Hand ecruited four very good players last year. Two looked good as freshmen. However that about all he did. And glad to wave bye to him.

Texas needs to bring in about 5 offensive linemen in the 2022 cycle. They should have done it in the 21 cycle but was terrible at it. Now they need to rely on the transfer portal and maybe pick up a JC transfer or two. Out of all the positions on this team Oline is the most devoid of talent. Second on that list is DE. However with the coming class there is a couple of guys that can give relief I'd still like to see a transfer or 2 to get those numbers up as well.
That was the worst part of it for me when they kept saying Herman would be back for 2021. As bad as the 2021 OL recruiting class was, we could survive it with the good players on campus already plus a superior 2022 OL class. But if Herman and Hand were back for the 2022 OL recruiting, then that was going to put us in a hole for another 5 years. You just cant recover from back-to-back disastrous OL failings like that.

The one good thing about our oline recruiting is that we can offer a quicker path to playing time over schools like Bama and Ohio State, that should help with getting in some of the beef we have been missing the last couple of years.

I wonder if the floss could come back and update the big board for people like me who use all the time to try to keep up with our roster and stuff
or does anybody have another site that has big lists like he made?
(no but there are plenty of sites for big tits...) got that out-of-the-way.

Inside Texas
IT Recruiting Matters: Texas reaching out to more 2022’s, Uke
The new Texas staff continues to reach out to 2022 prospects around the state.
Here are some IT lunchtime nuggets for dessert after a healthy salad and water with lemon.
*Arlington Martin 2022 hard-hitting and instinctive linebacker Trevell Johnson was a top priority for the previous staff, and looks to be the same for the new staff.
“I’ve head from Coach (Bo) Davis a few times, and hopefully I’ll hear from the new DC in a few days,” said Johnson.
The message from Davis was that the 6-foot-0, 200-pound teammate of Morice Blackwell and 2022 DE Ernest Cooper was still a priority.
“He wanted to reach out to let me know they are in Austin, and that once they get everything going they will start back up recruiting me.”
Before the coaching change in Austin, Texas was at the top of Johnson’s list.
“I just need to build the relationships again, and see if they are my top choice.”
https://www.hudl.com/profile/11725090/Trevell-Johnson
*The new Texas staff has reached out to Aledo S and recent LSU decommit Bryan Allen Jr. It was Drew Hughes that reached out to Allen, "Coach Hughes just let me know he was at Texas, and that they love my tape."
*Summer Creek offensive tackle Kelvin Banks is not on the verge of committing per a source close to the four-star prospect. LSU was trending over Texas A&M and Texas during the season according to the source. Banks has been impressed with Kyle Flood’s effort since being hired at Texas.
*Texas defensive backs coach Terry Joseph has reached out to Mansfield Timberview S Landon Hullaby since arriving in Austin. Joseph was recruiting Hullaby for Notre Dame prior to making the move to Texas.
"We (Joseph) had already talked before when he offered me at ND. He just told me that I'm still a top priority, and they (Texas) would love to have me."
*Texas has been in contact with Texas High DE/OLB Derrick Brown in the last two weeks. It was Oscar Giles who was in contact with the 6-foot-4, 200-pound EDGE prospect. Oklahoma is considered the favorite after offering Wednesday.
*The Texas staff has watched Euless Trinity RB Ollie Gordon, and he is on the board at the position in 2022. The new staff has yet to reach out to the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder, however. Gordon has Power 5 offers from Iowa State, TCU, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Texas Tech Arkansas, Utah and Washington State.
https://www.hudl.com/profile/11846811/Ollie-Gordon
*Coppell 2022 OT Alvin Ebosele will be a name to watch in the coming months. He’s grown from 6-foot-5, 240 to 6-foot-6 and 280-285 pounds with extremely long arms, big hands and good foot and body quickness. The raw prospect with plenty of upside is hearing from Baylor, Northwestern and Syracuse of late.
https://www.hudl.com/profile/13091495/Alvin-Ebosele
*Beaumont West Brook DB Bryce Anderson is not solid to LSU. Texas A&M is making a big push. Karl Scott at Alabama remains in contact. Stanford and USC are also working on Anderson. Texas will have shot if new staff prioritizes him. Aggies like him as a nickel/corner.
*The Texas staff continues to have communication with Parish Episcopal 2021 OT/G Austin Uke. Texas joins Stanford, Oklahoma, Penn State, Northwestern and Florida State as the main schools in contention. Uke does not appear to be in a rush to make a commitment, which is good news for the Longhorns staff. Steve Sarkisian and Kyle Flood are heavily involved in Uke's recruitment.

