Update on S Chance Waz of Pflugerville Hendrickson after he visited Texas yesterday (OrangeBloods):

"When we got there, they showed us around the complex. Vince Young was there, Aaron Ross was there, Cedric Griffin was there," Waz said. "Then we got to go into the defensive meeting room, where they talk before practice."

"We went to practice, watched them do warm ups, followed the defense, watched coach Akina, how he'll have his guys do mental reps, teach them how to tackle in space."

"He was teaching us their coverages, their man on man stuff. They play a lot of man, but it's a match man. So it's man and zone that turns into full man."

"He said he really liked my film, but he takes his time with the process of recruiting. He said to not get worried," Waz said. "He said he really liked my film, gave me his cell phone number. Him and coach Applewhite are going to make it down here in the spring to watch me some more."

"I felt that I did really well (at the Rivals camp). Jalen Campbell got MVP, but I felt like I did overall better than him. That's just how I feel," Waz said. "I only got three balls caught on me in 13 passes, I had one INT. I'll continue to work on the off coverage stuff but the DB coach said he liked me a lot."

Inside Texas reporting LB Andrew Beck of Tampa, FL has been offered by UT. He's possibly being looked at TE instead of a LB, so it's still uncertain what position the offer is for.

WR Jaxon Shipley reportedly suffered a hamstring injury today. No details yet.

Update from UT:

"Junior wide receiver Jaxon Shipley sustained a strained hamstring in Thursday's practice, Texas Head Athletic Trainer for Football Kenny Boyd said. Though the injury is minor, Boyd said they will proceed cautiously with Shipley and his availability will be determined on a day-to-day basis."

Below is a tentative roster for Texas' first Sophomore Day that starts tomorrow morning. Some of these guys may attend the spring game next weekend or choose to visit for both events. While a handful of offers may go out, keep in mind that this event is essentially a cattle call for 2015 prospects. There are some no-brainer offer types that will be in attendance (i.e. 2015 LB Malik Jefferson), but for the most part it will be made up of guys that UT could potentially pursue. This is mainly about Texas establishing relationships early and creating brand awareness because recruiting continues to speed up and the process starts earlier and earlier. The second "secret" visitor to Texas this weekend is S Arrion Springs of San Antonio Roosevelt, per 24/7. This one is a little odd considering Springs has said mutiple times in the past he wants to go out-of-state for school and has no interest in UT. He was the one who reached out to Duane Akina recently, so hopefully we'll find out what (if anything) has changed. He's a possible offer.

I've been hoping they'll both de-commit before summer or Texas will just end it and make an example of them. If you want to take visits and be low-key about it, that's your business. Just don't be obnoxious on Twitter. Mack can't expect to be taken seriously if he lets behavior like that continue to go on.

I think the motivation behind the contact was Springs' respect for Akina's track record with DBs (even though Akina may be retired by the time he hits college). He seemed to be pretty pumped after receiving the offer. Bloeddyr is right that he hasn't received a ton of attention from non-Texas schools. OU would be his best offer.

This whole Knox/Gresham deal doesn't even bother me anymore. I don't care where they end up.

Gresham was tweeting earlier about how "this was not supposed to happen" and how sorry he is, followed by sad faces and crying. Idk if offers were pulled or he was just sad that the news "leaked".

Exactly TFloss. Many of us are tired of the back and forth with these commits. Time to lay down the law. A commitment is a commitment. If you want to visit other schools, do it beforehand. They are all told that. Yank the scholly and tell them, Don't call us, and we won't be calling you. Until that happens, why would any high schooler take the commit seriously? They'll just think Texas is the backup plan. BS!

We're not just recruiting bodies, they need at least an ounce of intelligence to not tweet the fact that they are breaking an agreement. You don't get engaged and then tweet pics of your hot date. Idiots. Let them be the example that puts pause to other commits doing the same. As much as it pains me to say it, they should be nailed to the tree of woe as an example to all that you don't cheat on UT.

Update on 2015 S Justin Dunning who was in Austin for Texas' Sophomore Day. He may return to campus this weekend for the spring game (24/7):

“Overall the visit was great,” he said. “All the good players were there, so it was really good. I didn’t receive an offer, but Coach (Mack) Brown said he hasn’t watched my highlights yet. He is going to watch them this week and then we will go from there. He told me that he has to watch a player’s highlights as well, not just the position coach, before someone officially gets offered.”

“I was very impressed with it all,” Dunning said. “I’m still wide open, but Texas is definitely up there. They were before, but especially now after the visit. It made me like them a lot more.”

“I loved the way that Coach Akina coaches the DBs at practice. He was so involved with everything,” he said. “During the practice, the defensive backs were going as hard as possible. To me, that’s a reflection of his coaching abilities because he was so into the practice. He’s just a great coach on the field. Off the field, he’s a real cool guy. I like him a lot.”

2015 LB Malik Jefferson give his reviews of Sophomore Day (24/7):

“It was definitely a good thing to go to,” Jefferson said. “I'm definitely happy I got to go. Texas was really nice.”

“It's a beautiful campus,” Jefferson said. “They have a great coaching staff and the players are nice.”

“I was honored,” Jefferson said. “I've never been offered by a head coach when I was in his presence. Getting to sit with Coach Brown and get offered, there's no other way to say it than it's an honor.”

“It was very entertaining,” Jefferson said. “There weren't any boring parts. The whole thing was really enjoyable.”

“I don't have a list anymore,” Jefferson said. “All I know is Texas is up there pretty high.”

“I love Coach Diaz's energy,” Jefferson said. “I like to talk to him. He's fun to talk to. I plan on giving him a shout as often as I can.”

“It's helped them so much,” Jefferson said. “They were barely on the map before all of this because I didn't know how they felt. Now I know they feel like I'm a great player. They told me I have room to grow as a player and I'm not done growing, but they can help me get there. That means a lot.”

Quotes from 2015 CB Jalen Campbell of Corpus Christi Flour Bluff (24/7):

“My whole family has been pressing me about Texas because I grew up liking them,” explained Campbell. “So now after realizing from the visit all the benefits of going there, I would have to put them on top. They are my favorite school, my number one. LSU, Baylor and then Oregon are after them. Texas has a big lead over the other schools though. Seeing the campus and going through it all made Texas my number one.”

“It was overwhelming,” Campbell exclaimed. “But I just had a good feeling about it all the entire time. It was a good ‘home’ feeling and everyone there was very involved. We did a lot of stuff on Saturday, but everything we did was with our parents and the coaching staff. I really liked that. Everything was very family oriented and had a home feel to it. It felt like I might as well have been in my backyard. I was very comfortable the entire time.”

“At the beginning of the day, if they would have offered me, I would have been very surprised,” said Campbell. “But as the day wore on, I had a feeling it would happen. I was kind of expecting and hoping that it would."

“It seemed like at the beginning of the day most of the coaches already knew my name. Then, throughout the day, Coach Brown was telling me he wanted to talk to me once everything ended. So when I talked to him, he told me they looked over my film and liked it. He said I was a playmaker and they wanted to offer me, so they did.”

“I’m not really sure to be honest,” he said. “Right now it is way too early. I want to look at my other favorite schools. I want to check out the coaching, academics and depth charts at all of them. I’d like to get a feel for who I would be playing with and for, plus see the campuses.”

“I got to go inside and look at what Coach Akina has built there,” Springs said. “He's built an NFL atmosphere. He's close with his DBs and those guys come back. He's really good at helping guys to the next level. That's a goal of mine, and he's done it so much that I know he can help me do that.”

2015 ATH Chris Warren recaps Texas' Sophomore Day (24/7):

“I've liked Texas ever since I was little,” Warren said. “It's always been Texas football for me. Texas has always been that school that's stuck out.”

“It feels almost like a childhood dream come true,” Warren said of the Texas offer. “I tried to be as humble as possible. I was really surprised and excited.”

“They told I've been looking really good out there,” Warren said. “They told me that I could pretty much play any position.”

“It was big,” Warren said. “It makes me feel like I can still be a running back being as big as I am.”

“Watching them be hyped up and motivated made me super excited for the season,” Warren said. “Everything was good, but the practice was great.”

Quotes from 2015 OL Aaron Garza after his commitment to Texas this weekend (24/7):

“I’ve committed to Texas,” said Garza. “I’m definitely pumped up about it. I’m thrilled to be a Longhorn. I’m very excited.”

