WR Garrett Gray has picked up an offer, per Inside Texas.
A converted basketball guy, as far as I now. 6'5, 200lbs and reportedly ran 4.40, with 82 receptions, 1266 yards and 19 touchdowns in his first season of organized football.
Definitely an interesting guy!

There is a lot of new stuff to keep up with, so I'm going to post as much as I can today.
Y'all feel free to ask questions since yesterday was so crazy. Here we go...
TFloss32

2015 S Johnny Shaw of Center discusses his flip from TCU to Texas after yesterday's camp (24/7):
“Texas is Texas,” Shaw said. “I've always wanted to be here. That's me. It's who I am.”
“I'm just excited,” Shaw said. “This is the kind of thing that makes all the work worth with it.”
“I'm just going to keep working hard to get better,” Shaw said. “I learned some things from Coach [Duane] Akina today that I can go back and use."

06-10-2013, 09:02 AM
2015 ATH KeKe Coutee of Lufkin talks about his commitment to Texas (24/7):
“I'm down here and I just want to make it official,” Coutee said. “This is a great opportunity I have and I'm happy to be going to Texas.”
“I just love them,” Coutee said. “Great academics, great school and I've always been a fan.”
“It's great,” Coutee said. “I'm going to try to get more people to join because Texas is a great school.”

And quotes from the third commitment of the day, 2015 OL Connor Lanfear of Buda Hays (24/7):
“You don't understand,” Lanfear said just moments after he committed. “This is the greatest day of my life.”
“Ever since I was a little kid and started playing football all I've wanted to do is play Division I college football and I hoped I'd be fortunate enough to go to a program like this,” Lanfear said. “My family and I are so thrilled and we couldn't be more excited.”
“There's so many [good things about Texas] it's tough to decide,” Lanfear said. “It's all so surreal. I had no choice but to take it.”
“Everything was top notch. Everything was impeccable,” Lanfear said. “The staff was amazing. I couldn't be more impressed.”
“I kind of had some hints along the day that I'd be offered,” Lanfear said. “At the end of camp I talked to the coaches and the offer was extended. It was something I just couldn't pass it up.”

Texas' next commit could very well be S Jason Hall of South Grand Prairie...like today or tomorrow. He's on record saying he does plan to de-commit from Nebraska since he grew up a big Texas fan. A quote from 24/7:
“Nebraska didn't do anything wrong,” Hall said. “It's just Texas. Hopefully I do it really soon.”

Per 24/7, the father of WR Garrett Gray of Marble Falls says that he wouldn't be surprised if a decision is made at some point this week. However, there is a chance they take a step back to make some more visits before a commitment.
TFloss32
06-10-2013, 09:28 AM
WR Emanuel Porter of Dallas Lincoln talks about his Texas offer (24/7):
“I didn’t think I would get an offer at all,” said Porter. “I was shocked when they told me. I didn’t know what to say. It’s great to get such a big time offer from a big time program like Texas. A program like this, it was just shocking to get it."
“I’m still solid to TCU,” he added. “I don’t really know what to do now though. At the moment I’m still solid, but it’s going to give me a lot to think about, that’s for sure.”
“Everything today was great,” Porter said. “This is a great coaching staff. I’ve liked every single one I’ve talked to a lot. They’re all great coaches and great people. That’s one of the biggest reasons I like them so much. The visit was just real good. There are a lot of nice things around campus. I loved the atmosphere and everything about it.”

06-10-2013, 09:33 AM
Quote from 2015 WR Kemah Siverand of Cypress Ridge (24/7):
“I didn't commit but I did have a great time here at Texas. I really like Coach Mack Brown and the staff here at Texas. I want to let everyone know I'm big on Texas right now. I'm going to make my decision down the road and continue to let God lead me to the right place, and I really like this facility right here.”

06-10-2013, 09:38 AM
A new 2015 name to know is OL Trevor Elbert of Rockwall-Heath. He talks about being offered by Texas yesterday (24/7):
“I really enjoyed it,” said Elbert. “All my hard work really paid off today by getting that offer. It was a lot of fun being down here seeing everything Texas had to offer. I loved the facilities and getting to meet with the coaching staff. They’re great coaches, especially Coach (Stacy) Searels. I could really see myself playing for him.”
“You know, this is my first offer, which really means a lot to me,” said Elbert. “But right now I just want to keep my options open. I’d like to see other schools and see how they stack up against Texas. I’m going to work out with Texas Tech tomorrow, but don’t have any other visits planned at the moment.”
“I think a lot of the team and staff here,” he said. “They have a great tradition and can’t wait to see what more they have to offer. I’m looking forward to watching them this season and seeing how they perform.”

Update on 2015 CB Kris Boyd of Gilmer who also received a Texas offer yesterday (24/7):
“Man you should have seen my face,” said Boyd. “I had the biggest smile I think I ever had in my life. It was like ear to ear, seriously. I couldn’t quit smiling. When they told me I had an offer I probably smiled for like 20 minutes straight and I’ve just been happy about it all. I still can’t believe it.”
“Right now it’s Texas, then TCU and Baylor and Texas Tech,” Boyd said. “Right now TCU and Texas have offered me. But I love everything about Texas. They remind me a lot of my school back home and how they win a lot and have that desire to win. They work hard and have no days off. I also like them a lot because of Coach (Duane) Akina. He’s the best defensive backs coach there is and I love the way he coaches.”
“I want to make a decision before the season starts,” said Boyd. “Today’s offer means a lot and I’m going to go home and think hard about it. It’s something that really affects my recruitment you could say.”

The latest with 2015 QB Jarrett Stidham who was offered by both A&M and Texas this weekend (HornsNation):
“He (Major Applewhite) just said they were excited about me, liked my personality and the way I threw,” he said. “They just went ahead and offered. I was just fired up about it and told him I appreciated it and all that stuff.”
“They both have positives about them,” Stidham said of the Longhorns and Aggies. “But, like I’ve said, everything is just really wide open and I don’t want to make a commitment anytime soon. I told Applewhite that. I don’t have a favorite. Everything is wide open.”
“It is definitely cool. They (Texas) are one of the top teams in the nation year in and year out,” Stidham said. “Their tradition is crazy. Just to be recruited by them is pretty cool. Just to say that you’ve been recruited by them is awesome. But to actually say you have an offer is pretty special in itself.”
“First and foremost, I’ve got to worry about my high school team first and win a state championship,” he said. “Then I’ll worry about college. I just do my thing and don’t really worry that much about it.”

