Saying "we're fairly early in the process" seems to insinuate that something recently occurred. The allegations are fairly new, but the event in question was 36 years ago. If Dr Ford was just Mrs Ford, and not a clinical psychologist, one could more easily accept that she saw the nomination of BK and decided enough is enough, but as a clinical psychologist who has even been to therapy and supposedly mentioned it, the severity of the event could very easily be overblown, or perhaps it wasn't this guy at all.
