A blast from the past..welcome back, Billfromlaketravis!
Yeah, Quinn and family are LSU fans but it seems he's doing his due diligence with the recruiting process. He had
a serious interest with Aggy/Kingsbury but with him now at Tech the mutual interest has seemed to fade.
Baylor is killing us with WR recruiting as Zamora committed to Briles and Co. last night. K.D. seems like he'll be following the same
path soon, so Siverand seems like our best shot of the WR's mentioned.
The Horns need to step up with a big season on the field to stop the bleeding we're seeing with recruiting in 2014 and beyond.
Hook 'em!!

I'm not saying one is right and the other is wrong, but just want the board to know that 24/7 says Texas is still the clear leader for Thomas so there is another perspective out there. We shall see what happens. Hopefully he camps at UT in a few weeks.

Kevin Dillman is very interesting to me, since he's originally from Sweden. He is one of a few scandinavian players who are really shining in HS football, especially in the class of '15. But Dillman and Rosen were the one's that really made an impression on me. I don't understand why 24/7 labels Dillman as a "pro-style" quarterback. He's a QB, WR, S and kick-returner.
That's pretty cool on Dillman. I read where his father was a foreign exchange student at the same high school 20 years ago.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/highschool/03/05/kevin.dillman.recruiting/index.html
Here's a quote from Dillman's coach (Inside Texas):
“He’s a badass. He can do anything out on the field. Hell, Clemson offered him today as an athlete. He’s returned kickoffs for touchdowns. He’ll knock your d*** in the dirt too. He could play linebacker.”
Keep in mind that the film I posted on Dillman is his freshman highlights.

Quotes from 2015 QB Kyle Kearns of Pleasanton, CA (HornsNation):
“He (Major Applewhite) came through and was really impressed with what I did,” Kearns said. “I threw for him during our PE period. He said he was really impressed with my anticipation on my throws and my arm strength, my footwork and just all the stuff they really look for in their quarterbacks.”
“A Texas offer would mean the world to me,” Kearns said. “That’s been my goal ever since I was 6 or 7 -- I wanted to play big-time college football. It doesn’t get any bigger than Austin, Texas, where their program is the centerpiece a big football state.”
“It’s kind of a unique situation with Texas going outside of Texas and venturing off to California for a quarterback,” he said.
“Coach Applewhite showing a lot of interest right off the bat. If he’s flying out to California and watching me throw during school, that shows me he’s interested,” Kearns said. “You’re not going to hop on a plane to go watch some average guy throw or waste your time watching someone you doesn’t care about.”
“I’m looking forward to going to Austin and seeing the overall campus, seeing how the coaches work, what the facilities look like and starting a relationship with the coaches,” he said.
“If it’s the right fit, if they offer me, if the situation is right and if I think it’s a perfect fit, I will definitely commit,” Kearns said. “The timetable doesn’t really matter to me. I’m going to visit the college before I commit to it. If it’s the right place, I’ll know it’s the right place to go.”

http://247sports.com/Player/Kris-Boyd-19849
http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1577645/#highlights/47575007
“Recruiting for me really picked up after last season,” said Boyd. “I’d say that as of right now, I’m probably hearing from Texas, Baylor and Oklahoma the most. There are others too, but those three are recruiting me the hardest I’d say. I’ve heard more from them than any.”
“Texas told me they want me at defensive back for sure and nowhere else,” he said. “That’s fine by me because that’s where I do best at in my opinion. I feel like that’s where my future is, not at running back.”
“Coach (Duane) Akina told me and my coaches that he’s really impressed with what I do as a corner,” Boyd said. “He and Coach (Stacey) Searels stopped by to watch us workout a couple of weeks ago and he told my coaches that he thinks a lot of me, which was great to hear. To hear a guy like Coach Akina say that about me means a lot.”
“That visit (to the Texas spring game) went great,” said Boyd. “It was a lot of fun and getting to personally meet the coaches and see everything was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.”
“I got to watch Coach Akina up close and see how he coaches up his players, which was something I really liked,” Boyd added. “He’s a real good guy and you can tell he cares about his players. Plus I got to see just how successful they’ve been under him and how many guys he’s put in the NFL, which was a lot. I was really impressed with him and what he’s done. It stood out a lot to me and it made me think quite a bit about my future.”
“He told me when I visited that he really liked me a lot,” said Boyd. “Then, like I said, when he visited he told my coaches the same. He explained to them that he thought I was a really good fit for Texas and he wants me to keep my grades up and wants to see me this summer at a camp and we’ll go from there.”

Quotes from 2015 S Larry Pryor of Sulphur Spring and his head coach (24/7):
“He's a talented young man, a physical young man and he's still figuring out his limits,” Owens said. “With his athleticism and the way he does certain things and to be doing the things he does is impressive.”
“He's a great open field tackler,” Owens said. “When he grabs a guy, it's like he's shooting venom in them. When he hits people they lose their power.”
“The Horns are my leader,” he said. “I would say that right now my top three is Texas, TCU and then Texas A&M. Those are my favorites in that order with Texas leading.”
“I call them quite a bit,” Pryor said. “I call Coach Searels a lot actually and I plan to start talking to Coach Akina more, too. He told my coaches that he's going to come through to watch me practice sometime soon.”
“He's a kid who can handle it (the recruiting attention),” Owens said. “He gets a little frustrated with people calling him so much, and I've done my best to tell him that he doesn't have to talk to everyone. Be nice to everyone, but you don't have to talk to everyone.”
“It doesn't go to his head,” Owens said. “He's excited about it, but [he hasn't lost] his work ethic, his intensity, his drive and he knows that he's here to help us handle our business.”

