I think Demarco's workload is a big red flag at this point... he was already leading the NFL in carries by a mile and got 29 more today... he's currently on pace for 424 carries which would set an NFL record (larry johnson had 416). Johnson had 41 receptions that season, Murray is on pace for 48.

Larry Johnson noticeably declined after that season, and its not like Murray has been a poster-child for durability. They need to give Randle more carries or they're just going to wear Demarco out

Yeah, I agree. They did use Randle and Dunbar more this game, but used Murray to ice the game. We'll probably see them getting even more work in the coming weeks.

"Fresh off an upset victory over the Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink on Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys are currently the toast of the National Football League. In the midst of their best run in well over five years, Jason Garrett and Co. should be taken seriously as contenders in the NFC.But let’s be real for a second here, this has been a long time coming. In the past, Dallas found every possible way to trip over itself, both on the field and from a front office standpoint. And in doing so, the franchise had become somewhat of a joke around the NFL.That time has clearly come to an end.Let’s take a look at five moves (mostly under-the-radar) that has the Cowboys among the top teams in the NFL heading into the midway point of the season."Read more: http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/five-moves-that-made-the-cowboys-into-contenders/ar-BB96TSf

Look at it this way..maybe Parnell makes the most of it and outplays Free. This would allow us to focus on the defensive line early in the draft instead of addressing RT. The first play he's in DeMarco springs free for a TD on the right side, so I'm hopeful. Will be rewinding the game a lot this Sunday during right side run plays.

manufan10
10-15-2014, 10:51 AM
The only thing I'm worried about is the continuity. Hopefully, like you said, Parnell does a great job and become Free's replacement.

I hope Randle just messed in his shorts and didn't have his wallet on him, so he decided to steal. It kind of makes sense that way. Just straight up shoplifting underwear and the sample cologne doesn't make sense.

Joseph Randle to endorse MeUndies
In the span of less than a week, Dallas Cowboys (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/dal/dallas-cowboys) running back Joseph Randle (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/16013/joseph-randle) has gone from stealing underwear to becoming a spokesman for it.
MeUndies -- a Los Angeles based lifestyle brand that is transforming how people perceive and purchase their underwear -- is now partnering with Randle, according to MeUndies head of marketing and business development, Dan King.
MeUndies will pay Randle enough to help defray the cost of the $29,500 fine the Cowboys imposed on him after he was caught shoplifting last week (http://espn.go.com/dallas/nfl/story/_/id/11705869/joseph-randle-dallas-cowboys-fined-shoplifting-charge-play-sunday-jason-garrett-says) while also supplying him with enough product that the Cowboys running back will have all the underwear he needs for a long time.

Outside of a major injury occurring I think you guys will be just fine. One real game out of your next four (Which I want Dallas to win btw :lol), but that back end stretch of Bears, Eagles, Colts should be interesting. But by then you'll be really close to having a playoff spot wrapped up IMO.

Cowboys opponent combined record-

15-26

The win at Seattle is now not as impressive with Seattle's 2nd consecutive loss yesterday, and the loss at the 49ers is bigger than it was then as the 49ers are not playing like a Super Bowl contender so far this year either.

He’s used it to really have a lot of strength work. It’s something that he didn’t do as much [in college] as he’s doing now. He’s had quite a physical improvement.”

Okoye is back on the D-line

http://www.foxsports.com/southwest/story/cowboys-dt-amobi-okoye-returns-for-first-practice-since-coma-102314

After 17 months away from the sport -- not to mention going through a medically-induced coma -- it's understandable that Amobi Okoye was excited to return to football practice.

"It was hard to sleep," Okoye said Thursday afternoon.

It's one thing to return from an injury, but Thursday marked Okoye's first practice after suffering from anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis, which resulted in him being placed in a coma for three months while he underwent treatment in the summer of 2013.

Okoye lost 78 pounds during that stretch, and he agreed that it didn't seem likely he'd ever be fit to return to an NFL field.

"To be honest with you, no. After you go through what I went through, you never know what the heck is going to happen later," he said. "I'm just fortunate and blessed to be where I am now."

That's been a long journey, to say the least. Okoye was discharged from the hospital in August of 2013, and the Cowboys signed him to a minimal risk contract on May 16 of this year. He wasn't heard from again all summer, while doctors monitored him for signs of the seizures or memory problems that marked his sickness.

"It's been real tough, just knowing the fact that you might not actually get to do what you get to do anymore, and having that ability right now is priceless," he said.

Doctors cleared Okoye for contact in August, but the Cowboys have been moving slowly with him. The team placed him on the Non-Football Injury list, which took him off the active roster during the season. He has spent the last eight weeks working with strength and conditioning coach Mike Woicik during team practices.

