So tell me a bit about yourself.

If you hear an argument between two opposing viewpoints, and one side proves consistently to be utter bullshit, and one seems to have better proof, would you still assign equal chances that the two sides are right?

At what point would you start sliding the odds in favor of the non-bullshit side?

I like this one (of many)

The process of natural selection is not an evolutionary process. The DNA in plants and animals allows selective breeding to achieve desired results. Dogs are a good example of selective breeding. The DNA (http://www.pathlights.com/ce_encyclopedia/08dna02.htm) in all dogs has many recessive traits. A desired trait can be produced in dogs by selecting dogs with a particular trait to produce offspring with that trait. This specialized selective breeding can continue for generation after generation until a breed of dog is developed. This is the same as the "survival of the fittest" theory of the evolutionists. Many different types of dogs can be developed this way, but they can never develop a cat by selectively breeding dogs. Natural selection can never extend outside of the DNA limit. DNA cannot be changed into a new species by natural selection. The same process of selective breeding is done with flowers, fruits, and vegetables. New variations of the species are possible, but a new species has never been developed by science. In fact, the most modern laboratories are unable to produce a left-hand protein as found in humans and animals.

***** Evolutionist fail to admit that no species has ever been proven to have evolved in any way. Evolution is simply pie-in-the-sky conjecture without scientific proof*********

More copy pasta, probably from the same source that got its facts wrong earlier?

Sokay.

As I said, I enjoy reading about this stuff.

The author here does not understand evolution either, and gets some very basic things wrong.

One, there is no consideration of mutation. Mutation, or the change of genes through replicative errors, will alter traits, through the altering of alleles. When the author talks of a "DNA limit" he implies that mutations don't happen. This is factually wrong. Mutations are both well-documented and well-understood. DNA gets both added and subracted through mutation. There is no such thing as a "DNA limit".

secondly, he doesn't display a meaningful understanding of the term "species". The term is elusive, even to biologists themselves, who debate just exactly what the term means. Biologists generally agree on what a "species" is, enough to meaningfully study organisms, but this gentleman never bothers providing even a vague definition.

Yes, new species have been developed in the lab. Further, the emergence of new species has been observed in nature, now that we are looking. To claim neither has occurred is provably ignorant/dishonest.

Mutation is scientifically provable and has been proven. Emergence of species is scientifically provable, and has been proven.

The only thing even mildly interesting here is the discussion of "left" and "right" handed protiens, which oddly enough, I was recently reading about, and was going to post here, since consideration of that unique feature of biochemistry supports evolution. Evolution predicts certain things about this unique feature of biology that have been borne out through experimentation.

Turns out, that evolution would predict that almost all life on the planet would have one or the other type of protiens ("right" or "left"). Especially if life decended from a common ancestor.

A creator, on the other hand, would not be bounded by such considerations. It would be free to create organisms in ecosystems that are interdepedent and that had either "right" or "left". The easiest way to disprove evolution then, would be to show this happening.

What we see, however, is that life on our planet is almost universally one type of protein.

When you create proteins in the lab, you invariably get equal numbers of right and left molecules. Turns out, though, at a very small level, there is an ever-so-slight difference in decay rates between the two. Life on our planet favors the kind of protein that is very very slightly less likely to decay.

This is exactly what one would expect with self-replicating molecules competing for resources (basic amino acids) over a very long time. That tiny difference would eventually cause one type to dominate, as simple geometric progression takes care of the rest.

So, we have, once again, utter bullshit, provably false.

Leading to the question that even someone who isn't interested in this stuff can and should answer.

----------------------------------------------------------------

If you hear an argument between two opposing viewpoints, and one side proves consistently to be utter bullshit, and one seems to have better proof, would you still assign equal chances that the two sides are right?

At what point would you start sliding the odds in favor of the non-bullshit side being correct?

Neither of the above questions involves evolution specifically, but are general questions about how one should approach figuring out what is true or not.

No. Let's look back at what you keep crying about regarding Nick Chubb:

Comment on this one freak.

Georgia always has someone ready to step up when it comes to running backs. Nick Chubb is averaging over 7 yards a carry and while he's not as explosive as Gurly he's more bullish. He's a chain mover just not the game breaker.

Chubb averaged 3.8 ypc today.

Lightning Hopkins was a superior artist overall to John Lee Hooker.

Both on a technical level in terms of complexity of composition and difficulty of play, and at the level of song-writing, Hopkins out-shines Hooker, whose fame was more than accidental.

No contest.