“I knew that Texas was the place for me as soon as I stepped on campus, so it was an easy decision,” he explained. “I’ve always been a big Longhorn fan, so this is like a dream come true for me.”

“I think it’s a very prestigious school,” Garza told Hookem.com. “They have a very opportunistic football program that draws a lot of attention to themselves by recruiting some of the top players in the country."

“They’re also a very outstanding school academically. It would be a great school to attend due to its’ relative location to Sherman and that would make it convenient for my family to attend as many of my games as possible," he added. I can really see myself building a future there, both career and football wise."

“My interest in other schools is done,” Garza told Hookem.com. “I am where I want to be. I don’t want to go anywhere else. I’m 100-percent committed to the University of Texas.”

Update on LB Andrew Beck from Tampa, FL after his unofficial visit to Texas (24/7):

“They were my favorite school growing up,” Beck said. “Mack Brown is a legendary coach. He's one of the coaches you put on a pedestal.”

“I always hoped and prayed I'd have the chance to go to Texas,” Beck said. “That's one of the things you think about when you're outside doing footwork drills and it's 80,000 degrees. I was just hoping to have a chance.”

“They almost get whoever they want,” Beck said. “Kids will always want to go there. They'll always end up with the best coaches. Coach Brown might not be there by the time I'm done, but you know the guy they hire replace him will be just as good because of the tradition Texas has.”

“I'm just going through the basics right now,” Beck said. “I want to get to know the people. The people at the school I pick is big for me. This is an important to visit base my decision off of, but it terms of making the decision I'm not there yet.”

“At Plant when we have guys commit we'll all do it at a ceremony and at the same time,” Beck said. “My dad has to be in Alabama on the 15th (of July) so I'm going to commit on the 14th.”

The latest with 2015 TE Jordan Davis of Houston Clear Lake who's committed to Florida State (OrangeBloods):

"Me and another player got called into Mack Brown's office. He toured us around his office, showed us everything. Then my teammate had left, and he brought me back into his office since (Saturday was) my birthday," Davis said. "He said he forgot to tell me happy birthday, and he told me he wanted to offer me a scholarship. He said he knew about the whole FSU deal, but he said he's not going to let me get out of the state of Texas."

"It kind of opened my eyes a little more to other colleges," Davis said of the UT offer. "Florida State, they are my number one school, but Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma - they are also good schools. They're schools that I could see myself at, but I'm still young and have a few more years of high school to think about things."

"Florida State has always been a school I liked. The coaching staff has shown me a lot of love from day one, made me feel like home, like family," Davis said. "Their coaches aren't just worried about athletics, they're also worried about academics. That's the main reason I'm going to college - for academics."

"Coach Brown is really big on academics too. That was his main thing for being there. Also, I liked just how their whole offense looked pretty good, and how the offense would have a spot for me my freshman year," Davis said. "Coach Brown said he believes in playing young guys and I could come in and play right away."

"The biggest thing I want to improve on is my burst off the ball," Davis said. "For colleges that haven't seen me, if you want a tight end who is versatile, who can spread out as a wide receiver, go up and get the ball, have speed, good ball skills, that's what I can do."

"They (Texas) did impress me, but I'm pretty committed," Davis said.

According to 24/7, both RB/FB Daniel Gresham and OL Demetrius Knox have been informed by the UT coaches that as long as they continue to take visits, other prospects will be recruited as their replacements and their scholarship offers will be in jeopardy.

Quotes from 2015 LB Cameron Townsend after receiving his Texas offer (24/7):

“The visit went really well,” Townsend said. “I had a good time watching the team scrimmage, meeting some of the other prospects and learning more about Coach (Manny) Diaz. Overall it was a very beneficial trip. I’m definitely glad I was able to go.”

“When they offered me I was shocked,” said Townsend. “I was shocked and flattered at the same time. I feel like it was a huge accomplishment and it just acknowledged all my hard work I’ve put in up to now. Getting that first offer just makes me want to work even harder as a player.”

“It’s so easy to fall in love with your first offer,” he explained. “That’s especially true when you have been eagerly waiting on it. But as for right now I am just trying to enjoy the ride. I still have two seasons to play, so I’m just trying to make sure I pick the perfect university for me.”

“The one that that impressed me with the most were the academics,” Townsend told Hookem.com. “Academically, I liked the fact that they allow their athletes to come back and finish their degree, even after they have finished playing football for them. I liked that a lot actually."

“Athletically, what impressed me the most was how intense their practices were. The linebackers were great and I thought their ability to fill the holes fast was impressive. There were very few long runs up the middle, which is what I like to see. But the speed and intensity of the practice stood out the most. Everyone was getting excited when someone makes a big play. I feel like that leads to good swagger during games. I’d say they have swagger. That’s what impressed me the most,” he added.

“I thought his intensity was awesome,” said Townsend. “Seeing him wear cleats out there on the practice field makes it feel like he really loves being out there. I think that kind of positive energy rubs off on the players.”

“It’s very possible I will be back in Austin this weekend,” explained Townsend. “I’ll most likely be going down there for the Texas Relays, so if I do, I’ll most definitely be going for the spring game.”

More quotes from S Arrion Springs of San Antonio Roosevelt (OrangeBloods):

"I liked talking to coach (Duane) Akina. It was a really good experience. The facilities are awesome," Springs said. "I talked to Akina most of the time, then we went and talked to Mack Brown. We were mainly jut talking football in their meeting room."

"It's a big honor. They only offer prestigious DBs," Springs said. "Only the cream of the crop get that offer. I feel honored to be in that group."

"I probably won't narrow it down until after I come back from visiting Oregon this summer. I want to see all the schools I'm considering before making a decision," he said.

"Texas is on the radar now. At first I didn't really consider them. I kind of didn't like them growing up," Springs said. "I'm definitely considering them now. They're a really good school and they produce a lot of DBs."

A new name to file away is DT DJ Williams of Lufkin. Per 24/7, he may be the next offer at DT but I assume the staff waits to watch him during the spring evaluation period. He was on campus this past weekend after being unable to attend the second Junior Day.

“Coach Davis really liked me,” Williams said. “He said my film is good and if my grades stay up I can probably have an offer.”

“I really like the school and the program,” Williams said. “My leader is most likely Texas.”

“If they offered I'd probably take them up on that pretty quick,” Williams said.

Great news, by all accounts Garrett has blown off Texas completely so far to date. Hopefully he makes it as he should be one of the top targets for Texas, period.

The other legit contender for Garrett is LSU in addition to Ags and TCU.

Update on OL Connor Lanfear of Buda Hays. He's a guy 24/7 expects to be offered down the line. Both his mother and sister attended UT:

“It was great,” Lanfear said Sunday night. “It was just top of the line in everything. The coaches were great and very nice. The weight room, the whole athletic department, the dorms; everything was top notch.”

“There were a lot of guys there, so there wasn’t a lot of one-on-one time. I did talk to Coach (Stacy) Searels. I shook hands with a lot of the coaches, including Coach Mack Brown,” he said. “Coach Searels said they will come watch me in the spring, they like me and want to watch more film.”

“Coach Searels stood eye to eye with me and told me I was taller than he was. That I was 6-foot-6.”

“I’m definitely going to the Texas mini-camp this summer as UT is a program that has my highest interest. I’m also going back for the spring game.”

"I will go to Texas A&M, too. I really want to get to as many as I can to start to attract interest,” he said.

“My family has been locked into a dispute between the Longhorns and Aggies for a while. I have people in my family that are Texas fans and A&M fans,” he said.

"Coach (Manny) Diaz … he said I'm a special athlete and a playmaker," Dunning said about his conversation with the Texas coaches. "Coach (Duane) Akina said the same thing and coach (Mack) Brown said he likes my size and everything about me. They said I might turn into a linebacker."

"It was awesome," said Dunning about the practice and the other parts of the day. "We got to pretend like we were players going to position meetings and everything."

“I can’t wait for the visit,” said Mack. “I’m really excited to be visiting my childhood favorite. They (Texas) were my team growing up. I’ll be coming in on Friday before the game to look around with my mom, dad and brother. We’ll spend the whole weekend in Austin before heading back on Sunday.”

