S Payton Hendrix, a Red Oak transfer, is slowly getting more attention. Hendrix has five offers so far with Stanford and Nebraska as his biggest, per HornsNation.
Pretty nice film. Too bad Akina wasn't able to attend that practice with Chambers and hopefully he gets up there soon. Hendrix should get a summer camp invite at the very least.

How about LB Coach??
I don't know if this is the answer you're looking for, but Diaz is the only guy who coaches LBs. Texas is currently looking for a defensive recruiting coordinator who keeps everything organized with defensive prospects. This new guy may have coaching/scouting experience, but he won't be a coach.

Some quotes from TE Anthony Jones of New Orleans, LA (HornsNation):
“I love Texas and that’s where I hope to be one day,” Jones said. “That’s my dream school. That’s still my school. I really do like Texas. They haven’t offered me yet so I am just hoping to get the offer. That’s one of my goals is to get that school.”
“I talked to Coach Larry Porter two weeks ago and he was like, ‘I want to let you know that we are still on you high and am going to try to come see me this spring,' " Jones said.
“It’s not true that LSU is my top school,” he said.
“I spoke with Les Miles and saw them (LSU) scrimmage,” Jones said. “It was a great experience. I really enjoyed myself there. I got to hang out with some of the players there, chill, and relax myself. I got to see how the coaches interact with the players.”

Contra Costa CC's head coach gives an update on JUCO OL Desmond Harrison (HornsNation):
“He came up to re-emphasize that and check up on him and eyeball him," Carter said. "[Searels] let him know how important it is for him to finish up strong in the classroom and how they want him done by May. That way, he can get there in the summer and learn the playbook, learn the system so he can compete to play. He’s important to their program.”
“The main thing is, he’s taking a heavy academic load so he can graduate in May,” Carter said. “He’s working out a couple days a week, getting in the weight room, but the biggest focus is academics and getting everything on point. He’s taking night classes and is doing a little bit of everything to finish up and get his degree.”
“He knows he has that type of potential and upside, but he can’t just show up and start at a Division I level without putting work in,” Carter said. “He needs to get there this summer. He’s been really focusing on his classes. We knew that when he signed, but now we’ve got to make sure he’s finished.”

S John Bonney gives an update on his recruitment (HornsNation):
“They’re (Texas) not necessarily the favorite, but they’re definitely at the top of my list,” Bonney said. “I know my dad really likes the situation and my mom likes their academics. It’s a school we’ve been by a lot and my dad really likes them and I do too. My dad likes [Duane] Akina as well. He’s a real good coach and has a great track record.”
“I’ll definitely check with my dad on which schools I’m going to,” he said. “I don’t know what my schedule is going to be like with 7-on-7 and all that. But right now, I don’t know.”
“I feel really good about that (Akina recruiting him so hard),” he said. “I feel like they (Texas) really need me.”
“I’m still going to take some time,” he said. “I don’t feel like I need to make a decision right now. I haven’t got to that point yet.”

Quotes from the head coach of OL Jovan Pruitt of Dallas Bishop Dunne (HornsNation):
“I think they’re (Texas) very interested in him,” Johnson said. “Jovan has transformed his body since the last time he talked to them. He went to their camp last year but was still sloppy in his technique."
“There’s just not a lot of guys his size at 6-6, and he’s up to 290 now. You just don’t see them that athletic. He’s one of the best tackles in this class. That’s not coming from me, that’s coming from coaches we’ve talked to.”
“Once he gets out there (Austin), I do think they’ll extend an offer to him,” Johnson said.

Update on 2015 LB Malik Jefferson (HornsNation):
“Just because I’ve visited Texas and there’s so much more available down there, it would be Texas right now if I did have to commit,” he said.
“They follow the [contact] rules and I understand that, but they did watch me practice a little bit and watched me do power cleans and some shuttle drills,” Jefferson said. “That went good.”
“I love the way he (Manny Diaz) coaches, and even away from football he’s a great life mentor,” Jefferson said. “I know if anything happened, he’d be a great mentor and coach for me.”
“Nope. I’m going to stick to my plan and wait until the time comes (to make a decision),” he said.
“The offers motivate me every day,” he said. “Now I know I’m on a top pedestal and I have to play to a high-level standard if I really want to play college ball.”

