I still can't get over how many colleges take class attendance nowadays.The thing I find to be troubling is how many classes I have where taking attendance is the ONLY reason to go to a lecture.

Three of my five classes this semester are the type where all of my actual learning comes from the text and the power points/lecture notes that are available online. Going to class is just for taking roll and turning in a few assignments, but I get absolutely nothing else out of attending. It's unfortunate.

The thing I find to be troubling is how many classes I have where taking attendance is the ONLY reason to go to a lecture.

Three of my five classes this semester are the type where all of my actual learning comes from the text and the power points/lecture notes that are available online. Going to class is just for taking roll and turning in a few assignments, but I get absolutely nothing else out of attending. It's unfortunate.Very bizarre. Man, I think I would have had to drop out of college if attendance was mandatory.

There were only a handful that had it at MSU(500-600 students per class) and I still worked around it. I'd just buy my roommate lunch/beers at the bar and he'd swipe my ID card. Problem solved.

I rarely, if ever, went to class. There were a few where I only went to the 1st class and then again for mid-terms/finals and that was it. I just bought the lecture notes.
