Way better than the original. It was like the original had sex with The Raid Redemption and the end result was this movie. Way better then I thought it was going to be.

My Way (Asian movie) - 7/10. I admire the effort--despite the cheesy "running" plotline, but it was nevertheless interesting to see both main characters end up fighting for and against almost every major world power in WW2--witnessing imperialist Japan, Siberian Gulags, and the Normandy invasion.

I deducted 3 automatically for having Anne Fagaway being in the movie. Minus 3 more the massive black hole that was the plot/writing. Finally took 1 away for the mere fact that Batman was only Batman 3 fuckin times. Three times. Those were the main reasons why the movie was so bad. I don't even wanna talk about the Nolan fanboys who shot enough semen out to fill the great lakes.

I could probably write a 5 book series about why this movie is so fucking dumb but there's no point. It doesn't need to be said as it's already so clear as to why the movie is shit yet praised as if it's the best thing ever. Nolan is now about on par with M Night Shitmalan

Tree Of Life: (2011)
Pure garbage. They tried so hard to be overly artistic with imagery that it just dragged along. The plot was so basic that the intense imagery was way beyond a stretch. They could've cut about 40 minutes out of the movie and it would been much better, but still sucked.
The director probably thinks he's great with angles and depth, but he took it too far. It was worse than the run of the mill typical C grade movie. D from me.

True. Especially when Amon Göth took over, it's like "what was all the fuss over when we had such an awesome guy waiting to take the role of M?" I mean, she ended up dying anyways :lol .... Come to think of it, all of the Craig Bond movies have had really shitty evil plots. Why not let the local police take care of it?

Annette Bening? Agreed, sole redeeming aspect of the movie. If you liked her in Bugsy, you might want to see her in The Grifters, in which she lets it all hang out.
Yep, Grifters is a good film. Cusack at prime there, still a boy and it lights the film. Bening has some girl left in her still so it's nice.
Pat Hingle has a plum role and he uses it. It chugs a little on toward the end, but, still enjoyable.

7.9/10
I thought some parts were just self-indulgent director jerk-off moments....but then the next scene or the next dialogue bit was fuckin' awesome and I started thinking this might just be a mob cult classic someday (in the Tarantino league) ...then the director would jerk-off again....
Some parts were amazing - so it was worth the time - but you have to humor the director when he falls in love with himself here and there.

Meh, just looked it up...it was Chloe Sevigny and not Claire Danes...Chloe, Claire, same difference...it says;
The film garnered a great deal of media attention because of the explicit and unsimulated sexual content (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unsimulated_sex_in_film) of the final scene between Gallo and actress Chloë Sevigny (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlo%C3%AB_Sevigny), as well as a war of words between Gallo and film critic Roger Ebert (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Ebert), who stated that The Brown Bunny was the worst film in the history of Cannes,[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Brown_Bunny#cite_note-1) although he later gave a re-edited version of the film his signature "thumbs up (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thumbs_signal)".

The premise built up a suspense akin to the suspense in Taken. Halle Berry was really good as was Eklund. This could have been a better movie had the ending not been botched. What a fucking waste of a good film to have that crap ending.

I gave it about a 6.5, maybe a 7. They never did clarify if the Speaker of the House that was acting as POTUS (Morgan Freeman) was the same one that the main character supposedly told to fuck off in the past, via other SS agents talk before the attack. Angel Heart with Micky Rourke and Robert De Niro. It had it all as far as I'm concerned, had a great cast, blues, voodoo, violence, sex, a small part for blues legend Brownie McGee. Even heard some vintage Dr. John. From Harlem to New Orleans, perfect!

Here's an older one too that they show a lot of on the Western Channel "Firecreek." It's from '67 and has aged just splendidly. Fonda & James Stewart are the main players, but, the cast is just superb. James Best, Gary Lockwood and Morgan Woodward play Fonda's men, basically hired guns for the ranchers in that area. Stewart plays the sheriff in this broken down one horse town (Firecreek) where the men stop so that Fonda can heal from a gunshot wound. The danger these men possess is shown & hidden behind the writing. Inger Stevens plays the female role and she is fine here. It's a great film and should not be missed.

