Most likely nothing to see here, but slow news week.

A&M wants to get away from the #WRTS slogan:

So Mack went to A&M because Mack's daddy saw an opportunity to make some cash.

Sad.

The sad part is muddying the waters of a great business opportunity for your family by hiring a lawyer who graduated from A&M, most likely donates to A&M and helped file trademarks for the very controversial Johnny Football. How do you not see that arrangement as a potential problem for A&M and your son's recruitment?

Great architecture really stands the test of time, and that bell tower is definitely great architecture.

Tech has some beautiful buildings too. And captured against the background of snow is breathtaking

:lmao WTF?

I need someone smarter than me to explain because it's a bizarre turn of events.

Looks like Chavis wants A&M to pay that $400K to LSU even though he doesn't think he owes, so he's suing both parties.

This is what I found

Here is the complaint:

http://media.graytvi...vis_lawsuit.pdf (http://media.graytvinc.com/documents/john_chavis_lawsuit.pdf)

Chavis could unilaterally terminate his contract with 30 days notice, so once he turned in his notice on Jan 5, the clock began to tick on the expiration of his contract. Until that clock ran out, he was still contractually obligated to LSU. Aggy and Chavis are saying Chavis did nothing connected to TAMU athletics until Feb 12 and therefore Chavis owes nothing, since his contract would have been terminated with less than 11 months remaining. The key date here is Feb 5, the date on which, under Chavis' notice, his contract would have terminated. LSU is saying that prior to Feb 5 (30 days after Chavis gave notice) Chavis performed some act that constituted a constructive breach of his contract and therefore they are due no less than $400,000 in liquidated damages.

If Chavis discussed TAMU defensive strategy, potential TAMU recruits, appeared in public in a TAMU logo or any of a number of other acts, he could very well be held in breach of his contract and have to pay the $400,000 in liquidated damages for early termination of the contract. I haven't read Chavis' contract, but if the $400,000 was just liquidated damages for early termination, he may well be liable for additional damages for the constructive breach. Additionally, if TAMU induced Chavis to constructively breach his contract, TAMU could be liable for damages for tortious interference with a contract. TAMU could talk Chavis into giving notice and terminating his contract in accordance with its terms, but TAMU could not induce Chavis to breach the contract without facing potential liability.

If this is all true, I don't see how A&M has a case. One of many examples that he was working for them before Feb. 5:

From what I've read, I think A&M has to be involved in the suit as his current employer and it also keeps the case in Brazos County. But the issue is Chavis recruiting for A&M BEFORE that February 4th date. My guess is someone from A&M prematurely told Chavis there would be no issue with potential damages in order to get him out on the recruiting trail as quickly as possible (see the Mack picture), but that situation backfired and here we are. LSU wants $400K in damages, A&M doesn't want to pay anything (as they're already paying old coaches) and Chavis definitely doesn't want to dip into his own pockets.

From what I have read Chavis and lawyer did not have to involve ATM, but it works to his benefit if he does. He is still on for coaching in the Spring though. So I too need more clarification as it appears that AGgIe is not surprised that Chavis has involved them.

Aggie claims its all to keep this out of Louisiana courts. And Brazos county could find Chavis needs to pay LSU in which case the Aggies would pay the fee. Other explanation claims that Chavis could have kept it out of Louisiana without involving ATM. So I am confused.

LSU should countersue. What moron gave Chavis the green light to recruit for aggy while still employed at LSU?

From LSU's 24/7 site:

“Late Friday afternoon, amid an ongoing dialogue between LSU and former LSU football defensive coordinator John Chavis, LSU received notice that Chavis has sued LSU in Texas state court. The lawsuit, which was filed in Brazos County, Texas, concerns Chavis’ early termination of his employment contract with LSU."

“The state of Texas is not a proper venue to decide a contractual dispute between Louisiana State University and one of its former coaches, and LSU will pursue immediate dismissal of Chavis’ suit. LSU has also initiated a legal action against Chavis in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to recover the $400,000 buy-out owed to LSU by Chavis. LSU regrets that what is ordinarily a simple matter must be resolved in litigation, but it will vigorously defend the contractual and constitutional rights of the University.”