“I am going to be looking for a place that I can really envision myself at,” explained Mack. “I want to meet the entire coaching staff and get to know them better. I’m really looking forward to hanging out with Coach (Bo) Davis and just talk about the defensive line with him. I’m pretty excited to get to know all the coaches and find out more about them. I’m also ready to check out Texas’ top notch facilities, because I know they have some of the best around."

“I also want to see how the team gets along,” Mack added. “I want to see how they act and see what type of family they are together. Of course I want to see them wrecking it on defense as well.”

I wouldn’t commit this early,” Mack said. “I feel like I’ll probably make a commitment sometime after my junior season.”

“It’s definitely Texas A&M and Texas. Texas A&M is leading right now, but I am real excited to get to visit another top tier school to compare them to,” he said. “I really am ready to get up to Texas and check it out. I haven’t been to any other colleges yet, so everything could change.”

“I grew up a Longhorn fan so I feel like that could definitely be an advantage for them,” he told Hookem.com. “That’s the team I have always loved. I’ve always been a big fan. A&M has great competition with them playing in the best conference, and I want to be challenged when I get to college, but Texas has always been special to me.”

WR Amanti Foreman of Texas City will make his third visit to Austin this weekend for the spring game. He recaps his unofficial to UT last Saturday (OrangeBloods):

"We have a sophomore, D'Vonta Hinton, on my team that is just getting his name out there, and Texas heard about him and wanted him to come," Foreman said. "So since we went to the same school, they wanted us to come with him to see them again and see the school again."

"Basically, we did everything we did for the Junior Day," Foreman said. "So I got to talk to coach Darrell Wyatt a lot. I talked to Mack Brown when he found out I was there and his wife. I talked to Major Applewhite after the day was ending. I talked to him a while. I talked to everyone … they knew who I was. They remembered me from last visit."

"They were good conversations," stated the Oklahoma commitment. "Just talking about how I fit in and that they really want me and not to count them out. They know it's hard for me because my brother doesn't have the same offer but they were going to try to find a way. Telling me about the receiver spot and that they only have so many and they're going to need a whole lot more in the new offense. And that some of those receivers are leaving and they needed me to come in and hop in there and play. They were telling me about all the commitments and they still want me and that I have a good chance at playing early. I was really considering that. I'm still committed to OU but I'm still looking."

"Basically, they just told me they knew I wanted to play with him," said Foreman about the Texas coaches and his brother. "They were telling me they were trying to figure something out. They know he's a great athlete. The two positions he does play - running back and linebacker - they're stacked at. I don't know if they're going to look at him at another position. That's what we're waiting to see. I'm basically more interested in what's going on with my brother than me to be honest. I really want to play with my brother. OU has been telling me since day one they've been looking at my brother. It depends on what school comes with the first offer. If it was a lower school, I wouldn't consider it. But if it was another school I could go to or felt comfortable at, I'd definitely consider it."

"Honestly, I didn't know that they (Texas) were that low at receiver the first time I went," the Houston-area prospect said. "While we were eating, coach Wyatt came to talk to me and was just telling me. Now, I understand. He was talking to me about offense and how I would fit in it. That's what really stood out to me the most. They told me the last time I went there for junior day that they don't have that many receivers. I think they only had five scholarship guys that were practicing on Saturday. Mike Davis will be graduated by the time I get there and Jaxon (Shipley) will be a senior. They're really not that deep at receiver. They had always told me that I would play early in the spread offense and I'd be surrounded by a lot of talent there. I liked watching coach Wyatt … how he coaches and interacts with the players at practice. He's like the same person every time, never too high or too low. He's the same every time and that's what I like about him. Whatever is going on in a game or in practice I feel like he's going to be the same."

"Yes," responded Foreman when asked if the addition visit to Texas improved its status in his eyes. "Every time I [go] up there it catches my eye. I really like the campus and how the players interact. Basically, I'm just waiting to see what happens with my brother. If they (Texas) offered my brother, it would be looking real great for them. I don't know what they're going to do. OU is still my number one school and I'm committed to OU but I am looking around."

RB Donald Catalon will be in Austin this weekend for Texas' spring game (24/7):

“I’m actually going to be going with a few of my teammates,” Catalon explained. “They will be running in the Texas Relays, so they’re going to go with me. They should already be in town, but I think I will come up to Austin on Saturday morning and may stay until Sunday. I don’t really know my exact plans yet, just that I will be there with them.”

“Coach Applewhite has talked to me about the offense and it sounds really good to me,” said Catalon. “I know they are trying to have a more fast-paced offense, sort of like Oregon’s or someone like that. I think I’m really going to like it. Scoring faster is always a good thing and that’s what he plans to do. It sounds perfect for me.”

“I don’t plan on visiting other schools at all,” he told Hookem.com. “I don’t want to anymore. I’ve spoken with the coaches and am very happy with my decision. I have received a lot of hand written letters from schools like USC and TCU trying to recruit me, but I don’t even pay attention to them. I am 100-percent committed to Texas and I don’t plan to change that.”

“I feel better but there’s still a little pain in it (foot),” Catalon said. “I’m not sure how much longer until I’m released, but they said when there’s no soreness after therapy, they will release me. 2015 DE James Lockhart of Ennis talks about his Texas offer (OrangeBloods):

"They (Texas) got in contact with my grandfather. They can't actually call me, but they said they're going to go ahead an offer me a scholarship and they want me to attend the spring game this Saturday," Lockhart said.

"I thought it was crazy finding out this weekend that Texas offered," Lockhart said. "Baylor is a good school and I like it, but if I had to choose a school right now I would choose Texas. It's a bigger school, and I've been a Longhorn fans since fifth or sixth grade."

"Just growing up watching Vince Young play, that kind of set it off," Lockhart said. "Plus my family is big into sports and my dad really likes the Longhorns. And Mack Brown is really good coach too. It's just a great program."

"I'm taking things slow right now. I don't plan on committing to anybody to until my senior year. I just want to soak it up, see what my options are. I don't want to commit to anyone right now, be stuck with one school," Lockhart said. "Don't get me wrong, Texas is probably one of best schools in the nation, but I just want to take it slowly and soak it up."

"I just want to see the facilities, walk through the facilities. meet the coaches and players, watch their drills, see what they bring to the table," Lockhart said. "I want to see how seriously they take it, if they practice like a game, just learn, take mental reps."

"From what my coaches told me, they said I'm a big kid with good size. I think what some coaches, if they haven't seen me before the camp, I thought I brought good quickness, I get off the ball fast, get off the line fast. I've got decent speed for my size and my age."

Quotes from TE/OL Koda Martin of Manvel after his unofficial visit to UT (24/7). He plans on making a decision in the spring:

“Texas is a great school,” said Martin. “It was a good trip overall. [Texas and Texas A&M] are both different so it’s hard to compare them. A&M was nuts and getting to see Texas was good, too. Mack Brown is a really genuine person. I enjoyed being around him and his coaching staff also. Texas has some guys on their team that have strong faith. David Ash, Jaxon Shipley, and Josh Cochran are strong Christians.”

“I do feel a little more comfortable about Texas now that I took this trip,” he said. “They’re definitely a school that I would add to my top two schools.”

“It was awesome,” Martin said. “A&M really did a great job showing me what their program is like and what it would be like to hang out with their guys. I got to hang out with the Matthews boys and Cedric Ogbuehi. I ate with them and talked with them about Coach Anderson and his coaching style. They love going to school there and they’re looking forward to next year. Those guys are really good guys, who I like to be around, and the Matthews boys are involved with FCA. That’s important to me.”

“They’re (A&M) definitely one of my top options for me right now. This trip was eye-opening for me,” he explained.

“I have a lot of great options on the table so wherever I go is going to be a great place,” said Martin. “I can’t really go to a bad program.”

Update on S Steven Parker of Jenks, OK after his unofficial visit to UT on Saturday (OrangeBloods):

"I got to talk to Mack Brown about that. It was definitely an offer. I talked to coach (Duane) Akina and Mack Brown about it, they told me what they liked about me," Parker said. "They liked how tall I was, that I can kind of play corner and safety. They said they really want me there."

"One of the highlights was ... seeing how they go. They ran an up-tempo practice and they're an up-tempo team," Parker said. "It was also kind of cool to see coach Akina interact. That was the highlight, talking to coach Akina, talking to Mack Brown one-on-one. They told me they're DBu because they produce a lot of NFL talent. They showed me the money wall, kind of showed me the highlights about it. It was pretty cool."

