Is there any news regarding Texas and Josh Mabin? I feel A&M is pretty close to offering this kid. Obviously coming off an ACL tear so I guess teams want to see if he's fully healthy yet. Offering early could go a long way in situations like these though.

A&M are, again, the leader for DE Jarrett Johnson, per ESPN.

"It (Friday Night Lights) was good," Johnson said of his second trip to Aggieland. "The scrimmage was on point. I think they're definitely my No. 1 again."

"At Texas, I went there for their spring game and it was cool. I got my chance to walk around on the field but we were up in the stands when the game started," Johnson said. "At A&M I was down on the sidelines for the full [scrimmage]. It definitely felt a lot different. It was a little more comfortable."

"When I talked to him (Kevin Sumlin), it was like we've known each other for a while now," Johnson said.

"It was cool," Johnson said. "They laugh when the time is OK to laugh but they take care of business when it's time to take care of business."

"I might have [a decision], but knowing how the recruiting process has been so far, it'll probably happen a little bit later," Johnson said. "I'll probably wait a little bit longer."

Update on WR Montrel Meander (24/7):

“Life has been great since I signed (with Texas),” said Meander. “Everything is good. I especially love the fact that now I don’t have to answer a lot of phone calls or narrow anything down. I can focus on what’s important to me.”

“Since I committed I’ve always looked forward to watching myself progress to the point where I can help my team win it all,” Meander explained. “Honestly, I’m very impatient to get down there and begin playing for Coach (Mack) Brown.”

“They’ve told me they want me to play as a true freshman,” he said. “They want me on the field. Coach Brown and Coach (Darrell) Wyatt say that my speed will be a lot of help. They feel like I’ll be able to really stretch the field. I’m definitely okay with that too. That was my job on offense this past season for Palo Duro. I used my speed to my advantage and will continue to do so.”

“I’ve been doing the workouts for about three weeks now that they sent over to me,” Meander said. “They get pretty intense week after week. I’ve also changed my diet up for the better. I’m hoping that makes a big difference as well. I’m eating a lot healthier. I know if I stick to both, I will see some changes before I report down there.”

“As far as track goes, I’m doing well,” he added. “I run the sprint relay. I run the 4x2 and the 200 and have done good. My fastest 200 time this year has been a 22.3 so far. I’m actually planning on running the 100 this weekend just so I can see how fast of a time I get on it.”

“I tell myself every single time I get to perform, whether it’s on the football field or the track, that I will perform like it’s my last time shining. I just want to do whatever I possibly can to earn a starting position on the football field and that’s what I plan to do.”

FYI that Nike is holding an NFTC (Nike Football Training Camp) tomorrow in Allen, TX. Most of the top-notch prospects from the region will be in attendance along with some 2015 guys as well. Basically, you have to attend this event if you want an invitation to The Opening in Oregon this summer. I'll post anything relevant that I can find once reports are published. This event is always interesting because it's this type of setting where new names seem to surface.

2015 S Deionte Thompson of West Orange-Stark reviews his visit to Texas last weekend (HornsNation):

“He (Patrick Suddes) was walking toward me and smiling and I was like, ‘Oh, wow,’ ” Thompson said. “He told me what happened and that he’s at Texas now. That was cool. I was just shocked more than anything.”

“I didn’t know he was at Texas until I got there,” he said. “That was pretty surprising.”

“I felt that (Texas) offer was great,” he said. “Just the fact that coach Mack Brown offered me is great. It was great and meant a lot to me growing up as a Texas fan and watching them. The coaches were just telling me that they want me there at Texas, that I mean a lot to them.”

“I didn’t feel conflicted. My commitment to Bama is strong right now,” he said. “Texas is No. 2.”

“They were mainly focused on how much they wanted me there, how I can make an impact on Texas’ program,” he said. “They said I should close to home. I have a relative who lives in Austin, and they wanted me to know they want me to stay close to home.”

“Me and Earl (Thomas) have been in contact. When he’s down in Orange, we work out most of the days he’s here,” Thompson said. “He’s told me coach [Duane] Akina is a great coach and a cool guy. He says he really responds to how we need to be coached and that he’s a great man, a great coach and everything about him is great.”

Quotes from the legal guardian of DE Sione Teuhema and 2015 OL Maea Teuhema (24/7). The brothers were in Norman over the weekend and are scheduled to be at A&M on Wednesday followed by a trip to LSU this weekend:

“We've told all of the schools recruiting the boys that we're not committing anywhere at least until after spring football,” Taliaferro said. “Right now we're trying to get to as many places as possible, get as much information as we can and then make the best decision.”

“I think they'll wind up going somewhere that's within a drive from home,” Taliaferro said. “Based on what we're looking for, and on the schools we've visited, Texas is probably the best fit we've found so far.”

“The fact that they (Texas) didn't take an end last year really helps them,” Taliaferro said. “Then the fact that the coaches have mentioned a few times that Sione is the same size Brian Orakpo was really has him excited. He knows he can go to Texas and if works hard he can be a stud.”

“We've got a top-five in mind right now,” Taliaferro said. “Let's just say that Texas is way up there.”

A few quotes from LB/S Edwin Freeman of Arlington Bowie (24/7):

“The Texas visit was exciting,” Freeman told Hookem.com. “I had a really good talk with the Texas coaches and some of the Texas players. They made me feel very welcomed and explained a lot of stuff to me. It was a really good visit overall.”

“I liked what I saw from the coaches and players when I was there. They looked really good. It was intense for sure. I think they’re going to be very good real soon,” he said.

“Right now my top three is still the same,” said Freeman. “It’s Texas, Texas A&M and TCU in that order. Those are the only three I’m considering and I’ll pick from one of those toward the end of spring. I definitely want to make a decision before summer begins. I want it out of the way.”

According to a press release from his high school, LB Andrew Beck of Tampa, FL will be announcing his college decision tomorrow night. That's about three months earlier than he had originally planned so this can be looked at in one of two ways, imo. He just returned from an unofficial visit to Stanford this weekend and he really, really liked his visit -OR- the Texas staff has been encouraging of him to jump on board now if LB Otaro Alaka is close to joining the mix. LB/S Edwin Freeman has also been giving them good vibes so that position is filling up quickly. Florida State seems to be the sleeper pick based on geography.

More quotes from the newest Texas commitment, DT Courtney Garnett (24/7):

“I think that's the best fit for me,” Garnett said of Texas. “I've been other places and I've gone through the process. With Texas and Coach Bo, I feel it's the best fit for me.”

“He (Bo Davis) did a great job recruiting me,” Garnett said. “He gave me a first-hand take on how it's going to be when I get there. He just made everything real comfortable for me."