2015 OL Aaron Garza of Sherman reviews the June 9th summer camp (HornsNation):
“I definitely wanted to prove that I deserved the offer and didn’t get it based off my highlight film,” Garza said. “I wanted to show them that I do have the qualities and have what it takes to be a college football player.”
“I started out kind of slow but woke up,” he said. “My conditioning was on point so I think they saw that. Toward the end of the day I went against the big defensive tackles and did really well. In my opinion I dominated.”
“It felt like a tease,” he said. “It just sucks that I have to wait a few more years to get down there. I have to see if I can cope with it for another two years. I am definitely ready to get down here."
“I want to have the best team I can,” he said. “I am not going to push them to not come to Texas. I want to have the best team I possibly can. I want a national championship. I kind of feel like it is my responsibility to push some of the best recruits to go to Texas to improve our winning chances. I mean everyone wants what’s best for their team, right?”

Floss, any idea of what/who Texas wants at WR? Two already on board. Armanti Foreman looks like a done deal if D'onta get's his offer. Garrett Gray now has Texas on top, it seems. Emmanuel Porter has some serious thinking to do. Texas still wants Trey Quinn on campus, he want's to visit and we all know what the 40 Acres do to recruits. Then there is KD Cannon, who could be a NSD decision.
I know that you're going to take Quinn (longshot, I know. Just taking him in the equation) and Cannon, no matter what. But if Gray, Porter and Foreman are all on board, I doubt it, but it could happen. Then you are sitting with 6-7 WR's and that's without JUCO D'haquille Williams who has Texas in his top five.
It's an extreme situation, I know, but hopefully you get the point.

It is difficult to tell because we've never seen Texas throw out offers like this. With Bernard and Joe on board, I think they're willing to take all three of Foreman, Gray and Porter with the idea that Gray could be a flex TE type (even though I think he's plenty fast on the outside). We'll just have to wait and see what Applewhite's offense looks like in the fall.
Cannon isn't making a decision soon so this allows Texas to get their WR situation squared away with some nice talent and you can continue to go all-out for him and JUCO WR D'haquille Williams. Either one would simply be a bonus if you can swing it. You also have to consider Williams would be an automatic starter and most likely one-year guy, so he can be taken regardless of numbers at the position.

Quotes from 2015 QB Chason Virgil of West Mesquite after receiving his Texas offer (24/7):
“I feel like it changes things for me,” Virgil said. “Texas could be a good fit for me. I want to talk to Coach Applewhite and get to know him a lot better. Now that I have a Texas offer, maybe teams will start looking at me harder too.”
“It was kind of overwhelming,” said Virgil. “It was my goal to come down here to get it. So it wasn’t that shocking to me. I knew I could do it. I just set my mind to it and that’s what I came out here to do.”
“I think that Texas has a lot of positives,” he said. “They’re a winning program. They’re in a little bit of a rebuilding stage, but they’re going to get back to the top. I truly believe that. They work hard and they have great coaches.”
“Right now I don't know when I want to have a decision made,” he said. “I just know I’ll be committed to a school going into my senior year. I don't know when that decision will be made.”

Update on 2015 DE/LB Anthony Wheeler of Dallas Skyline (24/7):
“Texas is at the top for me,” he said. “The visit helped a lot. I like them even more after this visit.”
“I’ve really always liked Texas when I was growing up as a kid,” Wheeler said. “I really like them now too though. It’s just how the coaches treat me here and how they handle all the others kids too. The facilities stick out a lot for me too.”
“They’re still recruiting me as a linebacker, but they’re also talking to me about defensive end now,” said Wheeler. “When we were doing our drills, they had me working on pass rush as a defensive end. Then they had me do one on ones with the linebackers."
“I feel like I can contribute at both. I got a little speed that allows me to rush the edge,” he added.

RB Rodney Anderson of Katy talks about his Texas offer (OrangeBloods):
"It happened (Saturday)," said Anderson. "I came down into Austin and went and had a meeting with Mack Brown and coach Larry Porter and we just talked about the campus and academics and the football aspects."
"It was a little bit of a surprise," responded the running back. "They contacted my coach and told him to tell me to give them a call and they asked me to come down."
"We just talked about the opportunities of a running back at Texas and thought I'd be a good fit," the Katy product stated. "It did make sense. This past season I ran out of the backfield and was in the slot. It (the meeting) was a lot more focused around what they wanted to do with me. I was impressed with the way the coaches acted and what they were about."
"He's a great coach," said Anderson about the Texas running backs coach. "He knows his stuff. He's real down to earth and I can tell he knows what he's talking about. He's easy to relate to."
"She (Anderson's mother) liked it," stated Anderson. "She was very happy. She had a good time."
"I was impressed," said Anderson about the trip. "They're definitely up on my list. And I've still got two years so I'm still trying to feel my way through things at this point and will try to get together a top five soon."

WR Garrett Gray discusses his commitment to Texas (HornsNation):
“It's amazing, man. I’m excited about it,” Gray said. “I was always real high on them. They made me feel like family, and they’re going to win. They offered me because they want to go three- and four-wide with their offense, and I went home and thought about it and reached my decision.”
“It’s where I want to be,” Gray said. “I grew up around here and I love where I’m at. I want to be part of that program. They’re going to turn the corner, and I want to be part of that.”
“They told me my role depends on how I grow. If I put on 10 or 15 more pounds they’ll put me out wide, but I can play inside," Gray said. "Wherever they can find a mismatch, really. If I get to 240 or 260, they’ll put me at tight end and I can go against linebackers. That’s not Major Applewhite’s plan, but I can be a matchup problem out there.”

