Please post anything written by me that qualifies me having a hard on for Mack Brown. I'll wait.

And while I'm waiting, I'll continue to laugh at foolish assholes who believe the shit they read on subscription sites. Those fuckers know as much as you and I. Nothing. All I know is that piece of shit could win the Big 12. Do you really believe in your feeble mind that if he does, they'll fire him? Are you that much of an idiot? Even if he loses to Baylor there's a significant chance that he retains his job. Who's going to fire him? He's entrenched. He has the backing of the big donors with acutal power. Not these new money pussies who think they can facilitate change. If he steps down, it will be because he wants to. What is so hard to understand about this? He's a power hungry, egomaniacal douchebag who won't quit. You really think some pussy from Arizona State is going to fire him without the say-so from the mega-donors? And even if Mack steps down, the University of Texas isn't paying $10 million a year plus 1% of the LHN to Nick Saban. That's got to be the most retarded thing I've ever heard.

No clue whether or not Saban will come. That remains to be seen. But Mack is gone. No question about that.

No. He's gone. Where there's smoke, there's fire. whether or not they get Saban remains to be seen. But Mack is gone. It's just a matter of how high or how low of a note he leaves on at this point. I'm sure everyone would prefer a high note.

Where's the smoke coming from? That same smoke's been hanging around for years. He's still here. They must have let Ramonce Taylor back in the building.

Lol. Brah, many of us have beat that drum since the Simms years. I can't believe the latitude a MNC will bring a motherfucker. It's one thing to hate a coach and still have him bring in the talent to compete and beat the shitty Texas Tech's of the world. It's another when that talent starts going to other schools. Unfortunately, the lesser talent still beats the shitty Tech's of the world.

when UT and OU suck the conference sucks. your big name schools, in a way, set the standard and kind of recruit for the conference. nobody wants to come to Tech to beat UT when they suck. more would come if they knew they had a chance to knock off 2-3 powerhouse teams each year and get their name out there.

I was at UT/TT in 02. I thought Mack would be gone within the year tbh.

They’d go on to win 35–13, buying Brown one more week of relative calm. But in subsequent weeks, after the Horns squeaked by woeful West Virginia 47–40 in overtime and then got drummed by Oklahoma State, 38–13—the most lopsided home loss of Brown’s tenure—the calls for Brown’s head would resume. Not even a 41–16 manhandling of Texas Tech on Thanksgiving day would quiet the critics. When Jamail defended the coach to an Austin American–Statesman sportswriter after the OSU debacle, fans aimed their vitriol at him, threatening to topple his statues on campus, Saddam Hussein–style. The old lawyer, who went to his first UT game in 1942, refused to let up, partly because he wanted to shift attention off Mack, but mostly because he loves a good fight even more than beating OU. “Tell them to send me my money back, and then they can pull the statues down,” Jamail said over the phone the morning after the Tech game. “I don’t know who the hell those f—ing crybabies on the Internet are. Could be Aggies or the Taliban, for all I know. Or f—ing al Qaeda. Because every real UT fan is proud of this team and the way they’ve turned their season around.”

Two things have happened this season that points to Texas falling off their perch.

1 We have switched places with Ags in the minds of Texas recruits. There is no denying that. It has happened before when Fran took over, but it was short lived because Texas was still winning.

2. The LHN is getting little viewship and it's killing our opportunity to be in front of recruits. Ags like to point out that they are getting great ratings, to me it means nothing unless you are the NBA or NHL. But it does mean that there are less Texas high school recruits watching Texas football, and that means a lot.

Mack struggled to beat great teams with top level recruits, what is going to happen when he is coaching 3-star athletes. He might like his job and the perks, but he has never been one to do it very well, he usually relied on his assistants to do it for him. Well they also aren't doing it very well.

Now I don't know what is going to happen, but Texas needs a change or we will be back to 1985.

It's a lot of fun to sit back and watch how this unfolds. It's not a surprise to see some smoke coming from the Alabama side today because of the possibility that the Texas job officially opens this weekend and Alabama isn't playing again until their bowl. I think we're getting really close to an official decision.

It's possible as he does have some NFL experience, but I wouldn't believe McClain as far as I can throw him...and I can't even pick his fat ass up.

Hearing McNair's tone and hearing him say things like "this is not a long-term rebuilding process -- I want to make that clear" I really doubt he will take a college head coach that has no NFL head coaching experience. He's likely going for either a solid NFL assistant or a current/former head coach.

Saban's going to be on Gameday at various times tomorrow to those that haven't heard. I'm hearing part of the reason is to talk about his extension he just signed today to stay at Bama. Will be interesting to see if that proves true or not.

Would be painful to see Saban, Malzahn (just signed 6-year extension and sure rush had to do with impending Texas job), and Peterson all come off the table.

There's no question Jamail has done an insane amount for UT, but it doesn't give him the right to act like the grandmother from "Wedding Crashers". It's not a good idea to have a special olympics level athlete as your backup quarterback. The results are what you saw in Waco today. A good QB who could make a few plays down the field gets that game. Brown should pay the price for being lazy in recruiting.

He may stick around, but it won't get better materially with his crew of yes men.

Ironically, of all the seasons were Mack deserved a break, it was possibly this one -- I mean it's hard to overcome the loss of Ash, Hicks, Grey, Whaley, and the list goes on.

However, I'm not going to defend him keeping his job. He put himself in a position where his fate rested in Case McCoy's hands, and so he'll get exactly what he deserves if he is forced out because of this. That's my 2 cents. It's sad because he's a good guy and he really did do a lot for the program, but this is ridiculous.