A source at Texas confirmed to me today that Tennessee running back Eric Gray is on campus for a visit. The Tennessee product signed with the Vols in the 2019 class, but entered the transfer portal amid a mass exodus from other Tennessee products in the wake of Jeremy Pruitt's firing. Gray also has plans to visit Oklahoma, but sources in Austin are optimistic this visit could help shut the door for the Longhorns.

As far as Stoops is concerned for the defense, his cred ain’t exactly stellar. The guy from Montana state will be better for us IMO.
the thing that kind of raises a flag tho is, was it Sarks decision not to bring him on, or was he told by money guys not to ?
If he is going to be told what to do constantly by money guys, is he being put in a position to succeed? Guarantee you Meyer would not have put up with that. May be one of the reasons he ain’t here.
At this point tho, I would rather have Sark than Meyer anyway. Just wondering how money guys are going to coexist with him.

I think keeping the peace is more important, remember there are very few guys who are unreplaceable, Stoops isn't one of them. I'm okay with Sark wanting Stoops and thinking he would be a good candidate, however Sark likely didn't understand the anamosity between Texas and Oklahoma to know how much we don't like the name Stoops. Either way if Jeff Choat is the linebacker coach now it says something when U dub was trying to hire him to be their DC and he comes here to be a position coach.

Looks like the staff is now complete as they picked Jeff Choate the head coach at Montana st to be the linebacker coach. He has ties to Boise state an coach K. I of course know nothing about him except that U Dub was considering him for their vacant DC position.
My thoughts are that I really like how coach Sark has made his search far and wide to get the coaches he wanted, I also like that we got a position coach who another P5 program was looking at as a coordinator. I think this was a pretty good job by Sark and the athletic dept to pull this off.
I'm excited about this staff, mostly because there isn't a single questionable hire in the group. My favortes are of course Flood and Banks who I think will really kill it here. Coach K to me is not just a great DC but a very level headed guy who will be a calming influence both in the lockerroom and in the coaches room.

As near as I can check all the coaching hires are pretty legit, now we need to hit the ground running and I think we have something. I still can only give sark a less than 50% chance of succeeding at Texas, however it's gone up with every coaching hire, as of now he's at 40% chance of success in my books.

We have a HC who is a fully grown mature man coaching young immature boys. With Herman, we had a boy trapped in a man's body trying to coach boys. Herman was trying to be cool and be one of the guys.....Sark is past that shit. Yes, he had his drinking issues, but still, adult issues, and he has worked very hard to correct his life for the last several years. That would not happen in Austin
You're right. All of OU's running backs stink. If anything, they much more quality depth than Texas.
Texas has Bijan, giant drop off to Roschon, and a true freshman back that played at 3A.

I did not understand his point either
Gray looks like a solid RB, but neither he nor anyone else is going to take a "lion's share of the carries" from Bijan
And it's hard to see him sending Roschon Johnson to the bench

Bijan is somewhere between Ricky Williams and Cedric Benson. I'm not ready to say he is Ricky Williams good, but I'm not for from it either. Roshon is a very good back on the level of a Selvin Young.
Defensive Coordinators will not plan their defense around stopping Roshon Johnson, however they will do so to try and stop Bijan Robinson. Roshon is very capable player but he is not Bijan Robinson.

I think Gray wants to play with his friends. That said, OU doesn't have a 2021 RB commit, but they are deep. Pledger, Major, and especially McGowan can play. I'm not sure the grass is as green as he thinks it is.
Gray would be an upgrade over Roschon. At worst, he'd be the back up at Texas. The floor is much lower at OU. Oh well.