"They were both great visits. I got to meet both head coaches and DB coaches," Parker said. "The difference was, I got to stay and watch Texas practice. I didn't get to see A&M practice because they were off that day."

"I know I'm going to try to visit some places this summer. Probably after my summer visits, that's when I'll start narrowing it down, probably make a top five," Parker said. "I'm looking forward to committing probably before the season just so I can take most of the stress off my senior year. We'll see how it plays out."

"They said they'd really like me to come to their football camp, have coach Akina work with me, get a better evaluation as a person," Parker said. "They also wanted me to try to make a football game. I'll just have to see how that goes and how much time I have."

"I would probably say they're up there, just because they produce a lot of talent that goes to the NFL," Parker said. "But it's not even just about the NFL. They have great academics, they have a great academic center to get my studies in, find a tutor. I think they're up there."

“Today when I was in school, my head coach pulled me to the side and told me that Texas had called him and wanted me to get in touch with them,” he explained. “So I called them just now and talked to Coach (Darrell) Wyatt. He said that they have watched my tape a few times since last Saturday and they were really impressed and liked what they saw. That’s when he told me that they have offered me a scholarship.”

“After I talked to Coach Wyatt, I then spoke with Coach (Stacey) Searels. He basically said what Coach Wyatt said and he told me he really liked me. He said he loves my film,” Rogers added.

“Growing up in Texas you have to pay attention to the Longhorns,” Rogers told Hookem.com. “I’ve obviously heard a lot about Texas. They have great tradition and a great program. Everything there is top notch and I enjoyed myself on my visit last weekend. I think they are headed in the right direction with their football program.”

“Now that they have offered me I plan on making it back down,” said Rogers. “I’m going to talk to my parents and see when we can get down there. I know I’ll definitely be back, I just don’t know when yet.”

“I don’t have any favorites,” Rogers explained. “Every school that I’m in contact with is even. I’m just taking everything in and looking at every opportunity. I want to give everyone a chance. I don’t know who I like the most right now, but Texas is up there with everyone else.”

“I’m in no rush to make a decision,” he said. “I think, ideally, I would like to make one before my senior season. That way I could have it over with and enjoy my last year of football in high school. So it will come then or before then for sure.”

Update on LB Reggie Long of Whitehouse who was invited the spring game recently (24/7). I hear this guy has all the intangibles (hard worker, great personality, good grades, etc.) but I just don't think he's an offer type. We'll see how Texas handles this one since it's evident he'd commit right away.

“It was kind of a shock when they invited me down for the game,” said Long. “I've talked to Coach (Manny) Diaz and he said they like my film. To hear Coach Mack Brown say he likes your film is big, so I'm very anxious and excited about going on the Texas visit.”

“I was shocked because, up to that point, I hadn’t heard from them,” said Long. “So I reached out to Coach Diaz on Twitter and it was indeed an invite and they were excited to have me down. I’m just very excited to start hearing from them!”

“The leadership there stands out to me the most,” Long explained. “You get to learn from some of the best football coaches around. I also like that Texas gets a lot of football players in the NFL. They have a ton of success with that at every position. But most importantly the education is also a big deal. Texas is one of the best schools on the world when it comes to getting an education. If I attended Texas, I know I would have a job after my college career was over if I wasn’t able to go pro.”

“Right now I have a top three,” he told Hookem.com. “It is Texas, then Texas Tech, and then Mississippi State. It’s in that order.”

“Man if Texas Longhorns offered me I wouldn’t be able to sleep for weeks. I would be so excited and it would be a dream come true,” he added.

“Some people think I’m 5-foot-11 or small,” Long said. “Regardless I feel like I am the best linebacker in Texas. I am a player with an eye for the ball. I hit tenaciously. I'm relentless and would do anything for my team. To me, size doesn't matter. Its football and when I step on the field I am there to win. I’m relentless.”

Quotes from 2015 DT Devonte Lampkin of Cypress Falls after attending Texas' Sophomore Day (HornsNation):

“That would be pretty amazing,” he said. “My mind is set on Texas. If they offer, I would probably wait until the middle of my junior year, but I would commit.”

“I kind of got used to it after the first two or three games (playing behind a senior), but yeah, it kind of hurt a little bit,” he said. “I was anxious to get on the field. It was pretty nice to win, and at least I can say I helped out the team a little bit.”

“He (Bo Davis) told me that he’s going to come to my spring practice, and he should be able to offer me then,” Lampkin said. “He told me he liked my film, but he wants to wait until the first time he sees me in spring.”

“It (Texas' practice) was kind of intense. But at the same time they made it look easy, which I know it’s not because they’re a lot stronger and more powerful,” he said. “It seemed like they were quicker on their feet than we are in high school.”

DE Jake McMillon of Abilene will be in Austin this weekend for Texas' spring game. His mother was unable to attend the Junior Day in February because she was recovering from surgery, but she'll be in town this time. Sounds like he's ready to commit. Quotes from HornsNation:

“This has been little stressful at times, but it’s been fun and I’m just trying to enjoy it and take it all in,” he said.

“I don’t have anything planned after Texas,” he said. “I’m looking to make a pretty decision pretty quick. I’ve just got to be 100-percent sure I’m doing what’s the best fit for me.”

“It’s very important. It’s a real big decision for me, so I want to see what mom has to say about it,” McMillon said. “It’s going to help me out with the decision to see what she thinks about it.”

“We’ve been in touch a little before, but getting that offer from the University of Texas is pretty crazy,” he said. “When a school like that offers you, of course other opportunities will come up. But I want to decide pretty soon what I’m going to do.”

“I see him (Lorenzo Joe) around sometimes,” McMillon said. “Lorenzo is a great guy and I like hanging around him.”

“I got offered by them a couple weeks back,” McMillon said. “It’s nice that I’ve had a few family members play there. TCU is a great school. TCU and Texas are both great places to be.”

“I’m just trying to feel things out and make sure I’m going to the place that’s the best fit for me,” he said.

“I’m not really leaning one way," he said. "I’m just going to go check out Texas again and then make my decision afterwards. I’m just going to see how it goes, but that’s what I’m hoping for.”

HornsNation reporting that OL Joseph Paul of New Orleans, LA will be in Austin this weekend for Texas' spring game even though he committed to Florida last week. Some quotes from him:

“I just felt like it was the right time (to commit),” said Paul, who checks in at 6-foot-4 and 340 pounds. “I knew that’s what I wanted to do because I prayed on it. It just felt like the right thing to do that day.”

“I really just want to make sure,” he said. “When I get older Texas is where I want to stay so I just want to make sure I am giving them a fair chance.”

“I’m excited to come down there again,” Paul said. “Texas is like a second home to me.”

“It was great. It felt like home,” Paul said of his Florida visit. “I really connected with the players. They treated me like I was one of their own.”

Update on LB Otaro Alaka from HornsNation. He's scheduled to see UT this weekend, A&M on April 5th and LSU on April 12th:

“Initially, you know, the decision I was looking at making was in the end of March, but that’s when it was just Texas and Texas A&M,” Alaka said. “But then LSU offered and now Florida State has offered.”

“He’s (Les Miles) the one who wanted me to get up there (LSU) for the 12th,” Alaka said. “They wanted me to come last weekend, but I couldn’t do that. Everybody says that LSU’s campus is beautiful and pretty cool, so I’m looking forward to it.”

“It’s pretty big, since he (Alaka's father) hasn’t seen either Texas or Texas A&M,” Alaka said. “I just want my dad to see the place and meet the coaches and see what he thinks about it.”

“I really just want to narrow it down,” he said. “Texas and Texas A&M are pretty much still my top two. They’re pretty much equal. I’m not looking for anybody else.”

Update on DT Courtney Garnett of New Orleans, LA who will also be in town this weekend (HornsNation):

“Texas is my No. 1 school,” he said. “Then it’s Ole Miss and Oklahoma.”

“I’ll be looking to see how the guys are competing and how the coaches get after the guys,” Garnett said.

“Bo Davis did tell me that there weren’t many defensive tackles coming out of Texas this year and that they didn’t sign one DT in 2013,” he said. “They are looking for a lot of D-tackles.”

“I mean having two big rival schools offer me is great,” he said. “My recruiting process is going well. I plan on getting to Norman actually during my spring break. My spring break starts after this week.”