“My mom and dad really enjoyed it at Texas,” Garnett said. “I know it's a great place for me and now they feel like it's a great place, too.”

“I couldn't be happier,” Garnett said. “I picked a school that was the best for me and it's a great program. Now I'm going to move on from here, not worry about it anymore and hopefully everything will fall into place.”

2015 QB/ATH JW Ketchum of Fort Bend Marshall discusses his development as a QB and his Texas offer (24/7):

“I feel I've got a lot to prove,” Ketchum said. “As you progress on it's only going to get better, so we'll see what happens.”

“For the first time back out in a while working my mechanics, I felt great,” Ketchum said. “I feel like I did great and I feel great doing it.”

“It was great to get the (Texas) offer,” Ketchum said. “It's close to the house and it's a big-time D-1 school.”

“It was a great visit,” Ketchum said. “The food was good. They made you feel good and made me feel at home. It was great.”

“The compare me to the [Vince Young] fit,” Ketchum said. “The offense looked good and I think it'll be a nice fit.”

“I sure could (see myself at Texas),” Ketchum said.

Bobby Burton seems to think Stanford for Beck.

If a prospect doesn't have his commitment timeline set in stone and then decides to shut down his recruitment after an unofficial visit, it's usually a good sign for that school. Beck would be a great fit at Stanford so it's not a surprise if this one goes that way. Of course, Beck called Texas his "dream school" so that usually means we're fu**ed from the get-go.

I think A&M is in a good spot with Garrett. I think he's planning on taking awhile though. I've heard he still wants to visit Bama. I also think A&M sits in a good spot with Whitley as well but he's also planning to drag out the process a little.

If I had to guess the next commit it would probably be Jarrett Johnson, Kevin Shorter or Koda Martin.

Who is the backup plan if Hansen goes to OU?

Kyle Allen from Scottsdale is the only other QB with an offer right now but that is probably unlikely. A&M is already actively recruiting Brandon Harris out of Bossier City, LA and he seems to be the likely option if Hansen chooses OU.

I really like Jerrod Heard and I think he's far and away the best QB in Texas in '14 so that's a shame you guys wrapped him up so quick. A&M should have a good shot at Kyler Murray in '15 if they choose to do so and still have Matt Davis and Kenny Hill in the fold so I'm not too worried about the QB spot. Davis has looked great this Spring. I expect Stewart to go the MLB route but if he doesn't then there's him as well.

"[Friday Night Lights] did kind of did make it tougher, but really, I just knew," Alaka said. "I kind of knew since Sunday. A&M is a really good school as well. I don't think I could've gone wrong with either of them."

"He (Manny Diaz) sounded really excited and he was really happy for me," Alaka said. "It just feels great to be in this class. I've got to keep on working hard and try to do a little recruiting myself now."

Update on LB Andrew Beck from Inside Texas...apparently Beck told the Texas coaches while he was on campus that he was going to make a decision directly after his Stanford trip even though he let the media know he was thinking of committing in July. Bascially, him shutting it down at this point isn't a direct reflection of his unofficial visit to Stanford last weekend as this was part of the plan all along. Any idea what is going on with his recruitment?

The tweets have since been deleted.Derick is a "free spirit". One day he's very happy that he committed to Texas the next he's telling people he's not. He likes to stir up trouble on the regular....hope he grows out of that because we expect him to lead our defense to a hs state title game this fall. Lates with WR KD Cannon (24/7):

“This (Nike Football Training Camp) was the best camp I've been to,” Cannon said. “The competition was great and I think I did real good.”

“I really haven't talked to Texas that much,” Cannon said. “I can't remember the last time I talked to Texas. I know they're running a spread offense now, which I like, and they want me to play outside.”

“I want to see if they're really going to throw the ball,” Cannon said. “I just want to wait and see.”

“I have a great relationship with Coach (Kendal) Briles and I talk to him all the time,” Cannon said. “Their offense is really explosive and they do a great job of getting the ball into the hands of their playmakers. I think I'd be a good fit there.”

“I really like the community and the coaching staff (at Texas Tech),” Cannon said. “I like Coach (Trey) Haverty a lot. I like the playbook because there you can get the ball almost every play.”

“They've (Oklahoma) changed the offense little bit because now they run it more,” Cannon said. “I want to wait and see what they look like this season.”

Update on DE Solomon Thomas of Coppell (24/7):

“I’m hearing from just about everyone you can imagine,” said Thomas. “I’d say that schools like Texas, Baylor, Oklahoma, Alabama, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Texas A&M and Ohio State are recruiting me the hardest right now. It’s crazy to keep up with it all, but it’s an honor at the same time. I’m just grateful I get to experience it.”

“Right now I’m taking it as it comes,” Thomas explained. “I’m just letting it come and go really and am staying open with everything. My plan is to narrow it down to like a top ten or twelve here very soon. My guess is that happens after spring ball."

“I’d like to take some more visits this summer and really see the schools I’m the most interested in after narrowing it down,” he added. “I want to see what each school has to offer, check it out thoroughly, visit with their coaches and see who I click with. Once I’m done doing that, I’d prefer to narrow it down even further. Maybe like a top five when football season begins. Then I’ll take all my officials and commit once that is done.”

“Texas is definitely a school I’m taking a hard look at,” Thomas told Hookem.com. “They’re one I’m very seriously interested in. I have a great relationship with the coaches and talk to them a few times a week over the internet or phone or however I can. I definitely respect what they’re doing down there in Austin.”

“I didn’t make it to Texas’ spring game because I was with my family visiting my sister,” said Thomas. “She goes to Arkansas, so we were going there to see her. But I did recently visit Texas on March 20th, I think and it was a really good one. We had a good time.”

“The main thing I did was see them practice and talk with the coaches some,” Thomas said. “I really enjoyed watching Coach (Oscar) Giles in action and I liked watching how he worked out his players. I was impressed with it. I was impressed with the whole defense, in general, actually."

“I think you can argue the defense has improved a lot. It’s a big turnaround in my opinion. They are a much more physical group than they were last year. The defense was much bigger and seemed faster. You can tell they are coming into their own. They’re not as young now,” he added.

I hope so because I plan on taking the short drive to Austin to watch him play. If UT is smart they'll offer his teammate and heart and soul of our defense Grant Watanabe (SA DPOY, MaxPreps 2012 Junior All American team 1st team) he and Derrick will be tearing it up in the fall. I know Texas has already had him up for a visit just waiting on a offer...he's just a little undersized for his position. His first offer came about a month ago from Colorado. Oh and his cousin in Trey Lealaimatafao.

Haven't seen you in this thread before, so welcome if this is one of your first posts (saw one earlier today). If you are not new, then forget about this and act normal lol.