Quotes from one the new offers, S Jason Hall of South Grand Prairie (24/7):
“It feels great to be offered by a school you've been watching since you were little,” Hall said. “From Vince Young and Michael Huff, all the way to [Kenny] Vaccaro this year. Since I've been little it's been Texas.”
“The chances are very strong,” Hall said of the possibility he chooses the Longhorns. “I don't have a set time to decide or anything like that.”
“Nebraska didn't do anything (wrong),” Hall said. “It's just Texas. They came in.”
“Beautiful. Great,” Hall said. “It's a great school.”
“Overall it's just a great school,” Hall said. “Everything is just top notch and 100 percent.”
“They have that connection with their players,” Hall said. “They're going to take care of you and show you what's right and what's wrong in the drills. They'll bring out the 110 percent in you.”

Update on OL Zach Ledwik who took an unofficial visit to Texas yesterday (24/7). He will be in College Station again tomorrow after attending their camp on Sunday:
“The visit was good,” said Ledwik. “I was there from about 9:30 in the morning until 3:00 that afternoon. I got to see a lot of what Texas had to offer and see a lot of different things about their program and their academics."
“Their strength and conditioning program, their coaches and their academics are what stood out the most about it,” he added.
“The quick pace of their (A&M) camp was kind of surprising,” Ledwik said. “I really didn’t get to work with Coach (B.J.) Anderson long enough to build a strong opinion of the program though. That’s not a negative comment, but I just didn’t get a lot of time.”
“I’ll just say that Texas and Texas A&M are at the higher part of my list,” said Ledwik. “I want to make a decision either after the summer or early during the football season. That’s the plan now.”
“I just want a school with good academics and a good, preferably winning, program,” he said. “If you have those then the rest sort of takes care of itself.”

It's a great year for sure. I'd get greedy and try to wrap up all five:
Anderson- versatile in that you can put him the slot
Bradford- every down back, great size and amazing speed
Jamabo- every down guy or he ends up at another position
Stevenson- Daje type role, situational back you can use on sweeps and in the slot
Warren- already huge, least likely to stay at RB and someone you take no matter what

-OL Jovan Pruitt and S Payton Hendrix of Dallas Bishop Dunne are supposed to be on campus today.
-2015 DT Daylon Mack is supposedly opening his recruitment up again. His mother isn't happy that he seems to be rushing the process. With that said, A&M is still the overwhelming favorite and he'd be committed right now if he had his parents' blessing.
-S Arrion Springs has decided to make his commitent at the The Opening. The bad news is he's headed for an unofficial visit to Oregon on June 18th, but the good news is the Texas staff will get the last word as he'll be in Austin on June 28th before heading to The Opening.

2015 QB Kyler Murray of Allen discusses his Texas offer (HornsNation):
“Definitely excited about Texas,” he said. “With the A&M offer people say ‘Blah, blah, blah’ and whatever. That’s not true. I am definitely weighing my options and am highly interested in Texas. They do everything I like. I love the coaches. We’ll have a better relationship as this goes on. But I love everything about Texas right now.”
“Basically he (Mack Brown) said that he was all in,” Murray said. “They like what I can do. They said they need a guy that can move around and throw the ball at the same time. I can do all of that. He definitely likes me and wants me to come down.”
“Whether he (Murray's father) hates them or not, he definitely loves Coach Brown and Coach [Major] Applewhite,” Murray said. “He is good friends with Bruce Chambers so he’s psyched.”
“Texas A&M, I mean, yes, of course, it’s a big thing that my dad went there,” he said. “If it wasn’t Texas A&M it wouldn’t be this big. People wouldn’t be making as big a deal about it as they are. To me, Texas A&M is just another school. I’m going to look at it the same as every other school. I have a good relationship with the coaches. I’m just going to go wherever I feel is best for me. Texas, I definitely have an interest in Texas. Wherever I go is where I am meant to be.”
“I’m still 15,” he said, laughing. “It is crazy with the state championship, all the offers, the attention. It is a dream to be a young kid and be able to go wherever you want to play football, and I have that chance. It’s pretty cool.”

2015 QB Ricky Town's father talks about the trip to Austin (HornsNation):
“We liked it a lot. They’re straight shooters. They're genuine dudes,” Town said. "It’s a good fit. It’s not one of those schools that’s like, ‘blah, blah.’ They get down to business and they wanted to see very specific stuff and know that you were interested in them. I think they hit it off with Ricky really well.”
“Their stadium is huge. Top-notch facilities. It’s just a classy place,” Town said. “I think it’s a really good fit. It’s just a matter if him really seeing these top three or five schools he’s interested in and going from there.”
“He (Mack Brown) has to put on his recruiting face and he’s a very friendly and cordial guy, very talkative and informative,” Town said. “But when I asked if he had any advice for the kid, his recruiting face came off. He got real intimate."
“He talked about what you really have to do, and he gave us genuine, genuine information and advice. There were a couple times when he was more of a family member than a coach at this point. He gave extremely valid and great advice.”
“Texas may have caused us to slow it down a little bit,” Rick Town said. “You can’t just jump into decision. His mom wants to see the school before he commits, so we really starting thinking about us coming to a game at Texas, a game at Alabama, a game at a couple other schools and really get a feel before we commit.”

More quotes from 2015 DE/LB Anthony Wheeler of Dallas Skyline (HornsNation):
“I want to keep the linebacker tradition going at Skyline,” he said. “There is a little bit of pressure because so many good linebackers have come out of Skyline. Some are doing good in college. It’s a lot of pressure.”
“It went pretty good down there (in Austin),” he said. “I actually played linebacker some. They played me at defensive end, too, and I did pretty good with that. I liked the way the whole camp went, the presentations about the school and the way the coaches treated everyone. I liked how the camp went.”
“I actually like linebacker the best but it really doesn’t matter where I play,” he said. “They are very similar. I feel like I like linebacker more because of the mental part of the game. You have to train yourself more to understand the game and show how much more critical you can be.”
“He (Manny Diaz) talked to me and said that he liked the way I look,” Wheeler said. “He just told me I need to work on the mental part of the game and on my footwork some. He sees me being a good prospect in 2015.”
“My goal was just to show what all I could do, how good of a player I could be and to see how the coaches interact with other players during the camp,” he said. “It’s a family atmosphere at Texas.”
“UT, SMU, Texas Tech, Notre Dame, LSU and OU (are the favorites),” he said.