More quotes from the guardian of DE/LB Sione Teuhema and 2015 OL Maea Teuhema (24/7):
“We're about 75-percent of the way there,” Taliaferro said. “We know when it's going to happen, we're still figuring out what the best way would be for them to actually announce.”
“Texas is the perfect fit,” Taliaferro said. “When you go down the line, they offer every degree there is to get, so you can major in anything. Secondly, with football they have struggled the last couple of years, but they've got the No. 1 running back in nation in Johnathan Gray, so I'd expect that to change.”
“They (Texas) want to run the ball and with Maea blocking they feel it will help,” Taliaferro said. “They haven't made a commitment to him that he'll start, but they've made a commitment to him that he'll have a chance to play. If you want to go to the NFL, which he does, Texas is one of those schools up there with LSU and Ohio State that turn out more NFL guys than anybody.”
“You look at Brian Orakpo, Henry Melton, Alex Okafor and then Jackson Jeffcoat,” Taliaferro said. “They all were either drafted high or will be drafted high. They've done a good job of letting Sione know he's got a path to the NFL at Texas.”
“It we decide we need to go to Alabama then we'll find a way to make it happen,” Taliaferro said. “If we don't, and they want them, they can call and offer over the phone like everyone else has, or come see them themselves and we'll go from there.”
“They feel at home there, but it's going come down to what they decide for themselves,” Taliaferro said. “My job has been to arm them with the as much information as I can so they can make the best decision possible."
“I'll say this though,” he added, “Texas is the perfect fit for what we're trying to get accomplished.”

Quick quotes from S Arrion Springs of San Antonio Roosevelt (24/7):
“I never thought Texas would be this interested,” Springs said. “With Coach (Duane) Akina, he's such a great coach and he only goes after the best. The fact that he's recruiting me is such a big honor and they've continued to move up my list.”
“Trey (Lealaimatatao) is always in my ear,” Springs said. “We text and talk a lot and he's always telling me I need to go to Texas. Jalen Campbell has been in my ear, too. He's pumped about going to Texas.”

Latest with 2015 S Larry Pryor of Sulphur Springs (24/7):
“Coach (Stacey) Searels stopped by to see me on Thursday,” Pryor told Hookem.com. “He came to watch us workout. I just kind of waved at him because I really can't do much, but I definitely knew he was there.”
“My coaches said one of the main things he talked about was getting me back on campus there in Austin,” Pryor said. “He wanted to know if I could come down in June for something they’re having there. I'll most likely see him there then.”
“He left me with a picture about Texas being the real DBU,” he said. “It had all the info about what they have done and accomplished there at Texas with their defensive backs.”

2015 DT Daylon Mack speaks on his recruitment after being ready to commit to A&M, and then received an Alabama offer (24/7):
“My coach told me that Alabama had expressed a lot of interest in me and they wanted to talk to me,” explained Mack. “So I called up Coach (Billy) Napier and he said that they liked my film and the way that I played and wanted to offer me a scholarship and they did. It means a whole lot to me to have an offer from a top tier school like that.”
“That offer makes my recruitment slow way down,” Mack said. “My parents have been telling me this whole time that I have been rushing things, so I’m just going to slow down and not think about committing anytime soon. I’m just going to take my time and enjoy the entire recruiting process. I just want to enjoy it.”
“Right now Texas A&M is still my number one,” Mack told Hookem.com. “Then I would say its Alabama and Texas as my number two choices for now. Those two are tied for second.”
“I am definitely going to visit Alabama,” said Mack. “I don’t know when yet, but hopefully I can sometime soon. I will visit there, along with Texas and Texas A&M again. I’ll visit all three during the summer.”

