An ok movie, nothing more
Maybe I hate the fact it was overhyped
Or maybe it just went over your head.

I do that all the time.
Most often when an actor I dont like is in that particular movie.
Take Chris Evans for example, he comes off as a major douche to me so I often avoid the movie he's in.
I would often badmouth a movie just because he's in whether the movie is good or bad.
That's not about liking it to be different, that's not liking it because you don't like an actor. Simple

Chris Evans was good in Scott Pilgrim, Sunshine, Captain America (even though the movie wasn't good), and The Avengers. He's got talent.

What did you just said? :wtf
I just gave you an example of what a contrarian is.
Its not about the actor, its about going against the popular opinion of what's being discussed.
I just pointed out I dont like Chris Evans because I recently saw The Avengers and he's in it.
I found the movie to be just alright, unlike the masses.
Chris Evans was good in Scott Pilgrim, Sunshine, Captain America (even though the movie wasn't good), and The Avengers. He's got talent.
Another case of being a contrarian when it comes to the actor himself.
I particurlary dont like him, others seem to.
I did like Puncture though, he's in that.

I really don't want to watch the film again but so often in that film I would think fuck that was stupid or umm what...?
You're making a very interesting assumption saying I purely didn't like it to be different... How would you explain me liking Batman Begins or TDK if I wanted to be different. I didn't like the film just because I didn't. There is many reasons and it sure wasn't to be different. What kind of person doesn't like a film purely to be different anyway?
It's pretty common, really. Some people make a conscious choice not to like things that are mainstream for hipster motivations. Some people just want to be contrary to be special. Some people end up not liking things that are popular because they're turned off by all the hype. Or because they've built up impossible expectations without even realizing it. And on and on. Like I said, it's common.
Didn't mean my comments to be an accusation, though. Just throwing out a theory. I tend to get suspicious about how much people are really letting themselves engage with something if they can't/won't articulate what it is they don't like.
Chris Evans was good in Scott Pilgrim, Sunshine, Captain America (even though the movie wasn't good), and The Avengers. He's got talent.

Felt like an incomplete movie. Nothing Happened. A lot of running around and nothing else. Basically revolves around one agent who doesn't want to die, with some half-assed references to Jason Bourne. Ending was sudden. I'll keep my Bourne Trilogy Blu-Rays.

Ted - 7.5/10 I liked the niche humor as it appeals to my age group. Marky Mark was left to be on his own with his Bawston sensibility and crude mannerisms so that was an appeal to offset the Peter Griffin-esque value of Ted the off-the-cuff bear that actually worked. Mila Kunis was as stunning and delicious as ever (even w/no discernible ass to speak of...). I laughed considerably at the creepy role played by one Giovanni Ribisi and that his obssession was definitely key in this movie.
Lawless - 8.5/10 Not a huge fan of the stiffness that resembled Tom Hardy's portrayal as Forrest Bondurant. However, it worked when contrasting his style amongst Shia L.'s youthful ambivalence and green methods of being the runt of the Bondurant family. As a huge fan of the mafia/mob/bootlegger genre, this movie was worthwhile and I'd watch it again on Blu-Ray or on T.V. Sad what happened to Cricket and the roles played by Gary Oldman and Guy Pearce were awesome. Special Agent Rakes was tremendously on point as a cretin and the whole questioning of his manhood scene while great could've been brilliant--along the lines of Robert DeNiro's bat scene in The Untouchables or somewhere closer to the camera scene between Jude Law's hitman and Paul Newman's anti-hero in Road to Perdition. I would recommend it for those looking for a movie to catch.

Deadwood Season 1 - 9/10
Pretty awesome. The atmosphere, dialogue, and characters are as entertaining as they come, you fucking cocksuckers. It makes you angry that it got cancelled early.
Deadwood Season 2 - 8.5
Still good, but the Western Shakespeare-ish vibe gets old and hard to follow. A lot of scenes may have been important but felt like boring filler. The new characters introduced didn't add much for me. Crazy finish though. San Francisco cocksucker. Oh yea, and color me fucking unimpressed with Anna Gunn although at least her role in Deadwood was shorter than Breaking Bad.
Season 3 - TBD
Hope it doesn't "end" too shitty but everything I've heard says it does unfortunately.

Yea, my brother and I talked about it for a while after the movie was over. It was pretty impressive. Another brother of mine is a Lieutenant so it kind of hits home for us in a sense. I'm not a big fan of how a lot of cops abuse their power, I'm glad this film showed the opposite, some guys who just really want to do good and their brotherhood.
It needs some nominations.