“They (Ole Miss) are coming after me hard,” he said. “We actually talked two days ago. The recruiting process is going great. I’m enjoying all the love that they are showing me. My decision is going to be very tough.”

Why do you want his visit to be a secret?

Because LSU will just turn up their efforts whether legally or illegally. You know they hate that Larry Porter is the lead on his recruitment for Texas. It also bothers them that DeCarlos Holmes, the defensive coordinator for St. Augustine and DE Torshiro Davis' old coach, isn't an LSU fan.

Quotes from DT OJ Smith of Bossier City, LA who unofficially visited Texas last weekend (HornsNation):

“I liked it a lot,” he said. “I liked the atmosphere, the family atmosphere, and I like coach Mack Brown and Bo Davis.”

“Texas is my No. 1 school right now,” he said. “I like everything about Texas. My dad just wants me to wait it out. He doesn’t want me to commit too early. But I like everything about Texas.”

“It was great. I liked the tempo they played with, they played hard and I liked everything about it,” Smith said. “He’s a good coach. I like the way he runs his defensive line. He likes to work. Everybody thinks he’s cool, and I like the way he coaches.”

“I’m not ready to make a decision right now,” he said. “It’s too early. It’s not my senior year yet. My dad just wants me to wait it out.”

I hope they're not trying too hard to find playmakers on that side of the ball now that WR Cayleb Jones is done for a while. If you're going to move a former offensive stud over from defense, why not S Mykkele Thompson? The guy either has no desire to tackle, or doesn't know how to tackle. One thing I've noticed: The kids from Louisiana (especially the guys from St. Augustine) doesn't smile a whole lot. They're looking "tough" and "thuggish" on most pictures. I like that and the mentality. I think I've only seen Fournette smile once, and that was in Tuscaloosa with '15 WR Stanley Morgan, CB Jermaine Roberts and I believe the last was OL Joseph Paul. I think he need to be, in lack of better words, fired up before he smiles.

Interesting to see who drove him to Austin. My guess it's the DC from Augustine.

More quotes from DT Courtney Garnett who will be in Austin tomorrow through Sunday (24/7). Watch for him to shut it down this weekend:

“I'm leaving home at around 3 a.m. Friday and I'll get to the Texas Relays around 11,” Garnett said. “I'll go to the Relays for a little bit then I'll go over and talk to the coaches. I'm going to the spring game Saturday night, too.”

“I just really want to meet the coaches,” Garnett said. “I know all coaches try sell you on the campus, and every college campus is nice. I'm not really into that. I just want to know if I'll be comfortable if I go to Texas. I want to be able to picture myself there.”

“Texas is No. 1 right now,” Garnett said. “Every school recruiting me, I'm comparing them to Texas. If they're not like Texas, then that's what it is. I honestly think that's where I want to be in the near future, but I'm not 100 percent sure yet. I want to take a look at a few other places.”

“He's (Bo Davis) been showing me a lot of love. That's basically why Texas is No. 1,” Garnett said. “They're more interested in me than any other school.”

“They didn't sign one in this last class and some of their tackles are on their way out,” Garnett said. “That depth chart is looking nice for me to come in and start within the next two years.”

“They (Texas) haven't told me a specific day they want me to come down,” President said. “I'm going to call one of coaches pretty soon and see if I can set something up.”

“I've always liked Texas,” President said. “I rooted for them growing up. Everybody who is good should at least think about going to Texas.”

“They had a good recruiting class in 2013 with a lot good athletes and they're off to a good start for 2014,” President said. “I'm looking forward this upcoming season to see how they do.”

“It'll be good because I've always liked playing quarterback,” President said. “I know the routes and the timing and I can be more vocal on the field. I can be a leader at the position.”

Latest with DE/LB Sione Teuhema and his brother, 2015 OL Maea Teuhema of Keller (24/7):

“The whole time we were there [Sione] was saying we should go here,” Maea Teuhema said. “He just kept saying that we should go to Texas. He's basically choosing my college for me, and we both really like Texas.”

“Right now my brother and I are seriously considering going to Oklahoma State, TCU or Texas,” Maea Teuhema said. “That's our top-three right now and that's in no order.”

“Coach Giles compared him (Sione) to Brian Orakpo when he came in,” Maea Teuhema said. “He said Orakpo was 215 [pounds] when he got to Texas and they made him bigger in college. Now he's a beast in the NFL. My brother likes that he sees what he can be at Texas.”

“Before I went there I really looked at the football season from last year and they didn't do really good,” Maea said. “I thought that maybe we shouldn't go there. But the coaches were cool I like the way they ran the offense during the scrimmage."

“We thought the facility was pretty cool,” he added. “Everything at Texas was real nice. We got the offer from Mack Brown himself, which was great. He sat us down in his office and said it right there. We weren't expecting that.”

“We were really happy with how everything happened,” Maea Teuhema said. “Texas is a big deal. It's pretty big to get an offer from them. We like that it's close to home.”

Two notes from Inside Texas on what else went down today other than the commitment of 2015 DT Bryce English...

-WR Armanti Foreman, 2015 S Justin Dunning and 2015 S Deionte Thompson all sat down with Mack and certain staff members today. Those three and more recruits are expected to have meetings again tomorrow.

-And that leads us to 2015 ATH Blake Lynch. It's been reported that he'd commit on the spot if offered and he spoke with Applewhite over the phone this morning. He was also asked to come in about four hours before the spring game started. That might be what they're telling a lot of recruits to do, but it's worth keeping an eye on. His future college position may not be QB, but he's definitely a great athlete.

2015 ATH JW Ketchum of Fort Bend Marshall is another guy who is expected to receive an offer today. However, the surprising news is 24/7 expects the offer to be for QB when a lot of scouts see his ideal position as slot WR. It will be interesting to see what his reaction is since he hasn't shown much interest in Texas to this point.

Good recap of the entire weekend courtesy of OrangeBloods:

-2015 DT Bryce English of DeSoto committed to Texas on Friday afternoon. He was #2 for that recruiting class. His godfather is Bruce Chambers.

-OL Terrell Cuney of Jasper committed to UT on Saturday before the spring game. He's #9 for 2014.

-2015 CB Jalen Campbell of Corpus Christi Flour Bluff pulled the trigger before the spring game as well. He's #3 for 2015.

-DT Trey Lealaimatafao of San Antonio Warren is #10 for 2014. He committed after the spring game.

-CB Darrion Johnson of Brenham was very close to committing last night but ultimately decided to speak with his high school coach before making a decision. He could be #11 on Monday.

-The newest 2014 offer went out to WR Dorian Leonard of Longview.

-DE Jake McMillon of Abilene is another that could commit very soon. He was in attendance last night and doesn't have any additional visits planned. TCU and Texas are still his top two.

-DE Jarrett Johnson of Katy Seven Lakes says his decision will come after he attends Texas A&M's "Friday Night Lights" event next weekend. No word if he's still leaning towards A&M or if things have changed.

-LB Otaro Alaka held off on making a decision yesterday. He's still scheduled to see A&M and LSU before making a decision.

-OL Jovan Pruitt of Dallas Bishop Dunne was one of few prospects that failed to make it to Austin this weekend.

-2015 WR Kemah Siverand of Cypress Ridge met with the UT coaches after the spring game but was not offered at that time. He said he'll know by Monday or Tuesday if he'll receive an offer. Siverand says he'll consider committing on the spot.

-Both DE Sione Teuhema and 2015 OL Maea Teuhema made a return visit to Austin.

-LB Zach Whitley of Galena Park North Shore watched practice on Friday and met with the UT coaches on more than one occasion. It is thought that Texas still trails in his recruitment but Whitley himself maintains he has no leaders.

-WR Trey Quinn of Lake Charles, LA did make it to Austin yesterday.

-2015 ATH JW Ketchum of Fort Bend Marshall was offered as a QB and says he's currently considering committing to UT despite not having much interest in the program before this weekend.

-The new 2015 offers are below:

RB, Soso Jamabo, Plano West
DE/LB, Anthony Wheeler, Dallas Skyline
S, Larry Pryor, Sulphur Springs
S, Deionte Thompson, West Orange-Stark
ATH, JW Ketchum, Fort Bend Marshall

-And the biggest news of all...Texas A&M commitment, ATH Nick Harvey, attended the spring game and sat with all of the recruits.

