No I'm not. I'm basing it on all the music they were producing since the late 70's. And just because they covered a Neil Diamond song doesn't make them less Reggae. Tony Tribe covered that same song in 1969 and it never made a dent in any music scene outside of Jamaica.

No I'm not. I'm basing it on all the music they were producing since the late 70's. And just because they covered a Neil Diamond song doesn't make them less Reggae. Tony Tribe covered that same song in 1969 and it never made a dent in any music scene outside of Jamaica.Frankly, I had to wikipedia UB40 and the first stuff they put out was in 1980.

The Clash did do reggae covers in their career but didn't play Reggae exclusively. The reason I brought up UB40 is because that is all they play. They are a true Reggae band. The Clash played punk and rock tunes as well as Reggae covers.
"I Got You Babe", "Light My Fire" and "Can't Help Faqlling In Love" are reggae tunes?

Yes, I am serious. How is it that you have such a hard time accepting that people in here are writers?oh, it's not the accepting i'm having trouble with. first of all, back when I brought it up in our earlier spat, I said it because I normally have verbal spats with writers. The singer in my metal band was a writer. he was a loud mouthed know it all and I couldn't stand it. I still can't get over the fact what midge said about The Police. I'm in no ways offended, but.............

American pop singles have been remade my Reggae artists since the early 60's. A lot of the Rocksteady artists were highly influenced by early R&B artists. The Paragons made it big in Jamaica with their cover of "The Tide is High".