Just went through some of Watanabes highlights and he looks damn impressive! If Beck goes to Stanford, Whitley to A&M, Freeman to TCU and Bates to SEC I wouldn't mind this kid, even though he's only 5'10. I know that's a lot of 'if's' but his tape is pretty good!

Quotes from LB Andrew Beck after committing to Texas (24/7):

"I was fortunate enough to visit (Texas) two or three weeks ago and it was automatically a great feeling,” Beck said. “You just feel it in your stomach when you're there."

"From the head coach to the janitors, everyone is an incredible person there."

"He (Mack Brown) was really excited,” Beck said. “They don't have any Florida guys coming in and that kinda makes me nervous (laughing). He was excited and happy for me."

"I really felt it when I went to Texas, I went to a couple places after that, but I would weigh everything to Texas and I still felt it was Texas,” Beck said. “I didn't feel a need to prolong the process."

Update on CB Jermaine Roberts of New Orleans, LA...Inside Texas says he will be in Austin this weekend and his top two is currently Ole Miss and Texas. A couple of weeks ago he told certain sites Alabama was his #1, but it seems he's now looking in another direction because he feels he has a better opportunity for playing time elsewhere. He may also be concerned that his Alabama offer isn't as serious as other schools pursuing him. He could be #15 in the coming days.

Worth noting that Courtney Garnett technically isn't committed right now because apparently he has some academic issues. I don't think we have to worry about it though, he should be able to take care of it.

More quotes from LB/S Edwin Freeman on where Texas stands in his recruitment (24/7):

“It’s Texas, Texas A&M and TCU in that order,” Freeman said. “Those are the only three I’m considering and I’ll pick from one of those toward the end of spring. I definitely want to make a decision before summer begins. I want it out of the way.”

“The Texas visit was exciting,” he said. “I had a really good talk with the Texas coaches and some of the Texas players. They made me feel very welcomed and explained a lot of stuff to me. It was a really good visit overall.”

“One thing I liked a lot was visiting with the players,” said Freeman. “I got to ask them some questions and visit with them about everything that was going on. They all had really good things to say about Texas and told me I would really love it there. They said Texas has the best coaching and facilities. I really liked the facilities too. They stood out a lot and were really nice.”

“Texas is still recruiting me as a defensive back,” Freeman told Hookem.com. “Coach (Duane) Akina and Coach (Mack) Brown tell me they want me at safety. They said there’s the chance that I could move to linebacker later, but for right now they want me there playing safety.”

“I’d like to be one of the guys on Coach Akina’s money wall,” said Freeman. “That was nice to see. Real nice actually. Its impressive how many guys he puts in the NFL and how he coaches them up. That’s one big reason I like Texas a lot. He’s one of the best at what he does.”

“I now weigh 212 pounds, so many schools are recruiting me as a linebacker,” Freeman explained. “I’ve been playing linebacker, so I don’t have a problem with it. I like playing safety too. It’s whatever really, I welcome either move. Playing linebacker isn’t bad and I like it, but I also like making plays as a defensive back.”

“The practice went well,” Freeman said. “Those guys looked really good out there. I watched the entire practice, which was cool. They have so much speed, it’s crazy. I liked what I saw from the defense, especially with the linebackers and the defensive backs. I liked what I saw from the coaches and players when I was there. They looked really good. It was intense for sure. I think they’re going to be very good real soon.”

More quotes from LB Andrew Beck (HornsNation):

"Everybody told me, 'When you get to the right place, you just feel it in your stomach,'" Beck said of his visit to Texas. "That's really what I felt at Texas. Not just the players and the coaches, but everybody that is associated with Texas football."

"Everybody at Texas was real with me. They were not going to lie and say that you aren't going to play your freshman year, but they aren't going to say that you are."

"They want me as a middle linebacker," Beck said. "That's what I wanted to play, that was my preference. Playing middle linebacker at Texas is just icing on the cake. They did say that one the goal line, they might use me as an H-Back, but that is nothing different from what they do now there already."

"He (Manny Diaz) is a great guy," said Beck. "That was a big part of my decision. But if he's not there when I get there, or if he is not there the entire time, that's fine. But the energy that he brings to everything is great. When we visited for practice, he ran out there with his cleats on. That was awesome. He is a good guy. I am happy with our relationship and I am ready to make it a little more coaching level. That's something I am looking forward to."

Texas has begun it's search for assistants to Patrick Suddes. The new job is as a "Football analyst" with defense as a priority. Expect another one for the offense at some point. Texas is seeking 15 years of HS football/NCAA and at least 5 years of HS coaching. Will probably be filled by experienced and respected HS coaches to fill those positions.

Latest with DE/LB Sione Teuhema and his brother, 2015 OL Maea Teuhema of Keller (24/7):

“The whole time we were there [Sione] was saying we should go here,” Maea Teuhema said. “He just kept saying that we should go to Texas. He's basically choosing my college for me, and we both really like Texas.”

“Right now my brother and I are seriously considering going to Oklahoma State, TCU or Texas,” Maea Teuhema said. “That's our top-three right now and that's in no order.”

“Coach Giles compared him (Sione) to Brian Orakpo when he came in,” Maea Teuhema said. “He said Orakpo was 215 [pounds] when he got to Texas and they made him bigger in college. Now he's a beast in the NFL. My brother likes that he sees what he can be at Texas.”

“Before I went there I really looked at the football season from last year and they didn't do really good,” Maea said. “I thought that maybe we shouldn't go there. But the coaches were cool I like the way they ran the offense during the scrimmage."

“We thought the facility was pretty cool,” he added. “Everything at Texas was real nice. We got the offer from Mack Brown himself, which was great. He sat us down in his office and said it right there. We weren't expecting that.”

“We were really happy with how everything happened,” Maea Teuhema said. “Texas is a big deal. It's pretty big to get an offer from them. We like that it's close to home.”

They both visited A&M today but Sumlin did not offer a scholarship to Sione and talked about the possibility of a grayshirt. That pretty much eliminates A&M from this recruitment.

I'd probably expect Sione to pick Texas and his brother follow.

The guardian of DE/LB Sione Teuhema and 2015 OL Maea Teuhema speaks on their visit to Texas A&M (HornsNation):

“It was everything we expected and hoped for it to be,” said guardian Robert Taliaferro. “We knew it was probably going to come down to three schools, with A&M being one of them. Their facilities are in the top two that we’ve seen. Liked the coaches, liked everything."

“And then we meet with Coach [Kevin] Sumlin and he lays out a plan. The plan included Sione sitting out a year.”

“No other school has brought up the word 'redshirt,' " Taliaferro said. “Me and Sione had talked about the possibility of him redshirting, but what we don’t like is the grayshirt, which leaves him at home for nine months.”