Quotes from Junior Day (Inside Texas):

LB Jeffrey McCulloch (Aldine Davis)
"It's always amazing when I come up here. I got to talk to Malik (Jefferson) for a while, might talk to him more tonight. Malik told me he made a great choice enrolling early at UT. He was explaining to my mother why enrolling early is so important. It's something I've thought about doing but I also want to enjoy my final semester of high school because they say you can never go back. I have thought about playing here with Malik, and how we can bring a championship back to Texas and put the Horns back on the map."

DT Kendell Jones (Killeen Shoemaker)
"I measured 6-foot-4, 364 pounds. Texas is definitely one of the great schools, I mean they are the biggest in this state. It was cool. It was fun talking to coach Strong and his staff. Coach Brick Haley was too excited. He was like 'I have to get this guy'. You can tell he's trustworthy."

CB Eric Cuffee (Waco High)
"Great staff and great facilities. I knew the offer was coming. I sat down with Coach Strong in his office and he told me they will wait however long it takes until I commit. (Texas) feels I have great attributes to the team and that I could be one of those championship guys. They showed lots of love and are definitely high on my list."

RB Trayveon Williams (Houston C.E. King)
"It was really nice to see their traditions. They have a real brotherhood here. I noticed the coaching staff and players have a great relationship. Texas moved up into my top list today. I've always been interested but I had to come visit to see for myself and see where they sit at. They made a jump in my recruitment. I haven't made a decision yet. I'll put it on God and see where he puts it on my heart. I'll be coming back for one of the March practices. Texas doesn't have to prove anything to me (on the field) because I know they are in a rebuilding process with coach Strong."

DE Mark Jackson (Cibolo Steele)
"(Texas) showed me what I need to know bout Texas. They showed me how they want to use me at Fox and that really helps. Texas made a strong impression today. Brick Haley is a really down-to-earth coach. I really enjoyed being around him and he showed me what I need to know about how I can fit in here. Best part of the day was getting comfortable with the coaches and building that relationship. Here it's a family oriented business. Here everybody seems more like family. It's not just you're strictly here to play football like other places."

Update on OL Jean Delance of North Mesquite after receiving a Texas offer (OrangeBloods):

"It happened (Friday) evening," Delance said. "I went to sleep, woke up and my coach had tried to call me. He had been on the phone with coach (Joe) Wickline and they had offered me. I put it out there (Saturday) morning. I had been talking to Wick a lot."

"We have pretty lengthy conversations, usually on the phone for 15-20 minutes," Delance said. "He's just trying to get me to flip. I can't lie, they're doing some big things, getting some big recruits there."

"I know it's a big disappointment to OU fans, but I'm going to think as a person, not as a player yet for OU. I'm taking everything into consideration," Delance said. "I'm going to get to Austin soon."

"I like the whole offensive line, basically. He (Wickline) is trying to build that up, get some young guys in. He hasn't offered a lot of linemen or tackles specifically. He's putting a lot of consideration into who they're looking for," Delance said. "He's trying to get some young talent to come in and help. I like coach Strong too. He's a good guy. I like him already."

"They need some young guys. (Wickline) said he's looking for very specific guys to come in early. He's trying to make a change and get things happening there."

"It was a good experience, especially with my teammate here. Texas is one of the good schools around. It's the biggest school in Texas anyway."

"I don't have my ultra-rankings yet. My options are still open to each and every college," Jones said. "It's a slow process."

Update on QB Shane Buechele and taking on a role as a leader of the 2016 class (OrangeBloods):

"It (Junior Day) was good. It went well," Buechele said about the visit. "I got in about 11 (the event started at about 9) so I didn't get to do much. But I've seen it all. I was glad to be here after committing and finally getting it all done with, hanging out with coach, trying to do some things with the coaches and players. It went well."

"The last couple weeks I started thinking about it. A lot of thinking on my part. There's no place like it, academically and sportswise," Buechele said. "I took that into consideration and there was no other choice than the University of Texas."

"I tried (recruiting). There's nothing I can really do right now. It's kind of on the low. But I'm trying to set a statement right now. In three hours, I did what I could do," Buchele said. "The last couple days I've just been trying to take it in. But for sure the next couple weeks, I'm going to narrow it down to guys that I'm going to try to lure and try to catch them. We'll see."

"I think I'm going to (play both). I'm probably going to graduate early, in the winter time. And then I'm going to try to play baseball as well," Buechele said. "We'll see how it works."