More from 2015 WR DaMarkus Lodge of Cedar Hill (24/7):
“I didn’t believe it at first,” said Lodge. “I thought he was joking or something. I figured I might get one later on sometime, but not right then. I was shocked I guess you could say. I was very surprised they offered this early.”
“I like Texas a lot,” he said. “They’re a great school and they always have a lot of success on the field. I could see myself playing there for sure.”
“I can’t deny they’re one of my favorite schools,” explained Lodge. “When Texas looks at you and you’re from the state of Texas, that’s a big deal. When they offer you though, it’s an even bigger deal. You have to really think about that offer and that is what I’m doing. They have given me a lot to consider at this point, so I’m looking very closely at them."
“They’re just a great college with a great tradition,” he added. “I like their offense a lot as well and like what they’re doing as a team. Plus they offer a top education which is important to me,” he added.

That's good new, I have a feeling aggsy will have a less than stellar year with about 3 to 4 losses (Bama, LSU, Ole Miss, and bowl game) for him to slow it down is great for us, but not if Alabama is going to win another championship.

That whole statement was just a bunch of words. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Texas staff told him enough is enough and they just agreed to part ways. I kind of figured it was coming really soon when he used the "lack of transportation" excuse and skipped the spring game right after his visit to Ohio State. I don't see him ending up anywhere other than Alabama or Ohio State after playing the game for several months. I don't think it's a coincidence that Searels went up to Van Alstyne last week to see OL Connor Mayes.

Knox was likely going to be an interior guy for Texas, so it depends on if they'll use the open space to emphasize tackles or if they want to definitely take another guard. If you're looking interior, I like OG/C Connor Mayes the most right now if you're staying within the state.

“With all due respect I’m my own person,” Gresham told Hookem.com via text. “Meech (Demetrius Knox) felt like it was the best choice for him.”
“I’m a Longhorn,” Gresham said. “I’m not going anywhere and I’m solid with my commitment. No more visits.”

Frankly I’m shocked everybody is so supportive of Mack’s ‘no-visit’ policy. To me it just subliminally communicates you are scared your commits are going to find something better. To me I tell top recruits, “hey if you wanna look elsewhere you can b/c we offer the most – but if you do look around we will continue to recruit your position.” That statement shows confidence in your program but also gives them a negative consequence of shopping around.
Reality is Mack’s strategy only works on the kids that aren’t that highly recruited to begin with. So great, you keep the borderline offers but the real blue-chips don’t care and it just irks them that you are afraid you don’t stack up to other schools.
You can’t pretend you hold the cards when you don’t.
I feel it just points light towards Mack’s paranoia about everything in the program must always be construed in a positive light. Remember when Mack would only offer kids he knew would commit? Then he talks about how we have highest % of offers commit? Yeah, well you didn’t offer guys that wouldn’t commit so what does that prove? And why does ratio of commits even matter. Really all that matters is pulling in the best group of players you can round up.

Frankly I’m shocked everybody is so supportive of Mack’s ‘no-visit’ policy.
I'm only a fan of it in cases like Knox and the fact that Mack guarantees your scholarship no matter what. You can't tweet pictures of yourself in another team's jersey while committed; you just can't. If you want to be mature and take visits on the low, that's cool. Knox needed to go and I think the staff had grown tired of his antics. Even some rumors out there he was recruiting for some unnamed schools. As far as Mack's policy being viewed negatively by recruits, there is a lot of anti-UT stuff thrown at them all of the time that all circles back to Texas' inability to win big games. That's the biggest question mark right now about the program.

Update on DE Jarrett Johnson from 24/7. They seem to think there's a possibility both A&M and Texas have pulled back on his recruitment:
“I’m just trying to keep the inside circle as small as possible and have everybody who actually matters know what I am doing and know what I’m thinking,” Johnson said on Monday afternoon. “The outside world right now, it doesn’t matter at the moment."
“I’m trying to give Texas and (Texas) A&M both equal chances at impressing me,” he said, “so I don’t want to decide too soon and make them feel like – ‘Oh, I’m not worried about you right now because I’m worried about them, so don’t come bother me.’ I’m letting them both have equal chances when it comes to recruiting me."
“[Texas A&M is] still the team to beat. I’ve talked to my parents and, like I said, we’re still waiting to get the word out in the summer but I’m giving UT a chance to come back. I’m just getting to learn more about both schools and I’m going to see what happens.”
“It’s very hard to keep it contained,” he said. “That’s why I don’t feel like waiting but I just respect the decisions of my parents so I’ll just go along with that.”
“The spring game (at A&M) was definitely a big deal,” he said. “They had the largest crowd they’ve ever had for the spring game in history. I liked seeing that support from the fans. The team was more intense than the scrimmage from the weekend before."
“I talked to both coach (Kevin) Sumlin and coach (Terry) Price. They let me know they need a pass rusher. They need someone that can get to the quarterback. I think I could definitely come in – at UT or A&M – and make a difference just because of my speed.”
“I’d say UT is giving me more attention just because I stated that A&M was in the lead,” Johnson said. “Now they’re trying to push a little harder for me. Coach (Oscar) Giles actually came up here last week. He just told me that they need me down there and that coach (Mack) Brown really wants me.”
“It’s really just the fact that they went 11-2 in the SEC their first year,” he said. “That impressed me the most. After that happened they had lots of top recruits come in and they’re all fantastic players and I wouldn’t mind joining that little group.”