2015 RB Jay Bradford says he considered comitting to Texas last Sunday (HornsNation):
“I really wanted to commit,” Bradford said. “But I’ve got to have more time to think about things.”
“When I got that offer from the Mack Brown, my heart kind of just stopped,” he said. “I was like, ‘Wait, what? An offer from the Mack Brown?’ I was speechless."
“He’s (Mack Brown) one of a kind,” he said. “He’s funny, he knows what he’s talking about, he has so much experience and one thing I really did like was his office. You don’t see an office like that anywhere. It was amazing. I liked that. I held the rings and held the Heisman. Whew, that Heisman was heavy.”
“I talked to my grandma and grandpa all about it. They’re leaning toward Texas because it is close to home and it’s a great school for business, and I want to go into business,” he said. “But I’ve got a few more years to think about this stuff.”
“It was hard to get my name out there coming from such a small school,” Bradford said. “I guess now the word is getting out.”

2015 WR Kemah Siverand gives an update on his recruitment (HornsNation):
“The (Texas) staff was pretty cool with me,” Siverand said. “I like the staff and I could see myself playing for Texas. But I could also see myself playing at some other universities as well.”
“Texas took their time and brought in two professors from my major that I want to major in, engineering,” Siverand said. “I don’t think any other university would do that. I know I’m going to be taking an official visit to Texas next year.”
“My mom, she said she could see me going there because she likes the staff and they have good mentors, and she likes coach Brown because he’s honest,” Siverand said. “That’s the one thing she really liked about the coaches, they’re honest.”
“It’s still a long way away,” Siverand said. “I did not tell them I was going to commit or anything and they got excited and said I might commit. That wasn’t what I said. I just have to watch what I say.”
“Texas rolled out the red carpet for me, they did all this for me and they really want me,” he said. “It’s been meaningful to me. Like I said, I could see myself at Texas someday.”

Quotes from P Corbin Daly and his kicking coach on his commitment to Texas (24/7). He was offered a full ride so he'll count against scholarship numbers:
“It feels fantastic,” Daly said. “I'm so excited. I can't wait to play here.”
“I've always loved Texas,” Daly said. “Growing up I always told myself I want to play at Texas. It finally came true and I'm excited by that. I love the state, too. It's a heck of a state.”
“He's a great guy. He's such a nice guy,” Daly said of Longhorn coach Mack Brown. “He's a family man. He really cared about family relationship.”
“I grew up loving this place. It's amazing that I got the opportunity to come here.”
"Corbin is as ready as they come for a high school punter," Sailer said. "His athleticism, natural ability, and confidence point towards immediate success. I expect Corbin to be an All-Conference (or) All-American Player in his time at Texas."
"Corbin has been training with Chris Sailer Kicking for some time now. He proved himself time and time again. I'm not surprised Texas pulled the trigger. They got a good one!"

Gerry Hamilton said Texas had backed off after deciding to load up on WRs. We thought he was good enough to play here and almost certainly wouldn't have gotten him if we had kept trying, but I don't think he was any longer our top OL target. In fact, I'm not sure there is one for 2014; I think we're content with Cuney and big OL classes in 2013 and 2015.

Quotes from the father of the Foreman brothers (24/7):
“I can tell you without a doubt that Texas is the top school now,” Mr. Foreman said on Saturday. “With the visit going the way it did, it made both mom and grandma very happy. They ironed out the details about D’Onta’s offer and everyone is very happy about it all. The University of Texas is definitely sitting on top now for both of my sons.”
“Texas is first (for Armanti),” Mr. Foreman said. “But after them it’s in no order. The other schools he’s considering are Oregon, USC, Florida and Miami. Kansas State and Oklahoma are also out there, but it’s those top five for right now, with the Longhorns being the top school.”
“Texas is Texas. We’ve always had a great amount of respect for them and have always liked them as a program,” Mr. Foreman said. “For them to offer both of my sons and provide them with a chance to play together is big. It’s very big. They already thought a lot of Texas and the coaches before this happened, so now that everything is set and in order, well I can’t stress how big of a deal this is to them."
“Like I said, there’s no doubt that the University of Texas is on top. They’re the favorite, hands down.”

Update on LB Cameron Hampton of Dallas Carter (24/7):
“Everything has been going great since I committed to Texas,” said Hampton. “I really like that I don’t have to worry about recruiting anymore. That’s actually the best part of it."
“Now I get to focus on my season and getting better as a player instead of worrying about the recruiting process. It’s been real nice. No more stress.”
“I still hear from a lot of schools,” he said. “Ohio State, Oklahoma State, USC and Florida are still probably recruiting me the hardest. I tell them not to even worry about me, but they keep on. I tell them that I’m definitely a Longhorn and that won’t be changing. I’m not worried about other schools besides Texas.”
“I’m definitely 100-percent committed to the Horns,” said Hampton. “I don’t care about any other schools. I talk to Coach Diaz at least two or three times a week. We talk often and have a great relationship. I don’t want to be anywhere else. I’m a Longhorn for life.”
“It was a lot of fun to participate and hang out with my future teammates and coaches (at the June 2nd camp),” Hampton said. “I enjoyed hanging out with the other commits the most. I’ve gotten to know them very well and I feel like we’re all already a family. A lot of those guys are now my best friends, especially Jerrod Heard. He and I are very tight and are always talking about Texas.”
“We’re going to be doing big things soon,” he said. “We’re all focused on getting things turned around down there and I’m very happy to be a part of that. Texas is 100-percent real. We’re coming back and we’re going to win a lot. Other teams need to be on the lookout.”