Update on S Arrion Springs since receiving his Oregon offer (24/7):
“I was having phone issues trying to get in touch with Coach (John) Neal, and when I got him he told me to go on my Facebook page,” Springs said. “When I saw the Facebook message, I just started screaming. All I could tell my mom was, 'It's official.'”
“They (Oregon) have great facilities and Coach Neal is a great coach. We have that bond growing,” Springs said. “Coach (Nick) Aliotti has a great system where his DBs can make plays and thrive there."
“Everyone wants be like Oregon,” he added. “They want to wear the uniforms and look cool. It would be an honor to play for them.”
“I'm going up there to make sure everything is what I thought it was,” Springs said. “The only thing that could change is if things aren't what I expect when I get there.”
“It's (Texas) close to home, so I know everybody would be rooting for me if I went there,” Springs said. “I've been really surprised with Coach Akina. I never really looked into Texas and I didn't realize what a great coach he was and what he'd done. I wouldn't mind playing three or four years for him.”
“Oregon wants me to come in and start out playing nickel and safety and then I'll move to cornerback,” Springs said. “They want to move me around based on how I might matchup with a certain guy in a certain game."
“Coach Akina doesn't really want me as a true safety,” Springs said. “It's kind of the same thing as Oregon. He wants me to kind of roam and play where he needs me. He said he can see me playing a role like Earl Thomas or Nathan Vasher did.”

Quotes from 2015 S Justin Dunning of Whitehouse (24/7):
“I called up Coach Brown and we talked,” said Dunning. “He said that they had been hearing that I was starting to get interest in other schools and with me being the athlete I am, they didn’t want to fall behind.”
“Texas has always been my favorite team growing up,” Dunning said. “To get that offer, it really means a lot to me. It’s special, especially because it’s a school like Texas.”
“I think it’s too early for favorites because there are a lot of schools I like now,” he said. “I want to take my time with my recruitment, so I’m not planning on committing anywhere soon.”

"Yeah, I was speechless because a kid from California never gets an offer from Texas," Lucier-South said via text. "I was freaking out, and he said 'Son, we love your style of game and we love your pass-rushing skills and we want to offer you a scholarship.' It was exciting."
"I know that Texas is a big, high profile football school," responded Lucier-South. "They always have the top talent and I know they had a player go early in the draft this year."

Update on WR Dorian Leonard of Longview (HornsNation). Texas' interest in him may pick up with WR Ishmael Zamora comitting to Baylor this week. Worth noting that Wyatt recruited Longview while he was on the Oklahoma staff:
“I can’t say either one of them is on top. They’re (Oklahoma and Texas) about the same,” Leonard said. “They say the same things, the exact same things: They talk about their offenses, their players in the NFL, all that stuff.”
“Texas is one of my top schools,” Leonard said. “They said I have a chance to play as a freshman and they’ll have a new offense they’re running with three or four receivers on the field at one time, stuff like that. I know they’re highly ranked for their academics, too.”
“I know I’m a big physical receiver, and once I get to college I’m going to get stronger,” Leonard said. “It’s going to get worse for the cornerbacks.”

http://247sports.com/Player/Aaron-Sharp-19741
http://www.hudl.com/athlete/489674/#highlights/34993374
“I’m a diehard fan,” he said. “I still am a Texas fan. My family loves Texas. All my life, I grew up watching Texas.”
“I definitely want to be a quarterback first,” he said. “Coach Wyatt told me they’re still evaluating me and there may be a chance where I could go in there as a quarterback and, if things don’t go well, they could move me. But I’m not looking to go in as just a receiver.”
“It would be a blessing (to receive an offer from Texas). It’s going to be a lifelong dream fulfilled,” Sharp said. “I always dreamed to get that offer. If that happened, I’d have to do some hard thinking about that. It would be a big-time decision.”
“If they bring me as a quarterback at Texas, I’m definitely going to compete and I’ll try to beat them out,” Sharp said. “They said they want me to come in and throw for them, and I’d definitely do that. I have no problem with that, even if they have Jerrod (Heard). We’re pretty cool with each other. You’ve got to compete. That’s what I grew up doing.”

TE Anthony Jones of New Orleans, LA will camp in Austin on June 2nd and he's supposed to travel with OL Joseph Paul, DT Courtney Garnett and CB Jermaine Roberts. He's still waiting on that Texas offer (HornsNation):
“They (Larry Porter and Bruce Chambers) just came by and talked to me for a minute,” he said. “They were just saying how much they want me and stuff and would give me a call soon. They pretty much said they like what they see."
“I’m not too sure. I guess they are looking at someone else or are waiting on a decision from Mack Brown.”
“That’s what I am going to try to do, just compete and try to get an offer from them,” he said.
“I’d have to talk it over with my family (about committing on the spot),” he said.
“I’m pretty much close to a decision,” he said. “I’m just waiting on that one offer.”

“I’ll be going to Texas, Baylor and Texas Tech for sure,” he said. “Hopefully I can go to Texas A&M and TCU, too. We’re also trying to put together a plan to go to Kentucky and maybe another out of state camp, but we don’t know yet for sure.”
“I’m hoping to do really good and show them what exactly I can do out there,” Stidham said. “I’d like to see a little bit more of the school (Texas) then what I did at the spring game too, because I didn’t see much of it. I also want to talk to the coaches some and get to know them. They were busy at the spring game so none of them really talked to me.”
“It would be awesome if they offered,” he said. “They’re one of the biggest schools in the country. To get offered by a school like Texas would be amazing.”
“I’ve thought about it a little bit and decided that if I make it the summer before my senior season, then good, if not, it’s not a big deal,” Stidham explained.