"His story is amazing, and a guy like that who works real hard, I see him all the time working with Coach Woicik in one-on-ones," said linebacker Bruce Carter "Just to see him actually be out there with his teammates and just to see it pay off for him is a good thing."

Okoye was the No. 10 overall pick by Houston in the 2007 NFL Draft. Even with that much talent, he said it was strange to be back in a full practice -- a place he hasn't been since 2012.

"I don't really know how to explain that. I mean I don't know. I really think it felt -- sometimes it felt normal and sometimes it felt weird," he said.

At this point, all the Cowboys would have to do to get the defensive tackle into a game is open a spot on the 53-man roster. That's likely still a ways off, but Okoye said his first day back was a strong start.

"I think it was a really good day today, for the first day. There was a lot of progression and I think I did some good things," he said.

Exactly. 19 runs for DeMarco is not what's been working. Couple that with the majority of Romo's passes being overthrown, they're gonna lose 100% of their games. Hell, look at the TD for Bryant. That was another shitty pass, most receivers wouldn't have caught that. Gotta give a lot of credit to their DB's, Breeland was a fucking beast last night.

You can see that the Redskins really studied the tape of Romo. They completely shut down his spin move last night.

Also - Anyone catch Jeff Heath get decimated on a blind block on the big punt return in the first half? :lol

I never said that. 19 carries is decent for a lot of teams, but isn't what the Cowboys have been reliant upon. Key mistakes doomed the Cowboys, like the DeMarco Murray pointless fumble where he was fighting for an extra 2 inches of ground.

Tony Romo’s back injury that caused him to miss several series in the loss to Washington may have been more serious than previously let on.

According to ProFootballTalk (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/10/29/romo-could-end-up-missing-time-with-back-injury/), one league source with knowledge of the situation currently believes Romo will miss time with the latest back injury. The injury is reportedly a contusion, but thankfully it is in a different spot from on his back than the one that required late-season surgery in 2013. The team will await more information from doctors regarding his condition.
As noted by Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, coach Jason Garrett has been all over the place regarding Romo, from saying he anticipates Romo will play to calling that speculation

Man, the Cowboys defense picked a bad time to go soft and start missing tackles. And one of Murray's strengths had been his pass protection, but he was off big time. The Redskins came in with a good game plan. Haslett and Gregg Williams always seem to have a good game plan against the Cowboys.

Hopefully Romo will be able to play this week. I don't want any part of Brandon Weeden starting.

Like I said in another thread, I hope you guys aren't in the wildcard race, I hope you outright win the division. I don't want that game to become a deciding factor in the wildcard race if we don't win our division. I have no ill feelings toward that game, teams don't go undefeated (that often) so every team is bound to lose. As long as we get into the playoffs that's all that matters. Indi, S.F, and Arizona beat us last year, so what :lol

11-01-2014, 11:29 PM
Concerned about team chemistry after a loud verbal disagreement between Dez Bryant and Joseph Randle carried over onto the practice field Friday, Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett met individually with those two players and an equally incensed Josh Brent later that day and then discussed the subject with the entire team on Saturday, according to league sources.

The meeting was described as tense, and Garrett seriously considered whether Randle's continued presence on the team might be an impediment to harmony in the locker room.

When asked if Randle would play on Sunday against the Cardinals and remain part of the team, one source answered, "Randle is staying for now."

Randle is the backup to NFL rushing leader DeMarco Murray and his role has increased in recent weeks as the Cowboys attempt to avoid overworking Murray.

Bryant and Brent were furious about Randle mentioning their legal problems to Frisco police as he was being booked into jail for shoplifting charges. The tape has since become public, revealing to the players what Randle said about them while he expressed to the police concerns the Cowboys might suspend him.

While he may avoid further punishment from the team, Randle apparently has been ostracized by some teammates. The Cowboys fined Randle the equivalent of a game check for the shoplifting arrest.

But Buck and Aikman could barely enunciate his name while tag-teaming his knob early on. Greatest backup ever, apparently. Nobody on earth more qualified based on his previous NFL successes.

As a fan of a team whose line loss came with every QB besides Palmer, it certainly sucks to lose without the starter. But asshats belittling Arizona as worst 7-1 team need to tember this isn't a fluke, as Cardinals are 14-3 in last 17 games with home wins vs. Eagles, Chargers, 49ers, and road wins vs. Seahawks, Cowboys.

They shut down Murray. Only team to do so this year.

They stand you up, speed you up, and cover you right.

If it was that easy, everyone would do it.