Recruiting notes from 24/7...
-Searels actually made it over to Louisiana briefly last week and saw OL Cameron Robinson. UT gave it their best shot there but he will be choosing between Alabama and LSU. Saban seems to have the lead.
-Searels will spend a lot of time in Georgia this week and he should be the lead recruiter on all of the new offers in that state: DT Elisha Shaw, 2015 DE D'Andre Walker and 2015 DE Natrez Patrick. He is also expected to see DE Lorenzo Carter and RB Nick Chubb this week. Porter will join him in the evaluation of Chubb. Both already hold offers from Texas.
-Porter will be in both California and Florida this week to see the following prospects:
RB, Joe Mixon, Freedom (Oakley, CA) **second visit for UT

-Davis will be in Mississippi looking for potential JUCO prospects. One name to file away is JUCO OT Avery Gennesy of East Mississippi CC (same school as DT Brandon Moore). Texas has not offered yet but it's a possibility.
-Wyatt will be in the Houston area today to see 2015 WR Kemah Siverand and he could be offered. He was in Mount Pleasant yesterday to see 2015 WR KD Cannon.

We all know it's a matter of when and not if for Daniel Gresham's decommittment. Just a simple glance at his twitter will show that he is obsessed with Ole Mi$$. So when he does commit, expect him to go there. Honestly though I wouldn't be surprised if he and Knox both end up at tOSU though, despite the crap they tell the media.

Quotes from DE Andrew Williams of McDonough, GA (OrangeBloods):
"They (Texas) said were coming to visit me during my track meet this Saturday. Coach Giles is coming," Williams said. "My coach talked to him (on Monday) and then I had the opportunity to talk to him a little bit."
"We talked about a visit coming up, about it being one of my potential visits that I would love to take this summer."
"At this point, I don't have an official top 10. But the visit this summer, it will decide if I'm really, truly interested in them," Williams said. "I want them in my top group, but I want to see everything they've got first."
"None of the past recruits at our school had a Texas offer, and we've had some pretty big recruits," Williams said. "That definitely speaks volumes that they came at me so early, so that has to factor in."
"I followed Brian Orakpo all through his college career. That's what drew me to Texas, that's what got me excited when they had an interest in me," Williams said. "All their D-ends aren't that big when they come there, but when they leave they're monsters. That's always amazed me. And Brian Orakpo is one of the best defensive ends in the NFL right now."

“It was a nice experience to go down to Austin and see how it was,” Jamabo said. “My family enjoyed it and meeting all of the coaches was awesome.”
“Yes, I definitely did,” Jamabo said. “All of the pictures I took – there were some beautiful pictures with the cheerleaders. And the locker room, and of the coaches, and me in my jersey. It was just awesome overall.”