CB Jermaine Roberts talks about his recent trip to Austin (OrangeBloods):
"It was fun knowing that (Akina) does some of the things I already train for with my high school coach. Coach Akina spends a lot more time on it but it's similar things, so I liked that," Roberts said. "It's mostly different types of movements, putting your body in different positions, things like that."
"That was my first time working out with him but he's a cool coach," Roberts said. "He's always energized and ready to work."
"That was also my first time really walking around the campus by myself, seeing different things. It's a big campus, but it's cool since it's right by downtown there is lots to do and everybody is cool."
"It just made me even more solid with my commit, knowing that's the place for me, my relationship with the coaches and how they treat their players, knowing I'll do a great job there with coach Akina."
"I'm just going to shut it (recruiting) down right now. I'm still lifting and running with my teammates, but that's about it," Roberts said.

Quotes from JUCO TE John Thomas (24/7). He is scheduled to enroll at UT in Summer 2014:
“The first time I talked to Texas was three weeks ago,” Thomas said. “Maybe now that I'm here in Texas it's different than when I was from Louisiana.”
“I just happened to be in town so I just went there,” Thomas said. “They showed me a lot of stuff. They showed me around the Moncrief Complex and I got to look at all of the trophies, the lounge, the locker room and the weight room. It was a good visit.”
“He (Mack Brown) was very excited,” Thomas said. “It was my first time ever talking to Coach Brown and my heart bumping kind of fast. I told myself I just needed to relax. He basically said that if I'm 100-percent committed to them then they'll be 100-percent committed to me. That was pretty much it.”
“My junior year of high school I was an OK blocker, but now I'm driving bigger kids off the ball,” Thomas said. “I'm much more disciplined in my footwork and technique. I've always been that guy who can attack vertically and make plays.”
“My education is important to me and I'm majoring in communications,” Thomas said. “Texas has it's own network and that really stood out. My mom can come see my play all of my home games and all of the Big 12 games. We actually just moved to DeSoto, so everything is right around there where she can make it.”
“I don't know about all of the big expectations. I'm there just to put in work,” Thomas said. “That's all I want to do is go in and work hard. I'm going to do everything I can to play and if I end up starting then it happens. If the coaches want me to be a backup guy who comes in and makes plays then I'll be the best I can doing that."

Texas is contemplating a move on S Payton Hendrix of Dallas Bishop Dunne (24/7). He camped at UT last Friday:
http://247sports.com/Player/Payton-Hendrix-30241
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCCKp0tKRz4
“Recruiting for me has blown up,” said Hendrix. “I have 19 offers now. I don’t have any favorites or anything like that though. I’m just open to everyone. The schools that have recently come on strong though are ones like Texas, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Iowa and Washington. They’re all recruiting me pretty hard.”
“The contact with Texas actually started about a month before spring football started,” said Hendrix. “Coach (Bruce) Chambers came by and saw me workout. Ever since then they’ve been talking to me and recruiting me.”
“I visited Texas on Friday and it went really good,” Hendrix said. “It was my first visit there. It sort of opened my eyes to their program down there. I really like the staff they have at Texas, especially Coach (Duane) Akina. I had a chance to do a 1-on-1 workout with him and that was a big deal to me. I really like Texas now for sure. It’s a nice place and they have a great campus.”
“I didn’t receive an offer but we did talk about it some,” said Hendrix. “They want to bring in like five or six defensive backs in my class, which is something we talked about. Coach Akina told me they currently have some offers out right now to other guys, but that one could be coming my way soon.”
“I think that if they did end up offering I would be very grateful and it would be an honor to receive it,” Hendrix said. “I’d have to say that they would be one of my top schools when I narrowed it down and I’d have to consider them a lot. They’re DBU, so as a defensive back, you have to look at them hard if they offer. They’re one of the best.”

Interesting, and quite scary, read on D'haquille Williams and his decommitment, from a poster on one of the 247 boards.
basically the reason why he decommitted and maybe wants to go elsewhere is because of his home environment.
sometime after his commitment, he attended a party at his aunt's in laplace or something like that and some thugs came by and killed his 16 year old cousin. they later found a note at the house saying that d'haquille was next.
next day, DW gets mugged and robbed at a gas station as his cell phone and wallet are stolen.
he then flies to colorado to stay with a relative and get away from it all. basically, he's scared to come home to that environment.

Update on 2015 QB Chason Virgil of West Mesquite (24/7):
“It’s been over a week since I’ve received that Texas offer, so I have had some time to think about it,” said Virgil. “It’s a great feeling to know you have one from a school like Texas. Going down there, I really wanted that offer, so to get it was a blessing for me. It was a little shocking, but I was confident that I would get it.”
“I’ve been talking to Coach Applewhite some since I left Austin,” he said. "I called him up a couple of times and told him thank you for offering me and for working with me when I was down there."
"He’s a great quarterback coach. It’s nice to learn from someone who played at the position. Not only that, but played at the position of the school that you’re talking about going to. He’s a great coach and a great guy.”
“That Texas offer was sort of a game-changer for me,” said Virgil. "It definitely affects my recruitment. To have them label me as one of the top players in the state means a lot and, at the same time, it helps my recruitment out. People see that you’re offered from Texas and they take notice. It’s definitely a big deal for me.”
“Right now I’m just letting everything play out,” Virgil said. "I’m at least going to wait until after my junior year. I don’t want to make a decision until it’s over with, at the earliest. I’m not really trying to think about it. But after next year, during my offseason, we'll see what happens then."
“Right now I don’t have any favorites,” he added. "I’m wide open with my recruitment and am interested in anyone who’s interested in me. There are a few schools like Texas, Auburn and UCLA that have my attention early on, but they aren’t what I’d say are my top three or anything like that. I’m open to everyone.”
“The most important thing to me when I do pick a school is just feeling comfortable,” said Virgil. "I want to feel like a big family when I’m on campus. Other than that, I want a good quarterback coach, a good system that fits me and a school that offers a great education.”

