UNT Eagles 2016

At least Dez and Tyron are okay... losing La'el isn't the end of the world, we almost won a championship with Leary a couple years ago, we'll be fine as long as Tyron, Travis, Zack, Dez, Cole, Jason, Zeke, Sean, Byron, Morris, and DeMarcus stay healthy.

Will see if Cowboys make any trades to get some DE's latter down the road.....Wonder if there are any free agents out there that haven't been signed.....
Only elite one out there is Hardy and now he'll likely be suspended.
DeMarcus is elite, but we're not going to win with only one legit pass rusher on only one side.

Dez has "slight hairline fracture" in right knee
Per Garrett
In his right tibia, officially, which is better news. I had the same thing happen to me in July when I banged my right shin hard into a metal toilet paper holder, knocking it off the wall.
It hurt a lot for the first few minutes, but it wasn't too bad after that. It swole up a bit, but one Aleve got rid of any pain even when walking around the house. No resting pain. A couple weeks of occasional dull pain in the area when walking around the office, but no limp and the pain wasn't severe enough for me to really wince or complain much about. I could run and do jumping jacks just fine, and didn't feel at all anymore in about 2 weeks. Could have played basketball or football the day after the incident if I wanted to.
Dez is fine.

Two things we know about Dez:
Dude can't properly secure a catch, and his refusal to get tackled leads to a significant injury every season.

Leary is a more consistent run blocker and a great pass protector against big guys and bull rushers.
Collins is more of a tackle and is hit or miss in the run game. He's probably better than Leary against speed rushers, but as a guard you're going to get bull rushed more often, and Collins seems to struggle against the bigger guys.

Cowboys have done a pretty solid job of replicating their 2014 season, or at least it's production thus far. Through 3 games, both teams are 2-1. The 2014 squad made their living on ball control and a better than advertised defense that generated turnovers.
Garrett said after drafting Elliott that the main benefit was being able to run the offense the way they want to, and so far he's been right. To think Elliott hasn't been spectacular is also a good sign :tu
Through the first 3 games:
Total Rushing Yards
2014 - 470
2016 - 402
Passing Yards
2014 - 620
2016 - 753 :lol better than Romo
Turnovers generated
2014 - 5
2016 - 5
Time of Possession 2016
Cowboys - 34:57
Opponents - 25:02
Ezekiel Elliott with 274 on 71 attempts vs 30 total attempts for all other runners. After 3 games he is on pace for around 1500 rushing yards. Not bad considering he has shared a good number of carries w/ the others. Overall, not a bad start minus the injury bug.

Agreed. That's what being raised by a mother and grandmother with no father and no adult male influence will do to ya. Paying for mechanics and outdoor chores like bi-weekly lawn mowings during the spring and summer were the norm for me. I did help clean the house and work pretty well with food, though, so that's a plus.

Hope we get a good season this year out of him as a good filler option, win a SB, his price soars, Butler goes relatively unknown, and our team integrity remains intact for next season with Williams paid elsewhere and Butler kept on a pretty team-friendly 3-4 year deal for about 2-2.5 million a season as a solid outside WR #2.
We better damn well re-sign Claiborne and Terrell McClain long-term NOW, though... that is IMPERATIVE.

Agree on that one, it gets called 10-15% of the time, but it's still irresponsible. Better to just drop the ball or throw it to the ref and get the hell away from anybody on the other team for the next few seconds.
The same thing got called today against Mike Wallace after his late 4th quarter touchdown and that cost the Ravens crucial field position and arguably the game.

Getting stuck with players in ridiculously long contracts is why we sucked for so many years. Look at Marion Barber. :lol Just because someone plays well for 4 games doesn't mean you rush to lock em up all of a sudden. Let that man play a full season before you break the bank
Assuming Mo' keeps this up he gets a 2 year deal tops. Flexibility is key man, you should know this considering you're allegedly a Spurs fan too.. same concept
I'd rather pay him 5 million a year long term than 10+ million a year for 2 years and risk losing someone on the OL or Demarcus Lawrence or somebody
Of course we can terminate the Romo contract in 2018 without eating dead money if we want so that helps... Dak is up in 2020.

As I've said repeatedly since August, the most likely return date is October 30th against the Eagles... denying big media their vaunted rookie vs. rookie NFC BEast matchup. Meh. The Eagles may be 6-0 and we'll be either 4-2 or 3-3.

Yeah, and it's funny because watching you can see the fuck up coming a MILE AWAY.. When Williams had that 50 something yard catch and run and starts trying to get cute with it clearly cornered near the sideline, I was like "awww fuck, he's gonna get stripped" - and sure enough, stupid piece of shit coughs it up and blows the play that would have made his previous weeks blunder a little easier to deal with.

Yes. I remember it clearly, too. Leary got injured in week 1 last year and was replaced by Bernadeau. Bernadeau was absolutely dreadful, contributed to letting the Romo collarbone injury that game happen, and was replaced by young rookie Collins very quickly. Leary didn't get healthy until much later last season and by then Collins had already played most of the season at LG and we felt he had more potential so we left them there and Leary was the odd man out.

Mike Fisher reported that Bailey slept wrong, but Fish had guessed that he slept wrong several days before, so I don't really trust the report, particularly since he and 105.3 completely whiffed on the seriousness of Bryant and Tyron's injuries. The Cowboys are trying to emulate the Patriots on injury reports, but they are doing it wrong and just lying and obfuscating. The Patriots just say "we aren't going to tell you".