Really hit me hard. I lost my good buddy who was more like my brother in the streets of L.A. and I know those streets very, very well. Ray died in his prime at 32 years old. We had a lot of plans including writing screenplays ...when he got his 21 gun salute I was pretty proud and pretty pissed off. The early 90's came flooding back to me just by watching this movie.
A little embellishment but , for hollywood, actually pretty realistic. Most officers won't see this much action in a lifetime-but it would be a boring movie if hollywood actually stuck to complete reality.
South Central is pretty active, but so is Rampart and parts of the SF Valley for that matter. Now with asian gangs, latino,black,viets,etc.... all over so cali...it can get pretty eventful.
Funny how they make those thugs seem all hard core...but I see a different side. Biggest pussies in the entire world once they are all alone.
That mano- a -mano fight inside the guys house would never happen...good for hollywood entertainment but so much could go wrong that no officer in his right mind would ever do that-and no partner in his right mind would let him. Least of all because they hadn't even searched that house yet...
A lot of inaccuracies but a lot of good things in the movie.
Two thumbs way up.
I hope young people don't decide to become cops due to any glamorizing hollywood does of the cop life....and I sincerely hope no young officers take these movies to heart and try to identify with these actors doing a role- a job. A safe protected job. It is easy to portray a hero when you know that you aren't really in harm's way. I would have liked to see a little more fear and anxiety in the characters...but oh well.

Even though I knew Cruz wasn't really singing- I was blown away when she (acted) sang the song while her mother watched/listened - it seemed like such a passionate performance and the song itself was really powerful. Guess she is really a great actress.
Funny how I have always thought Cruz was great in her spanish speaking roles-but so so great in her english speaking roles. The accent, of course, but something else always seems to be missing when she does english speaking roles.

I wanted to include that in my review but didn't really want to get too negative, was going to be part of my "suspend belief" section. Granted it seemed like the only thing she couldn't pass was parallel park; but it's like "she can't drive" to the audience and then 30 min later, she is drifting, shifting gears, etc (does she even know how to drive standard?) Granted "does she know how to shoot" ... "no" ... "then drive" Yet she can toss grenades into hopefully (on the final 2 throws) unpopulated areas, lol

Al Madrigal used to do that as a living before he became a comic, then Daily Show correspondent.
I'm not familar with that name, has he talked about it much? I know someone who did it but didn't say it was that tough

Yet she can toss grenades into hopefully (on the final 2 throws) unpopulated areas, lol
Tossing grenades at an open area is easy, imo. For a girl her age, she could do that.

oh I know, just with the first one it was shown that the parking garage had no one around; the other 2 tosses, you just have to assume she checks, before throwing.
If they ever make a 3rd, they will have to get his CIA colleague more involved.

I do not wish for another Taken movie. 2 movies are enough.

Considering the open possibility that the sons of the mafia leader are still around (referenced before the mafia leader was pwned), there might be a sequel in the works. But I totally agree with you. This sequel felt watered down. The producers of this installment should have went out with a bang.

Sometimes film franchises don't know when to stop (Saw series) but I guess if they are making money why stop. Another Taken would make money

I was never really sold on the first Taken. Love Liam Neeson, just not crazy about this Taken franchise like so many people are. I hate that it's PG-13 too. I went with my bro for the heck of it.

Yeah those kind of movies should have enough so that it's R. I dunno, just my opinion

Just like Taken, Luc Besson (the Professional, 5th Element, etc) said there will be unrated version aka "French version". Such as in the first Taken when Neeson jams those metal poles into the legs of the guy; that was cut from the US release among other things.

R still carries a stigma and hurts box office, not gonna happen.

Yea, I hate that though. If Luc Besson actually directed it, Leon: The Professional style (rated R) the movie would really be the shit, honestly. I know Hollywood makes these decisions for families and more money, but f that. Making a badass action film of a guy that fights and kills so badass is affected in every scene because they have to write it to keep it PG13. Now I'm not saying all action movies have to be rated R, I just feel Taken is one of those that needs to be for my personal taste, imo.
Not sure if the next Die Hard is rated R, I doubt it, but the last one was ok as PG13. I just hate that though. Loved Die Hard with a Vengeance.

There should be something between PG-13 and R. I've seen some Rs which have been tame and some fucked. It's pretty wide. Here we have a middle. M is like PG-13 then MA is similar to a lot of Rs and then R is the extreme stuff - it works I guess

What are the scenes that they will include in the extended cut, and when are they releasing it?

The interview didn't say (it was the director not Besson, but still) what will be included just that there will be a extended cut; usually with the Besson produced films lately, the movie comes with both in the same case on release.
Here is the interview:

Finally watched Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=187779&page=2): 8.5/10
For me it is real close to MI: 3 (my personal favorite), still wish JJ Abrams could have come back to direct this (yes he did produce).
I'm glad the Dubai scene played out the way it did when Cruise had to swing/leap into the window, from the trailer it looked like he was going to "easily" make it even coming at a bad angle.
Definitely a movie I'll watch again.

Leaving Las Vegas - 1995
The peak of Nicholas Cage's acting career. A man decides to drink himself to death in Las Vegas. An unsettling tale, artfully done.