Quotes from OL Terrell Cuney after committing to Texas (24/7):

“I thought about it earlier this week and I decided that if it felt right I'd commit,” Cuney said. “I've been waiting for when it felt right and today it felt right."

“It feels good to have it over with,” Cuney said. “It's a relief.”

“I've liked Texas ever since I can remember,” Cuney said. “They've always been a dominant team and done well in their conference. Now I can go help Texas get another national championship.”

“He (Stacy Searels) wants a physical group that plays nasty,” Cuney said. “After talking with him as much as I have, and now that I'm committed and seeing what's here, we should have the kind of offensive line that can take us to a championship.”

“I'm going to do as much as I need to do to get them (other prospects) to join us,” Cuney said. “I want as many good players on my team as possible.”

“Growing up here you love the game, and if you play at Jasper you have a real passion for the game,” Cuney said. “I think I can help Texas because I've learned that when I'm on the field I've got to give it everything I've got.”

More from 2015 DT Bryce English and his coach, Claude Mathis of DeSoto (24/7):

“I talked it over with my dad,” English said. “He told me my word is my bond, so I decided to go ahead and commit.”

“He (Bruce Chambers) looks out for me, he's got my back and I know the right place for me is Texas,” English said. “I'll stay out of trouble, and I know if I need someone to go to I can go to him.”

“I think he can be the best defensive lineman I've ever had,” Mathis said. “He's got the size, quickness and strength. He can be dominant as anyone I've been around. He's that good.”

“Right now what we've got him on is a strict diet plan and he's trimming more and more weight,” Mathis said. “We're seeing him shed it, and he's worked his butt off so far. He's so dang strong and he really knows his way around the weight room, so he's willing to work hard. I think when he's done growing his body will be more of a Warren Sapp type, if you look at it that way.”

“He (Cortez Kennedy) gives me a lot of pointers,” English said. “What to do, what not to do, where I can improve. It's great to have him in my life.”

“He's (Bo Davis) a good coach,” English said. “He's coached first-round picks and some great defensive tackles. I know he can get me to where I want to be.”

“Texas is my No. 1,” English said. “Like I said, my word is my bond and I'm staying with Texas.”

Update on 2015 RB Soso Jamabo of Plano West after receiving his UT offer (24/7):

“Coach Brown got right to the bottom of things,” Jamabo said. “He didn't mess around. He told me they were going to offer me and then we just talked about Texas and how I'd fit in the program.”

“I like Texas a lot,” Jamabo said. “It's a program with a lot of prestige. I liked them a lot growing up when they had Vince Young and I remember watching them all the time.”

“[Young] was a role model for me and I looked up to the guys on those teams and had fun watching them,” Jamabo said. “Now that I have a chance to go to Texas like they did it's an amazing thing. I'm very blessed.”

“The coaches were really nice,” Jamabo said. “I know Texas is the kind of place where you can be around good people and compete for a national championship.”

“The coaches are going to be a big part of my decision,” Jamabo said. “I want to know that I'm in a good situation with good people who can help me achieve my dream of being a pro athlete.”

“I didn't think things would happen this fast for me,” Jamabo said. “I'm blessed to have the opportunities I've been given. It feels good to know that all of the hard work you've put into it is paying off.”

2015 TE Jordan Davis of Houston Clear Lake talks more about his Sophomore Day visit to Austin (24/7):

“My visit to Texas went great,” said Davis. “It was a good time. I enjoyed getting to see everything, learning about the school, meeting all the coaches and spend time with them, talking to the other recruits and just getting a firsthand look at Texas. I really did have a good time and enjoyed the visit.”

“I was impressed with the academic side of things,” explained Davis. “I couldn’t believe the support that their student athletes receive from the school. I’m not sure if all schools give that support, but if they do, they don’t show it like Texas does. It’s amazing the support system they have in place for the football players and any students involved in the program. I couldn’t believe it really. They truly want to help you earn a great education there.”

“I think I was the first one to actually be called in to Coach Brown’s office when I got there. It was like as soon as I arrived, I was pulled back into his office and we talked for a little bit,” he said. “He told me what their about at Texas, showed me some of the stuff they achieved since he’s been there and said they would really like to have me on campus and playing for the Longhorns.”

“After we talked for a while about me and Texas, he told me they wanted to offer me. He said I have a scholarship to Texas if I want it and they hope that I do want it,” he said. “The day I was there was actually my birthday, so getting the offer on that day was very cool. It was definitely my best present I received that day. I thought that was awesome that it worked out like that.”

“Getting that Texas offer was big, there’s no doubt about it. Right now though, Florida State is my number one school,” he said. “That’s why I committed there. With Texas offering me, that helped them out a lot and opened my eyes about some things. But right now, I’m happy with my decision. I’m going to continue to be interested in Texas and continue keeping a close eye on them, though. I won’t lie, they are right there in the mix. I’m definitely interested in them.”

“Ohio State itself was beautiful,” Gresham said. “The only place it really compares to is here, but the coaches here are nicer. It made my commitment that much stronger, actually."

“They were disappointed because they thought I was one of their lead recruiters,” Gresham said. “I let my immaturity and my curiosity get the best of me. We're great, and I'm done with everything now.”

“We're good now,” Gresham said. “I told the coaches I'm done taking visits. I''m not going to put myself in that position or do that to the coaches.”

“Just (want to see) how the team has progressing,” Gresham said. “And hopefully it'll be another chance where I can talk to the coaches and let them know how sorry I am.”

“I thought it was going to be a long process,” Wheeler said. “He was pretty straight forward. It was a quick and easy process."

“They like my personality and my family background,” Wheeler said. “They said they want to see me in the future.”

“I've always liked how they play,” Wheeler said. “I like the coaches and I always like the players they have and I like how hard they compete.”

“That's the first school they try to push us to is Texas,” Wheeler said. “Texas is always down there watching us practice and they're always around.”

“He (Manny Diaz) likes me at outside linebacker,” Wheeler said. “He said he likes my speed to get to the ball.”

“It feels great to have the offer because I'm really interested in Texas,” Wheeler said. “But I've got to look at my options and make sure I pick the best school for me.”

Another positive development from the weekend is the surprise visit of LB/S Edwin Freeman of Arlington Bowie and he met with the staff while in Austin (24/7). He has no additional visits planned:

“I was in Austin but left before the spring game,” explained Freeman. “I did still go over to Texas and visit with the coaches though. It went great, I loved it. It was a good visit.”

Update on the St. Augustine recruits from 24/7...while RB Leonard Fournette is still considered a longshot for Texas, the good news is there is a legitimate interest after this weekend's visit even though Bama and LSU are the clear leaders. Texas is back in the lead for DE Jarrett Johnson, per 24/7. He'll be at A&M on Friday and wants to make a decision shortly after that. We'll see how that goes as rumors have suggested the Ags are putting more of their focus on DE Myles Garrett and DE Qualen Cunningham of Chandler, AZ. They lead for both of those prospects.

“The visit was exactly what I had hoped for and then some,” said Johnson. “It was a great game to watch. There were a lot of people there who came out for it. It was just a really good spring game. I’ve never attended a big college football game, so I can’t even imagine how the atmosphere would be there if it was that good for just a spring game. It seems they have a lot of loyal fans.”

“I really wanted to watch Alex Okafor play,” Johnson said. “I know he couldn’t be out there though. But I thought it was great seeing the defense enjoy themselves and trying to put the biggest hits they possibly could on the offense. They did really good.”

“They are definitely my number one now,” he said. “For me, the trip to Austin only solidified that. Texas is number one, followed by Texas A&M. They are number two. Those are really the only two schools I’m considering now.”

“I do plan on making a commitment soon,” Johnson told Hookem.com. “My guess is that I probably make it after visiting Texas A&M. I should do that on Friday, then I’ll go from there. A commitment by the end of this week or the first of next is my plan, hopefully anyway, if my parents let me.”

WR Lorenzo Joe reviews his weekend in Austin (24/7):

“I loved it,” said Joe. “I just like that it is fast paced. They threw a lot more than what they used to. For me being a wide receiver, that’s big. I like that a lot because it spreads the ball out and gives you more opportunities out there. I really think a lot of what Coach Applewhite has done and I know it will only get better.”

“The whole spring game experience was a good one,” Joe said. “But I’m really looking forward to seeing them play in the regular season. That’s what I’m pumped about. I know I’ll be down here a lot watching them play and doing my part on recruiting the kids that they are bringing in.”