The latest with RB D'Onta Foreman and his twin brother, WR Armanti Foreman (HornsNation). Looks like Texas isn't going to take one without the other:
“I told him (Larry Porter) that I want to commit, and he was proud and happy,” D’Onta said. “He said they really like me and they’re glad I committed, but he couldn’t accept my commitment yet because he had to go through Mack [Brown], because everything goes through Mack first.”
“I really don’t know what he’ll (Armanti) do,” D’Onta said. “I talked to him about it and he’d really like to play with me, but he has a lot of options. He doesn’t want to choose right now. It’s kind of crazy, because he knows Texas is a wonderful fit for him. But he’s been saying, ‘I want to weigh my options. I want to take my visits.’ That’s mostly what it is, he wants to take his visits.”
“To me, I think it’s going to come down to Texas or Texas A&M for Armanti,” D’Onta said. “It would kind of surprise me if he went to another school. I honestly feel like he wants to go to Texas. I honestly feel that he’s eventually going to say, ‘Forget it, I want to play with you and we’re going to do this thing together."
“He wants to play at Texas, but he also wants to weigh his options. He’s stuck in between those two things and he’s really in a hard place. He told me he’s been thinking about it a lot. He really doesn’t know.”

S Jason Hall of South Grand Prairie talks about where his recruitment stands (HornsNation). It was mentioned on 24/7 this morning that Texas could pull back on both Hall and S John Bonney if LB/S Edwin Freeman commits before they do:
“Right now, I couldn’t really tell you the heads or tails of it,” Hall said. “It’s still the summer. I don’t know. I’m still committed. I’ll just lay the things out and see how things work out.”
“It was a big thing,” Hall said. “As a kid watching Texas football and living in Texas, I’m not saying the offer was a shocker, but it was an overwhelming feeling.”
“I feel like some people are putting me on the spot with, ‘Is he gonna decommit? Is he going to stay committed?’” Hall said. “People are making a big scene about it. Texas and Nebraska are both great schools, don’t get me wrong.”
“They both have great attributes of what I’m looking for,” he said. “It’s going to be a hard thing to decide on. I really couldn’t tell you right now.”

A few quotes from 2015 DT Daylon Mack of Gladewater (HornsNation):
“The reason I didn’t make my decision earlier was Texas,” Mack said. “Texas did tell me they’re going to get it turned around, so I want to see for myself if it does get turned around. They told me they’re on the rise and they’re going to be good. They said, ‘Don’t commit early. Watch us and see for yourself.’”
“Winning could really change that,” he said. “If Texas comes on with it and has a good, winning season, I just might change my mind. I really am thinking about going there, even if they don’t win the national championship. Even if they have an 8-5 season I’m still considering them because they were my childhood favorite team growing up.”

Update on S Arrion Springs after his unofficial visit to Oregon last week (HornsNation):
“Oregon is definitely No. 1,” Springs said. “Yeah, they’re No. 1.”
“It was awesome. It exceeded my expectations,” Springs said. “It’s a great time to be at Oregon, and they’re doing big things right now. The vibe was good and they’re doing good things. Nothing but positives.”
“I’m just going to hear their (Texas') last pitch before I go make my decision,” he said. “My mom and I will go up that day and visit and hang out with Mack Brown and coach [Duane] Akina before I go to Oregon (for The Opening).”
“We all get along well and click,” he said. “Coach [John] Neal, he’s like a father figure to me and a great person. Me and coach [Scott] Frost get along great, and me and coach [Mark] Helfrich get along, too. The whole staff was great. There isn’t a thing about them I don’t like or don’t want to be a part of.”
“I’m not really too worried about it,” he said. “Oregon is really not that far for me to come back home sometimes, and I’m ready to get away. I’ve been here my whole life. Eugene seems like the place to be.”
“They’re pretty much opposites,” Springs said. “Texas is a big city and Eugune is a small college town. They both have great fan support and facilities, great DB coaches. It’s just how I feel there, since I’m going to be there for a long time.”
“I’m leaning toward Oregon a lot harder now,” he said, “but I’m sure coach Akina and Mack Brown have some tricks up their sleeve for my final visit there.”

“It was a great visit (the June 2nd camp),” said Freeman. “I wasn’t planning on going down there originally, but the coaches told me that they really wanted me back down on campus, so I decided to go. I’m glad I did because I had a really good time and it was a lot of fun. The coaches treated me good like always and that was my favorite part, especially getting to hang out with Coach (Duane) Akina.”
“Everything is still about the same,” Freeman said. “Texas is still my top school. They’re my number one without a doubt and none of the other two schools are close to them. After Texas though, it’s Texas A&M and then TCU as my number three, but Texas is definitely my favorite.”
“I wanted to get down there (Baton Rouge) soon, but now I don’t know,” he said. “I’m now trying to go to The Opening, so I don’t know about my LSU trip. I’m not sure what’s going to happen with that now."
“I’d still like to go check them (LSU) out, but I’m not too worried about it,” he added. “I guess I'll have to see what happens, but I’m not too worried about it.”

Euless Trinity's recruiting coordinator talks about the recruitment of 2015 OL Patrick Vahe (24/7):
“I can tell you he likes Texas a lot,” said the source. “He really, really likes them and they're his favorite team. He talks about them a lot and tells everyone they're his favorite team. I thought by now he might have already committed, especially after his cousins (the Teuhema brothers) committed. They’ve talked to him about it as well and are recruiting him for Texas.”
“I really don’t think he goes anywhere else (other than Texas),” the source told Horns247. “Like I said, he’s always made it clear he loves Texas and now, with Maea and Sione going there, I’m pretty sure it’s going to happen, I just don’t know when. I could see it going down as soon as tomorrow, but since it hasn’t happened yet, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was next year.”
“He’s very high on Texas and is still sort of in shock that they offered him,” said Thompson. “He’s still been very excited about everything that transpired. A lot of schools have looked at him since the Longhorns have offered, and before, but Texas is the one he seems the highest on.”