“It was good (the trip to Austin),” Warren said. “It was a spring game. Nothing too exciting but I thought the offense looked really explosive.”
“I'm getting to know the coaches better,” Warren said. “I can say that the relationship is evolving. It'll just take some time for that relationship to get better, but when I've been down there and I've talked to the coaches it's been good.”

lol your avatar reminded me to check blake gideon's wiki page...brutal haha.
"On November 8, 2008 Blake Gideon dropped a guaranteed interception versus the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the 4th quarter. The Longhorns were the #1 team in the country while Texas Tech was ranked 7th. With 8 seconds left in the game, and Texas winning by a score of 33-32, Graham Harrell's pass was deflected in the air and slowly fell into Blake Gideon's arms and immediately dropped the would be game ending interception. Graham Harrell then threw a TD pass to Michael Crabtree to win the game and ruin the Longhorn's chances of going to the National Championship game."
that's all it says under college career for the most part :lol

Quotes from the father of WR Armanti Foreman and RB D'Onta Foreman of Texas City (24/7):
“We’ve been to Texas a lot lately. I mean a lot. More than any other school actually,” Mr. Foreman said. “So if we don’t head there anytime soon it’s not because he doesn’t like Texas and it’s not meant to be disrespectful to the coaches. We’ve probably seen everything there is to see. We’ve done it all there multiple times, so we want to get a feel for the other places that the boys haven’t visited. It’s no disrespect at all. Armanti and D’Onta just would like to feel out the other schools, too.”
“Honestly I’m not sure if Texas really likes D’Onta like some other schools do,” he said. “That’s fine if they don’t. I don’t believe they’re that interested in him, but that’s ok. I don’t want them to offer D’Onta, whether it is a regular offer or grayshirt offer, if they’re doing it just to get Armanti and D’Onta is part of a package type deal. I want him to go where he’s truly wanted and so does he.”
“The odds of them wanting to play together are 100-percent,” Mr. Foreman said. “The odds of them actually getting to do so are more like 70/30. A 70-percent chance of not doing so, and that’s fine. Sure, they'd like to play together, but they’ve come to the realization that it may not happen how they want."
“As for me, I’d love for my sons to play together, but if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen,” he added. “We’ll just have to see how everything works out for them, but they just want what’s best for each other and I feel the same."

“It sounds like a great place and I’m ready to see it, but it will be a while before that happens,” Anderson said. “I’m trying to find out more information on them before I head down to Austin.”
“I haven’t had a chance to speak with them (Jackson Jeffcoat and Bryce Cottrell) just yet, but I plan on it,” Anderson said. “I’m going to talk to Bryce real soon and see why he chose Texas over the school he was originally committed to (Oregon). I’d like to talk to both of them about it.”
“Soso (Jamabo) has told me about how fun it was down there,” Anderson said. “He told me about the players and coaches, along with how nice the facilities are.”
“We think it would definitely be cool to play together,” Anderson said. “At the same time, though, we realize that we each have to make the decision based on what’s best for us individually.”

Quotes from 2015 WR Kemah Siverand of Cypress Ridge (24/7):
"Texas stopped by my school on Tuesday," Siverand said. "They talked to my coaches and had a lot of positive things to say. They really, really like my skill as a player."
"From what I understand, there's a good chance it (an offer) could happen," Siverand said. "The Texas coach told my coach that they will make a decision very soon regarding that."
“I’m looking forward to our conversation though,” Siverand said. “I’ve tried to get a hold of him (Mack Brown), but we have not connected yet. I’m hoping he has some great news for me or that the coaches that come next week have some great news for me.”
“Texas is a great place to be,” he said. “When I went there in March (for the Texas Relays), I was very, very impressed. That trip stood out a lot to me. It opened my eyes to a lot of things and I could really see myself playing there and being a Longhorn. I really liked the coaches, the players, facilities and campus. Like I said, it’s a good place. I wouldn’t mind playing for them at all.”

And probably the last quotes we'll see from OL Demetrius Knox (24/7):
“For me, they (Texas) are completely out of it,” he said. “I’m not interested in them now. I won’t visit there anymore or be considering them anymore. I will always have love for Texas though.”
“Since this all happened everyone has been hitting me up like crazy,” Knox said. “Everyone is hitting me up. I have one ear on my recruiting and the other is on my studies and workouts. But I’m open to everyone. I’m wide open. There are no favorites and no top schools. I have no visits planned or anything. I’m just going to take it slow.”
“I’m trying to see everywhere,” he said. “I’ll narrow it down whenever it feels right. I’m not trying to rush anything. I’ll take my officials and then go from there. I want to check out different schools and their coaching staffs, their city and lifestyle. That’s what it will come down to for me. That and if I feel like the team is on the right track to win a national championship.”