Will he or will he not; with an apology to Shakespeare, that is the question. Fans have been looking forward to the return of DeMarcus Lawrence to give the team a boost to its pass rush. That may not happen for a pair of reasons. First Lawrence has not seen any on the field work in about six weeks and it takes time to get back into game shape. There is also a little factor involving his back. Lawrence says it is not an issue, but things are slowly leaking out that his back might not be fully recovered from off-season surgery. Who knows? A lot seems to depend on how Lawrence responds to close out the week.

A stud running game makes everything so much easier.
third and short, so no pass rush.
long sustained drives,giving your D a blow.
8 in the box so what's that do for your receivers?
protecting a lead, running the clock down.
wearing down a defense.
your QB takes less of a beating.

Think about it this way.
In 2014, the Cowboys had just won 4 straight weeks after being embarrassed on Opening Day at home by the Niners... for a 4-1 overall record.
The next game was, unfortunately for the Cowboys, a certain loss in Seattle against the 3-1 Seahawks, who had only lost one home game in the past 20 and had just won the Super Bowl.
Nobody thought the Cowboys' middling-at-best defense without a pass rush would be any good against Russell Wilson and that high powered attack, and the Seahawks defense had allowed the least rushing yards per game in the NFL, so they were going to shut down Murray forcing Romo to pass pass and throw enough picks to lose the game badly. The Cowboys were not given a chance to win the game, and the Seahawks were heavily favored and unanimously chosen by ESPN to win by at least a touchdown (in one case, by 28 points).
The Cowboys had a flashy start to the season, yes, but there was no way in hell they were going to be good enough to keep it close in Seattle against RW, the LOB, and the loudest fans in the world.
The outcome of that one?!!?!?????

The athleticism in the combo of Claiborne on man coverage, with Jones helping over the top is unreal. I have been one of Claiborne's biggest haters here, and I'm glad as hell he's shutting me up. I'd first wait to see how his season ends before I get the anointing oil tbh.. Unless the deal was made heavily based on performance and flexibility for the Cowboys, you just can't lock up these kind of players to deals like that anymore.. Even though it's only a little more than 5 a year..
For a team that essentially just hit the draft jackpot netting a franchise QB AND RB in the same draft (when was the last time a team did that Avante) they need to have that freedom next season and the years after to swap pieces in and out as they see fit. Look at Carr.. They would have put a rookie in his place for sure if he wasn't on that dumb ass contract.

We don't need Scandrick for now. He wasn't good in weeks 1 or 2 and he might be worse than Brown at this point unless he's 100% healthy.
I still think we need to give McClain the linebacker a chance to return and start if Jaylon Smith can't return this season... MLB, that's the one position that's going to rear its ugly head in the playoffs if we don't do something about it in the regular season.
Whether Gregory returns game 11 or 15, you've got to give him snaps next to Lawrence in 5 man long down and distance rushing situations... that'd be impossible for the offense to block.

1. Carr has been better than a rookie this season... he's not our best, but he's been far from horrible on the right side.
2. If we wait until the offseason, he's going to command 9-10 million dollars a year. That's not worth it. But you see how bad the Panthers defense has been without Norman. Losing your stud CB1 loses you football games.

And a surprisingly good defense that is far better than big media made it out to be.
Even when the Bengals were desperate late in the game... the Cowboys forced them to use 7 and 5 1/2 minutes off the clock, respectively, to drive the field and score two meager touchdowns that were too little, too late...
4 sacks (plus the 5th that was nullified by a stupid call) and heavy pressure practically every pass play?
Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME? The Cowboys D-Line is GOOD??! Our D-Line looked top 5 NFL today after looking bottom 10 the previous 4 games... just absurd... D-Lawrence is back. No sacks for him, but he was commanding doubles allowing the interior tackles to get through and create easy pressure on Dolton...
plus, the coverage and the tackling in the secondary is just incredible for us this year...

Look, if Romo had sucked when healthy I would get the controversy, but in the few games where Romo was healthy the past few years Dallas Absoultely dominated and looked basically unbeatable. Then Dez got hurt and Romo and the back up QB was terrible.
Dak has been great, but Romo earned the right to start.
I'd tend to agree, but he's delicate. Tissue paper holds up better in a hurricane than Romo does.

What a great spot to be in for Dallas. They are totally set at the QB position for the next decade.
I'm a bit wishy washy as far as Romo coming back goes. Prescott is without question the real deal, but Romo when healthy is without question one of the elite QB in the league.
Put Romo back in there I suppose, he has earned that respect and I get this feeling Prescott gets it.

Double edged sword. There were two different occasions where Prescott saw someone open near the sideline and threw the ball at their feet. Romo always thinks he can make that throw, regardless of the game situation, and certainly would have put it up for grabs. I kind of prefer the guy who knows he can probably make the throw, but knows it's not worth the risk. Romo has yet to actually learn that.
All kind of academic anyway, because as I've said before, the first time Romo gets hit, he'll be out again. He's taken four hits the last two years and three of them have caused him to miss long stretches.

I think the Cowboys have their eyes on much more than just a division title. A win on Sunday would give them a bit of a leg up on, hmm, perhaps a playoff bye? While a loss wouldn't completely destroy the chance for that, but we'd better root for the Vikings along the way to win that division. Division winner is the only thing that trumps head to head.

third and short
wear down a defense
no INT's