Quotes from LB Zach Whitley after spending the weekend in Austin (OrangeBloods):

"The highlights of the practice were that it was very intense, the whole practice," Whitley said. "It was an intense, fast practice, and I like the way they play."

"They're (Texas) basically telling me that I'm a great player, a great listener and they really want me to be a part of their program," Whitley said.

"Right now I'm still open. I haven't made any kind of decisions at all," Whitley said.

"That's (the rumors about Whitley) people being too nosy. I'm still open to everybody," Whitley said. "It really doesn't matter what conference or where I go."

"What I like about Texas is that they have a great engineering program. That's what I want to major in - aerospace engineering - and that they're in Texas, close to home," Whitley said. "Also that they have a great family atmosphere."

Quotes from the high school coach of DE Jake McMillon on his commitment to Texas (OrangeBloods). McMillon has started for Abilene since he was a freshman:

"He called coach (Bo) Davis and coach (Mack) Brown both after visiting there on Saturday and committed to the Longhorns this morning," Abilene head coach Steve Warren said.

"It was tough on him. At the end of the day, he felt really at home (at Texas)," Warren said. "He felt like it's a family down there and he felt comfortable there."

"You're talking about a guy that's almost 6-3, 250 pounds, runs in the 4.6s in the 40," Warren said recently.

"He has great explosion, great strength. And he's a tremendous kid, a really good kid," Warren said.

"He's versatile. He can play a lot of places on the defensive line. I know (Texas) likes to move their guys around, and he has the speed to play on the edge and he's plenty strong and can play inside. I kind of think that's what they liked about him is that he can help out in different areas."

2015 CB Jalen Campbell of Corpus Christi Flour Bluff talks his UT commitment (24/7):

“I wanted to commit to the coaches in-person, and if I didn't do it then the next chance I would have would have been this summer at the camp,” Campbell said. “I couldn't wait to sit down and tell Coach Brown and Coach Akina I was coming.”

“They've (Texas) always been my No. 1 school,” Campbell said. “LSU was the first school that sent me anything, so they were up there. Once Texas offered, they were my childhood favorite and the offer put them over the top.”

“My family is loyal,” Campbell said. “Coach Brown didn't even need to explain it (the no-visit policy) to me. My family wouldn't have let me commit anywhere unless I was 100-percent sure that's where I wanted to be."

“I'm done,” he added. “I'm through with recruiting and it's a relief that it's over and I'm committed to Texas.”

“A lot of people down here never even get a D-I look, let alone an offer from Texas,” Campbell said. “Everybody down here likes Texas, and from the time I got the offer it's been a big deal to my friends, my family and everyone at school.”

“I had no idea things were going to get that big,” Campbell said. “After I got the MVP (at the Rivals camp) I was doing an interview and everyone kept telling me that this was just the beginning. It's been crazy for the past two weeks.”

More quotes from 2015 RB Soso Jamabo of Plano West (OrangeBloods):

"It was a great visit. When it started off, I got a tour of the campus. That was great. It's a beautiful campus," Jamabo said. "Then I got to see all the coaches, see the facilities - they were all just awesome. Finally, I got to meet Mack Brown and had a nice talk with him. Later on, he offered me a scholarship."

"Mack is a such a prestigious coach. I've always wanted to meet him," Jamabo said. "To meet him and have him offer a scholarship was amazing."

"I haven't really made a list of favorite schools so far, but Texas is definitely a favorite of mine. It's an awesome program, I've always hoped they would be recruiting me," Jamabo said. "They'd definitely be up there with the top schools."

"I think my strength are size are positives, and my quickness. I run with a lot of aggression and like to get outside, make people miss and use my speed," Jamabo said. "I need to work on getting tough, hitting holes, getting dirty and running people over when I get a chance."

"I'm definitely going to take my time with my decision," Jamabo said. "It's a big thing making decision on what college you want to go to. I want to talk to people around me, try to narrow things down, figure out what school is the best for me. "It will probably be later down the road on that."

"It's just the people around me. They push me to keep working hard," Jamabo said. "Even know that I have some offers, they tell me to keep working hard, give glory to God. I just try to surround myself with people who tell me to keep working hard."

“He said he expects big things out of me,” Pryor said, “and he’s going to come watch me in May and he knows I’m a good player.”

“I wasn’t planning on committing at all,” he said. “Not right then. I still want to think about it some. I feel like I’m in good shape right now.”

Update on DT Courtney Garnett of New Orleans, LA after his unofficial visit to Texas for the spring game (HornsNation). He's visiting OU next week and still wants to see Ole Miss before making a decision, but he's scheduled to be back in Austin the weekend of April 12th along with CB Jermaine Roberts and possibly S Mattrell McGraw:

“From now on I am comparing everybody to Texas because I think Texas is probably going to be the school I go to,” Garnett said. “I don’t know yet. Who knows?”

“Coach [Mack] Brown was just telling us how it’s an opportunity for a lot of the players that he is recruiting to play early because a lot of players will be leaving,” Garnett said. “The way it’s looking for me, if I do come in, I’m going to play early.”

“Talked with Coach Bo; I was in the meeting being able to see him coach the guys,” he said. “A firsthand take on how he coaches the guys was real cool. I think Coach Bo is a very energetic guy. I can see myself being coached by him. I can see myself coming to Texas.”

“It’s very important (to get to know your position coach) because you want to build a relationship with him. You want to know who he is going to bring in and how he is going to use you. I think it’s very important.”

“I know my teammate Jermaine [Roberts] likes it here,” Garnett said. “I’ll talk it over with my parents and if this is the place I want to be, then it may be the place. I still want to go to my other visits.”

Quotes from the father of WR Armanti Foreman on the family's decision to de-commit from Oklahoma (HornsNation):

"It's nothing against the university," said Darreck Foreman, Armanti's father. "We did it in fairness to the University of Oklahoma, their fans, Coach [Bob] Stoops and Coach [Jay] Norvell, who has been absolutely wonderful."

"I spoke with Coach Norvell last night, and he has been informed that that was our decision. It's almost like being in a marriage. When you're committed, you're committed. You're not looking around, and right now, at 16 years old, these other schools are coming into play. I think we kind of made a rushed decision. I mean, it was Oklahoma. ... We just decided to step back and kind of open it up."

"He's (Armanti) building a relationship with that (Texas) coaching staff, and he and [receivers] Coach [Darrell] Wyatt are pretty close," Darreck Foreman said. "That's not at all to say that he's decided to go to UT. But he was up there looking at the sights. ... They've been showing him the offense and where he would fit in."

"The only way I don't see him playing with his brother is if, for whatever reason, D'Onta has to go a different route," Darreck Foreman said. "I don't see that happening."

"I want to make this clear -- Oklahoma by no means is out of the picture," Foreman said. "We really respect Oklahoma. We really respect Coach Norvell. This decision was made out of respect for them and what they brought to the table for us."

"I don't want people to think it's a slap in the face to Oklahoma."

“Every day. They all (Texas commitments) stay in my ear,” Adams said Saturday after running at Texas Relays. “Text me, Twitter, everything. They do it up. They tell me every day, ‘Man, you need to commit and stop playing.’ They always say I’m next.”

Longview's head coach speaks about Texas offering WR Dorian Leonard (OrangeBloods):

"He's big, strong, physical. He has great hands and runs pretty good routes for a kid that's a multisport athlete," King said. "He's not just a total football player. He's involved in basketball too. He's very similar to what Malcolm Kelly was for us back in '03 and '04."

"We're going to try to improve his route running and his downfield speed," King said. "Those are two areas he can improve on. If he gets committed to his off-season training, doing some things on his own, he should be able to improve."

"He's a very quiet, soft spoken kid," King said. "He's unassuming and he lives for game time. I can tell you that he's definitely a different at game time than he is throughout the week."

"We've been in contact with coach (Stacy) Searels, who has been recruiting him all along. They thought they would go ahead and offer him. He's a big body, a guy they think can single up on one wide receiver side," King said. "He's physical, he blocks well, catches well."

"I don't know if he understands the significance of that (Texas offer). He's kind of new to the recruiting process," King said. "He was excited about the opportunity to meet coach (Mack) Brown."

"He hasn't indicated to me that he's ready to commit anywhere or anything like that. He has quite a few options but he hasn't indicated to me that he has any favorites or anything."

