Gotta say this has just been a dominating performance by Republicans, with special help from Democrats. They're going to appoint one of the lowest-polled SCOTUS nominees in history because they've managed (again, with the enablement of the Democrats) to completely drive the conversation in their favor.
Kavanaugh's qualification for a lifetime appointment to the United States Supreme Court hinges exclusively on the ability of the FBI to prove a claim against him from 36 years ago, to say nothing of convincing Republicans that it matters at all. It's not about the fact that almost all of his records are hidden. It's not about him being hyper-partisan or loyal to the executive. It's not even about him being an emotionally unstable conspiracy theorist with a spoken grudge against "the Left."
This is like interviewing someone for a top executive position at your company, ignoring qualifications and character flaws, and guaranteeing him the job if he simply passes a drug test.
Hell, they've even let Republicans hang "obstructionist" on them by pretending Merrick Garland didn't happen.
Just an absolutely abysmal performance. The only hope for redemption is if this somehow drives a higher voter turnout for Democrats, though I can't imagine it's going to do that any moreso than it drives Republican voters as well.

Yawn. Kavanaugh was a judge on the DC Court of Appeals. That's the second most important court in the country. He got rave reviews for his time there from both sides of the aisle. He didn't all of a sudden become unfit for a judge because Trump nominated him. He's every bit qualified to sit on the bench (so was Garland). All this stuff you raise is just boilerplate DEM talking points to try and keep him off the bench of the high court mostly because the high court, unlike the lower appellate courts, has become too political.
You can believe what you want about the allegations over the last few weeks, but if he can excel as a judge at the DC Court of Appeals, he'll be just fine on the US Supreme Court (except for the permanent damage to his reputation based on unsubstantiated allegations).
I do agree that the Dems screwed this one up in some ways. If they handled the Ford allegations in private, I bet Trump would have withdrew Kavanaugh. It's a fight not worth having when he can nominate a woman that is way more conservative than Kavanaugh. But because the Dems made it look like a hit job by how they handled it and the timing of when they did it, they left no choice for the GOP and Trump to go all in on this guy.

The Democrats seem to be turning towards Medicare for all, which polls well. Keeping the ACA had higher support than Trump's bait and switch repeal. Americans support gay marriage and weed legalization and understand global warming is a major problem and not the myth the Republicans portray it as. They didn't like the Trump tax plan. The Senate Judiciary Committee received a sworn statement from someone described as a longtime boyfriend of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser Christine Blasey Ford stating that she coached someone on taking a polygraph examination.
Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, requested any audio and video recording of Ford’s polygraph test from Ford's legal team in a letter Tuesday, since she used the examination results to support her allegations when testifying before the panel Friday.
“The full details of Dr. Ford’s polygraph are particularly important because the Senate Judiciary Committee has received a sworn statement from a longtime boyfriend of Dr. Ford’s stating that he personally witnessed Dr. Ford coaching a friend on polygraph examinations,” Grassley says in his request for the materials.
During her testimony before the committee last week, Ford said under oath that she had never given any tips or advice to anyone who was planning on taking or preparing for a polygraph test.
If Ford’s former boyfriend is telling the truth in his statement, which he submitted under penalty of felony, it could implicate her in perjury.
Grassley says it is not only concerning that Ford may have lied under oath, but also brings into question the reliability of the results of her polygraph.

Kind of agree it isn't necessary. She was interviewed by a prosecutor. What more can she answer the FBI? I would think the FBI would spend it's time probing the Kavanaugh calendar, which is the only real evidence in the whole case to see if there is anything there that would substantiate Ford's story.
Not surprised Ford's attorneys are not releasing the other information. When people hide documents like that, it usually means they are damaging to the story. I don't think you can assume they disprove her story, but I bet they provide further contradictions to what she has said (and therapist notes may have some embarrassing details about her marriage or other problems that she prefers to keep private) and I'm sure the polygraph that they have played up would show itself to be less telling than what they have made it out to be.

???? A prosecutor that specializes in sexual assault cases, including ones that have occurred years in the past, interviewed Ford. No reason to do it again unless something turns up that requires clarification. As for Kavanaugh, he was cross examined by several Democrats that were federal prosecutors. No reason to question him again unless something new turns up. I'm sure the FBI looked at the testimony and did some rounds trying to check what each side said. If nothing new turns up, then why go talk to Kavanaugh or Ford again. It's not like either is going to change their story.
Besides, you are missing the playbook. The Dems have shifted from wanting the FBI report to investigate the Ford allegations to wanting the FBI to investigate how much beer Kavanaugh drank in college and high school.

I don't know the total time that she took because it was in 5 minute increments. The Dems also questioned her with layups to let her tell her story. End of the day, her attorney doesn't want to make any of the documents available to the committee. They have no new information. And yes, some interviews take 15 minutes when the accuser has no verifiable facts to allow the prosecutor to investigate further. If you can't name a date, a time, a place, how you got there, and where you went after, there isn't much to investigate. And the FBI isn't going to get answers that others tried to get.
