After WR AJ Brown went down with an injury yesterday, WR Kyle Davis stepped up and been a great target for Buechele. ATH Demetris Robertson, who, as I've said earlier, have had interest in Texas, has been his go-to-guy on the underneath routes and the deep passes. AJ Brown holds a Texas offer and wants to visit in the fall. CB Byron Murphy is another guy the staff has been coming at hard lately. ATH/DB JaMyest Williams visited a few weeks ago and has been pretty good at The Opening, according to those in attendance.

The aggsy class is looking pretty bad, I know they like to make fun of the Texas class for being ranked 57 or something like that, but seriously, we have 3 4'stars and 3 3'stars. They have 4 4'stars and about 12 3'stars. Now if Texas only takes 8 to 10 kids I see their point, but we are taking about 20 to 23 kids and we are in good shape with a lot of pretty awesome players. Not to mention I wouldn't be surprised to see Texas get a 5'star QB in the next rankings.

I know aggsy like to think they made the right move to the SEC but for a bunch of fans who are always searching for respect, they won't be getting it anytime soon if they think they can just trot out a bunch of 3'star turds and win 10 games. Even with their shitty non-conference they still have to find a way to manufacture 6 conference wins and i don't see that happening any time soon.

Yeah. With Greg Little de-committing from A&M, I would expect them to come after Jean Delance hard. Texas is running out of OT options. I'm not as worried with the interior OL, but the tackle spots are running out of options. Zach Shackelford of Belton is an OG I would think Texas could get "late".

-two sources revealed that WR Devin Duvernay of Sachse has called the UT staff to commit this offseason, but the staff told him to hold off until he changes his mind about playing with his twin brother, Donovan. UT is not interested in a package deal.

-LB Dontavious Jackson from Alief Elsik has told the UT coaches he wants to commit, but he plans on taking a handful of official visits before shutting it down in January.

-WR Tren'Davian Dickson (Navasota) and ATH Christian Wallace (Sealy) are expected to end up at JUCOs. Dickson should be making his decision in a few weeks and A&M is thought to be his leader.

-LSU and Ole Miss are leading for S Deontay Anderson of Manvel.

-TE Kaden Smith of Flower Mound Marcus is considering visiting UT before his senior season and his father has developed a really good relationship with Coach Traylor.

-2017 CB DeAngelo Gibbs of Suwanee, GA makes an annual trip to Texas to workout with well-known DB coach, Clay Mack. He's also trained S Jason Hall and CB Bryson Echols. Look for him to visit UT during that trip.

“I have a bit of an insight to what those coaches are doing at Texas because my son Riley was on that staff last year as quality control,” Dodge said. “I absolutely, as a former player there, just love Charlie Strong and I’ve known Shawn Watson since probably 1996, and I’ve always respected the heck out of him both as a coach and a recruiter."

“I truly think that they’re going to do great things there and the one thing I love about Charlie Strong is that he comes in and talks about his five core values… and he means it. It’s a unique thing to our society these days to see that, but he means it. That staff is very smart, they aren’t just jumping out there and offering every quarterback, or whatever position, out there. They do it with due diligence.”

“The first thing about Sam (Ehlinger) is that he’s already got a foundation of success under his belt, and he’s got some of that adversity under his belt and he’s just a sophomore,” Dodge said. “You know, now we got a guy for another two years who’s already every bit of a season veteran as anyone else.”

“Sam is a guy who is very physically gifted," Dodge said. "He’s a dual-threat quarterback and the running part of his game is more of a physical type. “He’s a lot like Chase Daniel, when I had him at Southlake Carroll. Sam’s a physical kid.”

“From a throwing the ball standpoint, Sam can throw the deep ball as well as anybody I’ve ever had,” Dodge said.

I was actually wondering the same thing as the Dickson news came down. My opinion has always been four WRs for the 2016 class because I don't think Strong is in love with his older skill players.

I believe they'll chase Dee until the bitter end using the Malik and McNeal connection, and I think you have to take Duvernay if he's willing to split up with his brother. Plus, if Dickson is a grade risk, you may need to take that extra guy anyway if the opportunity presents itself.

Then there's the smaller chances with the OOS guys like Salomon (Florida) and Brown (Mississippi), but they need to visit.

All in all, I'm sticking with four until further notice.

I agree -- let's get some fatties now. DT and OLine must be top priority, especially if we have LBs already or nearly on board.

I'm really worried about our DT situation _next_ year. Assuming Ridgeway has a great season, he probably jumps to the NFL (he'll be a junior this year, right?) and we're left with nobody to inherit the position other than Poona Ford and Chris Nelson. Ford is very undersized and Nelson has yet to really play. Lampkin trolled us completely and unless we convert someone like Vasser (already seems to be like 270) we'll have almost no youth at the position. Should theoretically be a very attractive recruiting line to offer top guys in the nation especially after Malcolm and Ridgeway (assuming he has a stellar year).

Yeah. He was 6-7-8-6 or something. He was also pretty bad on the first day of 7-on-7, but he was good the last day. Buechele lost his magic when AJ Brown went down with an injury. It's also worth noting, that Patterson's team was favorite to win it all before the tournament started.

EDIT: Just went back and looked. I can't find the first day (I think that was the day they were during army stuff?), but he was ranked 8-9-6-6 and then ended up as the MVP. They should really split it up, so there would be a 7-on-7 MVP and a week MVP.

2017 QB Sam Ehlinger and DE Erick Fowler talk regularly and claim they want to play together.

They played against each other a few weeks ago in 7-on-7 and Fowler took to Twitter aftewards and raved about Ehlinger's ability.

I think the list reflects the uphill battle that is 2016 OL recruiting.

2017 looks promising so far with Walker Little being the prize OT, but still way early.

It may be a premature thought, but I do wonder if Wickline's seat is hot.