"I've always wanted to try to do both. Every school said I may be able to, but it's the fact that (Texas) said I will be able to. I liked that," Buechele said.

"I'm comfortable with it right now. The last couple days have been a little hectic, a little crazy. But it's come down to earth a little bit and I couldn't be a happier guy right now in the position I'm in," Buechele said.

Let's act like children and analyze the tweets in-depth. His tweet about the UT offer said he was "so blessed" to receive it whereas his tween about the A&M offer only said he was "blessed" and not "so blessed". The subtle difference clearly speaks to his favoring of the Longhorns. We are thus his clear leader in the head to head battle against A&M.

So is it safe to say he has been offered?

Maybe in the future, but not yet. Quotes from his trip (Rivals):

"Texas is definitely one of the best visits I've been on. The coaches stated the truth and didn't sugarcoat anything. We got to meet pretty much all of the coaching staff and what's great was the tradition behind Texas. They are a program that will transform me from a boy to a man."

"The head coach works out in the weight room with the players. That's something I haven't seen or heard about from other coaches. The defensive backs coach has coached some top guys that are doing great in the NFL which I loved and he actually said that he is not the type of coach that will force you to learn something if that's not part of your game. He wants you to succeed on and off the field but on the field with the style of play you're comfortable with."

Update on OL JP Urquidez of Copperas Cove (24/7):

“Overall it was good, a dream come true,” Urquidez said. “You know, I’ve been working 17 years to come here, so now I’ve seen everything I’ve needed to see and I’ll probably be pulling the trigger, not here, but overall here coming up pretty soon.”

“My family is really attracted to him because of all of the core values and coming here and becoming a better man,” Urquidez said. “I’ve got to see everything I wanted to see. I got to develop some good relationships with players.”

“It was pretty tempting (to make a commitment),” Urquidez said. “My dad was here, which means a lot for him. Me and him have grown up watching Texas since I was born. The first shirt I had was Texas.”

“We will see what happens from here,” Urquidez said. “We will discuss what’s best for me where my family can see me playing and we will go from there.”

“Every place I have told myself is going to have a good weight room, they are going to have a good place to live, they are going to have a nice stadium. I just needed to talk with the coaches more, that’s the biggest thing. Relationships and really seeing if I could play for somebody.”

“Me and Wickline have a really great relationship,” Urquidez said. “I feel like I’m here with him already. he’s a crazy guy, he is something else, but I can see him put me to the next level after college. I like him a lot. He’s aggressive, I’m aggressive, and we kind of see things the same way.”

OL Chris Owens of Arlington Lamar talks about receiving his Texas offer (OrangeBloods):

"We were in class and weren't really doing anything. Shane sent me a screen shot saying coach (Joe) Wickline wanted me to get on the phone with him," Owens said. "I stepped out of class and called him. First he kind of wanted to get the rundown, see how I was doing, see if I'm going to be able to get to the campus any time soon. Then he informed me about himself a little bit, talked about one of the guys he coached previously, Russell Okung, and he said 'we want to offer you.' But he said that's not the most important part of the call, that I have an offer, but that's not why he called. He said he wants to start to building a relationship."

"I was actually very excited about it, considering the things coach Strong has done, and my best friend Shane is already committed there," Owens said. "I was excited."

"I'm narrowing down my list a little bit, little by little," Owens said. "My timeline, in a perfect world, I'd like to make a decision before my senior season begins so I can avoid distractions."

"What stands out is coach Strong, of course. I remember seeing what he did at Louisville. I had never seen Louisville as a football team being so competitive, only in basketball," Owens said. "He turns around programs, then you see the people he's bringing in. Texas in general, has a great history of winning. And it's definitely a school that produces at my position."

How many stories are there per year of players punching or doing worse to women? Reinforcing that that behavior won't be tolerated (unless you play for someone like Bob Stoops) is important.

Clearly just defending Texas after you called them out for posting character values that are as common in elementary schools as they are in any work environment. Of course all preach different issues, UT (Strong) felt these were things that needed to be addressed at our campus. You put us out as if TT was in any place of higher standard that didn't need acknowledgment of these very principles. Common sense tells you these things shouldn't have to be posted we all know the rules and how to follow them but the fact is not everyone is going off that and you have to place guidelines.