Update on 2015 RB Soso Jamabo of Plano West (OrangeBloods). He says he may make some summer visits with his good friend, 2015 QB Kyler Murray:
"The other day, I talked to Stanford and Oregon for a little bit. I recently got an offer from Texas Tech," Jamabo said of his most recent recruiting developments. "Oregon hasn't offered me since they have a whole lot of process they go through. They let me know not to be discouraged. And I should be talking to Stanford again in the next couple days."
"I think Ohio State will be one of the way out of town visits. They want me to come during June sometime," Jamabo said. "So I'll probably look forward to going there. I think Kyler wants to go so we'll probably go there."
"I don't plan on keeping it wide open for too long," he said. "I want to narrow it down soon, so I can look into those schools where I'll spend my college years. I want to go on a few more visits before I make the cut though."
"I've just always liked Texas. I grew up watching them with my family. I loved watching Vince Young and Colt McCoy play. I've always liked coach Mack Brown," Jamabo said. "As far as where they fit in, when I took my visit there (UT spring game), I really liked it. They're definitely one of the early favorites of schools that have offered me, but I wouldn't make them champion just yet. I'm just going to keep looking other schools."
"I definitely want to get a lot stronger than last year, get a lot tougher in finishing my runs," Jamabo said. "That and working on my agility, making guys miss. In the open field, I want to be able to make the safety miss."
"I hurt it (shoulder) in our last playoff game of the season. I hurt some ligaments, broke a bone in there," Jamabo said. "They repaired it, and I should be back in about a month now. I got it out of sling about three weeks ago so I'm pretty far ahead of where I should be."

Quotes from 2015 DE Keisean Lucier-South of Orange, CA after receiving his Texas offer last week (HornsNation):
“I was at school taking a final and my coach told me that Texas was going to come by,” Lucier-South said. “They told me that coach Mack Brown wanted to talk to me. I spoke to him and he said he wanted to offer me a scholarship. I was surprised that he offered me a scholarship. That was a big honor.”
“[Brown] wanted to offer me because he wants me to help them win another national championship,” he said. “They are one of the schools at the top of my lists.”
“I’ve known about Texas my whole life,” he said. “I know that they win a lot of national titles and have all the top players.”
“To me it’s a big honor because I know Texas doesn’t go out of Texas to get players from California because they don’t have to,” he said. “It’s a big honor for me.”
“I’m a high-profile player that really loves the game of football,” he said. “I am a really good pass-rusher.”
“Texas is at the top of the list right now because it is a high-profile school,” he said. “They are up there with Oregon and UCLA.”

According to HornsNation, 2015 QB Ricky Town of St. Bonaventure HS in Ventura, CA will be attending UT's overnight camp from June 11th to the 13th. A few things to keep in mind:
-Town is currently ranked as the top QB in the 2015 class and the #3 overall prospect in the nation according to 24/7.
-the overnight camp he's attending is the same camp that both Swoopes (2011) and Heard (2012) participated in before ultimately being offered by Texas and committing.
-he attends the same high school that TE Blaine Irby did, so Texas has recruited this particular school a few times.
-Town is supposed to bring a few teammates with him, including TE Bryce Dixon is who is rated as the #2 TE in the country for the 2014 class by 24/7.

Quotes from 2015 QB Ricky Town on his upcoming trip to Austin (HornsNation):
“I think it’s (Texas) a great program so it’s something I wanted to pursue,” Town said. “They asked me to go to their camp, so I definitely want to keep building that relationship.”
“I was really surprised. Growing up I was a huge Texas fan, but I’d always heard that Texas doesn’t really take California kids,” Town said. “Just to see him (Major Applewhite) in California was a good surprise. I was really exited about that. I really liked his personality. I can tell he really takes his job seriously and he was really cool.”
“He (Applewhite) said he was really excited and he likes me, and he’d like to see me at their camp,” Town said. “So I’m going down there to check it out, check out the campus and what it’s like down there.”
“Bryce (Dixon) is awesome,” Town said. “I love throwing it to him. He’s a big target. Texas should definitely pursue Bryce.”
“I’m definitely a pro-style quarterback. That’s not to say I can’t run, because I believe I can play in any offense,” Town said. “I can make any throw from the pocket. I think I’m a very dynamic quarterback.”
“I want to see if I can see myself there,” Town said. “I want to see if I could live there for the next three or four years of my life. It’s definitely something I want to look at to make sure I’m comfortable there. If it’s a good fit, I’d absolutely consider them.”
“I want to prove I’m the best and that I can show off my skills and show why they (Texas) need me,” he said.

Update on S John Bonney of Houston Lamar (24/7):
“Right now, I’m just playing it by ear,” Bonney said. “I’m trying to feel everything out, and see where my head is at. I plan to go to some places this summer because I want to commit before the season begins."
“I want to go see some West Coast schools – Stanford and UCLA. Maybe Ohio State too. I have been to all the in-state schools, so I think I need to go see what out of state schools have to offer.”
“Baylor was one of the first to offer me, and they are still on me hard. I talk to Coach Buckles and Coach Norwood.”
“Academics, scheme, the chance to play early and campus life are going to be big for me,” he said.
“I think I have the ability to play cornerback as well as safety. Or play safety, and also be able to cover man in the slot. The ability to do that within a scheme will be important for me,” he said.

“They didn’t talk about an offer or anything like that yet,” he said. “Honestly though, I just think it's an extremely high honor for them to show interest in me. I'm excited about the opportunity to go down there and show them what I can do.”