At the very end his fears come to fruition, but, it's muddled. Anybody else see this thing?

"The Good Witch"
It's a franchise series primarily on The Hallmark Movie Channel. I know. I know, but, it's thoroughly enjoyable. Stars Katherine Bell as a young woman who possesses powers. She moves to this small town (IL.) and the series (I think about 4-5 full length movies) examines her effect on this town, it's widowed police chief, whom she eventually marries, his children & father-in-law and the town's inhabitants. Some are kind. Some are not. Bell is simply captivating and plays the role in precise degrees, never missing an opportunity to cast her spell.
It's sheer perfection.

They've been showing "Paper Moon" from '73 on the cable a lot. It's fine. It loses something when it takes on Madeline Kahn, but, then a 1/2 hour later she is excised and the film finishes nicely. Ryan O'Neal could act then. Nice range in the character.

I knew something was up with Iron Man 3 the moment I heard the narration. This movie is so tonally different from the other Iron Man movies that it's jarring. I can't imagine watching all three back-to-back, because how different the third one is would be even more distracting . While the jokes weren't unfunny, they felt completely out of place most of the time. The whole thing just felt weird, and the tint from the shitty 3-D glasses I wore (I don't know why I paid $17 dollars to watch a blurrier, darker version of the film) didn't help.
The first part was most Iron Man-like. Then Stark's house gets blown up and he goes wandering around Tennessee. The movie then becomes Kiss Kiss Bang Bang with a weird kid and lava people. Throughout all of this, I wonder, "Where's War Machine?" Then I think, "Where's Pepper Potts?" Then, I think, "Where's everybody who isn't Tony Stark?" I think the entire plot is just an excuse for Robert Downey Jr. to vainly show his face, because that's what he does. For the majority of the movie, he's either putting on an Iron Man suit, switching suits, or not wearing a suit at all. The entire climax is him switching suits, and while I think him building three dozen new suits makes sense in context, it lessens the value of the suits as a whole when they are so easily destroyed by Lava Guy Pearce and his lava henchmen. I miss the third suit from the first film. Every subsequent suit looks worse and worse. I would give a more in-depth opinion on the new, predominantly gold suit, but it is so seldom seen in its entirety that it would be kind of pointless. Basically, the gold looks stupid.
Speaking of the villains, I'm not going to even pretend that the Extremis virus made any kind of sense. I'm not going to even pretend that any of the "science" in this Sci-Fi movie made sense (or even attempted to makes sense). At least the first two movies got from point A to point B from a scientific standpoint, even if it was all bullshit. Iron Man 3 is just random, fire-breathing lava people with super strength. Ben Kingsley was entertaining. If I actually cared about The Mandarin in anyway, I'd probably be butthurt about how he was handled. But since I don't, I think the twist was okay, even though it was kinda done last year in a certain other superhero movie. Hopefully, that doesn't become the standard in action movies now.
tl;dr: Iron Man 3 = Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - Val Kilmer + Weird Kid + Uncharted + MacGyver + Lava People + The Guard, with Iron Man suits occasionally making appearances. It's not a bad movie, but it's not an Iron Man movie. It's like Live Free or Die Hard: it's good, but it doesn't fit in with the rest of the movies in the series.

How can you not like Headhunters? That movie is badass and has a lot of twists and turns. Are you the type that hates subtitles because you have to read words on the screen? I've never understood that type. Fuckin' lazy if you ask me. And the main guy's wife was hot. I watched Killing Them Softly and the movie was so-so. I'd give it a 6 out of 10. Brad Pitt isn't even in the first 25 minutes of the movie, the story is a little show, and the action is sparse. I did like the line "America is a business" and the line about everyone being on their own.

I recently got on board the first 7 hour leg of a 14-hour international flight, and the stewardess told me there were only 38 passengers scheduled to fly. Soo, my impression of this movie is colored by this very trippy and drunken flight. Decent enough airplane flick. Pretty bad actually, but let me just say that Qatar airlines rocks! They were serving up champagne in economy that day. What a flight...
Sean Penn looks drunk himself in this flick, and his scenery-chewing is the only bright spot in this overwrought mess.