“It would take an incredible amount of family discussion and praying for that kind of a decision to be made,” Taliaferro said. “I believe there is a different decision that would require a whole lot less discussion to be made. But it’s not my decision, all I can do is educate them.”

OL Jovan Pruitt talks about where things stand with Texas since he's been unable to make it to Austin (24/7):

“I’ve been wanting to make it down to Texas for the past couple of months but it just hasn’t worked out,” Pruitt told Hookem.com. “I’ve wanted to get down there since February, I think, but I just haven’t been able to make it at all. It seems like every time I’m ready or have it planned to go, something always comes up or something doesn’t work out.”

“I’m actually trying to pick out a new date to go to Texas,” he added. “This time I’ll be going down there with my mom, so I think it will all work itself out. I don’t know when exactly it will happen, but I think I’ll be going down there very soon. My guess is before the summer, plus I’ll take another visit there over the summer for one of their camps.”

“Texas is a school I’m definitely still interested in,” Pruitt explained. “They’re one I’m taking a good look at. I like what I’ve seen and heard from them, plus I love the coaches there, especially Coach (Bruce) Chambers. I think they’re going to really turn it around this season, so I’m ready to watch them and see how they do. I think they’re going to surprise a lot of people.”

“The coaches tell me to make it down as soon as I possibly can,” Pruitt said of Texas. “I hear from them all the time actually. Mostly it’s Coach (Bruce) Chambers more than anyone, but he and I talk at least once a week, every week. We’ve built a great relationship and always stay in touch.”

“I have no plans at all to decide right now,” he said. “I’m just letting it all play out and looking at each school I’m the most interested in very closely. I want to take my time and have some fun."

“Everything has been going good for me,” he added. “I’m still hearing from plenty of schools out there. I have built up some pretty good offers so far, which has been great. Besides Texas, Baylor, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Alabama have been recruiting me the hardest. I’ve been hearing from them the most, right now anyway. I also visited Baylor recently and plan to take some more visits to other schools in the near future. I’ll be going to Arkansas this weekend, followed by Alabama on the 20th.”

Vince Young impresses in workout for Oakland Raiders
April 11, 2013 at 09:02 p.m.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported earlier in the offseason that the Oakland Raiders (http://www.nfl.com/teams/oaklandraiders/profile?team=OAK) had "preliminary" conversations about bringing in free-agent quarterback Vince Young for a workout.
On the heels of an impressive showing (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000153988/article/vince-young-dishes-some-details-after-texas-pro-day) at the University Texas Pro Day late last month, the Raiders (http://www.nfl.com/teams/oaklandraiders/profile?team=OAK) followed through on that workout Thursday. Young and former Baltimore Ravens (http://www.nfl.com/teams/baltimoreravens/profile?team=BAL) backup Troy Smith both auditioned for the Raiders (http://www.nfl.com/teams/oaklandraiders/profile?team=OAK), Rapoport reported.

"Heard Vince looked good (https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/322438698341904384)," Rapoport added.

Young will have to prove that he's made strides in accuracy and picking up NFL verbiage, but he does have the rise of the read-option offense in his favor as he attempts his comeback.
The Raiders (http://www.nfl.com/teams/oaklandraiders/profile?team=OAK) opted to take a pass on signing (https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/322439401659580416) Seneca Wallace as a backup quarterback, perhaps due to their interest in Young.

If Oakland does add Young to the quarterback stable, it would seem to confirm a Yahoo! Sports report that there is "much organizational skepticism (http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--sources--carson-palmer-may-prefer-backup-role-on-winning-team-than-taking-pay-cut-with-raiders-063006980.html)" about Terrelle Pryor (http://www.nfl.com/player/terrellepryor/2531332/profile), a draft pick from the Al Davis regime.

So he may get the job after all...taking him a step up from "shameful" to "I suck just a little bit less than Seneca Wallace."

A few quotes from CB Jermaine Roberts before his unofficial visit to Texas this weekend (OrangeBloods):

"I would really have to like it and my family would have to like it too (in order to commit)."

"She (Roberts' mother) doesn't like Ole Miss. She likes Texas and Texas A&M," Roberts said.

"Really (the goal is) to impress my parents. I've already been there. The first impression is the best impression to me. They had the best facilities out of everywhere that I've been," Roberts said. "So just impress my parents, if my mom likes it, I might commit."

More from the guardian of DE Sione Teuhema and 2015 OL Maea Teuhema (OrangeBloods):

"We're going to wrap this thing up with the travelling. Hopefully Alabama offers to jump in the mix. So you never know. But the reality is, we've had our three or four teams in the mix," Taliaferro said. "We'll probably let the head coach of the school know as soon as we can but we're not going to announce anyone else until the spring game."

"A&M is A&M. They're dropping $700 million in facilities and they have great coaches," Taliaferro said. "But if you're throwing out pros and cons, that's a big con (offering Sione a grayshirt)."

"Texas, to be honest, doesn't need a lot of selling points. But at Sione's position, they've got two pro bowlers, one signed a $60 million contract or something," Taliaferro said. "Alex Okafor is about to get drafted, Jackson Jeffcoat is going to get drafted next year."

Update on WR Roderick Bernard (24/7):

“Overall I am working to improve every single thing I need to be successful and stay successful,” said Bernard. “I’ve been working on my footwork, hands, running better routes and improving my speed. I have also been watching more film and learning to read the defense even more than before so I can make smart decisions. I just want to improve my entire game.”

“My goal from here on out is to become the very best at what I do,” he said. “Every time I get the ball, I plan to score. I’m going to catch every ball I touch and score. If I make mistakes along the way, I’ll learn from them. I’m going to carry my team and we’re going to handle business.”

“Life has been great since committing,” Bernard told Hookem.com. “I am very happy about the decision I made. You know, I always hear a lot of great things about Texas. Everywhere I go I see Texas Longhorns stuff and it gets me excited about playing there at the next level. It’s crazy how realistic this is for me now. I’m ready to get out there.”

“There are some schools that continue to try and recruit me since I’ve committed,” explained Bernard. “Mainly it is Oklahoma and Houston. They’re the ones who are recruiting me the hardest.”

“I tell them that I’m not interested and that they know that I am committed to Texas,” said Bernard. “I am 100-percent solid for sure. I love the decision I made."

More quotes from CB Jermaine Roberts on his visit to Texas (HornsNation):

“If it goes well,” he said. “They’re high on my board right now. With my parents, they’re No. 1 on their board and ahead of Texas A&M. If it goes really well, I might commit on Friday or Saturday.”

“My mom, I think she’s ready for me to commit,” Roberts said. “It’ll be about me and how I feel about the situation.”