“He works hard in the weight room and he plays with a lot of excitement,” Dausin said. “He just loves football. Everything he does is goal oriented and he's always looking at how he can get better every day.”

“He plays with a high motor,” Dausin said. “He's physical, strong and he gets to the football.”

“You can't get him off the field,” Dausin said. “If he's hurt he'll never tell you. If you pull him off the field he'll fight you to get back in the game. He hates to lose.”
“I wouldn't play as hard as I do if I didn't want to dominate,” Lealaimatafao said. “I just love the game.”

“It was a big change,” Lealaimatafao said. “I loved the intensity. To be at the practice was big for me in helping me make my decision.”

“They wanted me to stay home, but they said it was my choice,” Lealaimatafao said of his family. “Ole Miss was my second choice, but that costs a lot to fly there every week. At Texas I'm right up the road. They love it.”

"I'm still trying to take it all in," Cuney said.

"Everyone already knew they were my number one school. I had been checking around a few places, but nothing is like the Longhorns," Cuneys said. "I grew up loving the Longhorns."

"I pretty much knew that's where I wanted to go, I was just waiting to make sure everything was right. I didn't want to rush. When I walked in there, I just felt like I had waited long enough, so I decided to go ahead and do it."

"They (other schools) just didn't match what the Longhorns have," Cuney said. "It's not just that they have more, it's just the part that I grew up loving Texas. I've always loved Texas, my town loves Texas. I just feel loved when you're there, you feel like you're special. And the people there love their team too."

"I didn't know I was going to commit. I went in there with just the same old mentality," Cuney said. "I had a thought when I got there, but didn't know the whole way down there. When i got there, it was like God was talking to me, telling me it was right."

"I'm glad I'm done with it. It's a big burden taken off me."

"My mom already had been wanting me to go ahead and commit," Cuney said. "She was just trying to make sure I went to college. So she was cool with the decision."

"I can see myself playing for them any day," Cuney said. "I think they know I can play anything, but I'll probably play center. I'm going to give it everything I've got, every year I'm there so I can try to compete for a champ every year I'm there. I don't like to lose, so I'll go hard at it."

“There are running backs everywhere,” he said. “They’re going to get offered regardless. I think if they’re thinking about getting them instead of me, I just need to work harder to get to where they want me to be the guy.”

"What really stood out to me, when (Bo Davis) was telling me I'd have a chance to play early or even start. Some of their guys would be gone by the time I got there so I could come in play as a true freshman. That stood out to me."

"I got to meet with him (Mack Brown), sit in his office. He showed me some of the things he has, his national championship ring and other cool stuff. It was a real honor," Mack said. "I really didn't even know what to say when I first saw him I was so shocked. It's a real honor for to sit in there, for him to tell me how much he wants me to play for his team."

"They're even (A&M and Texas). I knew when I got those two offers, it was pretty close between those two teams. A&M was leading a little. But Texas really just showed me a good time. Those are my two top teams, and they're really the only two schools I've visited."

"I like him (Bo Davis). He's a really cool coach," Mack said. "I can tell he keeps (his players) comfortable, they feel good being away from home. I'd like love to play for someone like that."

"I feel like I showed my ball get-off and my strength (at the Rivals camp). And my footwork and agility," Mack said. "It really shocked me (to get the Five-Star Challenge invitation), it feels pretty good. Going into the camp, I just wanted to see where I stood, where I compared with the best guys."

He committed to TSU at the beginning of March and I'm not sure he realizes how good he is because it's hard to see that commitment sticking. He only played in one game his junior year due to an injury so that's why you'll see a lack of offers. Difficult to tell just how interested UT is at this point because he's quite similar to WR Roderick Bernard, but we'll see what happens. Perkins will travel to A&M on Friday for their "Friday Night Lights" event. He was unable to attend Texas' second Junior Day.

"It's almost overwhelming," Shawn Campbell said. "It all happened pretty quick. We're pushing and pushing in the grass and the dirt here in Corpus Christi, and next thing you know, he blew up."

"It evolved over that week," Jalen said. "It took a while for me to even realize what happened and how blessed I am. After that week, I really got to soak it all in and think about the offer. Once I got up to the school, I figured I was ready."

"Texas was always our No. 1," Shawn Campbell said. "It's right there and it's close. He loves Texas and we love Texas. We didn't know what schools were going to come, but we were really hoping for Texas. It was almost a dream come true for him."

2015 S Larry Pryor of Sulphur Springs gives an update on his recruitment (24/7):

“The visit (to Texas) was a good one,” Pryor said. “I had a great time. I enjoyed spending time with Coach (Mack) Brown. He showed me around, then took me to his office. I took a few pictures with him and tried on some rings. He then let me see all the awards they had there, which were a ton. I took pictures with those, too.”

"After we did the pictures and that type of stuff he (Mack Brown) sat me down,” explained Pryor. “We talked about the university for a little bit and about the football program. He explained what they’re trying to do there. That’s when he offered me. They let me know that they loved my film and said I’m a very physical player, which is what they need at Texas”

“Getting that offer from Texas was great,” said Pryor. “I was amazed. I had never been so excited about something in my life. It was a great feeling. To hear the coaches tell you that was amazing. It was such an honor and I felt great about it.”

“Texas is my favorite right now,” Pryor told Hookem.com. “But I also like Texas A&M and Texas Tech. Those are two others that have caught my eye.”

“I haven’t been to Texas Tech yet, but will head there later this month. As for Texas A&M, I haven’t been back since my last visit to check them out, which I’m anxious to do. I’ll be going there on April 13th and Texas Tech on the 20th for the first time,” he added.

“Texas A&M is pretty close to knocking Texas off,” said Pryor. “Like I said though, I have to check them out again. I want to see their style of play and how exactly they do things there. They haven’t offered yet, but I’m hoping they do. I’m just going to be patient. If they did offer though, it would be a big deal.”

They were:

Idk where i want to go to college, but im low-key trying to get out of Texas though.

And

Im just waiting for _________ to offer me then its a done deal

Any idea what is going on with his recruitment?

The tweets have since been deleted.

Already been mentioned in this thread and no one really knows.
I find those tweets odd considering players usually aren't that explicit about their recruitment on twitter. So either Derick is stupid or someone else tweeted that.

Jeff Howe said: "As far as I know he's solid. I don't put much stock into what a 17-year-old tweets out -- you never know what might have prompted it or if he even posted it himself.I've attempted to reach out Roberson this evening but so far I haven't been able to touch base with him. If I hear anything you know I'll pass it along."

Some other guy in the same thread said: "Derick is committed to Texas. Believe me."
I have no idea how reliable this^ is though.

The issue is a lot bigger than one recruit. If Mack suffers losses like he did last year there will be potential mass exodus - especially if commits sense Mack will be gone. Texas needs a big year - there will be no wiggle room.

Regarding Roberson, he's one of the top DEs in the state and a national recruit, the tweets are very odd considering a player like that could essentially pickup offer wherever he wanted to go you would think.

It's just an open practice/scrimmage under the lights at Kyle that Sumlin started last year. Open to the public and a big recruiting weekend for him. Next weekend 4/13 is the actual A&M spring game.

A&M's Friday Night Lights expected visitors list for those interested:

Jarrett Johnson and Otaro Alaka are down to Texas and A&M as co-leaders and look to make a decision shortly after so will be a big visit for both.

The biggest battle from that list is one Texas looks to be out of unfortunately as Myles Garrett is a beast. It will be big night for Ags to make an impression as I know Garrett is tight with former teammate D-Fields at TCU and loves idea of playing with him, and TCU is selling Field's freshman season and they won't be afraid to start another freshman. A&M and TCU appear to be 1a and 1b.

I thought it might be a bad thing as well, but I was there and the entire lower west side bowl was filled.

Sumlin also had a live DJ, which was pretty sick.

Looks like Sumlin isn't matching Mack's new tactic of offering all these juniors early. A lot of 2015 guys left today without an offer.

No commitments last night.

I do think A&M is in great shape with both Jarrett Johnson and Myles Garrett and expect them to commit to A&M in the near future.

Still don't know about Alaka. From everything i've read it seems pretty wide open but if I had to guess, I would say Texas is still leading here.

A&M offered 3 C/O 2015 guys last night. Katy RB Rodney Anderson, West Orange-Stark S Deionte Thompson and University Lab (LA) RB Nick Brossette.
