Anderson's form look much quicker than before. I'd love to see him shooting like that. Always said he has to be a spot up shooter to be truly effective. Definitely looks bigger. He showed good burst a couple times, but net average is still slo mo. Good to be getting size. Can't be small and slow. He could be good if he takes his role serious. He can't realistically have the ball 90% of the time. He's still young. Honestly, if he had been a draft pick this year and show that performance, people would be showing him much more love. He has always been a project/prospect. People tend To forget that. I won't take away that he has looked absolutely horrendous at times, that's to be expected with a project though. You're finding out what works.

Simmons looks more sporadic than I would like. His confidence is definitely up though. In all honest for less than a million, he's a great bargain slasher to have on the end of the bench. Once more, perspective should be kept.

I honestly really like the awareness of the national title kid. Maybe people don't watch him off ball enough. Polar opposite of Parker, moves the ball at first opportunity like a pg should. Keep people in rhythm.

Forbes looks good. I read the article where pop told him to keep doing what he does best. Would love to have a confident young shooter coming up to replace mills eventually. Not a great ball handler, seems better than mills though in that regard and he had zero turnovers. Could be an opportunity there. Spurs obviously saw something to offer a year contract.

Looking forward to seeing bertans, Murray, livio Milutov like everyone else.

There is room for negotiation, but not really. Players get the full 120 percent literally 99 percent of the time. The Spurs are pretty well known for not doing it, and that may be the case here. But Buford said it was a timing issue, which to me simply means that they are trying to use his hold rather than his real salary. That's standard and really shouldn't cause issues, but again, Paul is an asshole. He's not looking out for his player, seeing as the summer league is a League-sponsored activity and a team would absolutely be responsible if the player got injured.

What he's doing is creating an antagonistic relationship between the player and the team from jump street. That may make sense in some organizations, but the Spurs treat their players like family for the most part. Instead of coming off like the protective guardian he's supposed to be, Paul is coming off like a girlfriend who's always trying to get you to not hang out with people she disapproves of.

This was what I was wondering about. If I'd just been picked by an NBA team, I'd be participating in everything they'd allow me to do.

He's not an experiment, KA's already confirmed he's an NBA talent. The only question is how good can he become. Shit some team probably would have given him 5-8 million/yr this summer if he had been a free agent.

Not to imply Kyle is shit, but teams throwing stupid money at shitty/unproven talent is the reason 90% of the league is shit, tbh... The Spurs have been generally better than that.

The new big 3! :flag:

But seriously though... guys have to grow up. Simmons plays well when he sticks to his strengths, not so well when he tries to do too much. Anderson a bit of a work in progress still, but just him shooting that jumpshot more willingly will make a difference, specially as he seems to do a lot of PnP at the 3 pt line now.

There is a bit of wild play at times as passes are made to guys who don't have much rhythm, chemistry, and stuff of that nature. Arcidiacono has been solid handling the basketball. Forbes is just a very nice scorer. Would feel comfortable with him on the floor TBH. So much better guards than the SL had last season IMO.

Assy 4th but overall the Spurs have more talent then they had last year in the Summer League.

Simmons looked good overall, but those turnovers were a deal breaker. Kyle also looked like a legit NBA player though he also crapped the bed in the 4th.

Forbes is an amazing shooter. I didn't love his ball handling and, like every rookie, defense is a question mark. He has the Steph Curry thing where you almost expect every shot to fall and when it doesn't it's surprising.

I also like Arci's game, he reminds me of Andre Miller. Like Forbes, defense is going to be the hardest adjustment. It's interesting to watch him try and figure out the speed of the game with his passing. He had two bad turnovers, but overall, he can be trusted with the ball.

The ugly parts of the game were the only parts I saw. Only tuned in when we were up by 23. Cummings showed some nice court vision. Made a couple of nice passes. Forbes hit a big shot to stem the Philly flow and made some clutch free throws. Even in SL I like to see guys who want to finish strong and win. If you can't hit clutch free throws in SL, you probably got no chance in the regular season. I think we know who our backcourt candidates are - except our newest acquisition Olivier Hanlan. I am eager to see a big or two in the next league. Our cupboard is very bare at the moment.