“We talk about it every day,” Roberts said. “He (Courtney Garnett) actually is trying to get everybody to Texas. He’s trying to get Joseph Paul, even though he’s committed to Florida.”

“It’s in a great city in Austin and it’s a great school for academics,” he said. “And also there’s coach [Duane] Akina and how many guys he coached and put in the league and how he does a great job coaching. I talk to him and coach [Larry] Porter probably once a week.”

“I don’t know where he (Leonard Fournette) stands right now,” Roberts said. “I kind of think he’s going to the SEC. But he did visit Texas. He said he enjoyed the trip. That’s the only school he’s mentioned in his top schools that isn’t an SEC school.”

DE Derick Roberson gives the latest on his recruitment (HornsNation):

“Basically it’s just like, you don’t get a chance to travel much and this is my chance to travel,” he said. “I’m kind of solid with Texas. ... It’s good to keep your options open. But as of right now, I’m sticking with Texas.”

“My dad, he deals with all that stuff. We haven’t talked about it lately,” Roberson said. “There’s schools that have been talking to him, he just hasn’t let me know. He hasn’t given me any information yet. I told him, ‘Not right now.’ ”

“They (Texas) feel pretty good about where I’m at,” Roberson said. “Basically, they want me to start as soon as I get there and play a big role in their defense.”

“That’s pretty nice (that Trey Lealaimatafao committed),” he said. “They’re doing well. They’re trying to get that title next year.”

“Every time a school offers me, everybody starts hitting me up and telling me to stay committed to Texas,” he said. “Some schools are going to put pressure on me. I’ve just got to look past all that."

Quotes from 2015 LB Anthony Wheeler of Dallas Skyline (HornsNation):

“They (the Texas staff) called me in and wanted to meet up,” Wheeler said. “I was nervous. I didn’t think they were going to offer me until they told me I was meeting Mack Brown. Then I figured it out.”

“He (Mack Brown) said I have a good personality and he likes the way I play,” Wheeler said. “He likes that I’ve got a good family that supports me and he’d like to see me commit to them. I feel pretty good that they see the potential in me becoming a good player and see it on film.”

“I was a Texas fan growing up. I like them,” he said. “I like the players and how they play. I like the coaches and the staff. My junior day visit left a good impression. I like the facilities, the school, the atmosphere around here. They treat each other like family. I like that.”

“I really wasn’t thinking about committing yet,” he said. “I want to see what other offers I can get and narrow it down.”

Update on TE Mavin Saunders of the Houston Kinkaid School (HornsNation). He's originally from the Bahamas and has played football for one year:

“I’m just going to do football most likely,” he said. “I saw that injury the other night [Louisville’s Kevin Ware] and I am second-guessing even playing AAU ball now. I know injuries don’t happen a lot. But if I am going to focus on one sport it makes sense taking that risk in something you are trying to accomplish something in instead of something you are doing for fun. I’m really second-guessing AAU now. It’s a big part of my summer but I am thinking a lot about that.”

“Most of the people from my school (Kinkaid) that’s where they go (Texas),” he said. “It’s close to home. I classify Texas as home now. It’s really A&M and UT that I’ve always wanted to go to because I am used to Texas. It’s pretty much my home.”

“I know Austin, I know people that go there and know it’s a good school,” he said. “All the sports are big-time. It’s always been my top school when they would ask where I would want to go. I’d never tell anyone that until now.”

“I watch football and know Vince Young and Ricky Williams,” he said. “I know the history. I want to go and be a part of it. It’s really big time. I’ve never been to a game or anything but I understand how passionate people are up there just like it is in College Station. I know it’s big time up there.”

Some updates from 24/7...

1.) Like others have alluded to, CB Jermaine Roberts is expected to make a final decision either today or at some point this weekend.

2.) His teammate, DT Courtney Garnett, will be taking his ACT this weekend. If he gets a certain score, that should remedy any qualification concerns that the Texas staff has even though they will continue to monitor his grades throughout the year. With that said, he is expected to be a Longhorn and the staff has no plans of filling his spot at this time.

3.) Texas has apparently identified a big, in-state athlete that no major programs are currently pursuing. The spring evaluation period starts Monday so we should hear more about him soon.

4.) Texas has no plans of giving up on ATH Nick Harvey. Since the spring game, they've continued to talk to him about playing both WR and DB. Larry Porter is the lead on his recruitment.

A few weeks ago Texas posted a job opening for a "Creative Director" job, where you made films and stuff like that. Derek Ochoa is the new Director of Creative Services for Texas. Quotes from LB Dillon Bates on his recruitment (24/7):

“My top five is Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, Texas and South Carolina,” said Bates.

“It will either be late spring or early summer I’m thinking (for a trip to Austin),” Bates said of his future visit. “At this point I still haven’t planned anything yet, but I definitely want to get down there soon though. I’m still planning on it.”

“I’ll be looking forward to that trip,” said Bates. “I’ve only heard great things and seen great things about the Longhorns, so I’m ready to find out for myself how everything is. Everyone I talk to says that it’s great there. Texas is a great school with a great program and I want to see if I think I would fit in there or not. I’m ready to check it all out as soon as I can.”

“It (a commitment) is not going to happen any time soon,” he said. “I want to be completely sure. I want to be 100-percent certain of where I’m going, so it will take a while.”

Lates with 2015 OL Zach Rogers of Carrollton Hebron (24/7):

“I grew up a Sooner fan so I've been following Texas my while life,” Rogers said. “I know Texas has a lot of tradition and a big following, and they're getting things turned in the right direction.”

“That's definitely something I've thought about,” Rogers said. “It's not going to give [Oklahoma] some kind of advantage though. I'm not going to choose a school because I grew up rooting for them. Texas is a great school and the offer meant a lot.”

“I've talked to him (Stacy Searels) a few times since my visit,” Rogers said. “I like the way he coaches. I got to sit in a meeting and he quizzes his guys on what they're supposed to know. I like a coach who is that involved with his guys.”

“I'm definitely going to go back (to Austin) this fall,” Rogers said. “I'll be back for the summer camp also."

Update on 2015 LB Malik Jefferson of Mesquite Poteet (24/7):

“Texas has always been one of favorites,” Jefferson said. “I always knew they'd be high up. I wanted them to recruit me just as seriously as others, and now it's not like I'm chasing them anymore.”

“It was nice. I can see myself being there,” Jefferson said. “I like the extra stuff like how now nice the dorms are and the facilities. I see myself being effective with the rush and pass coverage in their defense.”

“I want to go to a few schools I really like and just pop in and see how they treat me when it's not expected,” Jefferson said. “I want to find out how things really are behind closed doors. That's how I'm going to evaluate and pick my school.”