Lots of RB names to keep up with, but RB Trevyon Hughes of Carrollton Hebron (transfer from Waxahachie) is a guy Texas is starting to show more interest in (24/7):

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/499674/#highlights/36536373
“For the most part Iowa, Arkansas and Kansas were recruiting me the hardest,” said Hughes. “But recently I’ve been beginning to hear a lot from Texas. They’ve sent me a ton of letters in the mail lately and they’ve told my coaches that they really like me and want to see more of me. I haven’t had a chance to speak to them yet, but I’m hoping to very soon.”
“I am definitely interested in Texas,” Hughes said. “I'm interested in them a lot. I really, really like them. I mean I wouldn’t mind going to Iowa, they’re a good school in a good conference, but man, Texas, that’s even better. That’s way better and a big deal for sure. I would love to go there to the University of Texas."
“There’s no doubt that they would be my favorite if they do start recruiting me hard,” he added. “I guess they kind of already are really. If they offered it wouldn’t take me long to jump on that at all. Even if they just invited me down to talk to me, I’d be there in a heartbeat.”

LB Andrew Beck of Tampa, FL excited to return to Austin this weekend (OrangeBloods):
"It feels great, feels awesome. Going into spring, I could focus on playing football. A couple other guys, multiple offer guys, see the stressed they can be because they have to balance working with college coaches, worry how they do. It's a little easier for me," Beck said. "I've only got guy that I have to worry about impressing and I can focus on playing football."
"You just go out and play. Hopefully he (Manny Diaz) saw what it was he recruited me for, what he saw on film," Beck said. "I just try to go out and do what I usually do."
"Really, when I committed - and it's still engrained in the back of my mind - it was the people there. I managed to go to couple in-state places, I made it out to Stanford. It's how you're going to feel when you're not at home," Beck said. "You're going to be away from family, they won't be able to see as much. You want to feel at home, and that's how I felt."
"I was always a Texas fan growing up, especially when I lived there. When schools come in, they ask (Weiner) if I'm going to stay at Texas. He has a picture he shows them of me and Mack Brown when I was at camp when I was six years old," Beck said. "He shows them that and that pretty much ends it. I'm happy with where I'm going."
"I'm going down on June 2 for the camp. I fly down on Saturday, leave on Sunday night and will be back at school on Monday. I'm just excited to go back," Beck said. "I loved it when I was there. I get to go back, now that I'm committed, and have different conversations with the coaches. Now it will be as a player. The recruiting side was awesome, but I'm ready to see the other side of it, how they coach."

Update on LB/S Edwin Freeman of Arlington Bowie (24/7):
“Texas is still my number one,” said Freeman. “It’s Texas, TCU then Texas A&M in that order. Those are my three favorites.”
“One of the big reasons that Texas is out there in the front is because of Coach (Duane) Akina and him recruiting me as a safety still,” Freeman said. “Texas A&M and TCU both are recruiting me as a linebacker, which is fine, but I prefer safety. LSU hasn’t told me which they want me at yet though."
“But Texas, they told me I will start out at safety and if it doesn’t work out, then I can move. The others aren’t saying that. Plus, Texas has Coach Akina.”
“Them being the team I always liked helps them a lot too,” said Freeman. “I’ve always been a Texas fan no matter what. That’s another reason I have them as my favorite now.”
“LSU offered me two or three weeks ago,” Freeman said. “One of their coaches came by and talked to me, then he told me I had an offer. They’re a program I’m interested in. I like their defensive style of play and that they’re in the SEC. They’re a good team.”
“I plan to make my decision after I visit LSU,” Freeman said. “I don’t know exactly when I’m going to yet, but it should be here pretty soon. I want to make a decision by this summer, so I know it will happen before too long.”

DT Courtney Garnett speaks on solidifying his commitment to Texas (OrangeBloods):
"It was (a soft commitment) at one point but things changed. They wanted me to take my ACT," Garnett said. "The week I committed, I did it that same weekend. I got scores back so it's good now."
"That's a relief. I try to tell the young guys to keep their grades up, that's the most important thing. They can't ever take that away from you."
"Everything is still good. I think I'm going up for the camp next weekend. I don't know if I'm going to work out, I'm just going back up to talk to the coaches and things like that," Garnett said. "I may work out. I don't know yet."
"I talked to coach Bo (on Saturday). He asked me if I was coming up for the camp," Garnett said. "We talk very often. We stay in touch. He just makes sure to see how I'm doing. The conversations are usually pretty brief. He came and saw me in spring practice not too long ago too."
"That's (relationship with Bo Davis) what solidified the commitment. Just being able to build a relationship like that, so fast, that's what wanted to make me commit," Garnett said. "I think he's a great coach, one of the best on the college level and NFL level. I think I'm going to get a lot from him."
"I always try to keep myself safe in the recruiting process. I try to keep my relationships good with all the coaches," Garnett said. "I tell them and they know I'm committed, but I just try to keep myself safe with a balanced relationship with all the coaches."

“It would be exciting, probably emotional (to receive a Texas offer),” Boyd said. “I wouldn’t try to show it, but I’d be happy. I would be overwhelmed. I probably would commit. Right now, I’m just waiting.”
“Being there (at UT) with the coaches and players was pretty cool,” Boyd said. “I saw the trophies and got to pick up the Heisman. That was pretty heavy. The coaches talked about Curtis (Brown) a little bit, about what he was good at.”
“I like myself as a corner, but as of now I’ll do anything it takes for my team,” he said. “I want to be different. I knew everyone would compare me to Curtis. I don’t really like the comparisons, but I do look up to him.”

2015 QB Chason Virgil of West Mesquite talks about a potential offer and camping at Texas on June 9th (24/7):
“It's not really heavy right now,” Virgil said. “Everything's perfect. I'm picking up offers and ending the spring with a few offers I wanted has been great.”
“I'll go there and toss the ball around and chill with Coach Applewhite,” Virgil said. “Texas has a great system. I got a chance to see them practice a little bit and I like the way they do things. Texas is a great school.”
“They (Texas) said if I come to the camp they'll offer me, but obviously that depends on how well I throw the ball,” Virgil said. “I just like that Coach Applewhite gets a chance to evaluate me more and put me in situations where he can see what I do.”
“It's like RGIII said – no pressure, no diamonds,” Virgil said. “You have to live for pressure. In a big-time game, where you've got the ball with a minute left and you're down, that's not pressure. That's what you live for as a quarterback.”
“If you want to win games that's what has to happen,” Virgil said. “I feel like I can fit in just about anywhere and make it work. I know for the schools looking for a mobile quarterback I can go in and fit what they do.”
“Depending on how the summer goes I could see myself committing by the end of the summer,” Virgil said. “Right now, the set time I have is after my junior season.”

