Another 2-way option?

Enrique Freeman Becomes Unrestricted Free Agent
The Pacers have withdrawn their two-way qualifying offer to forward Enrique Freeman, making him an unrestricted free agent, tweets Keith Smith of Spotrac.
Freeman, who will turn 25 on Tuesday, was the 50th overall pick in the 2024 draft and appeared in 22 NBA games as a rookie for Indiana, averaging 2.1 points and 1.4 rebounds in 8.2 minutes per contest.
While Freeman’s impact at the NBA level was very limited, he played well in the G League, averaging 16.9 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game in 14 outings for the Indiana Mad Ants last season. He also had a strong Summer League showing in Las Vegas this month, registering averages of 16.6 PPG, 9.6 RPG, 2.0 APG, and 1.8 BPG with an incredible 72.5% mark on field goal attempts, including 55.6% on three-pointers.

Love’s game fell off a fucking cliff last year. He’s washed.
yeah im not worried about how great the player is who is on the 15th roster spot, but he'd be a low maintenance vet

But maybe find someone who has some chance of sticking (like a Champagnie of sorts) over a guy who'll be gone for sure in a year with likely no contribution in that time frame... like any wing who has decent size and isn't a non shooter and doesn't have a rap sheet.

im not that high on Precious but you could do a heck of a lot worse than him for your 15th roster spot

i wonder if they are waiting/hoping for Love to be bought out as we could use one more PF (and not a SF masquerading as a PF like Barnes/Keldon)I think Precious would be a really good choice for 15. The roster is lacking some beef at 4 and he'd fit right in if/when the two-center schemes fail.

Love seems more like a title run deep piece; not sure if the ambitions are that lofty yet.

I like Freeman or Osifo as a two way project.

According to a league source, the Celtics are waiving guard JD Davison.

Davison, the G League MVP, is no longer eligible for a two-way contract with the Cs but could sign one elsewhere or compete for a roster spot.

I moved out of SA and I’m in Hou right now. That said I still have family there. The flooding did hit SA out of nowhere at one point and a few people died from what I read. But it was the area about 40 minutes north of SA that just got ravaged. Was probably the most horrible thing to happen to our state since Uvalde.

As everything is with politics it’s not really simple. Nobody knows wtf a “Republican” is anymore. People are trying to out-Republican their peers and it’s just turned into a cluster fuck. It’s crazy bc literally nobody in charge actually cares about the state of Texas or its constituents. Cruz left during the freeze/ power outage and then balked at the claim that he could’ve actually been of any help to anybody. He literally said, “well what could I have done to even help anyone?” Literally anything else but run away to Mexico.

Abbott got paid off by a billionaire from Pennsylvania who has a string of private schools that he wants to build here in TX and wanted access to tax payer money. Lo and behold as soon as Abbott got a 6 million dollar check from that billionaire he railed hard for a voucher system where parents can “decide” where to send their kids to school. He even withheld public school funding last year and personally saw to it that every Republican that voted against the vouchers (Texas is highly rural so private school funding for most of the state would effect them negatively) and all those rural Republicans actually thought of their constituents and low and behold they were replaced by Republicans who did vote on vouchers. Abbott also never got our power grid problem fixed. He just set up a fine system of a million dollars a day which actually makes the company rather pay the small fine than spend to fix the issue. And Abbott of course took in donations of 5 million dollars from said company after not fixing our power grid problem.

Our AG was literally convicted of fraud. He has like 20 other lawsuits against him. He’s a big POS who hates the little guy (and believe it or not we are all the little guy) and has shown zero interest in doing anything legal.

But what really pisses me off is Abbott. He tried this bullshit political move where he likened the death of hundreds of people, entire families, small children who were just terrified in their final moments to a football game. I give him credit for securing money from Trump (when literally no other Governor has had success with) and putting together a team to search and secure the bodies. But man I just don’t like his callousness when it comes to children dying. To me (and it might be just me) it’s evil. He did the same shit with Uvalde by not attending the funerals and having to be talked out of going to an NRA convention days following the massacre.

Somewhat offtopic, but this triggered me, tbh.

TL;DR, Ariza is broke.

He listed himself as an unemployed retired professional athlete. He said the last year he filed taxes was 2022. Trevor listed his average monthly income as $0. He said he pays around $10,000 a month in child support for other children and $4,000 that he pays in spousal support.
He listed his cash and checking accounts as negative $230,000. He said his real property was worth negative $4.7 million.

Trevor listed his monthly expenses as $37,008. He said he spends $18,850 on his mortgage, $458 a month on maintenance, $2,000 on health care expenses, $2,000 on groceries, $1,000 on utilities, $600 on his phone, $500 on his laundry, $500 on clothes, $2,000 on education, $4,300 on auto expenses and $3,300 on a car loan.

