I'm honestly kinda surprised how a team hasn't given him a contract. I mean with dudes like Evan Turner getting huge paydays this deal can at least score like crazy and get something.

Evan Turner is a million times better than Jimmer, there's a reason why Evan just got paid and Jimmer is still trying to get signed.

I'm rewatching the game:

Murray played alot more smarter this game, picking and choosing his spots when to attack for the most part. he did a good job bringing the ball up and getting the offense started. Even Simmons showed some reserve driving in and pulling it back out on one possession at least lol. Some improvement at least, even if just a little. Back to Murray, his defense needs some work as most have already alluded to. He's reaction is either a little too slow drives and fakes or too fast as he bites on a move and gets out of place. As for the self centered talk, he's 19 and he's got a scorers mentality. He's gonna look to score in transition or drives. I don't think he's necessarily selfish in a bad way right now. I'm sure if they want him to facilitate more than he will.

Like I said earlier he played more in the flow of the offense this game, picking and choosing his spots better. For an off game, he had a pretty good game, stuffing the sheet with stats across the board. Turnovers are still a problem though. I would like to see him in the pick and roll more but the offense isn't really featuring him. He had a nice dropoff pass to Ndoye on a pick and roll, and he could do more of that if needed.

Overall it was a low scoring game, so that stats across the board were low. Still find it amazing that Murray had 10 boards. I really want to seem him as a facilitator but we'll see if they want to give him that much responsibility so soon especially with KA and JS needed touches as rotation players for next season.

Everything I wanted to see him working on, he mentioned it. He and the Spurs are well aware of what he needs to work on and what the spurs expect. He'll be fine. I already did notice a difference from game 1 to game 2.

he has to call himself one of the greatest Spurs of all time.
make a Seinfeld reference

I don't see Kyle earning any awards. There will be 6th men on other teams that put up much bigger numbers than a sixth man in the Spurs' system. Did Manu ever win 6th MoY?

Also Kyle has shown steady improvement. Don't see him making some quantum leap statistically that would get him in the running for MIPoY.

I have been saying MIPoY candidate for sure. He will get minutes for sure and if he's shooting that 3 baby... yea.

Yeah the 3 ball is what really gonna take him to the next level. It's a potentially career changing skill for him and what we need. He just can't hesitate with it. Just let it fly and shoot it confidently. He's come a long way since he was a rookie, with his shot.

Maybe I am overhyped but him shooting the 3 is a big deal. He will score a lot more just on that. Realistically how many games will Pau rest for example. Kyle will play a lot this season IMO.

Just talked to Davis Bertans. Sitting in the stands watching the game. He said he won't play until they "work some things out." I.e., contract.

Also, he confirmed that it's pronounced "Dav-ees" and not the other way. Shouldn't be a surprise, but for those that were still confused.

Kyle's 3-ball improvement IS a big deal - huge, in fact. I still don't see him averaging over 12points/game. There will be guys in the league who played very little last season who will come out of nowhere for MIPoY, IMHO.

I think sasaint (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=12242) point is well taken though. He won't dominate the ball. Mills will get his shots, so will Manu and there will be a lot of other guys involved, including Simmons, Bertans etc. It's not built for any of these guys to shine. Maybe he doesn't outshine others who become high usage in the league all of a sudden, but individually he can easily double his own stats just on increased playing time and improvements in his shooting.

I expect/hope Danny and Patty have big bounce-back seasons. Then there's Kawhi, LMA, Pau, TP. SAGirl and I have been trading positive assessments of Kyle since last SL. I believe he is Spurs TNG, but with those guys around, I am not seeing his compiling statistics that would place him in the running for any awards. "Breakout" may mean something different to you. I just expect him to firmly establish himself as a solid 6th/7th man good for 20-25 minutes a game.

Yeah, I see what your saying. Kyle won't have the same usage % in the bigs as he has here in the summer. But i think that depends on Manu and Simmons, if they can perform and if Kyle is just dominating. You hope the usage is balanced, so y'all are right.

Look at Becky in SL. and yea KA and JSimms are vets here, but last season KA practically a rookie really and he wasn't stellar in his rookie NBA season by any means, and JSimms was just an athlete. She made them look good, got them in good spots.

They can get a player with upside for him, but he's still in his rookie deal. If you have a guy on a rookie deal with some potential, that is a guy you hold on to, IMO. He's just 20. The tough aspect on him I guess is that his finishes were at the rim and that is not there for him in the same way in the NBA. Needs more of a PF game and plays like a Center I guess. But again, he's just 20 yrs old sooo young, Dijon's age basically.