Quotes from DE/LB Sione Teuhema and 2015 OL Maea Teuhema after committing to Texas (OrangeBloods):
"Two weeks ago," responded Sione about when the decision was made. "I was sitting in my room playing the guitar and piano, and he (Maea) came into my room and said, 'I think we should go to Texas.' And I was like, 'alright.' That was pretty much it."
"I was in my room thinking about LSU and some of the football players over there said they see their family like once a year," said the No. 14 prospect in the 2015 LSR 100. "And I said 'I don't think I could do that.' Texas was the right choice."
"Oh, yeah. I can't leave my mom and dad," said older brother Sione, a 2014 defensive linemen. "That (playing together in college) was a done deal."
"They're really happy," stated Sione. "My dad and mom liked Texas when we went there and they kept on begging us: 'Please go to Texas.' We kept on telling them LSU to make them sad, to play around. [When] we told them Texas they were really excited."
"I'm really excited for that," Maea said. "I thought we were going to be separated in college."
"He was really excited," Sione said about Giles. "I guess he was sleeping or something. He was in a hotel by himself after going to like San Antonio or something. And I told him and he said he started jumping around in his hotel room and he was going to call his wife and kids and say we have a new member of the Texas family."
"I have no idea," he responded about playing guard or tackle. "I'll just play anywhere."

"As soon as I got into athletics period, my DB coach said he wanted to talk to me. I was on the phone with coach (Oscar) Giles before I knew it," Siverand said. "After the conversation with coach Giles, coach (Mack) Brown was on the phone. He offered me right there. It was pretty exciting. I was just excited from them on."
"I'm back down to earth, but I was really excited. It's really mind blowing," Siverand said. "I had no intentions of getting that offer, but I had always been praying throughout the night, just to make my mom and dad proud. To get that offer, I'm very excited about that."
"They've already watched my film. They already know I can play football. I really want to show them at the camp that their offer is worth it," Siverand said.
"Right now, I just want to sit down and talk to my parents, have them make that decision along with me. I try to be really respectful to my dad, and he was telling me that this decision is solely up to me," Siverand said. "So when it comes to signing day or before signing day, I'll let people know then. But I'm not ready to make that decision yet."

Quick update on QB/ATH Aaron Sharp after receiving his Texas offer (OrangeBloods):
"I know a lot about Texas. They have big-time fans. I know pretty much all the coaches, what type of system they run. I know how things run down there. I just want to see what they're talking about. They have me as an athlete, so I want to come down and talk to coach Applewhite, see what he thinks," Sharp said.
"In a couple weeks I should start narrowing schools down," Sharp said. "I'll take some visits in the summer and hopefully commit before my senior season starts."
"I really don't know yet. I will have to talk to coach Brown, coach Applewhite, coach Wyatt, see what they're thinking, what their thoughts are about me," Sharp said. "I'll definitely know where they stand as far as putting my schools together after Sunday, after I talk to them."

Yep. That one seems to be a matter of time. My only concern is that would give Texas three guards for 2015.
I don't think Teuhema's ideal postiion is going to be tackle unless Searels (or whoever) is forced to put him there.

Also from HornsNation, JUCO WR D'haquille Williams is supposed to make an official visit to Texas at some point this summer (likely July):
“I haven’t told nobody my favorite five yet, but I’ll tell you: It’s LSU, Texas, Texas A&M, Auburn and Oklahoma State,” Williams said.
“I’ve got a visit coming up soon to go to Texas,” he said. “They’re setting that up right now. It’ll be an official visit to the University of Texas and it’ll be this summer. I’m looking forward to checking out Texas.”
“I’ve been loving that program since I was young, since Jamaal Charles and Mike Griffin and Aaron Ross were there,” Williams said. “I know a lot about their program. They’ve got that spread and they’re going to throw that thing, but they’re an all-around team. I like that. And you know Mack Brown, he just wants to win.”
“What made me decommit from LSU? So many superstars on one team,” Williams said. “You can’t have too many superstars on one team and expect all of them to produce and all of them to be on the field at one time."
“I saw it myself by looking at their recruiting and the number of four-star and five-star receivers they’ve got. I’m not coming there to ride the bench. I’m not that type of person. I’m a playmaker.”
“I like a winning school. That’s what I want to be part of. I don’t want to be part of a losing school,” Williams said. “I don’t care how good you think you are, I don’t want to be 2-10. It’s about this season and whoever throws the ball the most. At the end of the season, I’m going to look at whoever threw that ball the most.”