Why the fuck is he paying 4k a month in spousal support? Is his ex disabled or what?

You're broke and unemployed, but you're spending $500 a month on laundry? What the fuck is wrong with some people. It's not like he's a kid who just got in the league, noone ever told him he can wash his own shit?

Unfortunately, that probably wouldn't get as much usage as you'd think. Feel like this generation looks at having a kid as part of a similar old school view point on things you do/obtain when you have "made it" (i.e. the white picket fence, house mindset). Sad but there is no other way to explain it with actions from players such as AEdwards, Zion, and JGreen. These players KNOW the women just want the paycheck and still give it to them cause they can afford it. Crazy to me, especially when they are with serial pro player baby mommas, and sad for the kid IF the don't put the time in with them and take parenting seriously.

The Toronto Raptors have waived center Colin Castleton. The 25-year-old center averaged 7.2 points on 50% shooting from the field and 6.9 rebounds in 26 minutes during 11 games played, including four starts, for Toronto last season.

spurraider21

Castleton just needs to get bigger. he has good height/length but is kinda skinny. i remember him being productive in summer league and his gleague stats are very good too. he's not particulary skilled or anything but he does the "big man stuff" pretty well from what i've seen as far as rebounding and being able to secure position and score. but with his lack of real strength is possible he was just able to pull this stuff off against lower caliber opponents in gleague/summer league, but i think theres a good chance he develops physically and ends up being solid

im not saying he'll be as good as him, but i kinda remember what Zubac looked like as a laker when he wasnt that big yet but showed adept big man skills. he eventually filled out and became a good player for the clippers

Nikola Vucevic, why are the Bulls trying to get rid of him? Why are there so few takers? Is he really that bad of a player?

He’s a center who struggles on defense and requires the ball to be effective, particularly operating from the elbow. His shooting is average at best. Basically, he has the usage rate of a featured big man but lacks the talent to justify it. On a contending team, it’s hard to see a clear role for him—maybe as a 10-minute bench player, if you’ve got the defensive scheme to cover for his weaknesses.

This is a product of the new CBA. No one is going to sign him to an offer sheet that beats the Warrior's offer. The structure of the contract is such that it will maximize what the Warriors can get back in a trade for Kuminga. Kuminga will be forced to sign it in the end. His only option is to sign the $8 million QO and walk in a year. At worse he gets paid an extra $14 million for a year and becomes a free agent if the team declines the option. More likely he gets traded somewhere and signs a longer term more lucrative contract in 2 years. His posturing right now is just that.

^ No offense, but who cares? Largely irrelevant player/team that BSPN is predictably hyping/pressuring through the roof because of his ties to their pets.

The second he's gone, which is almost certainly trade deadline at the latest (I hope he signs the QO and stick it to them), is the moment he fades into oblivion.

The Pelicans, Suns, Kings and to a lesser extent Bulls and Raptors, are all trying to out stupid each other.

I may be mistaken, but I seem to recall you being CEO of the "2026 Free Agent Class is Stacked, Headlined by Luka Doncic" Corporation. Apologies if I am misremembering.

In any event... great players don't become Free Agents and expectations should be adjusted to this reality. The real "cap space" is having all sorts of different contracts and assets available for matching in trades.

True, but great players also leverage upcoming free agency to steer their way into their preferred team, especially when said team has the ability to sign them outright in the near future. The mere threat of that happening is a powerful incentive to land one such player for cheap, as we saw with Fox. Having a clean book and assets at your disposal really does pay off, that's a big part of why I'd like the Spurs to get off the Vassell contract before it's too late, even if the return is underwhelming.

I probably mentioned him as part of the class, pre-Finals appearance. At the time, our best PG was Tre Jones. Now, we have options.

It was a stacked class. Now, it’s pretty much Trae, plus any RFAs from this year who sign their QOs.

After all extensions are done the 2026 free agent class is going to be as barren as this year’s. The teams with significant cap space - Wizards, Bulls, Jazz - will still be in the business of acquiring bad contracts for assets not significant free agents.

Free agency is pretty much dead and as we see teams now don’t want to hand out long contracts even at MLE money.

I think it's less about willingness to hand out money, cause big extensions are common, and more about the quality of player that makes it to UFA is much lower than in the recent past making cap room less valuable. The recruiting is done when the player has a year or two left on their contract, like Fox.

When the Fox made it known to the Kings that he wanted out, there was no reason for the Kings to deny the Spurs permission to talk to his agent and start negotiating the future. I wouldn't be surprised if Fox's extension was basically agreed to before the trade was even finalized. There's always the risk of a major injury in between just this is the way things seem to work now.