When he sticks to his strengths, he's a stud. The parts where he tried to expand his game is when he did out of character things getting too wild with errant passes and forcing things too much and out of control. I can't imagine him being so ball dominant in the pros however, which could control his TO and his play.

Cady was disappointing. Many passes from Kyle to the bigs inside turned to nothing and some were tacked as TO (though they were nice passes) bc the big can't catch a ball, Kirk got the ball inside right under the basket but couldn't do anything about it. I missed Hanlan... can't recall him at all.

I'm not sold on Simmons. If he continues to have statistically dominant SL showings, I'd explore moving him for a future pick. He's not enough of a shooter, to my mind. However, he can get to the bucket. Warriors will not have much, if any, rim protection and Parker can't exploit those holes anymore. But can Simmons be trusted not to give possessions to the other team?

He shoots the ball and it goes in and he's young and he'll be cheap. Sign that ninja.

Well that's why RC gets paid. I just armchair GM after he's already done what I think we might want to do.

Thank you!

His jumper is so much quicker this time around. Fluid stroke. Can still see him thinking mid-maneuver, which can cause both good and bad things, but I really like what I'm seeing.

Hopefully he can be an anchor for the bench crue this year.

Wow.... finally he's shooting those 3's without hesitation. If he's doing that, we don't need Diaw who hasn't stopped hesitating.
That stroke looks faster and more sure, for sure. Pop's going to give him the green light this year. He wanted to last year.
Man, I hope this newfound ability to let it fly sticks and works out for him. He's got a pretty shot, now that he's sped it up by 2 full seconds.

If he's not good enough to stay on the Spurs, why do you think he's worth a pick from another team?

If he could just develop his ball handling skills a couple notches higher... he could be somebody! He could be a contendah! Not a bum... a great shooting bum.

He looks alot more ready than Murray. Murray can't shoot and may be a liability in offense. I expect Murray to be with Austin most of the year.

So maybe Forbes gets to play in the regular rotation.

If he can continue to shoot the way he's been? Hells yeah! Murray is going to need some years. That's obvious. Forbes' shot looks ready now.

Many other teams will go "Oooh, 35 points" and not notice the nine turnovers.

I can see it. I also agree with whoever posted earlier that some of his TO's can be attributed to players being completely out of sync and him trying to expand his gameat the same time, mistakes be damned in the SL.

I'm going to need to watch the game again to look at that and see where the blame can truly be placed, if it can be...

I wish I could agree. I know one was a bullshit moving screen call, but most of them were just not taking care of the ball. There were a couple of times in the first game that he and Kyle were instructing people on where to be, but Simmons is not passing to spots, he's getting too deep and leaving his feet or dribbling into traffic, slnging the ball around. The worst part is how many turned into a layup attempt on the other end. He had some spectacular blocks in the game, and I think every one of them was following one of his own turnovers.

But this is his time to make mistakes. I have no real problem with him just using these games to get some rhythm. If he's still turning the ball over like this in Vegas, it might become a concern. I'm sure Pop doesn't believe there's any excuse for having 13 turnovers in two games. :)

Forbes has a nice quick fluid shot. Moves well on the offensive end of the court. Was watching this game and last night's game off my phone while at work so couldn't focus on how well he handled himself on Defense. Seems like he is working himself a solid shot on being on the upcoming seasons roster.

He looks scrappy. It will be better to judge when he's up against some of the big leaguers.

Much quicker release too. He made a couple last game too. The highlights are a few pages back. Definite improvement. This part of his game will translate anywhere. Might look like a MIP candidate with increased role, and improvement in his shooting, which would be great for the Spurs bc they need him scoring. Diaw and West were unable to pull any bigs from the paint. Here's to wishing him a good season.:toast

I really like him, but the expectations are higher for him and Kyle since they're going to be expected to produce. Those kinds of mistakes turn into runs that lose games on the big team.

I have to say, of the two, I like Kyle better. Especially with this quicker, confident release he's been displaying. He plays more in control and you know one of Pop's favorite sayings: The team that makes the least mistakes, wins.

I hope Kyle jumps out to a great string of games at the beginning of the season to build his confidence to keep doing what he's doing here. He could be a very unique player and a potential mismatch on many positions at different times in a game.