“I didn’t have any idea that they were looking at me,” he said. “I was told Texas never comes this way to look for kids.”
“I know a little about Texas,” he said. “I always watch them. I really watched them this past season and loved the way the defense flew around and made plays.”
“I am really going to take them serious,” he said. “It’s a big program and I know they put guys in the league. I’m really trying to find a place that I can develop my skills and turn into an NFL caliber type of player.”
“I wouldn’t have an issue leaving Miami as long as the college that I go to is a home away from home,” he said. “I don’t want to feel homesick. I also want to be able to get a good education. I want to get a good degree and want my college to be able to help me find a job after college.”

More on TE Mavin Saunders of the Houston Kinkaid School (HornsNation):
“They (Texas) are really interested in me,” Saunders said. “They haven’t offered me. I’m not sure what the conversation with my coach was. But they seem really interested and I hope that can turn into something else.”
“I know Austin, I know people that go there and know it’s a good school,” he said. “All the sports are big-time. It’s always been my top school when they would ask where I would want to go. I’d never tell anyone that until now.”
“A lot of people are asking how interested they are,” he said. “A lot of people know that is the school I want to go to.”
“It’s been crazy. I told someone today, the goal when I went out for football was, you know, I enjoyed the games and wanted to go out for the fun of it,” Saunders said. “I had offers in basketball so if it didn’t work out I could always fall back on basketball."
“Now it is overwhelming. All these coaches are contacting me in many different ways. Now that they can talk to me it is hectic. I appreciate it though. It’s better for it to be like this than not have any interest. It’s been really crazy. My coach told me it was going to get crazy but I don’t know if he was talking this type of crazy. It’s been shocking.”

Quotes from OL Connor Mayes of Van Alstyne (HornsNation). He should camp at UT in June assuming he's not committed at that time:
“A couple coaches came by last week,” Mayes said. “Coach Searels came by and wanted to say hi, and coach [Randy] Clements from Baylor came to watch me work out.”
“Texas is awesome. They have a great program and I love all those coaches there,” he said. “An offer from them would be pretty big. I’d also have to evaluate them again, though, because they’re pretty slow with recruiting me right now.”
“I’ve got a few offers and the Big 12 schools started recruited me pretty hard recently,” he said. “I’m starting to get a couple looks from schools like Auburn and LSU.”
“I know we have family who loves A&M, and Texas is a huge opportunity that’s hard to pass up,” Mayes said.

“Growing up in Texas, I always grew up a fan of Texas football,” he said. “It’s just always been a program that I am interested in. It’s a school that I am interested in visiting and looking more into. We will before the summer or later this summer.”
“When we sit down and talk about it, he’s always told me to go where I feel I am most comfortable,” Bates said. “Growing up in Tennessee there is always that pull to go there. But he tells me not to listen to that and to go where I think I best fit in and will feel comfortable going for the next three to four to five years.”
“Our Saturdays are just crazy,” Bill Bates said. “We have a year off right now. We are going to enjoy it while it lasts.”

"I'm sure we'll get down there soon, but right now I can't make it. I talked to coach (Bruce) Chambers about it. I'll most likely get back down there this summer for one of their camps," Pruitt said.

"I'm not in a hurry. I don't want to rush into any bad decisions. This is a really big decision, so I don't want to make any mistakes," Pruitt said.
"They're definitely high up there, in my top five, top 10. I don't have it numbered out, but I do like Texas," Pruitt said. "They just talk to my coach since they can't talk to us. I know they were out there watching multiple people."
"I'm still wide open right now. I'm waiting for spring to be over before narrowing things down," Barrett said. "On may 24th or 25th I'm probably going to have my top five. I'm letting all the coaches come through first."
"When I talk to them, they just tell me to stay patient with them," Barrett said. "I'm not sure if offer is coming, If it does it does, if it doesn't it doesn't and I'll have to move on. But it's a good program."
"I really want to improve on everything. There's nothing that can't get improvement," Barrett said. "I want our whole offense to get going a little bit more. We have new quarterback, new wide receivers, it's time to get the offense going. We're kind of young on the o-line, so I'm ready to be a leader for those guys."
"I know a lot about Texas because I've been down there multiple times. It's a great program, not far from home," Barrett said. "Coach (Stacy) Searels is a really good coach. It's really family-oriented there. When I went to the junior day met all the coaches' wives."