The poetry of the man's lyrics lends itself to deeper reflection that Hookers often juvenile-seeming prose.

Lol trying to deflect.

You still don't understand what "appeal to the masses" means.

Because you're mentally frail.

I'll try. :D

It is logically fallacious because the mere fact that a belief is widely held does not necessarily guarantee that the belief is correct; if the belief of any individual can be wrong, then the belief held by multiple persons can also be wrong. The argument that because 75% of people polled think the answer is A implies that the answer is A fails, because, if opinion did determine truth, then there would be no way to deal with the discrepancy between the 75% of the sample population that believe the answer is A and 25% who are of the opinion that the answer is not A. However small a percentage of those polled give an answer other than A, this discrepancy by definition disproves any guarantee of the correctness of the majority. In addition, this would be true even if the answer given by those polled were unanimous, as the sample size may be insufficient, or some fact may be unknown to those polled that, if known, would result in a different distribution of answers.

This fallacy is similar in structure to certain other fallacies that involve a confusion between the justification of a belief and its widespread acceptance by a given group of people. When an argument uses the appeal to the beliefs of a group of supposed experts, it takes on the form of an appeal to authority; if the appeal is to the beliefs of a group of respected elders or the members of one's community over a long period of time, then it takes on the form of an appeal to tradition.

Lot's of people believe 9-11 was an inside job, does that mean it was?

This has been pointed out repeatedly to Avante. Either he is not smart enough to finally drop the idea, or he is just trolling.

Nothing juvenile about whiskey and wimmen and hard times. Hooker the classic Mississippi Delta bluesman, something Hopkins wasn't.

In them blues ya go with regions....

St.Louis...Peetie Wheatstraw
Alabama...Ed Bell
Texas...Blind Lemon Jefferson
Louisiana...Papa Charley Jackson
Memphis....Furry Lewis
Mississippi....Robert Johnson
Georgia....Blind Willie McTell
Piedmont/East Coast....Blind Blake

...and rural/urban, and instruments.

You can compare within a region but it stops there. Obviously we have the famous (in the blues world) like Hooker/Hopkins and the obscure like Bobby Grant, Bo Jones, John D. Fox (a ton of them) who recorded but one record. Hooker and Hopkins the two most prolific recording artists in them blues.

If I;m in the mood for dark low down in the alley blues, it's John Lee Hooker. If I need a lighter more stylistic listen, yep, Lightnin' Hopkins.

by Henry M. Morris, Ph.D.Belief in evolution is a remarkable phenomenon. It is a belief passionately defended by the scientific establishment, despite the lack of any observable scientific evidence for macroevolution (that is, evolution from one distinct kind of organism into another). This odd situation is briefly documented here by citing recent statements from leading evolutionists admitting their lack of proof. These statements inadvertently show that evolution on any significant scale does not occur at present, and never happened in the past, and could never happen at all.
Evolution Is Not Happening NowFirst of all, the lack of a case for evolution is clear from the fact that no one has ever seen it happen. If it were a real process, evolution should still be occurring, and there should be many "transitional" forms that we could observe. What we see instead, of course, is an array of distinct "kinds" of plants and animals with many varieties within each kind, but with very clear and -- apparently -- unbridgeable gaps between the kinds. That is, for example, there are many varieties of dogs and many varieties of cats, but no "dats" or "cogs." Such variation is often called microevolution, and these minor horizontal (or downward) changes occur fairly often, but such changes are not true "vertical" evolution.
Evolutionary geneticists have often experimented on fruit flies and other rapidly reproducing species to induce mutational changes hoping they would lead to new and better species, but these have all failed to accomplish their goal. No truly new species has ever been produced, let alone a new "basic kind."

I did answer the question, Hooker plays a different brand of blues than what we see from Hopkins. And when we do see some ...TOP BLUESMEN....John Lee Hooker is always ranked above Lightnin' Hopkins.

And music is all about the mood, you should know this. It's not about better or worst it's about what fits your mood better at that time, what, ya don't understand that....either?

If my old bulldog just died, I find out my woman is fucking my brother, I;m on empty and about to be evicted as the plant shuts down, I need some lowdown blues or some country, I don't want no Neil Diamond, see how that works.

Little man, you really do need to learn some things about life, you're all fucked up.

Pay attention son and learn something. This video is what is known as....low down...blues, ok? Not to be confused with Jump Blues, Boogie Woogie, Classic.....ok? It's not about better or worst it's about.............MOOD~~~~~~~~~

RG, I bet ya bore the fuck out of everyone ya meet don't ya? Dude..................................CHILL~~~~~~~ ~~~

I humored you, and gave you the chance to talk about something you like and are interested in.

