If enough people who voted Clinton in 2016 show up, I think he can squeeze sufficient new votes and previous Trump voters to eke it out.

Every Dem candidate has a path to victory imo. It's up to the voters not to be petty sore losers if their favorite candidate doesn't get the call.

IMO, he loses Florida for sure, and portions of the Rust Belt. Iowa and New Hampshire have not been kind to old Joe either.

EDIT: and he needs to win more than Shillary, tbh... that's the whole point.

In a surprise moment at the end of his Dallas rally on the eve of Super Tuesday, former Vice President Joe Biden called former Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke up to the stage -- and vowed to put O'Rourke, who has said the government should forcibly seize assault rifles from Americans, in charge of gun-control efforts

Lol biden

Really Florida would be one of his better chances imo. That state is mostly made up of old people. A constituency that has been great to him. Even Hillary came within 2 points of getting it.

I'm on the record Biden has no shot, he's Shillary 2.0, I could certainly be wrong. He's still likely to get more votes than Dear Leader though, which really shows what a weak candidate Trump is and what a wasted opportunity this is.

Dems don't have anyone who will beat Trump, tbh.

Biden flips PA, WI and MI imo. Everything else is gravy. I don't see any state that flips from Clinton to Trump.

For those concerned about a moderate winning those states, they were also won by Gore and Kerry.

You can only win Florida if you rally the people from the main cities to go out and vote. Thinking that's going to happen simply because people dislike Trump is fool's gold, IMO.

way off topic, and jumping back to policy... but how do you know how much funding a public option will need if you dont know how many people are going to enroll, and anybody can as soon as they want to?

how do we know its more affordable than medicare for all? if everybody decided to hop on the public option... isn't that already basically medicare for all, and would require the same level of funding?

At least Bernie can generate excitement among new voters. Maybe not like Obama but still something. Biden will probably generate less turnout than Hillary. The only thing I hope for if somehow Biden does win the nomination is that maybe the hate factor isn't going to be there like it was for Hillary.

I definitely have concerns about Biden's candidacy, but I honestly believe he could run an identical campaign to Hillary and still win based on turnout (and maleness, and not being named Hillary Clinton) alone. I'm not sure he could run a worse campaign than hers, and I hope I don't find out what that looks like, but that's the only way I see him losing.

other than not calling herself a socialist, how are her policies not as "batshit" as bernie's though? she's for medicare for all, she's for loan forgiveness, she's for tuition free college, she's for a wealth tax.

granted, on M4A she has a more dragged out plan with the public option stepping stone... but she's still said that she ultimately supports M4A and wants to end private insurance. in fact, her M4A plan places an even higher burden on employers and the wealthy, while sanders spreads some of the burden onto the middle class

She doesn't want to outright ban the types of contracts that account for 75% of my work, for starters. And the majority of her M4A plan is funded by things like taxes on large corporations and the financial sector. She's a self-proclaimed capitalist and understands how the system works (she wrote the textbook for my law school's bankruptcy law class).

Oh wait, you mean the CFPB thing about financial services companies and class actions?

The main planks of Warren’s updated anti-corruption plan are similar to the bill she released last year, but there are several major updates, including banning forced arbitration clauses and class action waivers for all employment, consumer protection, antitrust, and civil rights cases. The most recent update tightens ethics rules for judges, and gives judges less leeway to personally decide whether or not they can recuse themselves on certain cases.
https://www.vox.com/2019/9/16/20867216/elizabeth-warren-anti-corruption-bill

the gap between warren and sanders when it comes to domestic policy is not nearly as large as you might think. she calls herself a capitalist and he calls himself a democratic socialist, and that nominal difference is largely the extent of it, tbh

there are some differences... if i recall correctly her loan foregiveness plan is something like 50k in forgiveness to each student, as opposed to complete foregiveness for all, etc. you'l find small differences, but she's basically a more presentable version of sanders when it comes to policy

i also think she's sharper and better with details as far as implementation (with an exception being her proposed M4A funding, which is a less realistic plan than bernie's, imo)

Chill. I mean, yeah, they're going to steal this at the convention, but Bernie is taking the majority of delegates tonight in all likelihood. Cali, Texas (although it might be damn competitive), OK, Mass, Maine, Minny, Utah, and Colorado are likely to go to Sanders. Hell, it's possible he pulls up an upset in Ark, and may be competitive in Tennessee. Let's not blow our loads either way. Still a long night ahead of us.

What should Bernie have done differently with black voters? Be specific. His platform does significantly more for black voters than any of the other candidates’ platforms would and he doesn’t have the checkered past that Biden/Bloomer have on race.

I dont know. Cant answer that as I am not black and cant speak for them.

I'm just speaking in general terms about individual voters. I dont think blaming voters because they decided to go the other way is somehow a fault.

If Biden pulls a stunt where he avoids debates I’d vote for Trump and donate as much to his campaign as I’ve donated to Sanders.

The fact Dems don’t see the issues with a candidate who wants to avoid debates demonstrates how fucked up the party has gotten.

I'm not saying I'd support it, I'm saying it would be a good strategy. Debates won't be a strength for him, and I don't think most people will care.

LOL at putting so much importance on that theatrical bullshit anyway. You'd seriously donate to Trump over the fucking debates? :lol

If that's all it would take I'm starting to think you're just reaching for an excuse to vote for Trump regardless, tbh.

Biden is still running ads with Obama. Biden inspires no one to get
Out and vote and that was Hillary’s problem she had. We are literally running the same candidate we did in 2016. I wasn’t necessarily blaming the voters. I’m saying the candidates who dropped out last night and all of the sudden just magically backed Biden all in the same night right before Super Tuesday. It almost looks as it was preplanned to screw Bernie. Here again I’m not a Bernie diehard it’s just how it looks.

It’s not theatrical bullshit, if Biden doesn’t have the mental wherewithal to do a few fucking debates the Dems shouldn’t have nominated him to be president. Doing something as unprecedented as refusing to debate is basically an admission he’d get pummeled if he did one with the hope that Biden would be able to effectively trick the American people into overlooking his dementia and voting for him.

Its effectively the same thing they did with Palin 12 years ago when they tried at all costs to avoid interviews. I guess when it’s a Dem it’s ok though.

The debates are a series of dumbed-down platitudes, canned one liners and retarded zingers. It's an excuse for the media to cover theatrics instead of policy. They're absolutely useless in the current format and I don't think participation in them is a necessary step to be considered Presidential.