“He's (Mack Brown) real fun,” Pryor said. “He was funny. He showed me around his office and everything. It was fun.”
“I honestly don't know,” Pryor said. “I was just a kid who grew up in Texas liking Texas I guess.”
“They (Texas coaches) wanted me to come to a camp, but I told them I had a pretty good feel for them,” Pryor said. “I'm just trying to get out and see some other schools.”
“They (Texas A&M) said I probably won't be getting an offer soon,” Pryor said. “As of right now that's what they've said."

Per Bleacher Report, looks like we might have a better chance than many think with Fournette.
"Michigan, I like Michigan. School-wise, they're more focused on grades than football. That's what I like about them. I think Jabrill made a good choice."
Fournette went on to say that he would like to visit Ann Arbor in the fall for an official visit, per Sullivan's report.
While this is potentially groundbreaking news for Brady Hoke and his staff, Fournette also talked about Texas, per Herndon's piece:
"Oh Texas, it's beautiful out there. I love Texas," Fournette told Rivals (http://alabama.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1514737) of his visit to Austin. "Me and coach (Mack) Brown, he's so laid back and he keeps it real with you. It's his approach. It's different. He'd rather be your friend before he's your coach."
Wherever he does end up, Fournette has star potential.

More from 2015 DT Daylon Mack on his recruitment (24/7). He's expected in Austin tomorrow with his parents:
“Everything with recruiting has been going good,” said Mack. “I’m holding off on committing now though. I just felt that I needed more time before I made my final decision, because once I commit, I'm completely done with recruiting.”
“It could definitely happen,” said Mack. “The others just have to have a great season and continue to recruit me hard. I also have to continue to get along with them all. All of their success this upcoming season, including Texas A&M, will have a big impact on my recruitment.”
“I think my mind could change and it’s possible,” he added. “People don’t recruit me as hard because I say Texas A&M is my top choice, but I feel like there is a possibility of a change if I got recruited hard enough.”
“Oh yeah (Texas is a good candidate to change his mind),” he said. “I feel like they are and Miami too if they started to recruit me. Texas was my childhood team and I love the staff there. With Miami I love the old players they had and how they dominated. Both schools definitely could make me change.”
“I’ll be going down there on Thursday,” Mack said. “It’s going to be me, my mom, brother and my dad going on the trip. The coaches said they are going to take us around the campus and let us see it, along with doing a few other things."
“I think it'll be a great time,” he added. “I always enjoy getting to talk with Coach (Bo) Davis, Coach (Mack) Brown and Coach (Stacey) Searels.”

Quotes from the father of the Foreman twins on where things stand with their recruitments (OrangeBloods):
"I was trying to get in contact with them to make everything official. D'Onta, his mind is made up about the University of Texas and him wanting to go ahead and commit there," Mr. Foreman said. "I guess the timing was just bad. The day he actually received the offer, that was the day they (the UT coaches) were going on vacation. Everyone has been gone, so he hasn't been able to make it official. But he's definitely going to commit to the University of Texas."
"I've spoken with coach (Larry) Porter. When a person commits, coach Brown would like to give his blessing on the commitment. That's really what we're waiting on."
"They didn't know if we (the family) would be on board with Texas, especially mom. One thing I can appreciate, when they recruit someone, they recruit the family. They wanted to make sure everything was good," Mr. Foreman said. "I've been to Texas a few times, seen the campus, met everyone. But mom had never been up there and toured the campus, shook hands and met everyone. They went up there, had a good time, felt at home with Texas and thought Texas was a good fit. Shortly after, D'onta was like, 'I'm ready to commit.'"
"We talked about that. I said, 'Are you solid on this. You don't want to take visits?' He said he Illinois or K-State would have been his next choice. But when Texas came, he knew that was where he wanted to go," Mr. Foreman said. "I think D'Onta is solid enough with Texas. Texas offered him at the position he wants to play, which is running back. A&M was looking at D'Onta as an outside linebacker with his size, speed, ability to cover out of the backfield. That's what they were looking at, but his heart is at playing running back. When Texas offered him at running back, he said 'I don't have to look any more. This is what I want.'"
"Before Texas offered, I saw the possibility of them not playing together. The frontrunner probably was K-state because they offered both of them," Mr. Foreman said. "When Texas came into the fold, there wasn't any more thinking for D'Onta. He was going to go to Texas, going to perform, do what he has to do."
"I think the end all, be all, I think Texas is the front runner (for Armanti) just because of the relationship he has with the coaches there and his brother. And we all like Texas. We've all been there, both his grandmothers have bee there, we all love Texas."
"Let me make this clear. Nobody trying to hold Texas hostage," Mr. Foreman said. "If I had my dream, it would be, let's commit and get this out of the way. Let's focus on your senior season and trying to win a state championship and avoid all the hoopla and unnecessary phone calls."
"That's why I told him to narrow it down to a top five. There's no need for September to roll around where colleges can start calling their phones, with them getting calls every day and night and you know you're not interested in their school. It's a waste of your time, a waste of their time."
"Armanti is strong headed. He's not going to be constricted to any time frame. His attitude is ... I'm going to take my time."

Quotes from WR Emanuel Porter after committing to Texas (OrangeBloods):
"It was really crazy. Everyone was calling my phone. I wasn't expecting it to be this big of deal. It shocked me," Porter said. "I really don't even know where it came from. Someone said some dude said I committed, but I didn't even talk to that guy."
"My mom thought I was moving to fast. She just wanted to look over stuff, make sure I was making the right decision. Then she wanted to meet the coaches too."
"We visited the campus, talked to all the coaches. After that, she liked what she saw, said she was up for it, said to do it when I was ready to," Porter said. "I committed the day after that. I called coach (Mack) Brown."
"It feels really good. It's a lot of stress off my shoulders," Porter said. "All the pressure is off of me now."
"It's like they want everyone to be the best person they can be on and off the field," Porter said. "They just want everyone to be their best."
"I can bring a lot of stuff. Leadership. I'll do anything they need me to do to help the team win," Porter said. "My strength is really my blocking. That's my biggest strength because the majority of other wide receivers don't block. It's equal to block for a running back or the other wide receivers if I'm not getting the ball, and I want them to do the same for me."
"I'm just working out, trying to get better with my routes. My commitment is solid, really solid."