Iron Man 3 - 5/10: Wanted more Iron Man and less Tony Stark and the Mandarin thing pissed me off because he was a bad ass for the first 75 minutes.
Silver Linings Playbook: Shit, prolly a 9/10 or maybe even 10/10. Rarely does a movie that doesn't involve action or comedy keep my attention like that.....plus Jennifer Lawrance is fucking hot.

This is what's keeping me from watching it.
I see the comedy genre tag and I just lose interest in it.
I'm hearing good stuff about it so I'm taking ya'll word for it and will watch tonight.

Brah, I wasn't offended by it. I ain't no Mandarin fan and I don't read the Iron Man comic books. I don't know if the movie would have been any better if the Mandarin had been played straight, but I wouldn't say it was worse. There are problems long before the Mandarin reveal that I would point out if I thought the movie was bad.

Yeah, saw Gatsby with full knowledge of what I was getting into. It's annoying that Luhrmann really had all the makings of a classic film but stupidly hedged his bets with the music and other bullshit that makes it a Baz Luhrmann film. Seems to have paid off at the box office though. Have to say the 3-D was really well done, more atmospheric than gimmicky.
6/10. worth seeing but damn, missed opportunity.
So did the movie miss Fitzgerald's whole point, as some reviews have said.

A lot of you will like it more.
Liked the set up, 1st half of the movie was very good imo.
Overdone drawn out climax and overdone mindless violence sunk it for me.
Outstanding SFX tho.

So did the movie miss Fitzgerald's whole point, as some reviews have said. You know, I read those reviews but don't really get them -- it's not like Luhrman changed the plot or anything. Of course he is going to focus hard on the parties and glamor, you simply have to spend the time and money on that to set up the bleakness of the ending. One reviewer bitched about the emphasis on the glitz then bitched about how it went away in the second hour -- well WTF did you think was going to happen?
There were some parts that were terribly hamfisted to be sure, and the bleakness and truth of it all was mostly reserved for Nick after the fact in a way that felt like a rerun of Moulin Rouge! -- but I can't think of a better way to work in the prose from Nick's narration. Of course that was overdone too, with actual words floating on the screen just in case we didn't know they were profound, but again -- this is what you're getting into with Luhrman.

Started watching Park Chan Wook's vengeance trilogy last night. All 3 movies are on Netflix.
I'm not going to grade the first one because I was left confused as hell about what went on. redzero you probably seen these films. Fill me in. lol
I thought the younger guy was the one seeking the revenge so where did that other guy came from and why did he kidnnaped the girl?
Serious inception moment here. :lol

I don't see what's hard to understand. Young, deaf guy kidnaps the daughter of the businessman to get ransom money for his sister's operation. Daughter dies accidentally, sister kills herself, businessman kills deaf guy and deaf guy's girlfriend, and deaf guy's girlfriend's friends kill businessman.
The End.

Meh Sympathy for Mr Vengeance was average I thought. Certainly nowhere near as good as other Korean films I've seen. I Saw the Devil was awesome

I tried watching that last night and couldn't get into it. Compounded by the fact Netflix has a very shitty quality of the movie made for a very uncomfortable 30 or so minutes that I watched.

lol silver linings playbook, so contrived, forced even. that chick from Winters Bone was unbearable to watch, she can't act, can't run, can't yell. 4/10
Jack Reacher - 7/10 solid flick, should have gone into more detail as to why the bad guys needed to take that person out, cause that was a pretty high profile, high risk way of going about it. also Reacher's last shot was an absurd Hollywood "good guy can hit a fly in a split second while moving, bad guy can't hit a barn he's been aiming at for 3 minutes while still" shot

Not really a movie, but a huge documentary series: The World at War.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/29/Worldatwar.jpg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_World_at_War)
Pretty amazing stuff. Wish they did an episode on the incredible weapons the Nazis had by the end of the war (the Me262 Schwalbe [first turbojet], the V-2, the Me163 Komet [rocket interceptor], their wooden stealth bomber, etc.), but still overall it was an outstanding series.
