Update on a few targets from 24/7...

-although Texas had cooled on S JD Coffey III of Kennedale after offering him last summer, the heat has been put back on with Coach Ash being hired. UT isn't his outright leader at the moment, but things are trending well.

-for S Andrew Mukuba of Austin LBJ, Texas is recruiting him the hardest and they've made up a ton of ground after it was thought they had offered way too late. Roach says he's close to putting in a UT crystal ball there.

-it should come down to Arizona State and Texas for LB Jaydon Williams of Dallas South Oak Cliff. Sources in Austin and Dallas are confident Texas will be the pick, but Arizona State has been recruiting him for a while despite recently offering.

I need to look back at previous years, but Adams and Thomas seemingly started the trend of guys who would've signed with Texas if the Horns would just show them something.

It's frustrating that list grows annually, but Texas simply can't get out of their own way and they blew all of their 2018 momentum quickly.

Yes and this NFL Draft is doing us no favors. Seemingly every other guy is originating from Texas but none that went to UT. Athletes are taking notice of these type of things, the LSU, Bamas and Ohio States are still king.

I agree this draft is not a great look for Texas, but outside Duverney, Ehlinger and B. Jones, the Longhorns best players are fresh or sophs so there wasn't a lot to choose from. I wouldve added Collin, but he was often injured and a little too inconsistent his senior year to make a dent. I feel you will see a solid leap from players like Green, Sterns, Jamison and Ossai on the defense and Cosmi, Eagles and Ehlinger on offense. Imo, there may be 2 or 3 potential 1st or high 2nd rd grade picks in that mix of players (Cosmi, Sterns and Ossai) It's a catch-22 though, because that means a couple will not be returning for their Sr. seasons. Hopefully they all stay healthy and live up to the potential. Remember, Strong did Herman no favors with the roster he left. They've done a good job with players like Cosmi and Kerstetter. I think the 2021 draft will start to show Texas getting back into the 1st rd talk.

Watched the UT- Navy game with Roger Staubach at QB.

Staubach finished that game very sore.
Texas used 3 different QBs. At least by looking at their jersey numbers.
UT actually scored 2 more touchdowns, but the rules concerning the ball on the goal line must have not existed or the refs felt sorry for Navy. The talent deferences along the line both ways was enormous. Navy dropped a number of passes as well but made some outstanding catches. Staubach had an interesting little jump pass he would throw to avoid linemen.

But the forward pass actually worked in this game.

Imagine where Texas would have been if those guys stayed in state and picked Texas. We would have had Cosmi on one side and Little on the other protecting Ehlinger. Browning and Wilson would have made the difference in about 4 loses we had last year. I can guarantee that if we had Little and Cosmi last year we don't give up 7 sacks to blOwU.

Props to Sam Cosmi and Caden Sterns for making the list, but we need to close the deal on these difference makers.

I also want to fast forward to this cycle. Sam Cosmi is proof that Hand can develop offensive line talent. He was a 3'star TE who is now a projecte 1st round OT. If the brockermeyers can't see this, then screw them.

The extra payment head HS coaches get that the Texas Tribune does not publish goes through the roof... Love to see HS board meetings where athletic total contracts are discussed... closed to the public.

I think this is the best thing to happen to college football. Now ALL the schools will arrange for players to get paid. The way it is now only some of the schools boosters pay (l$u, bama, Auburn, ole mi$$, ga).

Texas, Stanford, Etc aren’t willing to get the players paid under the current rules.

Now Cali kids will go to USC - UCLA cuz that where they will make big money. Notre Dame will now be able to get the same level of kids as LSU.

Plan A is cheating school pay some of the kids and Plan B is all schools can get all the kids paid some $. There’s no scenario where the high end kids don’t get paid if they want to.

IMO, ESPN has been all over the place for decades. They were a little better when they had team sites and writers but even then recruiting was not their strong suit. ESPN is primarily a news site - supposedly.
Rivals wasnt much better even when I was a paying member of orangebloods way back when.
Before 247 came on the scene about 12 years ago, Scout.com was the best recruiting site with the best network, evaluators and writers (Longhorn site was essentially InsideTexas before they went independent). Burton came from Rivals to help start 247 and brought some of the same philosophy with him; in spite of that, the site has gotten better. Again, IMO, Scout still continued to have the best evaluations proven after the fact. Scout's upper level mismanagement doomed them to eventual failure not their recruiting info. The influx of Scout national, regional, and local analyst made 247 much better but made the composite more divergent. The end result of not having Scout around anymore to balance the scale with 247 has made the composite make less sense and less reliable.

We cant become a society of cowards because political pinheads want to treat everyone as 5yr olds. Like I said, I'm a prime candidate to die if I get the virus. I got a call from the VA yesterday informing me of this exact thing among others. I know where I'm going when I die... but society HAS to march on.

We are destroying ourselves economically for reasons that can be mitigated. Two doctors in California said a couple of days ago that the fatality percentages in Cali are WAY overblown and it should be around 0.0303 fatality rate (IIRC) if the numbers are reported correctly (meaning a lot more people are infected in CA than are being reported and would push down the fatality rate). I've been in too many countries that have had contagious diseases. I've taken the anthrax sequence 4 times (5 shots each time) and malaria shots more times than I can remember. A few weeks ago, I tried to give blood to help out. The doc said I cannot give blood with the medications I'm on and, additionally, I can never give blood due to the amount of time I have spent in particular countries; regardless if I eventually got sick or not. You dont want to live stupidly, but at some point you have to decide to not be a hermit because you are too scared to live

I go to the store, and walk a lot and get several hours of sunshine a day. I'm just irritated at the lack of promised testing after all this time. I just don't think there is enough data to make worthwhile projections and what has happened is working to slow it.

I don't know a lot about him, but he comes from a small school and doesn't get a lot of coverage. His film looks good, but it is against smaller school competition so that could be a bit misleading. I'm guessing the staff saw something in him and if it pans out then they found a true under the radar recruit (at least that's what I'm hoping for). I think his P5 offer list will start to fill out if/when the season starts on time and things get back to normal. One thing for sure, I think it's a safe bet that Stan Drayton knows RBs and what they bring to the table so I'm going to defer to his judgement on this one.