This is why I asked earlier if Carrington was still with us.
We have some good recruiters coming in with the new staff and one apparently great recruiter and what does he Carrington do? by airline tickets for the coach who has made contact and write it down on the calendar of where all the coaches will be going?. USC also has our old D coordinator and so it seems its safer for your job if you can coach and recruit. I was asking myself what a pure recruiter could do to impress a kid. Tell him about how good the other coaches are? Say Austin is a great place, here I will show you around? Lets go meet all these people... who will really have the closer relationships with you, the recruit?
I just dont get how some of this stuff works. I guess Carrington could also keep up with every single post a highly sought after kid might post on social media to make sure we were still good with them? What? I will help Sell your brand?

May be better off if Sark didn’t see any purpose in keeping him around so be it. His powers were magical for a brief run but even his prowess as a recruiter seemed to die off with the rest of the old staff. Didn’t have the same pull and nobody was really mentioning him even with the few kids we we’re able to hang onto.

Possible replacements for BC, per 24/7:
Mason Smith, Recruiting Specialist, Mississippi State
Smith is young, but he made a huge mark in his first year at Mississippi State. If you noticed that the Bulldogs made a big impression in Texas this year, Smith is a huge reason why. A native of Houston, Smith is experienced in recruiting Texas and Louisiana. When talking with kids and families Mississippi State was recruiting, his name came up multiple times. Smith was a big reason the Bulldogs landed Sawyer Robertson, Daniel Greek and Teddy Knox. He also had a huge hand in Mississippi State picking up transfers KJ Costello and Tyrell Shavers. It would likely be easy to get him back to Texas as he has family in the Houston area and recruits that area quite a bit.
Cooper Petagna, Director of Recruiting, Oregon
Petagna serves as Director of Recruiting for the Ducks, and he’s another name I hear a lot about when talking about up and coming personnel analysts. Petagna is originally from the south and spent time working at Cincinnati, Michigan, LSU and Alabama before taking a job at Washington. A source told me Petagna was one of the most trusted evaluators for Chris Petersen at Washington, and he’s respected in multiple circles. Petagna has drawn NFL interest and I was told he knows how to organize and put a board together better than anyone in the country.
Alex Brown, Director of Football Recruiting/NFL Liasion, Rice
Brown might be a good candidate to replace Carrington as the two were really close friends. Brown worked closely with Carrington on Houston's recruiting staff under Tom Herman before moving on to Rice. Since making the move, Brown has the Owls recruiting at a higher level, and he's thought of as one of the up and coming evaluators and communicators in the business. Brown is likely headed for the professional ranks in the future, but a stop at Texas would make sense as he continues to make his way up the career ladder.
Ethan Young, Director of Player Personnel, UCLA
Young is known as one of the sharp up and comers in the business with west coast ties and legitimate recruiting chops. A Washington native, Young knows Sarkisian from his time in the Pacific Northwest, and he's experienced having worked in the NFL under Chip Kelly before joining him at UCLA as Director of Strategic Intelligence before moving to his current role. Young has a deep background in analytics and is tabbed as a fast riser in the industry.
Kerry Cooks, Defensive Analyst, Notre Dame
This might be a bit outside the box, but Cooks is currently an analyst at Notre Dame, and the Irving, Texas native has a strong reputation as a recruiter. If he wanted to get back closer to home, an off-field role could suit him perfectly. The former Iowa safety had stops as a coach at Minnesota, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Texas Tech. He knows the landscape well and has recruited this area for years. Cooks has an excellent reputation with high school coaches and could be a vital asset in a recruiting department.