“He (Stacey Searels) said to me, ‘Connor, do you want to be a Longhorn?’ ” Lanfear recalled. “I said, yes sir, yes I do. And he said, ‘All right. We’ll be talking pretty soon.’ The whole time, I was trying to contain myself.”
“They like how I work and that I’m a nasty player, but a nice guy off the field,” Lanfear said. “I can turn off the aggression and be well-mannered off the field. I finish blocks and I’m a nasty player, and I think that’s what put me ahead in his book.”
“The thing with the commitment is, this is the start of a whole new era for me,” Lanfear said. “It’s not the end. Just because I committed doesn’t mean I’ll quit working. I’m planning on working even harder now, so that when the time comes that I’m playing for Texas, I’ll be ready.”
“He’s exactly what you’d want all football players to be,” LaHue said. “He’s a gentleman off the field, a team-first guy. But when you put him on the field, he’s a competitor. He gets after it. He’s got a little mean streak in him.”
“The night before Texas camp, I remember praying,” Lanfear said. “I said, ‘I want this so bad, I’ve worked for it, and ever since I was a little kid I’ve wanted it my entire life.’ I had that feeling in my gut that something good might happen. And sure enough, that offer came.”
“It’s so far in the future, but I’ve played that scenario through my head multiple times already,” Lanfear said. “The first time in the locker room, seeing my name and picture on one of the lockers. Getting assigned my number. The first day I run out of the tunnel onto the field in burnt orange, seeing everyone holding up the horns."
"It’s just going to be such a great moment. I can’t wait, I really can’t.”

“I don't have any expectations going in,” Springs said. “I'm going let them (Texas) give it their last shot. They told me that no matter what they were going to go down swinging until the end, so I'm going to give them a shot.”
“He's (Duane Akina) the biggest factor as to why Texas has been under consideration,” Springs said. “He's a great person and a great coach. His body of work speaks for itself. He's a father figure and you see why his players respect him because you can go to him for anything.”
“Until it's over you can't be biased towards one school,” Springs said. “You have to listen others, especially when it's a school you're considering.”
“It was exactly what Coach (John) Neal told me,”He said all of the Oregon haters were blowing it out of proportion. They didn't think they were going to get in serious trouble and they didn't."
“That was the only thing holding back Oregon,” he added. “If they really got in trouble I was going to have to rethink things.”
“That's what I wanted to do. I wanted to do it over Twitter or have it be on a national stage,” he said. “I was going to do it on ESPN regardless (he's playing the Under Armour game in January. The Opening is perfect.”

2015 OL Patrick Vahe. He's not a twin, just some app he was using on his phone:

It will be something to keep an eye on if Wyatt continues to pursue JUCO WR D'haquille Williams.

Quotes from the Foreman twins after committing to Texas (24/7):
"I just felt like it was best decision for both of us," D'Onta said. "We get to continue to play together and keep pushing each other. We can back each other up on bad days."
"All of our life the only thing we've known is to play together. Now we get that chance at the next level and we're very excited. We all felt comfortable there. I love it, my brother loves it and my entire family loves Texas. It's the place for us."
"I made the decision in my head a long time ago that Texas was right for me. I knew it was where I wanted to be," Armanti said. "I considered Texas A&M quite a bit and they went hand in hand, but I like Texas a lot more."
"The reasons for picking the Longhorns were just a lot stronger. I compared both programs and knew that Texas was the better choice of the two. It's where I want to be."
"I knew within a week after I went to their camp that Texas was the place," D'Onta said. "I love Texas."
"I felt like it was the best offer for me. It's close to home and I felt like it was, without a doubt, the best place to go and play," D'Onta said. "Our parents can come see us play all the time, too. My entire family loves the Texas program and it's just an opportunity I couldn't pass up."

Update on DE Victor Evans of Dallas Skyline (HornsNation):
“They (Ole Miss and Texas) are both places where I can fit into the scheme of the defense,” Evans said. “They are places where the coaches are real cool. I can come and play. They are both places that I can have a good education at. They both have my major.”
“Education is real important to the whole decision,” he said. “I want to major in sports science. That is kind of the basics of becoming a trainer and that is kind of what I want to do if football doesn’t work out for me. I want to be a trainer for a college or NFL team.”
“I know that Robert Nkemdiche plays the same position as me,” Evans said of the nation’s No. 1 player in 2013, who signed with Ole Miss. “I’m going to end up playing more linebacker than DE, or I would be a stand-up DE on the opposite side of him.”
“Texas is more hand-in-the-dirt DE, which is something I am better at than the other things,” he said. “It is something that is easier to understand and that’s what I like about how they want to bring me in.”
“Honestly it is a pretty cool thing that they (Ole Miss) are getting top high school players,” he said. “But at the end of the day it doesn’t really mean anything if you have all of those high school players and you don’t make a difference. It’s good that they are getting it but I would go for my own personal reasons.”
“One doesn’t have the edge right now because I haven’t visited Ole Miss,” he said. “Once I do then I’ll pretty much make my decision. But if I had to say right now, Texas has the edge over Ole Miss.”

2015 RB Rodney Anderson of Katy talks more about his unofficial visit to Texas a few weeks ago (HornsNation):
“I came and had lunch with coach Mack Brown, and it was really good,” Anderson said. “We talked about the school, and it was really nice. Coach [Larry] Porter had lunch with us, too. I like him a lot. He’s really good at connecting with you. We talked about the campus and what all they have to offer, what their plans were for the upcoming year, stuff like that.”
“I thought that was pretty cool to be offered by Texas,” he said. “I was a Texas fan growing up. I had a couple teams growing up, really, but they were one of them.”
“Everything was great. It was top-notch stuff,” Anderson said. “It was really cool to see everything. I like their campus and how their coaches treat their players. I’m excited to see more of their coaches.”
“It’s really early for me, so I’m just waiting to look at more schools before I make my decision,” Anderson said.
“I mean, everyone has told me it’s a strong 2015 class for running backs,” he said. “I need to take my choice slowly and make sure I pick the right school.”