Even in topics where you know something, you can't think critically.

All I asked for was some comparison, and a bit of contrast. Read. Think.

What I got was trivia regurgitation, and "itz da feelingz".

Fuck, how do you tie your shoes?

Why so much of this out there?

[debunked copy pasta from a dead hydrologist]

Because people lie, especially creationists. If you want, I can provide links that show your copy pasta is lying.

Which gets us back to the recurring theme of the thread:

3rd time asked:

If you hear an argument between two opposing viewpoints, and one side proves consistently to be utter bullshit, and one seems to have better proof, would you still assign equal chances that the two sides are right?

At what point would you start sliding the odds in favor of the non-bullshit side being correct?

Neither of the above questions involves evolution specifically, but are general questions about how one should approach figuring out what is true or not.

Stupid, this is music, do ya know what that even is? This is all about mood/feelings, you cannot be this dumb.

I'll go slow...

Hooker is from the Mississippi Delta (Clarksdale) while Lightnin' Hopkins is from Texas (Houston), now if ya knew them blues you'd get this. We see a different style little guy, ok? Not better or worst, ok?

Australopithecus fossils found east of the Great Rift Valley: New remains demonstrate early hominid's adaptability

New fossils from Kenya suggest that an early hominid species—Australopithecus afarensis—lived far eastward beyond the Great Rift Valley and much farther than previously thought.

This has important implications for what we understand about our ancestor's distribution range, namely that Australopithecus could have covered a much greater area by this age."

NFL Encyclopedia, 20,000 football cards. Tons of books/mags.

UCLA scientists unravel the genetic evolution of Zika virus (http://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/ucla-scientists-unravel-the-genetic-evolution-of-zika-virus)How does a formerly innocuous and obscure virus like Zika transform itself into a feared pathogen inflicting a devastating impact on global health?
A new UCLA study suggests that the virus possesses the ability to mutate rapidly, allowing the current outbreak to spread swiftly around the world. The Cell Press journal, Cell Host & Microbe, published the findings today (http://www.cell.com/cell-host-microbe/fulltext/S1931-3128%2816%2930142-1) in its advance online edition.
“The Zika virus has undergone significant genetic changes in the past 70 years,” explained senior author Genhong Cheng (http://www.mimg.ucla.edu/faculty/cheng/genhong.html), a professor of microbiology, immunology and molecular genetics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. “By tracing its genetic mutations, we aimed to understand how the virus is transmitted from person to person and how it causes different types of disease.”
First isolated in 1947, the Zika virus only sporadically caused disease in Africa and Asia until the 2007 Micronesia and 2013 French Polynesia outbreaks. Scientists previously believed that infection was spread solely by mosquitoes and caused only mild illnesses.
The latest epidemic has linked the virus to fetal brain-development disorders and Guillain-Barre syndrome. New modes of transmission, including infection through sexual contact and from mother to fetus, have also surfaced.
“We don’t know why Zika infection was not associated with serious human disease, especially in newborns, until recently,” said co-author Dr. Stephanie Valderramos, a fellow in obstetrics-gynecology at the Geffen School. “We hoped that taking a closer look at the virus’ genetic changes over time would reveal clues to this mystery.”
Cheng’s laboratory collaborated with researchers at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College in Beijing to compare individual genetic differences among 41 strains of Zika virus. Thirty strains originated from humans, 10 from mosquitoes and one from monkeys.
In sequencing the virus, the team identified substantial DNA changes between the strains, showing a major split between the Asian and African lineages, as well as the human and mosquito versions.
“We suspect these mutations could help the virus replicate more efficiently, evade the body’s immune response or invade new tissues that provide a safe harbor for it to spread,” said co-author Lulan Wang (http://www.mbi.ucla.edu/students/lulan-wang/), a graduate student researcher in Cheng’s laboratory.
Additional study findings include:

All contemporary human Zika strains share a genetic sequence more similar to the 1966 Malaysian strain than the 1968 Nigerian strain. This implies the strains causing the current human outbreak evolved from the Asian lineage.
All human strains in the current epidemic resemble the 2013 French Polynesian strain more closely than the 2007 Micronesia strain, suggesting that the two strains evolved from a common viral ancestor.
A key viral protein varied the most between the Asian human strain and the African mosquito strain, indicating a possible structural change in the virus.