You never know what's going to happen at these summer camps and we may see a guy or two get offered that we haven't heard of before, but the following names are the ones I'd put on "offer watch" after working out for the coaches tomorrow (assuming they show up):
2014
RB, Royce Caldwell, Columbus
WR, Raelon Singleton, Crosby
TE, Anthony Jones, Edna Karr (New Orleans, LA)
OL, Andrew Bluiett, Beaumont West Brook
OL/DL, Mason Denley, Columbus
DT, Trae Gardner, San Antonio Roosevelt
S, Mookie Carlile, Stephenville
2015
QB, Kyle Kearns, Foothill (Pleasanton, CA)
QB, Jarrett Stidham, Stephenville
WR, James Proche, Dallas Prime Prep Academy
OL, Joshua Jones, Fort Bend Bush
DT, Du'Vonta Lampkin, Cypress Falls
DE, Breylin Mitchell, Round Rock
S, Jaylon Lane, San Angelo Central
-Caldwell is short and slight at 5-7/165, but he's blazing fast. He doesn't have any offers at this time and a lot of that has to do with him missing his junior year due to injury. Giles told his coaching staff during the spring eval period that if he could run around a 4.4 at the Texas summer camp, he's probably pick up an offer. The chances of that happening have already increased because RB Larenzo Stewart of Klein Oak says he won't be in town at all. He's definitely an all-purpose guy, not an every down back, so he'd be a nice complement to Catalon in this class.
-Singleton is currently committed to Utah and is coming off of shoulder surgery, but he's supposed to work out tomorrow. He has nice size at 6-4 and good speed but I don't know that he's high enough on the WR board for Texas to offer with so many offers out to other prospects. Keep in mind QB/ATH Aaron Sharp was just offered at WR so you have to take that into consideration. Sharp could pull the trigger this weekend if he likes what the staff has to say even though he does want a shot at QB.
-A. Jones is a guy Texas has been flirting with since February and everyone has been wondering what the staff is waiting on since he's maintained that UT is the offer he's always wanted. He didn't play a lot for Edna Karr last season so I think it's a matter of Texas wanting to do an in-person evaluation before making any moves since they don't have a lot of film to go off of. I expect Applewhite/Porter/Chambers to like what they see tomorrow and officially offer unless they want to wait a few days to watch TE Bryce Dixon of Ventura, CA when he rolls into town.
-I believe Denley has the best shot at an offer tomorrow. I think the staff knows TE/OL/DL Koda Martin of Manvel is probably going to A&M, so he could be "Plan B" if they want that big athlete. I think Searels likes him at tackle because he's 6-5 with long arms but he could project to the defensive line or even a jumbo TE. He's steadily getting more attention as the year goes on.
-Bluiett is the younger brother of current Texas DE Caleb Bluiett. Unless UT likes him on the defensive line, I do not expect this one to go down because he projects to guard and Texas needs tackles. However, he is a big-time powerlifter with great strength so a lot will depend on his performance tomorrow.
-Gardner is best friends with S Arrion Springs and accompanied him to Austin on his recent unofficial visit. This is another one I don't see happening unless Diaz/Davis like his size, technique and quickness.
-Carlile is definitely lower on the DB recruiting board but he could be a pleasant surprise at camp much like S Erik Huhn was last year. We know he loves contact and will knock you out, but Akina wants to see his speed and if he can cover. Texas is his favorite school.
-I don't see Applewhite offering another 2015 QB at least until both summer camps have concluded. He wants to make sure he gets this one right and is searching for a guy that is "heady" and can handle an up-tempo offense. He's not necessarily looking for a guy that is a dual-threat. Kearns is a highly ranked prospect out of Cali and Stidham has Baylor and Tech offers without having played a down of varsity football as a QB. They're both legit options but 2015 QB Ricky Town arrives at UT in two weeks and he's the #1 sophomore QB in the nation.
-J. Jones projects to tackle at 6-7 but he's light in the britches right now. This will be a good opportunity for Searles to see his technique, footwook and body potential in person and get a good idea of what he'll look like in the future. An offer would be based off of potential at this point but UT could pull the trigger if they feel it will help them establish a relationship and get a jump on his recruitment.
-Lampkin and Mitchell are two guys I think are on the cusp of receiving offers. Both love UT; specifically Mitchell. They are also cases of the staff wanting to see them up close before making any premature decisions.
-Admittedly I don't know much about Proche and Lane other than what I've seen on film. Random reports I've read on both make them seem as if they are prospects that deserve serious evaluations. We'll see what happens and what kind of reviews they receive once camp ends.

24/7 continues to say he's not getting into school, so I don't know how bad his grades are.

“Loved it,” a source close to Adams said on how he felt about the visit. “Absolutely loved it.”
“I'm in a group text with those guys (Jerrod Heard and Lorenzo Joe) pretty much every day,” Adams said. “They're always trying to get me to go to Texas. We have a lot of fun with it.”
“I've got a top-five, maybe a top-three already in my mind,” Adams said. “I'm keeping it to myself right now because I just want to enjoy the process and take my visits. But in my mind, I already know who those top schools are going to be.”
“In my opinion, it's Texas, and then [Texas] A&M and Florida,” the source said. “[A&M and Florida] you can probably switch them out, but I feel like Texas is on top.”

"I showed them that I can come back after the adversity of an ACL injury," Caldwell said. "It felt good coming out here, seeing all the UT coaches. It just felt good. There was a lot of speed and agility out here today."
"I like Texas. They like to pound the rock but they just changed their offense to up-tempo and I kind of like that kind of offense. I feel like I can get into space, play some slot receiver," Caldwell said.
"It would be a big offer," Caldwell said when asked what his thoughts would be if Texas extended an offer. "My family is big UT fans. I might keep it in the family tradition. I would lean towards jumping at it."

Update on DE Victor Evans of Dallas Skyline (HornsNation):
“That was basically the point for me today, to show everybody at the school who I am,” Evans said. “Coach [Oscar] Giles came to one of my practices and he knows first-hand, and he’s tried to tell the other coaches. I think the other coaches were iffy on me. So I said, OK, I’m going to come in here and I’m going to show you.”
“When I call him (Oscar Giles), he always presses me like, ‘We need to go ahead and get this tied together. We need to get married, become a family and all that,' " Evans said. “I’m just taking it in. Everybody seems to know who I am now. I wasn’t expecting that type of love as a three-star. I know I can play like a five-star, because stars don’t matter.”
“Right now, it’s kind of even until I take my visits,” Evans said. “I mean, I’d say Texas is in the lead because I haven’t visited Michigan State yet. If I visit Michigan State and there ain't nothing up there, then I’ll become a Longhorn.”