“He's (Manny Diaz) nice, he's energetic and he's a believer in God,” Jefferson said. “He's more about life than football. Football is great but life is important. Some coaches preach the same thing but I really see it in him.”

Quotes from 2015 S Justin Dunning of Whitehouse who's waiting on that Texas offer (24/7):

“They (Texas) just said there were glad that I got to come for the game and said that I really need to come back for their summer camp,” said Dunning. “They really emphasized on me coming back. To me, it seems like they want to see me in a camp setting where I work out, before offering.”

“It sounds like they’ll be stopping by this spring to see me in action first,” Dunning explained. “Then I’ll go to that summer camp. When they stop by in the spring though, they want to see me at receiver too.”

“They told me that I’m good at safety if I don’t grow anymore,” Dunning said. “There’s also a chance that I might develop into more of a nickel back type player like Kenny Vaccaro. They want to see me run and stuff first though.”

“It doesn’t really matter to me,” he said. “If it happens, it happens. I think I’ll probably stay at safety or play receiver though once they see me. I like receiver better, but we’ll have to wait and see what colleges think of me there since they haven’t seen me play that position.”

Quotes from CB Jermaine Roberts after committing to Texas (HornsNation):

“Oh, that was cool. Real cool,” Roberts said of the tweet. “We talk every day. He’s (Tyrann Mathieu) like another brother to me. He calls me and I call him anytime I want to talk.”

“I consider myself like Tyrann Mathieu," Roberts said. "I watched him and wanted to play like him. I came up wanting to be like him. I want to bring to the Texas defense what Tyrann Mathieu brought to LSU, and we’re going to be on the rise.”

“My mom loved it and my grandma loved it,” he said. “For us, it was more than football. It was also academics. It was coach [Mack] Brown, because he’s a great guy. Coach [Duane] Akina and coach [Larry] Porter, I have a great relationship with them.”

“I do feel some pressure being the first DB, because I know there are a couple guys they’re going after,” Roberts said. “We’ll try to get them on board and do something special.”

“I’m not going to pressure them (Joseph Paul and Leonard Fournette),” Roberts said. “We’ll talk about it and see how they feel about Texas.”

A few things to remember about the spring evaluation period...

-runs from April 15th to May 31st.

-schools are allowed TWO visits for each prospect; one for academic purposes and another for athletic evaluation. Sometimes both are addressed on a single visit. The more sought-after prospects will receive a second visit so the coaches can let their presence be known on campus.

-prospects and coaches are not allowed to speak during this time unless they randomly bump into each other on campus. As you can imagine, a lot of coaches use this rule to their advantage.

-no travel is allowed on Sundays or Memorial Day.

With the hire of Patrick Suddes, Texas should be much more efficient than they've ever been. Last year the staff traveled from California to Georgia, so we'll see where they go this time and what new names pop up.

More quotes from CB Jermaine Roberts (OrangeBloods):

"It feels really good. I'm really relieved," Roberts said. "Now that I know where I'm going, I can focus on school. That's the main thing. I can focus on our team, try to win a championship."

"It was just where I wanted to be at. I couldn't pass up this opportunity because everyone knows Texas. Texas started the DBU thing," Roberts said. "They have the best DBs come out of there. Right now, they're number one in putting DBs in the league."

"And it's a great school academically. All their majors are ranked in the top 10 in the country. For business and marketing, they're like number four in the nation. They have a heavy alumni base, so you know you'll have a lot of job opportunities when you graduate."

"The moment I walked into coach Brown's office, it hit me then," Roberts said of the decision to commit. "I told him because I've been to a lot of places, sat in a lot coaches' offices, a lot of coaches tell me the same thing, how they can help me win championships. But none of the head coaches asked me what I want to do after football."

"(Brown) promised me something no other coach had. If I ever got hurt and can never play football again, I still have a scholarship to go there for four years. It's the same scholarship everybody else has. He was asking me what I wanted to do after football and no other head coach really had asked me that. The other ones just tell me how well I fit in their defense. So that was big too."

"What I love about it there is the football staff at Texas, plus the fans and the alumni. And the DBs, they stick together like a brotherhood," Roberts said. "It's not just one, you're not by yourself. Everybody looks out for you."

"I'm going to try to work on a lot of guys, DB wise. I know we need four or five DBs this class," Roberts said. "It's cool to be the first one. I feel like I started something with the DBs in the 2014 class. I think in the next three or four years, it'll be special in this class."

"A lot of people say I'm undersized, so I was trying to come in and catch interceptions. I used to play wide receiver, so when the receiver comes off the line, I can read his route and tell where he's going. So that time I wanted to do something different and be physical."

"That stuff (criticism) doesn't bother me. I know what I can do. I just let it go in one ear and come out the other. Some of best players in NFL are small."

"Depending on when we go over [everything], it could happen by the end of this week," Johnson said. "If it doesn't, the process is probably going to drag out."

Latest with CB Nick Watkins of Dallas Bishop Dunne (24/7). He visited Notre Dame recently:

“Everything is going well for me,” said Watkins. “I’m just being very thorough with this all. I’m taking my recruitment very slow. Right now I don’t even have a favorites list. I’m basically interested in all of the schools that are interested in me.”

“I’m still very interested in the Longhorns,” Watkins told Hookem.com. “Texas is a great program and I have a lot of respect for the tradition they have there. When I went to their junior day in February I had a great time and enjoyed getting to see them practice. I walked away impressed with my entire experience there.”

“I really like the coaches down there,” Watkins explained. “They make you feel right at home and always make sure you enjoy your visit. Coach Akina is one of the best at what he does and is a good coach. I could see myself playing for him. I haven’t talked to them lately, but we still talk often.”

“I’m probably not going to visit anywhere else this spring and maybe not this summer,” Watkins said. “I’m just focusing on finishing the school year strong with track and spring football. I want to make more interceptions, tackle better and improve my man coverage, along with being an explosive and exciting player on offense. That’s what I’m worried about for right now.”

"(Searels) was saying he wants to get me out there ready to play, learn the system. He's just ready to get me out there and work out with the guys."

"They want me out there late May, early June, just depending on when I finish school," Harrison said. "I've got a nice load of classes on me, so I just have to finish strong."

"It's been going good. I've been getting stronger, looking over my things and working on fundamentals. I do ladders, position drills, things like that," Harrison said.

"It was tough all the way down to the end. I pretty much decided almost the day of (the announcement)," Harrison said. "Oklahoma, that would have been a nice spot for me. They have a winning tradition. But it came down to the opportunity to play back in my state, just going out there and competing every day with some of best guys in the country, just playing for UT and that tradition, playing with coach Mack Brown."

"I'm really excited about getting there. They were looking good. I'm just ready to add what I have to the puzzle, then go from there," Harrison said. "I play fast and physical. I'm going to bring that fire to the O-line. I know I'm going to have to come in and learn but I'm going to to play fast and physical."

