“One of my favorite parts was just walking around with the players and hanging out with them,” McCulloch said. ”I had a lot of fun with Malik (Jefferson) and those guys. I loved it. It was just a great time and a great experience.”

“With Coach Strong being a defensive-minded coach, I feel like I could really see myself playing for him,” McCulloch said. “He’s a great coach overall, and I like the fact that he’s trying to build something great at Texas.”

“They said that they could see me playing all three linebacker spots,” McCulloch said. “That would be good for me because I’m a versatile player. I wouldn’t have a problem playing any of the spots.”

“My favorite part of the visit was just getting to know the coaches,” Humphrey said. “I liked Coach (Sterlin) Gilbert a lot. He said they like how big I am. He said that I’m a versatile player, so I can move around a little.”

“My meeting with Coach Strong went great,” Humphrey said. “He just said that I have a lot of upside and that they could utilize me if I go there.”

“There isn’t another school in the nation like Texas and with the fan support of Texas,” he said. “Both (Cal and Texas) offer a great education and have great football. It’s kind of hard to compare the two.”

I'd give Allen Wilson a phone call. He retired from HS coaching in 2011 but he's said he'd leave the door open to return to coaching someday. I've always wondered why he never got a phone call about coaching as an assistant at the next level...especially somewhere in Texas. He's basically a legend in Dallas/East Texas area and he can coach a running game for sure. All these kids parents know who he is.

For Mark the man who saved his life in his opinion was ex Texas professor Dr. Todd. Todd's current foundation runs out of Royal Memorial.

Hudson and Henry are very close. So close Henry was with him on the visit. Henry wants Hudson in Austin.

I know Mark wants the visit kept quiet so I'm not going to go into details, but unlike what others have reported we have a real shot.

The visit and that family atmosphere rubbed off on them in a big way this weekend. It boils down to his mom as she’s been the one to stay vocal about wanting her son close to home. And it’s not that she likes Texas more than LSU. If LSU were in Austin, she would be all purple-and-gold all the time. It’s just a distance thing, which is understandable because if he did stay home, she could go see him with less than a 30 minute drive. That being said, Fowler has told the staff that this is where he wants to be, and his mom supports that. Expect LSU and Texas to go in-home with him this week to make a final push now that both programs have landed official visits from him. I still wouldn’t rule out the potential for a flip, but I’m told this weekend was just what LSU needed. If he doesn’t sign with the Tigers, it’s certainly not because of a lack of effort. “We’ve done literally everything we can” is how one source put it. I think that he probably does stick, but it’s worth monitoring all the way until that fax rolls in.