I was expecting them both to sit out at least the non-conference games, but accountability isn't a big deal at Texas.

I think they have pretty good options in that regard with Kenny Hill and Kyle Allen though.
Manziel is a special kind of dual threat though as well. 75% of his runs are just improvised. Not many QBs have that kind of skill, even if they are fast and agile.

Well, we knew there was a chance a prospect we never heard of would be offered after camp...and it happened. Texas has offered OL Zach Ledwik of La Grange, per 24/7. Quotes from Ledwik and his coach:
http://247sports.com/Player/Zachary-Ledwik-31031
“Yesterday I went to their one day camp, which was a good experience and it went well,” Ledwik said. “Then earlier today I got in contact with them and they extended me a scholarship. I didn’t commit, but I was excited about the offer from Texas.”
“I talked to Coach (Stacy) Searels and Coach (Mack) Brown about it over the phone,” he added. “They were excited about what they saw from the camp and also what they saw on film from me.”
“He’s probably the most special kid I’ve ever been around,” Kates said. “There’s not a negative about him."
"Every single offensive line coach that has stopped in to see him immediately offered after seeing him this spring. Coach Searels at Texas saw him for the first time on Sunday and offered today on Monday, which I figured would happen. He’s just that good.”
“I’m just trying to take all this recruiting in with an open mind,” Ledwik said. “I’m still working on a favorites list. Right now I’m open to everyone that is interested in me. I just want a program that is established and that develops their players well. Strong academics are a must too.”
“When it comes to the Longhorns, I know that Coach Searels is a really good offensive line coach,” he said. “They have a good, strong football program that definitely interests me.”

Quotes from 2015 TE Jordan Davis after attending the Texas summer camp (24/7):
“It went really good,” said Davis of the visit. “In my opinion I felt like I was the best tight end there, especially with me being the youngest. I had one drop the whole time we did 1-on-1s, so that’s pretty good.”
“It gave me a chance to see how a Texas practice would go,” he said. “To me that was really good. Plus we did NFL-type combine drills so that was helpful to me.”
“It definitely raised Texas in my favorites,” said Davis. “Coach (Bruce) Chambers sat down with my mom and I on Saturday and showed us the different ways they use their tight ends. They also showed me more of their new up-tempo offense, which was good for me because that’s what I’m used to. It was just a really good experience I really has me keeping my eyes on Texas.”
“I’m still committed to Florida State, so they’re still my number one,” he added. “After them it’s basically Texas A&M and Texas right there and then Oklahoma.”
“I’m going to be watching them (Texas) closely,” Davis said. “This season I really want to watch and see if they use their tight ends more now in the new offense, especially as far as passing goes. I’m also anxious to visit for a game, so I can get a good feel for their atmosphere. If they keep on, they’ll keep being a program I really consider strongly.”
Definitely not saying it was a dumb move or anything, just surprised me. Hill is going to be a stud, imo.

-a new name to remember is 2015 WR John Humphrey, Jr. of League City Clear Falls. Supposedly ran well in the 40 and had a great session in 1-on-1s. No mention of when an offer might come along but he definitely has the attention of the staff.

-Texas' newest offer, OL Zach Ledwik of La Grange, will camp at A&M this weekend and is expected to be offered by the Ags. Stanford may also make their way into his recruitment.
-Applewhite and the staff supposedly told QB/ATH Aaron Sharp after Sunday's camp that they intend on taking only one QB for the 2014 class. If Sharp wants to move forward with Texas, it will have to be as an ATH with a focus on WR.
-it sounds like DE Victor Evans of Dallas Skyline will be the next commitment. He and his mother really enjoyed their time on campus.

“That felt pretty good,” Ledwik said. “I mean, Texas is Texas. To get an offer from them really meant something.”
“I liked the competition,” Ledwik said. “That was the one thing I was happy about during the (Texas) camp. I could tell who the better players were.”
“Coach Searles, to me, seems like a tough love offensive line coach,” Ledwik said. “He’s on you in practice and you better be doing things right, but he seemed like he’d be nice and cordial on a regular day. Coach Brown was real nice and cordial. I didn’t talk to him too long, but he was excited and said he wants to see me as a Longhorn.”

“Texas made a great impression. It’s awesome,” Kearns said. “I feel like there would always be something to do here, and I could see myself living here for four years. Even the stadium right here is enough of an impression to last a long time. It’s at such a higher level, from my point of view, than anything I’ve seen in California.”
“They’re saying they are going to wait until the camps are finished and Applewhite was really impressed with me,” Kearns said. “They said I had a great camp, and to be fair to all the other guys they’re going to wait until the camps are over.”
“They said for quarterback it’s a long process, and they’re not going to rush because they’ve been in trouble in the past with QBs,” Kearns said. “They need to make the right decision.”
“I took away a lot, and it was nice to hang around the coaches, see the players and get a feel for the overall place,” Kearns said. “I wouldn’t have known about any of this stuff. I would’ve only known the coaches over the phone. I think I’ll be back here shortly.”

“Me and my mom just got done talking with Coach Sumlin,” Siverand told GigEm247’s Taylor Hamm last night. “We just sat down and talked and I told Coach Sumlin I really wanted to be an Aggie.”
“He said if this is a good fit for you then you can go ahead and make that decision but it doesn’t have to be now because everything is lining up for me to go there,” Siverand said.
“I want to be an engineer and they have one of the best engineering schools in the nation. Actually, I think it’s the best. As far as sports wise, its in the SEC. I’m an SEC player. Everything is lining up. I haven’t made a decision yet but I just want to wait a little longer."
“I think I’m going to call Coach (Jeff) Banks and Coach (David) Beaty tomorrow and ask if I can come back soon and visit the campus again,” he said last night. “I might make my decision then. It might be immediate, it might be down the road, I don’t know yet.”