2015 DT Daylon Mack leaves College Station with a clear #1 (24/7):

“I went there over (College Station) the weekend to check out their spring game,” Mack said. “The visit went great. I really enjoyed going down to visit them.”

“I came very close to committing right then,” he explained. “The only reason I didn’t do it was because my parents felt it was going to be too soon. But now there’s no doubt that Texas A&M is my clear cut leader. They’re my true number one.”

“Texas is my number two school now,” Mack told Hookem.com. “They’re my second choice. I couldn’t really tell you what they would have to do to get back ahead of Texas A&M at this point. It would take a lot and I’m not sure what they could even do.”

“Don’t get me wrong, Texas is a great school. I feel that if Texas A&M wouldn’t have been in the SEC, then Texas would have been my top choice. Playing in the SEC is a really big deal for me and Texas can’t beat that. I also liked the fact that Texas A&M was the first school to offer me and they showed me they truly wanted me from early on. Not that Texas didn’t, but Texas A&M was the very first, so that’s special to me,” said Mack.

“I don’t know when exactly a decision will be made, but I feel like it will be pretty soon,” he said.

“I’ll still be paying attention to the Longhorns,” admitted Mack. “You never know what will happen, but my main focus will be on Texas A&M.”

This is officially the first time I have felt that the SEC thing has given A&M an advantage. Even with guys like Scott, I didn't see it as an advantage since they were aggsy leans even before their first season in the SEC.

Still it comes down to one thing. Who will win championships and play in big games. Aggsy will play in two big games this year, but that is one more than Texas plays in.

Texas needs real change, and I don't know when it is coming.

Texas has not been relevant on a national scale for 3 years now. Yes the SEC helps A&M but ultimately if Texas was a top 10 team with shot at national title that factor would be severely negated. The reality is recruits want exposure and they aren't getting it on national stage at Texas.

To back up that point, if A&M was in SEC but lost all their conf games would people care what conference they were in? The reality is they are recruiting well b/c they won games, not simply being in SEC.

"They (Texas) came and I was like that was a surprise," Mixon said. "They said I'm one of their top guys."

"They said they are very interested in me," Mixon said. "They just wanted to know if I was interested in them and they said they'll be back next week or in May."

His brother referenced a "baby" yesterday, but I won't speculate further on that subject. Sounds like a lot is going on and several reports alluded to it being difficult for any college to get him through admissions. That makes a lot of sense if you consider how talented he is and notice that he's not getting a ton of attention. Hope he can get things worked out but it doesn't look like Texas will be involved going forward.

"His brother went on OB talking about how Darrion missed a bunch of classes because he has a newborn child. They felt like he would be excused for a lot of absences because they would "go easy on him" since he has a child, but that wasn't the case. Apparently they hit his mom with a whole bunch of fines that they wouldn't be able to pay, so he withdrew from the school to avoid paying. "

They felt like he would be excused for a lot of absences because they would "go easy on him" since he has a child, but that wasn't the case. Apparently they hit his mom with a whole bunch of fines that they wouldn't be able to pay, so he withdrew from the school to avoid paying. "

Straight from his brother:

"Here's the deal. He wasnt kicked out of school or athletics. Darrion has been living with his mom and has had something big happen in his life this past month. Due to that he missed a few days. He has a truancy meeting coming up that he has been doing since last year. Attendance was his problem last year. During the summer he moved back with me because his mom wasnt getting it done. He had truancy meetings and grade checks. He was doing fine, great actually. He was in an online college class, and needed to finish 1 more then he's be good. Mid Fevruary he moves back with mom since it seemed she was doing ok. Now this meeting is coming up and he felt he had a legit reason to miss a few days. He and his mom found that wouldn't be the case. Fines and more were in order. He and his mom opted to sign him into homeschool today. I had no consent in that, or wasnt aware of that till a site called me on my break at like 4. I originally answered hell no. Smh... Do I agree with this decision?? Hell no, but legally my consent isn't needed for anything with Darrion. I'm just the big bro Darrion would come to live with when he started to act teenagerish. Do I want to break my foot in his butt?? You bet I do, but I feel the best lesson I can teach him right now is to let him find out that it can fall apart. Ill be there to pick up the pieces if it goes that far. I sent him a text that said, "It's Time to man TF up." He called and texted after, but I don't want to talk. I'm hurt right now because Darrion was always my boy. I love him like a son, but he needs my mental tough love now. Physical can only go so far. I'm hurting right now, but I have to teach him a lesson. I have to let him find out.. This all happened yesterday. Just fell apart in a 2 hour time frame. I didnt know until a site called me on my break."

Update on S Mattrell McGraw (24/7):

“I’m definitely still planning to visit Texas,” said McGraw. “I’m not sure when exactly it will be, but I know it will be sometime in May or June.”

“I’ll be paying attention to the campus, the coaches and the environment,” McGraw said. “That’s what’s most important to me. I want coaches that are loyal and honest. I also want a place I’ll like to live when it comes to being outside of football. I haven’t visited yet, but I get the vibe that Texas will be able to offer all that.”

“I’m really open to everyone,” McGraw explained. “I will say that Texas is a school I’m definitely interested in. They’re one I’m taking a hard look at and a school that has begun to separate itself from some of the others. There is a lot to like about Texas and I’m ready to see it when I take my visit.”

“Jermaine (Roberts) and I are real cool and we talk a lot,” McGraw told Hookem.com. “There’s no doubt he is a solid commit to Texas, so he really wants me to join him at Texas and be a Horn. He’s already giving me the recruiting pitch about it, saying that Texas is the real Defensive Back University and that the best go there. He also tells me that there’s a good chance for early playing time with the way the depth chart is currently set up, so yeah, I’d say he’s doing his part in recruiting me.”

“Coach Akina is a real cool coach that is a lot of fun to talk to,” he said. “What he’s done with his players stands out to me. His track record of putting his defensive backs in the NFL is really great, because that’s exactly where I am trying to end up.”

this is where i have a problem with mack's new lack of tolerance policy when it comes to pledges still visiting other schools. he has to know other schools will continue to recruit his currently committed players because he will do the same. it's part of the process. bottom line is this: if your pitch is good enough you should have nothing to fret over. if washington decommits and goes to texas then what a&m had to offer in the end was not on par with texas. to go apeshit over your recruits who still entertain their options while currently committed, but then seek out other schools currently commited players seems hypocritical to me.

the recruits hold all the cards and everybody knows it regardless of what coach says. it just makes mack look insecure to act otherwise.

the only part of it i agree with is mack telling players if they are looking elsewhere that the school will be recruiting said player's position harder. but that is all the leverage you really got.

