Nothing wrong with that! My first two are very close in age also. People think they are twins sometimes. I figured they could entertain each other when they got older and leave me be (and they do)!

And we are really glad they are 2 girls, cause they can share a room for longer. (hey, I had to share a room, theres no reason my kids don't)

That is just an image. I'm sure the women in here have sounded "dumb" on many occasions. Jessica is one smart business woman.

I have said it a million times.
If you have nice boobs and a nice body, you will make cash.
If you show some have all that AND show a little skin, you will make twice as much.
If you have ALL that AND show some skin AND play the role of a dumb, helpless little angel, you will be FILTHY RICH.
Jessica Simpson has done that.

The Theme Song To This Thread:
Whatever you need,
Anything you want done, baby,
Ill do it naturally
Cause Im every woman
Its all in me.
Its all in me, yeah!
Chorus 1: Im every woman,
Its all in me.
Anything you want done, baby,
Ill do it naturally.
Chorus 2: Im every woman,
Its all in me.
I can read your thoughts right now,
Every one from A to Z.
Verse 1: I can cast a spell,
Of secrets you can tell,
Mix a special brew,
Put fire inside of you.
Anytime you feel danger or fear,
Then instantly
I will appear cause...
Chorus 1
Verse 2: I can sense your needs
Like rain unto the seeds.
I can make a rhyme
Of confusion in your mind.
And when it comes back to some good old-fashioned love,
Ive got it, Ive got it, Ive got it, got it, baby, cause...
Chorus 1
Chorus 2
Bridge: I aint braggin cause I am the one
You just ask me, oo, it shall be done.
And dont bother to compare,
Ive got it.
Ad lib: Im every woman...

Well, let's take it to another level. If she was as attractive as she is (although she does look a little man-ish), but was mentally disabled, would that make making fun of something she said unacceptable? Where do you draw the line between lower than average intelligence and something more serious?

:lol That would definitely be another level! No, I don't think that making fun of the disabled is acceptable. As for Jessica Simpson, I really don't have an opinion of her one way or the other. There was a lot of focus on that "it says chicken" bit, but she used it to her advantage and she's obviously very popular. As far as I know, she hasn't done anything that could be seen as questionable, unlike other younger pop stars. She has actually stayed true to the beliefs she expressed at the beginning of her career.

It extends both ways Shelly.. I would venture that females would rather go a party with Chippendale dancers than one where the dancers have a beer belly...
If a bunch of girls got together for a girls night out, they would almost ALWAYS rather go to a regular club where they can dance the night away instead of going to watch male strippers. I really think that when women go to those places they are just doing it for the novelty and are pretending to be outrageous, but they are probably pretty bored.

For any of you that has a gf/wife/bf/husband/friends/etc that doesn't post on spurstalk and knows how much time you do, what do they tell you?
My husband posts on ST but only sporadicly... i think he has less then 25 posts actually. mostly he reads under my ID or as a guest.
Sooooooo...
I think he realizes how much time I spend here... but he hasn't said anythign about it.... especially since I do it mostly while he's at work, or getting his babytime in with our daughter.
However, he does think i am overly Spurs obsessed.

If a bunch of girls got together for a girls night out, they would almost ALWAYS rather go to a regular club where they can dance the night away instead of going to watch male strippers. I really think that when women go to those places they are just doing it for the novelty and are pretending to be outrageous, but they are probably pretty bored.
I agree.
When I go out with the girls it's movie/dinner, bar/pool, or dancing.
twice I've been to a male strip show and both times I was working as a pickup bartender at the show. I got to see just about every lady in there and let me tell you:
1. they all were there as a part of a group (never less then 4 girls)
2. several of the groups were doing it as a "special occasion" celebration
3. they were all "overly enthusiastic". As in you could tell they were actually that excited but they felt obliged to keep it up tempo
4. women are horrible tippers.

Heidi Klum was the host. They chose 12 amateur designers to compete against each other in a series of contests and the winner got an apprenticeship at Banana Republic and $30,000 to start their own line. The contests were nuts. One was they had to design an outfit out of nothing but stuff they found at a dollar store. Another was to design an outfit that expressed envy. The personality conflicts were priceless. I got addicted to that show. I just noticed that they are starting production on a second season.

hmmm....... i'll give it a look.
I love it when reallity shows give contestants really dumbass hard to interpret contests.
I've never seen the QE show other than clicking through once.
I'll never understand why some folks who are gay have to be the overly dramatic, over the top effeminite type. Look, I couldn't give two shits how you like your bread buttered, but tone it down a notch or eleven.
By the way, as a point of reference, I can't stand the over the top jackasses on hunting shows either. I love to hunt and spend as much time outdooors as I can, but I've seen a few of these (can't stand the whole "trophy hunting" thing either) and my skin crawls when one of those jerkoffs runs up to a deer and hops around like my three year old daughter who has to pee, and in a breathless chatter has to count the points on a rack time and time again out loud.
But, the question is:
"I think, therefore I am"
or
"I am, therefore I think"
"A man's greatest work is to break his enemies, to drive them before him, to take from them all the things that have been theirs, to hear the weeping of those who cherished them, to take their horses between his knees and to press in his arms the most desirable of their women"