And they've had as many defensive injuries as anyone.

They are only getting healthier.

No fluke.

I was looking forward to today for a month. I'm just as pissed Romo got injured. I wanted competition and a real test. Y'all be back with Romo. Murray is legit and while the line looked exposed last few weeks, Murray rushed for a solid per-carry average, so the line got some good push today.

Yeah I'm certainly confused as to why they're rushing him back, especially against a sub par team like JAX. Unnecessary risk as they're better even without him. But, if he will not progress by taking time off, if it'll be a lingering issue until the off-season then it really doesn't matter with so much time left in the season.

Exactly, if the cowboys were smart they would sit him till the bye which is next week. It would give tony 4 weeks of recuperation, plenty of time to heal his injury. But no jerruh's dumbass needs Romo to play cause he signed an incompetent back up qb that he has no confidence in.

He's always going to be one play away from getting injured and the season being over, tbh... and from what I've gathered, this injury isn't that debilitating. It can't cause a more serious injury. If he's good to go then he should play.

Yup. The Cardinals didn't fear Weeden's arm at all. They were stacking 8 or 9 guys in the box and daring the Cowboys/Weeden to beat them through the air. Weeden couldn't make them pay. And Murray still had a decent day.

Don't underestimate Weeden's awfulness. Also, the injury to Romo's back is one that historically leads to a week off. I think the offensive line responds to the injury and pass protects Romo better than any other game this season.

It sucks that McClain and Crawford will miss the game, but on the bright side we get Leary and Free back to a full strength o-line.

Jerry will keep both. Lee McClain Durant Hitchens and Carter
http://i3.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/860/660/2e6.gif

Cowboys won't keep Carter and McClain, Carter is gone at the end of the year. He's a salary cap casualty, plus with Durant and Hitchens playing well they can worry about putting their cap room elsewhere.

Hopefully Romo feels a lot better this week. You could tell only having 3 nights rest really hurt him. Also lets see if the defense can make the Bears punt at least once this go around. We all know what happened last year.

Lee's contract is team friendly. If he doesn't play a percentage of snaps he doesn't make the money. I'd think the Cowboys would see how he plays next to McClain. They're both playmakers.

I love Dez too. I don't care about his "tantrums" on the sidelines. The best WR in Cowboys' history would do that all of the time without any hoopla. They always talked about his great leadership ability. With Dez he's throwing a "fit."

I just heard per espn that the recovery period is usually 3 days and Julio Jones had this type of surgery back in college. Julio was able to play the same week after he had this surgery, so it shouldn't be an issue for Demarco except that he'll miss practice this week.

Yeah I'd sit him out and let the hand heal properly. Don't wanna aggravate it and have to miss additional time. Besides the Colts have trouble defending the run I'm sure underwear thief and Dunbar can do work.

Especially since the Colts are 27th against the run or so. The o-line should be able to open plenty of holes for Randle and Dunbar. Randle has also shown some flashes of being able to carry the load for at least a game.

The dominant story with the Cowboys, though, is the idea that they have to get the monkey off their back to prove they’re for real this time around. And that’s just not fair. We repeatedly move the goalposts on athletes and teams like the Cowboys, setting them up in a space where they’ll need to prove they can win before immediately suggesting that they need to do something else for us to truly believe in them.
It wasn’t long ago that Romo and the Cowboys couldn’t beat the Giants in prime time, and then they did that (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/201209050nyg.htm). Before that, the Cowboys couldn’t win a playoff game, never minding that they they beat the Eagles in consecutive weeks in the 2009 season (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/dal/2009.htm) to win the NFC East and then advance past Philly. Now, Romo and his team needed to prove they could win a big game in December, even though he has performed almost exactly the same in December as he has in October (http://grantland.com/features/bill-barnwell-week-15-nfl/). It’s a series of arbitrary tests that are impossible to ever truly win.
With that in mind, this win that feels like some sort of more meaningful triumph will fade into a memory in a matter of weeks. If the Cowboys somehow fail to make the playoffs, this key December victory will escape into the ether for the subset of football fans who want to criticize Dallas for its inability to win when it counts. If they make the playoffs, chances are they’ll eventually lose, at which point all of the meaningful victories that got them to the playoffs — as well as any playoff victories they accrue — will be written off and ignored. The Cowboys deserve better. In fact, on Sunday, they earned better.

A game against Green Bay would be hell. There's no telling how our defense would hold up against the Pack offense. Against the Lions we'd have to contend with Megatron and whatever good luck charm the Lions play with every week. They also have a good defense imo.

Green Bay isn't nearly as good on the road...idk it depends