Still don't understand how it missed the mark I just wanted to drop it altogether. Tech declared zero tolerance against abuse but tolerated Bethel to return after he hit a woman. Kind of like what happened to Sanders and Meander at Texas it was zero tolerance for the sexual abuse and accordingly they were dismissed before they had court dates set. That to me is zero tolerance they put themselves in a terrible situation and were therefore dealt the consequences. Why say zero tolerance if you're just going to do what's best for the athletics teams by keeping two players of néed around regardless of how ignorant their actions are.

"I talk to coach (Charlie) Strong and coach (Jay) Norvell weekly," Dickson said. "Me and coach Strong, we just talk about sports in general. Coach Norvell is usually just checking in on me to see how I'm doing."

"I haven't really sat down and thought about a list, I just know (Texas) is one of the best schools in history," Dickson. "It's a great program, has always been a great program, and coach Strong is a great coach."

Best video I've seen from Texas.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iOOAry2SC0

While pushing the the sled it would be nice to hear a coach screamspittn in a player's ear, "Are you gonna get that Fckn A in Physics this year? are you gonna get that Fckn A in Biochemistry this year?"

but im guessn that's asking for too much... Or would be misunderstood as forcing the issue on a female in class...

KEYSHAWN JOHNSON HAS HIGH PRAISE FOR STRONGhttp://imgix.scout.com/132/1323501.jpg?w=50&h=50&faces=trueWilliam WilkersonPublisher

The thought of stopping by Austin with his Team 19 7-on-7 squad last weekend never really crossed Keyshawn Johnson’s mind when he began to schedule his team’s yearly trip to some of the top colleges in the country.
And why should it have? The Longhorns historically haven’t showed California the type of love that so many others in and around the state have.
“It definitely wasn’t in our plans,” he told HornsDigest.

