive an official visit June 21-23 and Oregon June 25-27 with Oklahoma State having already received an OV. IT continues to hear mom prefers he stay in the region.
WR Jordan Hudson, Garland (Garland, TX) (UOV): There’s chatter he’s not in love with the long-term outlook at QB for UT. There’s also buzz he might commit to SMU tomorrow, and if so, obviously wouldn’t be making the Texas trip.
OL Connor Robertson, Austin Westlake: The 6-foot-4, 295-pounder from down the street is already on campus. Proximity has its privileges. There’s some pro-Texas buzz in this pursuit, but the Longhorns still have to survive a visit to Stanford June 25-27.
OT Kelvin Banks, Summer Creek: After seeing LSU and Oregon, Team Banks is Austin bound this weekend. He still wants to see Texas A&M, but the Horns and Kyle Flood can really solidify things with the top tackle on the board. This is a recruitment Texas has been way out in front on since the arrival of the new staff, and IT has yet to hear anything that says Texas has slipped in June.
DT Kristopher Ross, North Shore #AllGasNoBrakes: For the second weekend in a row at Texas comes at a perfect time with TCU make a very strong push, and Oklahoma hanging around.
LB Trevell Johnson, Arlington Martin #AllGasNoBrakes: No interviews. Just Texas.
S Bryan Allen Jr., Aledo #AllGasNoBrakes: He’s been waiting on this official for months now. He’s connected with Blake Gideon and Jeff Banks, and his Alabama trip early in June is a distant memory.
CB Denver Harris, North Shore: The five-star returns following his spring game appearance in April. The highly-sought after cornerback popped into College Station this week, will be at Georgia June 21-2,3 and Alabama June 25-27 to finish up the visit process. LSU did a great job of making him feel like family, but IT still isn’t buying the Tigers as a real threat given the schools remaining. A July or early August decision remains likely.
CB Terrance Brooks, Little Elm: With UT hosting the four-star corner for his official visit this weekend, Brooks has approached this decision very business-like. Nick Saban has made Brooks a priority and now it’s Texas’ turn. He’ll see Alabama next weekend. This recruitment comes down to development and early playing opportunities with player development No. 1. The defensive coordinator and position coach relationship is key here.
Note on priority defensive back:
DB Bryce Anderson, West Brook (Beaumont): The versatile DB is currently on an official visit to Alabama with a trip to Texas scheduled for next Saturday after the conclusion of the Bruins time at the Texas State 7v7 Tournament. The one-day visit to Texas will be all about spending time with Steve Sarkisian, and the defensive staff. Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher has taken this recruitment personally, and is the front-man doing everything he can to beat out the Longhorns. Following the visit to Texas, Anderson will sit down with his family and let them know if he has a decision, or if he needs to push back his commitment date and make an official visit to Texas at a later date. Anderson has been planning to announce July 4.
Notes on LB recruiting:
LB Sebastian Cheeks, Evanston Township (Evanston, IL) - 2022: After Notre Dame canceled his official trip this weekend, he’s headed to Ann Arbor on June 25th-27th, and tells IT that he’d like to commit in July or August. He wants to have it wrapped up before his senior campaign.
Cheeks had glowing remarks about Texas linebackers coach Jeff Choate, who is making a strong impression on recruits these days. Choate told Cheeks he’d help develop him as a football player, but more importantly as a man, a son, husband, father, and friend.
Texas likes Cheeks’ versatility and finds him to be a great program fit; an Our Kind of Guy.
LB Junior Tuihalamaka, Bishop Alemany (Mission Hills, CA): After his Texas official visit, it was believed UT pulled even with Notre Dame for the four-star’s services.
After his recent official visit to South Bend, Notre Dame has confidence it’s the Irish and he could make an announcement this weekend.
OLB Derrick Brown, Texas High (Texarkana, TX): The 6-foot-4, 215-pound EDGE backer has an announcement date. On July 20th, the four-star with double-digit offers will commit to his future home. Texas, OU, and Texas Tech are the main contestants, with UT holding the lead.
Note on OL recruiting:
The staff is all in on Connor Robertson and Cole Hutson (Frisco). Those two fit the type of what they’re looking for on the interior. Where it gets a little tricky is with Jacob Sexton (Deer Creek, Edmond OK) who would ideally play right tackle. The staff is high on Sexton, but it’s also high on Cameron Williams from Duncanville. There’s a sense if Williams doesn’t walk away completely enamored with OU this weekend, they’ll have a good shot to win him over when he takes his official to Texas next weekend.
IT had a recent source in Duncanville state he felt UT held a slight lead for the mammoth o-lineman.
Texas wants one of Williams and Sexton but might not have room for both.