Akina and Searels saw 2015 S Justin Dunning of Whitehouse this week. Quotes from him (24/7):
“Texas stopped by to check me out at school,” Dunning said. “It was the defensive backs coach, Coach (Duane) Akina and the offensive line coach, Coach (Stacey) Searels.”
“They did give me a camp brochure for this summer,” Dunning said. “Coach Akina told my coach that he really liked what he saw from me yesterday. He said he is going to go back to Texas and tell Coach (Mack) Brown and (Patrick) Suddes that he liked me a lot.”
“They told my coach that I should expect to get a bunch of offers real soon with spring ball starting up,” said Dunning. “They sort of hinted to my coach about offering me down the line. Coach Akina told my coach that they really liked me, (Larry) Pryor and Deionte (Thompson) for defensive backs in 2015.”
“They did discuss other options for me,” he said. “They told my coach that I might be a linebacker if I continue to grow. They also said due to my athleticism, I could easily be a wide receiver at the next level. I’m a football player. I’m going to ball where ever I end up playing. I don’t care where I play, I just want to play.”
“I don’t have any favorites just yet,” explained Dunning. “But I’m looking at Texas Tech quite a bit. They’ve offered me and are recruiting me the hardest. I’m also planning on seeing more of Baylor, Texas A&M, Oklahoma LSU and, of course, Texas.”
“Right now Texas isn’t as high as they used to be, but I still like them. If they did end up offering me, it would probably change things for me.”

Update on 2015 CB Kendall Sheffield of Fort Bend Marshall (24/7):
“Right now Texas, Texas A&M, LSU Oklahoma and Baylor are standing out to me,” Sheffield said. “That’s in no specific order though. I have offers from all five and like them all. They’re all good schools.”
“(Defensive backs) Coach Akina is a great coach. I really like his money wall. He’s put a lot of guys in the NFL while there at Texas and that is exciting. I like that a lot. It stands out to me that they put quality DBs in the league.”
“I like Coach (Marcel) Yates a lot. He actually came to my school yesterday. He and Coach (Clarence) McKinney are both good guys. I really like their facilities (at A&M), too.”
“The main thing I like about them (LSU) is that they’re known for putting defensive backs in the NFL and that they have a great DB coach.”
“Oklahoma is a really good school when it comes to football. Plus I like Coach (Bob) Stoops a lot and think he’s a good coach.”
“They (Baylor) are a program on the rise. They have a good defensive backs coach. I’m looking forward to visiting them this summer to learn more about them.”
“The thing that is most important me when making my decision will be academics,” said Sheffield. “That’s the biggest deal. Besides that, I want a defense that really fits me. I want one that really uses my abilities as a player the best. The other thing is coaching, that’s important as well. I want great coaches.”
“I have no clue when I would like to even make one (a commitment),” he said. “My recruitment will probably play out for a while. I want to be sure of my choice when I make it. I just don’t know when I want to do that.”

2015 S Deionte Thompson of West Orange-Stark reviews his visit to Alabama for their spring game (HornsNation):
"It was great," said Thompson, who competed in the Texas Class 3A Region III track and field championships with his West Orange-Stark teammates over the weekend. "Tony Brown came with me. We talked to a lot of other recruits, two of the other commits from the Class of 2015. We watched the game, saw some stuff where they need to improve on and what they're good at, so it was a great time going out there and having fun."
"There were so many people there," Thompson said. "I went to Texas' spring game and [Alabama's] had twice the people there. It was just a great time, the crowd loved the game, everybody loved it."
"They were just telling me that they can use me in a couple years and that they're going to be low at the safety spot, so I can come right in and get a fair share of playing time," Thompson said.
"Coach [Bo] Davis at Texas has been on me pretty hard," Thompson said. "I talk to him a lot. And Coach [Terry] Price at Texas A&M, he's been hitting me up."
"Texas and Alabama, for sure," Thompson said. "And some other camps hopefully."