I've seen Washington in person and actually talked to a bunch of other players about him and frankly I'm really surprised he is being recruited by both schools so hard. A solid prospect but I didn't really view him as a no-brainer offer. Two things I didn't like 1) he didn't dominate against camp competition and 2) he seems to be letting recruiting process get to his head.

Personally, I wouldn't offer the guy based on what I saw. But either the staff saw something I didn't, or it just speaks to our desperation at the position after last year's class and weak DT class this year.

I tend to agree with all the recent posts regarding Mack's visit policy, except for two things. 1) Don't commit if you're not ready. 2) Mack is one of the only coaches that I know that "guarantees" your schollie if you are commited. He has honored offers everytime that a recruit has gotten hurt or even had to quit football due to injury or the threat of hurting your future quality of life. If you are getting this guarantee, I am ok with the policy and the return guarantee that you will honor your commitment. We've all seen numerous times when a top prospect gets hurt and loses all interest from everybody. When Mack offers and you accept, you are still guaranteed the offer will stick, regardless of injury. You can't say the same for most coaches and that changes the game in my opinion in regards to his visit policy.

+1. I'm not a fan of Mack's policy but it's hard to argue with that. He's proven a handful of times he'll follow through on that promise. In fact, CB Jermaine Roberts mentioned after he committed that was a big reason why his family was so comfortable with UT.

Great point on Jermaine Roberts. While I'm still not a fan of this policy, I do think that it will play great dividends with the families if they look at the guarantee that comes with the restrictions. Specially since they are now offering Sophomores. It is a great insurance policy for the families that truly value their education.

Also, there was a lot of interest from Nathan Starks early on, any word on why Texas isn't pursuing him more considering all these new RB offers?

Quick quote from the head coach of 2015 WR DaMarkus Lodge (OrangeBloods):

"There's no doubt that he's excited. We talked last night. Texas is one of those places. When you get offered by Texas. who else is going to offer you that is going to awe you more," McGuire said. "They're at a different level. I know he's excited. It would not surprise me if he committed right away but I could also see him coming out of spring and saying he'll go visit them, go to camp."

With all these offers to RB's, do Texas believe that both Bergeron and Brown will leave early?

I think it's just Texas putting out a lot of lines and hoping for some positive news. Plus, I'm pretty sure they want TWO backs in this class to prepare for the possible early departure of Gray. After the 2014 season, you could lose all of Bergeron, Brown and Gray. That would leave you with Daje (who is a wildcard with attitude issues), Catalon and potentially Anderson of Plano West. Losing Hicks to TCU and going without a back in the 2013 class doesn't help.

Also, there was a lot of interest from Nathan Starks early on, any word on why Texas isn't pursuing him more considering all these new RB offers?

My guess is there isn't enough mutual interest. We'll see if anyone goes by Bishop Gorman this spring.

I believe his biggest shot has to be as a grayshirt. With Texas still being in the mix for Bates, Whitley and Freeman I doubt he will get an offer anytime soon. Would love to see him as a grayshirt, though!

Some recruiting updates from 24/7...

-the UT coaches have used the first week of the spring evaluation period to focus on in-state prospects mainly because next week students across Texas will have their standardized testing. Next week, the staff will turn their attention towards California, Louisiana, St. Louis, Memphis, Oklahoma and junior colleges (mostly Mississippi).

-Akina also saw DE Derick Roberson during his rounds in San Antonio yesterday.

-Searels is supposed to make his way through East Texas today. He'll check on 2015 DT Daylon Mack of Gladewater, 2015 S Larry Pryor of Sulphur Springs and WR Dorian Leonard of Longview. Mack is supposedy very close to committing to A&M.

-Davis is scheduled to be in West Texas today to see WR Lorenzo Joe and DT/DE Jake McMillon.

-Texas offering RB Auston Anderson of Plano West is a "game changer" in his recruitment.

I wonder who they are going to visit in those two states. Are those just "random" states that 24/7 mentioned or was it those in particular? I guess it's Porters connections?

All of those places were mentioned for a reason. I'm sure Porter has several connections in the cities you highlighted. We'll probably hear a lot of new names next week and that includes junior college prospects. It was this time last year that we learned about guys like Fournette, Starks, Noil, Willis III, etc.

Quotes from RB Auston Anderson on his UT offer (OrangeBloods):

"It happened today. Coach (Darrell) Wyatt came down to (Plano) West and we had a quick little conversation. It was nothing much. Then when I came back to practice, my head coach came in and tells me, 'Oh by the way, you have an offer from the University of Texas,'" said Plano West's Auston Anderson. "I was like, 'Wow, that doesn't happen every day.'"

"I didn't expect that one. My teammates were there too and everybody was freaking out," Anderson said.

"Texas is definitely a school I'd like to consider. I'm definitely looking forward to taking a look at them," Anderson said. "As far as Texas goes, I can't really at this stage of the game make a top five since I haven't visited down there. But this definitely piques my interest."

"I'd have to say the academic portion is invaluable," Anderson said. "I have to sit down, see what they have going on at Texas. I'm sure they're a great academic school but don't know much about it at this stage."

My sources say he is a Texas lean in the c/o 2025...he is quite the fielder and has been known to run over teammates to get the ball, and consistently works deep into the count at the plate.

KSU has been kicking our butt with a talent level of primarly a bunch of 2 and 3 star players. What needs to change is management then we can really worry about 4 and 5 star kids.

I personally like getting a bunch of kids that are lower ranked but willing to work hard.

More quotes from 2015 WR DaMarkus Lodge and his head coach on his Texas offer (24/7):

“I was very surprised they offered this early,” said Lodge. “It means a lot to me. The fact that they offered this early is a great feeling.”

“I like Texas a lot,” he said. “They’re a great school and they always have a lot of success on the field. I could see myself playing there for sure.”

“Texas is Texas,” said McGuire. “That’s a huge offer for him, especially with it being so early in his recruitment. I know he thinks a lot of the Longhorns and he had a great time when he was down there for their spring game. Honestly, I could see him committing and ending his recruitment tomorrow if he felt like Texas was the place for him. I’m not saying it will happen then, but there’s a chance it will happen in the near future if he really likes Texas, which he does. I would be surprised if a decision wasn’t made before summer began.”

“I think he has a chance to be the greatest receiver we’ve had here at Cedar Hill,” said McGuire. “He’s that good. The problem last year was that he was sitting behind four different division one receivers, so he didn’t get as much playing time as he would have elsewhere. But he still saw the field a lot and made the best of it. Damarkus is a very special player and whoever gets him will be very happy, I can promise that. He’s just a great athlete with excellent wide receiver skills. He’s going to be good, very good.”