But that changed when Charlie Strong (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=8384776) and several Texas (http://texas.scout.com/) assistant coaches reached out to him urging him to add ATX to his list of stops, which originally included Nebraska (http://nebraska.scout.com/), Oklahoma (http://oklahoma.scout.com/) and Texas A&M (http://tamu.scout.com/).
“Coach Strong and his assistants reached out to us and wanted us to know to come take a look at UT and see what Texas has to offer,” he said. “Don’t just jump over us and go to Oklahoma, Nebraska and A&M when we are right down the street.
“When I initially put it together to stop by Texas, the reason we were going to jump past them was because they haven’t recruited California historically in the past. So I felt there was really no need to go see some school that had no real interest in players from another state. Coach Strong assured me that certainly wasn’t the case with this regime. He’s looking for the best players regardless of where they come from. If they’re in Mars he’s going to get them.”
So the Johnson-led 7-on-7 team, including his son, 2017 star WR Keyshawn Johnson (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7628418) Jr., traveled to College Station on March 6 and then stopped by Austin for a crash course in Longhorns football.
Per Greg Biggins, Scout.com’s West Coast National Recruiting Analyst, the list of attendees were among the better players in California:
Included in this group are 2016 standouts Michael Pittman (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=8064833) out of Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian, Calabasas (Calif.) safety Marquel Dismuke (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7262479), Calabasas (Calif.) safety Isaiah Hayes (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=8217813) and Gardena (Calif.) Serra athlete Khalil Tate (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7493460).
Also visiting will be standout '17 players Johnson from Calabasas (Calif.), Anaheim (Calif.) Servite receiver Terrell Bynum (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=8029199), Newbury Park (Calif.) corner Darnay Holmes (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7293121), Calabasas (Calif.) corner Jermani Brown (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=8185261) and Calabasas (Calif.) quarterback Tristan Gebbia (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=8219331).
All 10 players are BCS level prospects with Pittman (UCLA (http://ucla.scout.com/)), Dismuke (California) and Hayes (Boise State (http://boisestate.scout.com/)) having already committed. Tate is an athletic QB who's getting looks at multiple positions including running back, receiver or safety.
Johnson Jr., has offers from schools all over the country including Alabama (http://alabama.scout.com/), Clemson (http://clemson.scout.com/), Florida State (http://floridastate.scout.com/) and Ohio State (http://ohiostate.scout.com/). Bynum is an explosive WR whose stock is really rising fast and Holmes could end up the top player in the state in the class of '17 and is a dynamic playmaker. Gebbia is a good looking QB who project very well and Brown shows up well on both sides of the ball but will likely end up at corner.
“[Strong] and I had the conversation that Texas is a national football program,” Johnson said. “It’s not a regional or a state program. It’s a national football program. Unless you reach out to those kids in California, or any other state, and show an interest they’ll think you have no interest.
“When I give the kids a list of opportunities to go on trips, and what schools they would like to see, were the three schools I said before [Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas A&M] because Texas doesn’t recruit California. I think that will change under Coach Strong.”
The former No. 1 overall pick in the 1996 NFL Draft couldn’t have been more impressed with what he saw from Strong.
“It was the first time I had the opportunity to meet the man and walked away from that place thinking, ‘You know what, not that I didn’t like my coach, but I wish I could have played for him in college,’” he said. “I can drop my kid off with him and be fine.” As for how he thought his son and the other recruits enjoyed their visit, Johnson said they likened it to USC (http://usc.scout.com/) because of the tradition-rich history.
“The kids were all enamored by that,” he said. “[The staff] told us about the plans to renovate the stadium and to build some other new things. That was impressive. They enjoyed their meeting with Coach Strong. The staff had an off day but they came in and familiarized themselves with the kids so they can start to build those relationships with those kids.”
That was a smart move by the Texas staff given how open those recruits are to leaving the West Coast to find the right fit.
“All those kids that were there don’t mind leaving home,” Johnson said. “As I was explaining to Coach Strong, if you are 2.5 hours from California, which I think is the correct flight time, and you are in L.A. then you are in Seattle, Washington. So what’s the difference? If you can go to Seattle, why can’t you go to Texas if you are in LA? If you don’t recruit them they won’t go to Texas. They’ll go to Oklahoma instead.
“My message to him was look at Oklahoma when they were good and this history of their team with California kids. Imagine if you decide to do a little Florida, a little California, a little Louisiana, and a little Texas. You will be up and running in a hurry. He got it. He said it was all new to him because he wasn’t at a Texas-type program before. All these kids are waiting.”
This was such an eye-opening experience for Johnson and his son that the two will be back for Texas’ spring game on April 18. That’s big news considering the disconnect Johnson believed there was between UT and California recruits.
“It definitely is at the top of our list, I can assure you of that,” he said. “They are going to get new facilities. Coach Strong is going to get his own guys. He’s a no-nonsense coach, which I like. He’s a matter-of-fact coach like I like. Those are the things you need to be to be successful. You can’t lie to these kids. Just tell them what it is so they can run through a wall for you. That’s the type of coach Texas needed and they went out and got him.”
Johnson said the trip down for the spring game will include a lot more time touring the campus and the city of Austin. He and his son weren’t able to do much of that this last time due to the cold weather and time crunch with other visits scheduled.

Update on QB Tristen Wallace of DeSoto (24/7):

“I think it was the right decision for me to open things up since I committed to Tech early,” Wallace said. “I’m still considering Tech, but I just figured it was the right thing to do after talking to my parents about it.”

“I love Texas. It’s a great school, and I really like the coaching staff,” Wallace said. “Texas has a great environment, and I really like what Charlie Strong is doing. He’s turning Texas into an elite program that can get into the College Football Playoff."

“I’ll probably visit Texas in the summer. I’ve already been too Texas too many times,” Wallace said with a laugh. “I always go to Texas since my sister is there, so I’ve seen everything plenty of times. I like the campus, and the facilities are second to none.”

“I grew up watching Vince Young, and he reminds me of myself in the sense that we have a similar style,” Wallace said. “I’ve talked to the Texas coaching staff about how they’re going to use me, and I think they can help me be a true dual-threat quarterback.”

Inside Texas mentioned in a report a few weeks ago that OL Darius James probably wouldn't be a part of the team during the fall. Today they're saying it's their belief he is now off the team and all that's left is an official release from the school. OrangeBloods hinted this morning that "bad news" was on the horizon concerning James.

Inside Texas also saying they are expecting some sort of recruiting event to take place during Texas Relays which is being held March 25th through March 28th. Several guys including WR Dee Anderson (West Mesquite) and DE McTelvin Agim (Hope, AR) are saying they're looking at unofficial visits to UT during that timeframe.
