After reading the preceeding pages (which I had missed while actually happening... damn :depressed) I have come to the following conclusion:

Anyone on this forum could get GiG to post both his SS# and his mother's maiden name if they argued with him long enough and he was convinced he needed to post these to "prove" himself. Of course, them about 6 posts later he'd take off saying the whole thing was a waste of his time....... but by then, with the info he had readily posted on the WORLD WIDE WEB , some enterprisinf Spurstalk members would have allready ruined his credit and have had him declared legally dead.

I tried the steak&salt thing. It takes a good 1/8" thick layer of salt on each side. Let it set for a few minutes so that it pulls enough moisture out of the steak to stick to it. It cooks very slowly, the salt must not be a very good conductor of heat.

I used regular table salt (the only kind I had). This presented a problem, as the fine grains of salt got lodged in the grains of the meat. Perhaps kosher salt or rock salt has larger grains and would rub off better.

Makes for a really salty steak with a huge prep time, but it cooks really slowly, so it is tender. If you want a similar taste, I would suggest "marinating" the steaks in a pan with an unsalted butter and garlic salt marinade in the oven for a few hours at 150 degrees or so (to keep it liquified, or try microwaving it a few seconds everyonce in a while) , then grill on a grill with charcoal or smoke chips. You probably would get a superior steak that way with much less hastle.

hmmmm. Good idea. And thanks for the info on the orig. recipie. I don't have the means to try it here , but I could've at my in-laws. I didn't want to tho unless I KNEW it was gonna be really good....

Clandestino - I know you don't get it. But with me and LJ, I'm not talking about a couple that already had a lot of time together and was separated every once in awhile. We lived 1500 miles apart ... the longest period of time we'd been together was the five days when we first met. I would fly to San Antonio every Friday night at 6pm and fly back to L.A. Monday morning on the 6am flight and go straight to work. We would talk on the phone six or eight hours a day. We hadn't yet had that "honeymoon" time where couples spend a lot of time together when they first meet. We knew we were going to get married the first time we ever met, so being apart sucked - really really bad. I cried everyday. LJ lost like 25 pounds in the first six weeks from not eating. And yes, he missed me in his bed enough that he slept on the floor. What can I say, I'm awesome :smokin