Cheng and his colleagues’ next step will be to analyze the viral strains causing the current epidemic and look for genetic targets for drug and vaccine development.
“Our results have raised new questions about the evolution of the Zika virus, and highlight that a lot more research is needed to understand the relationship between the virus and human disease,” Cheng said.
The research was supported by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Institutional Research Fund for Thousand Talents Program at Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.

Yep, Ed "Strangler" Lewis, Gorgeous George, Jim Londos, Lou Thesz, "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers, part of our history.

Don't hear Buddy Rogers too often, he was the inspiration for Flair. Ever see this documentary, one of my favs. Got any other good ones?

I've seen that video, Flair having one of the greatest rasslin' careers ever, and yes Rogers a huge influense on him.

I knew about Buddy Rogers because of the magazines (living out here in Cali), and when I first got into knowing who was who as a kd he ruled the rasslin' world.

Here he is winning the NWA title from Pat 0' Coinner, this was the biggest gate/attendance in history at the time.

Now that is a real quality rasslin match, you can see how heavily Flair borrowed from Buddy in there.

I didn't grow up with the 60s and 70s matches and only saw a lot of the 80s because my brother was a fanatic and had a lot on tape. This is one of my top fives for 80s rasslin

Darwin's finches are pecking their way through evolution (http://www.csmonitor.com/Science/2016/0422/Darwin-s-finches-are-pecking-their-way-through-evolution)

More than 150 years after Charles Darwin proposed his theory of evolution by natural selection, the birds that helped shape his thinking are still actively evolving. And scientists have the genes to prove it.
A team of researchers has identified a gene (http://science.sciencemag.org/content/352/6284/470) involved in shaping the beaks of Darwin's finches – small, seed-eating songbirds in the Galápagos islands, according to a paper published Thursday in the journal Science. The gene, HMGA2, is still actively molding the famous finches today.
Darwin's birds were in fierce competition over scarce seeds after a severe drought struck Daphne Major Island a decade ago – a tiny scrap of land about five hours, by plane, off the coast of Ecuador. Two species in particular, the large ground finch and the medium ground finch, faced off.

But the competition wasn't as simple as species against species.

Medium ground finch beaks range in size, explains Leif Andersson, an animal geneticist at Uppsala University in Sweden, who led the new study. So the medium sized birds with larger beaks were competing against the large ground finches for larger seeds while the individuals with smaller beaks had the smaller seeds to themselves. The larger medium ground finches were often out-competed by the large ground finches, so the smaller-beaked birds stood a better chance in the drought.

"Those with larger beaks tended to die during this drought," Dr. Andersson tells The Christian Science Monitor in a phone interview. And because the birds with smaller beaks survived that drought best, "there's a tendency toward smaller beaks now."

Now, in their most recent paper, the team has identified a gene that contributes to that process, which helps the birds adapt to their drier environment.

After digging into the birds' DNA, the research team found that variation in the HMGA2 gene affects beak size. The genomes of many of the birds that survived the drought contained a variation of that gene associated with smaller beaks.

But that doesn't mean that the HMGA2 variation for larger beaks in the medium ground finches has gone extinct, Andersson says. There are still individuals with that version of the gene and larger beaks.
And, as natural selection dictates, different ecological pressures may lead to a resurgence of that variant, too. "As long as both variants are present in the medium ground finch, they may to respond to what is available, so to speak," Andersson says. It will depend on which birds can forage for food and reproduce most effectively.

The HMGA2 gene isn't the only gene involved in beak size, Andersson says, but it is remarkably influential. And this same part of the genome is associated with stature in humans, too.

"This research shows the power of genome-wide analysis to find genes of importance in fitness-related traits across the entire genome, the equivalent to finding a needle in the haystack," Jaime Chaves, an evolutionary biologist at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Equador who was not part of the study, tells the Monitor in an email. "Identifying these genes allows us to understand how these building blocks of beak dimensions are responsible for such dramatic changes (from a bird perspective, as we are talking differences of millimeters)."

This team of researchers also identified a gene involved in the beak shape of Darwin's finches last year. The variations of the gene they identified then, ALX1, relates to either blunt or pointed beaks (http://www.csmonitor.com/Science/2015/0211/Taking-after-Darwin-scientists-discover-beak-gene-for-famous-finches).
Beak shape and size are two of the ways that Darwin's finches are distinct from each other. As different lineages diverged in order to exploit different resources on the Galápagos islands, differently sized and shaped beaks would have allowed birds to pick up and snack on different seeds.

Darwin's finches are "a model for evolutionary biodiversity on Earth," Andersson says.