Quotes from the head coach of ATH Tyler Luatua (24/7):
“His offer came this morning,” said Moschetti. “Basically what happened was that Coach (Major) Applewhite texted me telling me to tell Tyler to call him as soon as possible because they were going to offer. So I put them in touch with him and, from what I understand, they talked and the conversation couldn’t have gone much better.”
“Tyler and his parents were both very excited,” he said. “They were fired up about it really. He was very excited about the offer and conversation he had with Coach Applewhite. He had a very big smile on his face once he got off the phone with them and he was very grateful for the offer.”
“Honestly people outside the southwest don’t realize California kids are excited about Texas,” said Moschetti. “Out here, when we think of Texas, we think of dominating performances at the Rose Bowl. When the kids hear the name Texas, they get very excited. We think of Vince Young and his magical performances against Michigan and USC less than ten years ago. We think of Colt McCoy and Texas starting to put it on Alabama before he got hurt, then them almost coming back and winning it anyway. The Texas name carries a lot of weight out here and all these kids genuinely get excited to find out that the Longhorns are recruiting them.”
“Tyler has nothing but respect for Texas,” Moschetti said. “He knows a lot about Texas football and the University of Texas itself. He knows that they’re a great academic school, but at the same time realizes how much of a football tradition they have and how well they’ve always done. Texas is powerful.”
“It’s very possible he gets down there soon for either an unofficial or official visit,” said Moschetti. “He has official visits planned to Notre Dame and Alabama, with a possible official visit to Ohio State that is in the works. He wants to see other schools though and is very excited about Texas, so I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he says ‘coach I’m visiting Texas’ very soon.”

-ATH Nick Harvey says he's still considering an official visit to Texas in the fall, but he's comfortable with A&M at the moment.
-DT/DE Solomon Thomas has plans to see Notre Dame and Ohio State next week.

S Jamal Adams talks about his trip to Austin last weekend (24/7). He had lunch with Quandre Diggs after the camp ended:
“They're great guys and great coaches,” Adams said. “They're both family guys and my family loves them. They love to compete and I'm a competitor myself. We connected right off the bat.”
“Family,” Adams said. “It makes you feel at home.”
“I've got a top-five, maybe a top-three already in my mind,” Adams said. “I'm keeping it to myself right now because I just want to enjoy the process and take my visits. But in my mind, I already know who those top schools are going to be."
“Texas,” he added, “is up there. They're up there.”
“Texas is back on the rise,” Adams said. “I think they're going to be back where they should be, and that's as one of the top programs in the country.”
“I want to see how I fit into the scheme and the program (at Florida),” Adams said. “I'm not going to base it off of that my godfather (Joker Phillips) is there. He could leave any time. I'm just going to base it off of how I like it and how I feel.”
“A family feel, the best fit and the right opportunity for me (is what I'm looking for),” Adams said.

Update on 2015 OL Patrick Vahe of Euless Trinity who will be in Austin this weekend (HornsNation):
“They’re (Sione and Maea Teuhema) my family. I feel proud of them,” Vahe said. “Hearing about that just made me happy, because I know they’re pursuing their dreams of what they want to do. Now I’ve been getting messages from them lately about how it would be deadly if all three of us went to Texas.”
“Honestly, we grew up together as kids and I’ve always had their back. They’ve always been with me and stuck by my side,” Vahe said. “Playing in college together would be an honor, especially with Maea being a five-star prospect and Sione being really good and fast. It would be unbelievable to play with those guys.”
“I want to go to the Texas camp and prove to them that offering me was not a mistake,” Vahe said.

Texas still hasn't made a move on a TE in the 2014 class, but Applewhite has requested that DE Zach Vaughan of Round Rock McNeil camp on Sunday and work out on offense; something he's never done before (HornsNation):
“I called coach Applewhite early this week and he said, ‘Zach, we really need you to come out to camp,’” Vaughan said. “They watched my film and they think I’m an ideal tight end for them. They asked me to come out to camp, play tight end, catch some balls and show them it’s do-able, and he said they’re probably going to offer.”
“I’ve never really thought about it, honestly,” Vaugahn said of playing tight end in college. “My school has needed me on defense. I guess it wasn’t until I played stand-up linebacker that people could see I can move in space and I’m pretty quick.”
“I’m definitely excited about that (Texas' interest),” he said. “It’s kind of humbling knowing they think I have potential to play position I’ve never played before. That’s pretty special. The fact they have that much faith is pretty neat.”

2015 OL Aaron Garza of Sherman, Texas' first 2015 commitment, is excited to get back down to Austin (HornsNation):
“I want to be able to start in my freshman year, so I want to graduate a semester early from here,” Garza said. “I can have that extra semester to get bigger, faster and stronger.”
“I went to Texas for their spring game and it was pretty nice,” he said. “I was just wishing I could be on the field there in pads. I’m just ready to get there already, ready to suit up.”
“I’m really pumped (about the summer camp),” Garza said. “I’ve always liked to go up against guys older and more advanced than me, because it gives me a feel of what’s out there. I can gauge myself compared to that. It gives me a goal, too.”

For those that will be paying close attention to the camp on Sunday, I found it interesting that 2015 LB Malik Jemison of Dallas Skyline has a Texas offer on his 24/7 profile but the network hasn't reported it (that I know of). For those of us that were around in the Early 80's, the situation between Texas and Aggsy is beginning to remind me of back when the wheels fell off on the program.
I know things are no where near that bad, but Mack really needs to have a huge season not only winning the conference but also making a MNC run or you might just see us in another 10 year spiral, with aggsy dominating the hearts and minds of high school kids.