Luca indeed looks slimmer
Franz really worked on his jumper
Balkan refs sucked (50+ FTAs for SLO)
GER pretty much in control all game long

But they need Schröder und Theiss to make any noise at the tournament.

Christian Anderson with a nasty transition dunk and a three but he really looks small running with the grown ups, don't see him making the jump from Texas Tech to the NBA next summer...

...anyone seen him playing at TTU? I just saw him dominating the under19 world championship but how is he doing with older and bigger competition?

The Spurs have signed guard Adam Flagler, a former Baylor teammate of Jeremy Sochan and 2021 NCAA champion. Flagler, who went undrafted in 2023, helped the OKC Blue win the G League title and earned a ring with the Thunder last season. Now he’ll fight for a roster spot in San Antonio.

FlAVaK
08-09-2025, 03:54 AM
Flagler recently played on the Hawks team at Vegas Summer League and his odds of making the Spurs are modest. This looks like a training camp invite, so unless the 6’3” guard impresses in preseason or injuries open a backcourt slot, he’s likely bound for Austin in the G League.

Flagler is a capable catch-and-shoot threat and smart off-ball mover with championship-level experience at multiple levels. He’s not a high-usage creator but could fit as a situational floor-spacer and secondary ballhandler. During his most recent stint in Vegas, Flagler showed he can score efficiently in burst opportunities, particularly impressive in per-48 metrics.

This. their last three matchups were extremely intense, competitive affairs and none was carried on National TV.

If the Spurs make the playoffs, most likely as a lower seed, Denver would be the matchup I prefer for them. I want Wembenyama to measure up against the best at his position, too see from up close what will take to carry a team with Championships aspirations. Can he handle a Jokic-like 38-42 minutes load while being the main target of every playoffs scheme of the opposing team? Questions that needs to be answered about his stamina/strength (especially post-clot issue) and offense (lack of go-to-move vs swarming defense) are what makes the urgency of making next post-season palpable.

tbh, he'll probably be fat again by the end of the season. And I don't think him being fat was the reason he's been a shit defender for a while now, I just think he doesn't care on that end.

Too bad for Luka he's a perimeter player and that extra weight makes him even worse defensively.
I’ve long given up hope on him being a good defender :lol
Just play zone

I'm sure that would work with Lebron/Ayton/Reaves lineups.
Having a historic offensive season is Lakers' only hope because their defense will be tragic even if DPOY Smart makes an appearance.

Tbh if LeBron would just bite the bullet and play PF then that team would have a chance being a contender with the right moves at the trade deadline. He’s too old to be on the perimeter and chasing people around. Every West team has major flaws in it besides OKC for one more year and making the WCFs should be their goal. But as the team is now it would take Luka going nuclear to get past round 1.

As much as I bitch and moan about Wright, he’s clearly on the top half of GMs in the league. I was just spoiled by having a top 5 GM for so long. But Palinka is clearly on the bottom half of GMs. Like the dude had to build around prime AD and all star level LeBron and couldn’t do it. Now he has a better player in Luka and if I’m a Laker fan I have zero confidence that he can build around him either. Luka needs shooters and athleticism and defense and their big acquisitions this summer was no motor Ayton and the corpse of Smart.

Just looking at the West right now and seeing how the dynamics of the teams take place. The Spurs are going to be a lot closer to contenders than most here want to admit. Everyone here wants to hoard our picks but now is the time to use them on a trade for a veteran. We are clearly one piece away from being out of the play-in game and firmly into the playoffs and one Carter Bryant hit from being a legit contender this season.

It took him until age 26 to realize this is what he should do? He lacks discipline, and this won’t last.

The embarassment of the trade gave him extra motivation this offseason. Especially once he sees that his team just isn't a contender as currently constructed the lure of beer and pizza will be too strong to resist.

He's spending more time in LA around beautiful people now, rather than the middle school educated, big haired Karens in Dallas. Sometimes that's all it takes to get a young man in shape.

It's funny hearing people talk about basketball players like they're beyond human sometimes. Is 26 years old "too old" to be working on your discipline now? Must 20yos have it all together from the jump?

I've met far too many 30s, 40yos who don't have a lick of Luka's discipline or work ethic (if you think he turned out as good as he did without them, you're just wrong). Sometimes people need that bitch-slap in the face that life gives you, and then they just grow up and put it all together. Progress isn't linear.

And additionally, considering he was dragging the Mavs to the NBA Finals last season while in much worse shape, I'm not sure he was missing all that much, or needs to have it "last" all that long, to cross the finish line, tbh.

The AI inaccuracies and mispronunciations were worth the time lost watching this. D'Aaron Fox is making "229 dollars million" gives me faith, hope and strength to postpone my worry about being replaced in the workforce any time soon.

