160,000 excess deaths in five month isn't panic porn, it's real as a heart attack.

Not to you, of course.

What are the lives of hundreds of thousands of mere mortals compared to your self-regard and internetz glory? Not worth a fig, apparently.

But they aren't excess deaths. This is where you cross over into stupid narratives and half-truths. 20m people likely have/had COVID. normal death rate even last year was aboutr 170K out of 20M. How many people died as they normally would have yet because they had COVID they were considered COVID deaths because the spreadsheets are all different across jurisdictions? Clearing cases vs listing causes of deaths, a case is cleared by a death, ergo the case gets marked as "cleared by death". Then someone comes along and says "look at all the COVID deaths!"

Again, not saying all, but if you don't know the accuracy you're just taking the nihilist bet.

Nope still just people who are past the age of life expectancy. Icu census in a free fall but some how the deaths are steady. But then when you reveal d.o.d. you understand why. More than half of deaths being reported occured outside of August and early July.

Its basically chunpdump quoting two words from his enemies and responds out of context. Go to fl covid site they are starting to report date of death v report of death.

Should be illegal

has nothing to do with your minimal conception of what is occurring. You cannot use a reported date of death to create a graph and use the graph to create any type of mathematically correct outcome. You have to use the actual date of death, and you actually have to have context behind the data. Why does this have to be repeated?

(Reuters) – Facebook Inc <FB.O> said on Tuesday it removed 7 million posts in the second quarter for sharing false information about the novel coronavirus, including content that promoted fake preventative measures and exaggerated cures.

Facebook released the data as part of its sixth Community Standards Enforcement Report, which it introduced in 2018 along with more stringent decorum rules in response to a backlash over its lax approach to policing content on its platforms.

I'm an optimist. It sucks that sick, elderly people are dying.

But I think we are turning a corner on this pandemic. It was a GOOD thing that a large number of young, healthy people got infected. Slows the spread and moves us closer to herd immunity.

would have stayed if i could. nothing against charlottesville, but all my family and most of my good friends are in LA, and that's a lot of people. the food is also better. the weather is better.

cost of living is a big issue, but Mrs. Spurraider is on her way to an MD, so that's the plan

in the meantime on one income while juggling tuition, the low cost of living has been a welcome element

has nothing to do with your minimal conception of what is occurring. You cannot use a reported date of death to create a graph and use the graph to create any type of mathematically correct outcome. You have to use the actual date of death, and you actually have to have context behind the data. Why does this have to be repeated?

yet another election tactic, to LIE about cases and deaths

Hospitals ‘scrambling’ to cope with Trump administration’s abrupt change

In a memo sent by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on July 10, hospitals in the United States were ordered to start reporting COVID-19 patient information to a new centralized database :lol

set up by President Donald Trump’s administration. :lol

the requirement is burdensome for hospitals and will have “serious consequences on data integrity.” :lol Loss of integrity is The Point :lol

in July, Trump’s administration “ordered hospitals to send daily reports about virus cases to a central database in Washington — controlled by (Health Secretary Alex) Azar’s department — instead of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Such reports include
information about current patients,
the number of available beds and
ventilators, and
other information vital to tracking the pandemic.

The order raised alarm that the data could :lol be !!!! politicized :lol or

withheld from the public.” :lol

In three of the last four major pandemics after 1918, the US has underperformed the rest of the world.

Trump isn't to blame for the US racial caste system, economic inequality or oligopolistic health care. Nor is he responsible the national ethos that cares more about aggregate GDP growth than public health and saving lives. The pandemic has exposed these systemic problems, unfortunately Trump's leadersp is making them all worse.

Unfortunately also, voting Trump out of office will do zilch to fix the systemic problems that left us vulnerable to SARS-CoV2.

The 1957 H2N2 flu virus (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-resources/1957-1958-pandemic.html) caused 1.1 million deaths globally out of a worldwide population of 2.9 billion (https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/world-population-by-year/), or 0.038 percent on a per capita basis; whereas in the United States, it caused about 116,000 (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-resources/1957-1958-pandemic.html) deaths out of a U.S. population of 178 million (https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/us-population/), or 0.065 percent on a per capita basis. The 1968 H3N2 virus (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-resources/1968-pandemic.html) resulted in 1 million fatalities worldwide out of a global population of 3.6 billion (https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/world-population-by-year/), or 0.028 percent on a per capita basis; in the United States, there were 100,000 deaths out of a population of 203 million, or 0.049 percent on a per capita basis. The 2009 H1N1 virus (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-resources/2009-h1n1-pandemic.html) caused far fewer overall deaths both globally and within the U.S., with 284,000 fatalities globally (https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2012/06/cdc-estimate-global-h1n1-pandemic-deaths-284000) and a mere 12,469 fatalities in the U.S. (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-resources/2009-h1n1-pandemic.html); per capita fatality rates were the same (.004 percent on a per capita basis). But COVID-19 has reflected the reversion to American underperformance: as of August 13 (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/), confirmed global fatalities (out of a worldwide population of 7.8 billion (https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/world-population-by-year/)) were 749,776, or 0.0096 percent on a per capita basis, versus 169,488 deaths in the United States (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/) out of an existing population of 331 million (https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/us-population/), or 0.051 percent on a per capita basis.https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2020/08/the-pandemic-has-revealed-americas-zip-code-map-of-inequality.html

From the discussion @ the link

This cohort study found that the absolute increase in deaths over baseline (ie, excess mortality) observed during the peak of 1918 H1N1 influenza pandemic was higher than but comparable to that observed during the first 2 months of the COVID-19 outbreak in New York City.
However, because baseline mortality rates from 2017 to 2019 were less than half that observed from 1914 to 1917 (owing to improvements in hygiene and modern achievements in medicine, public health, and safety), the relative increase during early COVID-19 period was substantially greater than during the peak of the 1918 H1N1 influenza pandemic.

He should cling to it, those numbers are lowballed.

HOUSTON — New research out of the University of Texas shows that COVID-19 was spreading farther and faster than anyone knew at the start of this pandemic.

Researchers at UT just released their findings. They went back to throat swabs taken in Wuhan, China and Seattle, Washington weeks before those cities were locked down.

They aren't

You are ignorant

tholdren
08-15-2020, 08:54 AM
With that many cases, researchers now believe the first case in Seattle probably arrived around Christmas and they estimate at least a third of those undisclosed cases in the U.S. were in children.

The first case of coronavirus in Washington State was not reported until January 21.

The governor started shutting down schools by early March. At that time, the state reported close to 150 cases. UT researchers now believe that number was closer to 9,000 and they believe because so many of the cases were in children, whose symptoms tend to be milder, those cases went undetected.

Wasn’t a nursing home. It was assisted living. Average length of stay for assisted living is usually 2 years (that’s until they move out not until they die), no idea how long life expectancy is.