He came to Texas under some very questionable circumstances with a rap as a drug dealer of sorts. Many including myself questioned honoring his offer. However while at Texas he was a good student (evidently) but he never got in a bit of trouble and now he is going to make drug dealing a legal profession. Never categorized it as a Center or not. I was talking about height. 6'5 compared to 5'10 is the comparison I said.
If he is an offensive lineman then you know he has some agility. Also listed at 6’ 4”, can be a difference in dunking. I think the point was and its nice to know he has agility. (Hand size is also super important in ability to dunk. People who first learn how to dunk use one hand with the ball thrown up for them timed for their run to the basket. )
There are lots of O lineman in the NFL that can’t dunk, but they know how to play the oline. Agility probably aides in overcoming a lack of technique to begin with. If you have both... a take. Also he definitely looks like he can add mass.
This is a football thread. We also had film of an D lineman running a 6 minute mile. Small people in good shape can’t do this, especially if they have muscle mass to carry around. So it may mean the dude can get gassed an recover quickly in a football game. We all look for athletes with special qualities that might fit in to football. Hell they give prospective QBs. “IQ” tests. It might be better to give them a 3-d moving parts test with quick reactions...
Evaluation is a tough business. Someone like Poona Ford illustrates this. I personally think he has the ability to recover quickly from shedding physical entanglement. Dude would run after everything and do a bunch of cleaning up for us. Now it looks like he has added to this gift.
This is why if we get a guy to replace Carrington it would be nice if he had a good record of evaluation. Seeing a 2* as a starter type stuff and having it happen.

New recruiting rules...
D1 staffs can call juniors starting Monday and other recruiting changes
Most immediately, Division I football staffs can begin calling high school juniors or their family members beginning Feb. 1, which is this coming Monday.
In another major change, just as the 2020-21 season doesn’t count toward a players’ eligibility, neither does it count on graduate assistants’ eligibility clock. Provided they are in good academic standing, GAs are permitted to return for a fourth season. Because everyone wants to spend more time living that GA life

Not doubting the young man... good write up, btw.
Maybe juvenile comment but was really just trying to be funny. Not saying the guy can play tackle or football. Hopefully he can, hopefully he wants to play at Texas. I was comparing the 2. Poona (granted with some extra long arms) dunking in comparison to this one just was better. Showed more explosiveness. But, you don't have to be too explosive in football, most plays last about 4-8 secs.

True. But the ability to recover from those 4-8 seconds is huge. If I were going to pick guys with the superior stamina it would probably be DBs who often have to sprint most of that time then a quick return to position and do it again. Its sometimes funny to watch kids hold up the 4 fingers for the 4th quarter and you know some of them have no legs left.
You also have every right to doubt.
This is like a Kentucky Derby field. You start off with hundreds of thousands of 2 yo horses running across the world and then 18 make it to the big day as a 3 yo and possibly beyond? Its a frkn mess. You never know, horses come out of nowhere without "superior" breeding who show very little to begin with. The cast offs are not talked about, only the ones that made it. Heck it starts before that. Horses are bought in auctions very young and some of them never even run a race. This would be like giving a scholarship to a 6th grader.

Im saying he can dunk without the ball in hand headed toward the hoop. Im thinking per usual... The one handed dunk on a nice set up volleyball type situation where you just have to stuff the ball in.

A quote from Mike Roach of 24/7 --
There seems to be some effort to try to slow Texas momentum before the staff can really get started. There’s already been a bit of negative recruiting that slowed down the momentum Texas was generating with four-star 2022 wide receiver Evan Stewart. The staff is aware of what happened and is addressing it, but between that and local schools pushing hard for commitments right now, it’s clear that other schools want to stymie any momentum that usually comes to a new staff in its first year.

minors is a decent back who had some big games in the playoffs. he is not going to be a down to down back by any means but he could be a very solid situational back. i don't know what kind of game he had against north shore but he wasn't very effective in Westlake's victory over Steele. Steele's edge defenders were too fast for him.

Bear looks like a great player but I'm really not too worried about losing him to another program. If he were a top Olinemen I'd be worried but we have talent on the dline what we need is offensive linemen. Our order of need looks like this.
Needs for 2022
1. Offensive linemen - 6
2. Corner backs- 3 or 4
3. Wide Recievers- 4
4. Quarterbacks - 1
5. Running Back- 2
6. Defensive Ends- 3
7 Defensive Tackles - 2
8. Linebackers - 3
9. Safeties- 2
10 Kickers - 0 - 1