On the b-ball side of things, I'm psyched to see year 3 Wemby. I could imagine a scenario where he averages 25-30 ppg, 10+ rebs, 4 assists and 4 blocks if he is getting 32-36 mpg. It will take the young guns a good chunk of the season to adjust to playing with him, I predict. There's nothing to prepare even an NBA-quality baller what it's like to have that alien on the floor with you.

Though he's been pretty panned on this forum, I'm hopeful that Mitch shows us why he's been called an "evil genius" and a "maestro." I recall the energy the team had when he first took over as head coach last season. The rotations improved, the offensive flow and defense became more akin to what we knuckleheads had been clamoring for here. There was a bit of a regression after a couple of weeks and that could be for a multitude of reasons, including trying to go back to Pop's schemes and approaches.

Good god, I'm ready to watch some games!!!!

I've shared this story before, but my dad passed in 2012. I grew up in San Antonio, but HE is the reason I am a Spurs fan.

The last time I saw him alive was watching a Spurs game with him.

I get that they're projecting, but Castle being ranked 66th (30 spots higher than J. Johnson, a possible All-Star next season) is still ridiculous. He's probably the most overrated player in the league right now.

Some contract details about the last signings:
https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2025/08/contract-details-gill-potter-spurs-clippers.html

- The non-guaranteed contracts that Micah Potter and Adam Flagler signed with the Spurs contain both Exhibit 9 and Exhibit 10 language, Hoops Rumors has confirmed. Potter and Flagler would each earn bonuses worth $85,300 if they’re waived by San Antonio and then spend at least 60 days with the Austin Spurs in the G League.
- Both Riley Minix and Harrison Ingram simply accepted their two-way qualifying offers when they re-signed with the Spurs, so their two-way deals are both one-year pacts that include partial guarantees of $85,300 apiece.

If Spurs can have Flagler and Potter in Austin, the gleague team should be very strong. A Flagler/Jones-Garcia/Ingram/Minix/Potter is quite impressive especially given than none of these players will be a gleague rookie. It would be good for Bryant if/when he is send down there.

It's also nice to get the color variety with a grey alt. Last season SA had the black and whites but then the SATX alts were also black and the City ones were blue but there was no silver/grey, just the redundant two black versions.

This one, just with swapped colors, obviously.

I just love how the silver and especially the black color is an iconic Spurs NBA jersey in the same way the Celtics' Green, Lakers' yellow and the Bulls' red are. The Nets desperately tried to steal/mimic that style when they redesigned and made over their franchise after their Brooklyn move. It never caught on especially when they kept signing washed up stars and mercenaries with zero lasting impact on the jersey sales and prestige. Same for the Clippers who run that main black alternate jersey for years before pulling the plug. Black is just a Spurs thing. You really can't tinker much with it outside few white/silver stripes.

Yet sources say that the Pelicans, to be clear, have batted away calls for the 25-year-old, valuing him highly. The Warriors and Spurs are showing interest in Trey Murphy III, per @JakeLFischer (https://x.com/JakeLFischer)
“Sources say that the Warriors have a strong affinity for Murphy and have made outreach to New Orleans as recently as this summer. Yet sources say that the Pelicans, to be clear, have batted away calls for the 25-year-old, valuing him highly. The two-way forward will be playing on a contract in 2025-26 — at precisely $25 million — as desirable as his talent. Another team known to have registered trade interest in Murphy, sources say, is San Antonio.”

TMIII would be the ideal wing for us. If we could get him while losing some combo Vassell, KJ or Sochan, that would be ideal. Dumars is right guy for that job.
If we could do this like the Fox trade and go light with the picks, it's a home run. Probably comes down to how high the Pels would value Kuminga vs. Vassell.

TMIII would put us 1 strong rebounding, defensive, 3-ball competent PF away from being for real, for real.

David Jones-Garcia (number 8 in blue jersey) hits someone from the Argentina in the face during a brawl. The Dominican Republic beat Argentina 84-83 in the AmeriCup

I think this was due to it being competitive game that went to OT and Dominican Republic also beat Argentina back in 2023 as well.

Could there be the bones of a three team deal with the Hawks/Pelicans/Spurs?

Hawks get their 2027 pick back from the Spurs
Pelicans get their 2026 pick back from the Hawks plus Vassell
Spurs get TMIII

Maybe a Hawks/Pelicans/Spurs deal could happen

Hawks get their 2027 pick back from the Spurs
Pelicans get their 2026 pick back from the Hawks plus Vassell
Spurs get TMIII

Tweak it from there but those are the bones.

TMIII would be a huge pickup for us and on a team friendly contract. I wonder how serious those reports are about acquiring him.

That firebrand energy would breathe some life back into the Frost Bank Center.

HOU just lost their floor general (and 2nd best player in the Playoffs) for the season. Huge loss tbh.