Here is my case for Mack to be gone

1. 4 blowout losses to Rival Oklahoma
2. Keeping worthless assistants too long. This starts with GDGD and ends with Manny Diaz, but the part that really irks me is that Fat Dog is still on the payroll doing absolutely nothing.
3. Zero accountability for both players and coaches. This dates back to 2010 when everyone quit on this team including most assistants and even Mack himself. They don't hold the players accountable for their play so the players don't give their best all the time.
4. Recruiting Blunders on the oline and QB. I give him a pass for Garrett Gilbert, but Case McCoy is so bad when he thought about quitting and going to another school Abilene Christian didn't want him. So I ask, what the hell is he doing here at Texas. There is no excuse for Texas to have so many misses at oline. Not when I'm watching aggsy produce on of the best Olines I've seen in many many years.
5. Falling behind Aggsy in recruiting, he is losing at the one thing he does best, if he can't do that, what good is He?

Since the rumor came out that Harbaugh is considering a move to the college ranks, I've enjoyed the prospect of a Harbaugh - Saban rivalry. The nepotistic crony nature of the program just went to far. Loyalty to hires is to be admired, but all effective leaders know when they are lugging around dead weight or rotten hires.

Again for those of you have forgotten where we were, Mack brought UT back. Just take a look at how we recruited before him.

Its past time Mack steps down gracefully. He got comfy. This is not a job where one avoids unpleasant decisions to stay comfy and well liked.

Inside Texas reported this morning that Mack had agreed before the Baylor game to accept his buyout of $2.75 million plus an extra package that isn't specified in his contract. He will be in New York today for a meeting with Patterson.

If there is a deal in place, with open records, we'll all eventually know what he was paid to resign.

This I can agree with. I am with everyone that it's time for Mack to move on. What I don't understand is all the ultra negative comment about him. It's like everyone forgot where the program was at before he arrived. It's time for him to move on, but I wish him well and should be involved with the program in some capacity.

Lotushorn posted this yesterday.

It's up to Mack to resign, which they hear he is leaning towards.
Saban is leaning towards Texas. He wants to bring Matt Campbell with him from Toledo (their HC) as OC since he believes his OC will be a HC. Campbell is one of those coaches that no one knows of but is in his 30s and considered by NFL administrations as the real deal in terms of coaching (and he won a Rivals best recruiter in the MAC award).
If Saban changes his mind, Harbaugh WANTS the job, but it's John not Jim that dearly hopes to get a shot at it.

There's a huge amount of prestige with the UT position, plus you generally get paid better as the Longhorn HC than most pro jobs. Harbaugh could just want the change. With a move to UT, that would be no less than a lateral in $, which is not often the case. So he could settle into a position that he could be at for decades. There is no such security in the pros, you earn a couple titles with UT, and you'll be okay. Mack stopped at 1.

FYI, Saban personally visited over ten recruits on behalf of Alabammer last week. Not something a dude on his way out would be doing, imho

I'll play Devil's advocate. Would you stop doing your current job if it prevented a smooth transition to your next job? Continuing to recruit would be my built-in diversion to make everyone think "business as usual." I'd add that several Texas coaches are on the road today recruiting and all of them know they're working elsewhere next year. We shall see.

If Saban wanted Bama he would have signed the extension by now. If Saban didn't want Texas, Then Texas would have gone with Mulzahn. Mulzahn and Saban both have the same agent.

I think he would be delegating more to his assistants, tbh.

To answer your question, though, no. Of course not. But he has been on quite the recruiting blitz since the Iron Bowl

As for Mack and his staff, are there any credible, cite-worthy sources reporting that they're gone? I know there aren't any on the Saban side...

Maybe I'm jaded by the whole Cam Newton saga, but there was enough "smoke" around that one that you could see it from space. Countless "insiders", including some from the national media (like Thamel), were reporting imminent doom for Auburn. Turns out that nobody knew what the hell they were talking about, yet pay sites made a killing from the increased traffic and new memberships.

I get it, though. You guys have every right to be hungry for a new HC, and Saban is the holy grail. Although I must admit that the foam at the mouth fervor surrounding this situation is entertaining as hell to watch. Auburn has been there too, including the tracking of private planes and real-estate transactions :lol :lmao

Lets be honest, if swoopes is as good as you and some UT fans think he was only going to play 2 years at UT before going to the NFL anyways. If he would have played 4 years at UT after red shirtting the chances of him being just an average (David ash) qb are pretty high.

Swoopes is raw and needs time to develop. I wouldn't agree with your argument under any circumstances; however, it may have held water if Swoopes contributed in some meaningful way - or at least got some meaningful playing time (ie some packages of plays). But to burn his shirt for garbage time is inexcusable. Not to mention you don't have to look far to find QBs that don't break out until JR or SR year (after redshirting). You can assume he would be drafted early but that doesn't make sense being we really don't know what the kid will do.

I don't know how much truth there is in this, but I read the contract itself was only 7-8 million a year for 6 years with a 2 year option but there was a 20 million signing bonus kicked in by the big money men off the books that makes up for some bad investments. That is the part Bama can't match right now. They can equal him in contract but not in the signing bonus.

Any talk of a QB transfer is welcome news, even if it's from a school with absolutely no offense. I'm not sure what is going to happen with Ash but he is one hit away from being janitor of my old middle school. If he comes back I hope he knows what he is risking. With that said, the prospect of turning the offense over to Swoops is dismal to say the least. He isn't ready and one off season won't make him ready.