The first finches that colonized the Galápagos were just one species, but today scientists recognize 18 different species across the islands.

The birds underwent a process that is a cornerstone of evolutionary biology: adaptive radiation. They began with one common ancestral species, but as they adapted to the different ecological niches on the islands, they began to diversify.

As the birds diversified, their morphology changed to best exploit whichever environment they were in. Ultimately new, distinct species emerged in a process called speciation.

"Many of us wonder and appreciate the amazing diversity of life on earth, both in the present day and in the fossil record. In order to understand how that bio-diversity arose we need to understand the process of speciation. When inferring how evolution occurred in the past, we need examples of how it occurs in contemporary time," study co-author Rosemary Grant, an evolutionary biologist who studied Darwin's finches in the Galápagos in a research team with her husband, Peter, for 40 years, says in an email to the Monitor. "Our research on Daphne Island in the Galapagos measured and demonstrated an unusually strong natural selection event during a two and a half year drought. This study extends our knowledge by showing the actual genes that were selected upon."

"We know that bacteria can evolve quickly in the laboratory but it is quite exceptional to find such a strong evolutionary change in a vertebrate animal," she says. "We are unable to study such events in humans, but we can in long-term studies of natural populations of birds and some other organisms."

There was something about old structures they couldn't built now.

Blocks that weighed tons, how?

Pont

So much we have no explanations for, tons of different ides on how we all got here. We can't....oh yeah that's how it happened.

Why is it we never see any little sea creatures crawling around today?

You've got no explanation either. You're done here.

Joe Montana thinks Clark was a TE.

Nobody said Henry or Chubb can't play.

You're changing the subject because this subject is intellectually out of your league. Stick to your musty old football magazines, dummy.

Dude, Clark was a WR ok guy, time for you to cool the bullshit and....ok ok I was wrong.

You said Henry couldn't play in the pros, and made it very clear ya doubted Chubb.

I doubt did we evolve from fish is out of anyones league.

So wrong all around as usual.

Dude, Joe Montana called him a TE. Time for you to cut the bullshit and....ok ok I'm wrong and fat.

I never said those things about those RBs. You're lying. Again.

You can't even come up with a working theory on how humans came to be. The subject is clearly out of your league.

You're wrong and you're having to lie. Again. As usual.

So I didn't see Clark play being a Niner fan and living in Cali? Blake, I showed you that Niner roster, he was..WR, Charles Young the TE....why ignore that? Why do....ALL....his cards, read....WR...?

Montana assumed everybody knows Clark is his WR, he was saying he can...ALSO...move in tight and play TE. Dude, that wasn't real obvious?

You just posted something about Henry in the last 48 hour, how he's too......

Are you every going to agree with me about anything, so when you talk Chubb it will be negative.

Have I spent any time studying evolution......nope. Would it take me more than a few days to know all about it....nope.

So wrong yet again,

do you think you are more qualified than joe montana to talk about dwight clark?

Of course not.

What is happening is similiar to when we see Jimmy Graham line up out wide. That doesn;t make him a WR.

Clark would come in tight to the tackle now and then, that is what Montana is talking about.

Here in central Cali we got all the Niner games on TV, being a Niner fan I never missed a game, saw every game Clark played in. Like the roster says, like all his cards say, like thAt Niner site ranking him their 4th best WR....................he was a WR.

Dude, I grew up watching Y.A.Tittle throwing ALLY OOP passes to Idaho basketballer R.C.Owens******, Stanfords John Brodie throwing to Stanfords Gene Washngton. First discovered Jerry Rice catching passes from Willie Totten at MVS then Joe Montana as a Niner. Now do you really think I don't know what position Dwight Clark played, come on guy.

****** blocked a FG standing under the crossbar.

https://i.axs.com/2016/05/promoted-media-optimized_57447a196620f.jpg Dwight Clark is a 49ers legend, but where does he rank on the list of best WRs in franchise history?
Wikipedia Commons