She really is an amazing soul.
She told the story of how her parents broke up when she was very young. Her mother had always wanted to be an actress. They were in the process of breaking up when her husband, Jon Voight, got nominated for an Oscar. He took his girlfriend to the ceremony. Angie spoke of how difficult it must have been to be home with two babies while your estranged husband is living your dream. She said that the night she won the Oscar for Girl, Interrupted was very important for the family, as it was important for her mother to see the two children she held all those years ago sitting at the ceremony together. My fav movies when i was a kid were The Goonies, Sandlot, and Big Trouble in Little China. All the classics.
well Cinderella HAD to be pretty.. she was gonna be a princess. And she;s been pretty for hundred's of years before disney grabbed her up.
BUT... she was a dirty freakin meess for most of the story. I mean she was covered in cinders, kithcen muck, horse stall muck, and chicken coop muck.
and if you think about it .. i nthe disney version she's playng with mice fer christ's sake.. um, ewww. not clean.
What's wrong with mice? My 10yo has one for a pet and she's awfully cute. Ofcourse she has always thought she was a :princess

cinderella's mice were not caged mice from a breeder... they were wild house and field mice.. there's a difference.
I don;t have a problem with mice as pets.. i used to own a huge rat myself. But face it, scientifcly, these things carry disease.... remeber the black plague?

She said that the night she won the Oscar for Girl, Interrupted was very important for the family, as it was important for her mother to see the two children she held all those years ago sitting at the ceremony together.
Did Lipton ask her if she was boning her brother? That whole scene was really . . . creepy.

He did ask her actually, but not in those terms. They did touch on the subject that she added fuel to the fire with her behavior and she admitted that she thought the whole thing was ridiculous but that she chose to ignore it rather than fight the rumors.

She spoke in detail about how she started being a "cutter" when she was younger. She was pretty open about a lot of things, although Lipton completely avoided asking her about Brad Pitt when they talked about "Mr. and Mrs. Smith". They talked about the movie and how she liked working with him, but you could see her kind of squirming in her chair a bit during that segment.

Alright ladies, let's get this thread back to it.
Here are commonly believed generalizations that piss me off about being a "real woman"
1) When a woman speaks out her mind and is aggressive in her tactics, she's labeled a bitch. When a man does the same, he's labled "strong and manly" This is especially true in Corporate America.
2) When a woman sleeps around she's labled a slut. When a man sleeps around he's labeled "The man!"
3) When a woman dresses provacatively, she's labeled as an attention grabbing hoe. When in all actuality, a lot of women dress up not to invite attention from the opposite sex, but for themselves. When a man dresses up, he's just considered "handsome."
What do you all think about these misconceptions? Obviously I am not saying they are widespread beliefs, they are sweeping generalizations that I have observed, so take them for what they are worth.

I agree with the first two but the third.......I think it is for the opposite sex. That doesn't make it wrong but I don't believe we dress up for ourselves. If that was the case I would live in my sweats and my hair pulled back in a pony tail all day long.

I definitely disagree with (1) and (2) being necessarily "widespread". (3) is too vague for my taste...and the way you word it, may actually be comparing apples and oranges. What is "provocatively"? And why are you comparing "provocatively" dressed women with men who have merely "dressed up"?

well I think there is a difference between dressing up and dressing provacativly.
I also think there is a difference between being assertive, gungo ho at work - and being a big time bitch. Some corporate women dogo over board since theey feel they have "something" to prove - thus making it harder on the rest of women i nthe workplace.
but your right. when ever a women sleeps with more then 1 man she's automaticly a slut.
But I 'm not for open/free/ sex with everyone you meet for either sex. I'm one of those sex is for marriage and don't get divorced type people. But in that context I think you should be as freaky as you want to be.

You disagree with it? That's because you're a guy and haven't had to experience it first hand. Obviously three are some women in Corp America who are aggressive and "bitchy." But a lot of times, they have to be beause it's such a male dominated field.
Another point I'd like to make, a lot of these generalizations are partly women's fault too. Many women call other women who speak their minds a bitch or a girl who sleeps around a slut.

I do and have gotton "looks" when I've gone out... but guys look all the time, even when your not looking your best. PLUS - I look too. I've oogled a few guys in my time, and a few girls for that matter.
And there is definatly a difference between provacative and dressed up . Anyone (male or female) who leaves the house dressed provacativly like a slut is just begging for attention and they are going to get it good or bad.

I think #1 is more the fault of men. Nothing like putting a strong woman in her place than by calling her a bitch. #2 is still widely held beliefs in society and #3 is the fault of women. A woman dressed in a tight skirt and low cut blouse will cause a man to gawk and his female comapnion will call her a slut.

After Isabella was born I got together with some other "april mommies" and we had our hubby's watch the kids and went out for dinner and a movie. I got all dressed up to make it "special" and to feel ultra pretty.
damn I wish I just wore jeans and a nice shirt.
I was very uncomfortable all night and I kept having to be carefull how I sat at the restaurant. My feet hurt, and my pantyhose ran.
It was not as fun to look "pretty" without the prospect of flirting with my husband all night and then having sex in the car or at home.
In fact I got home to a baby who was still awake and a hubby who was tired and cranky. then I spent another hour in that damn outfit while I took care of those 2.