Look, we know the San Francisco 49ers have had great quarterbacks in their history, but someone has to be on the other end of those passes, right? Indeed: In addition to great QBs, the 49ers also have had some great wide receivers.
We know you know a few of them; how could you be a football fan and not know them? However, what about the guys rounding out a top-five list of the 49ers' best WRs? That gets tricky!
Or does it? It depends on what you value most in a WR, perhaps. Consistency (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/ClarDw00.htm)? Big-play capability (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/T/TaylJo00.htm)? A lot of S.F. wide receivers benefitted from playing with great QBs, too, so we have to take that into consideration as well.
Regardless, these are the five WRs we decided were the best in San Francisco history. Enjoy!
5. Dwight Clark (1979-1987): He is most famous for The Catch, of course, but Clark also was the go-to receiver for QB Joe Montana in the early years of the 1980s dynasty. Not the most physically gifted guy, Clark averaged 946 yards a season for a five-year stretch that saw the 49ers win their first two Super Bowls.
4. John Taylor (1987-1995): He won three Super Bowls with the team, but Taylor is most remembered for two games: Super Bowl XXIII and the 1989 Monday Night Football game against the Los Angeles Rams where he took two short passes to the house for long touchdowns, both exceeding 90 yards. Taylor had two 1,000-yard seasons (1989, 1991), but he had a short career.
3. Gene Washington (1969-1977): He led the NFL in receiving yardage in 1970 as his QB won the NFL MVP Award (John Brodie) and the team reached the conference championship game. Averaging 18.0 yards per catch during his 49ers career, Washington always threatened the defense with his abilities and speed.
2. Terrell Owens (1996-2003): Forget the drama, because Owens was a player. Unlike our No. 1 below, he put up big numbers with bad QBs. Twice with the 49ers, he led the NFL in receiving TDs, and of course, he had The Catch II in the 1998 playoffs. When he was focused, Owens was a physical beast on the field.
1. Jerry Rice (1985-2000): He leads the NFL in all-time everything for WRs, of course, and he fell into the perfect spot as a rookie—joining the defending champions with a god at QB. In fact, Rice played 14 of his 16 years in San Francisco with Hall of Fame QBs. Nice work if you can get it? Interesting how he tanked in 1999 and 2000 when he didn't have a star QB throwing to him, but that's another topic for another day. Rice was Rice when he was with the 49ers, and the stats are hard to argue against

Blake, give it up guy, this....I JUST CAN'T ADMIT I WAS WRONG.....is getting comical.

I bet the Niners also have their best tight ends, are you saying Clark will be there?

JohnnyZ

However, while looking through the 49ers history, I noticed that there really haven't been that many great tight ends wearing the red, white and gold. As I've said repeatedly, I think Vernon Davis will reach that elite level at some point, but until then, the competition at the all-time TE position is scarce. Accordingly, I've decided to not even hold a vote. Simply put, Brent Jones (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JoneBr00.htm) is the best tight end in 49ers history and it's not all that close. Jones leads all 49ers tight ends in receptions, yards, touchdowns and Pro Bowl appearances and ranks in the top among all 49ers receivers in receptions, yards and touchdowns.
While Jones was never overrated as a tight end, I don't think he would qualify as underrated. I can't imagine anybody not recognizing the talent of Brent Jones and his major contributions during the 49ers glory days. He earned 3 Super Bowl rings and made four trips to the Pro Bowl. The 49ers had great receivers in Rice and Taylor and a great rushing/receiving threat in Roger Craig, but the importance of Jones to the West Coast offense is considerable. Throw in a streak of 125 consecutive games and you've got not only a franchise great, but an all-time great.
Honorable Mentions: Like I said, there is not a lot in the way of tight end talent in 49ers history. Ted Kwalick (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/K/KwalTe00.htm) was a 3-time Pro Bowler at tight end in the early 70s, while Russ Francis (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/F/FranRu00.htm) was the primary TE and immediate predecessor of Brent Jones. I really thought Eric Johnson might have worked his way onto this type of list, but injuries have derailed him and now he's off in New Orleans. If Vernon Davis can continue to improve (he did improve his receptions and yards from year 1 to year 2), I don't see why he won't pass Brent Jones in the 49ers record books. Davis is a receiving tight end who is immensely athletic and could become the primary target of Smith/Hill/whomever. But that's an argument for another day.

Where is Dwight Clark?

Blake, Dwight Clark, was a WR who moved to TE sometimes, Charles Young was the TE however, ok guy? Just say....ok....and we'll move on.

I can talk Frankie Albert, Joe "Jet" Perry, Hugh "King" McElhenny, J.D. Smith, R.C.Owens, Y.A. Title, Leo "Lion" Nomellini, Bob St. Clair, but don't know what position Dwight Clark played, hahahaha~~~~

What about Dave Parks, Freddie Solomon a converted QB, Famous Amos Lawrence, Vic Washington, George Mira, Abe Woodson, Jim Johnson.

Blake, talk to me about Olympic sprinter, world record holder at 100/200 Ray Norton as a Niner.

Long time Niner fan here guy, Dwight Clark was a WR.