“At this point my family and I are trying to make a top 10 so we can shorten down our list,” he said. “I don’t want to prolong any relationships with coaches that I’m not going to visit. It’s going to happen very soon.”
“Oh absolutely, Coach [Stacy] Searels came by on [April 25],” Williams said. “We couldn’t talk very much but it was great seeing him and Coach [Oscar] Giles. They told me, which really surprised me, that I was their No. 1 DE. It didn’t register with me. Texas has a lot of great athletes. Our relationship has grown a lot this year so that was great.”
“Absolutely that is huge,” Williams said. “The fact that they came all the way to Georgia to tell me I was their No. 1 defensive end really speaks volumes. Texas is definitely one of the schools that I want to visit this summer.”
“A school like Texas, what got me interested in them, without knowing anything about the school, was when Coach Giles and Coach Searels put themselves in the school,” Williams said. “That really caught my eye and makes me want to visit them.”

“I sent out my highlight film to Texas in January,” Carlile said. “Then I got an invite to a spring practice in the mail in February. A couple of days before I planned on going to a practice, I messaged Coach (Duane) Akina on Facebook to let him know I was coming. He then told me to call him and he invited to go to their Sophomore/Junior Day.”
“It was awesome,” he said. “Texas has always been my favorite team since I was little, so getting to check everything out and getting to talk with Coach Akina and Coach (Manny) Diaz was really cool.”
“They like to have a good time, but when it’s time to get after it, they are really intense,” Carlile said. “Coach Akina is a great motivator. It always seemed like the defensive backs were having a great time just practicing.”
“Coach Akina said that I’m definitely on his radar,” Carlile said. “He told me that on his trip to Dallas-Fort Worth he’s going to stop by Stephenville and watch me practice. He also invited me to go to the June 2 minicamp this summer, which I plan on attending. Since I went (to junior day), we keep in touch every week or so.”

Quotes from OL Blake Blackmar of Houston Clear Lake (OrangeBloods):
"I guess it was last Tuesday. There was a bunch of coaches there at our practice. The TCU coach was out there. I had gone up there for a visit and he went and talked to my dad," Blackmar said. "When he left all other coaches came over and talked to my dad."
"Coach Porter from Texas talked to my dad for a long time. He invited me to come up and meet with coach (Stacy) Searels. I'm going to cal him tomorrow and he's going to tell me what the schedule is going to be. I'm going to go talk to Searels, meet with them in their office and see what's up."
"I guess talking to my dad, they really want me to come up and meet with coach Searels, kind of re-establish contact," Blackmar said.
"Growing up, I was a huge UT fan. I've got the UT shirts, all that stuff because my dad went there," Blackmar said. "I thought they were the greatest thing on earth. Now that I'm getting into the recruiting process and I've got offers, I've been to other schools and seen things I like. If Texas offered, I wouldn't commit right away. I'd probably stick with my plan and kind of wait, go through spring ball and get into summer and make my decision sometime in the summer."
"Academics are going to be a big topic in my family. I've got three uncles who are all engineers. My dad is an engineer. I have three grandparents who are doctors, two of them went to Harvard. So academics are a big deal in my family," Blackmar said. "But I want to go somewhere we're going to win and compete, and there's a good overall feeling, good fan support."
"I also pay close attention to the weight program because that's someone you're going to spend a ton of time with. And I also pay really close attention to the potential to play early. I like to look at that a lot because I do want to play as much as possible."

A new JUCO name to remember is WR D'haquille Williams of Mississippi Gulf Coast CC. This guy has been talked about for a while but it was unclear if Texas had offered a scholarship, but it's definitely legit at this point. 24/7 has this guy rated at a 100 (out of a possible 100) and certain people think he's so good that he could go straight to the NFL Draft next year instead of signing with a major D1 program. Quotes from the coaches of JUCO WR D'haquille Williams (24/7):
“I believe he’s talked to every school in the country at some point,” Mississippi Gulf Coast assistant coach Pete Bennett said.
”I wouldn’t even know where to begin listing them all off. Texas, LSU, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State are some off the top of my head that have shown recent interest or ones that have offered.”
“Three he has mentioned to me that he likes a lot are Auburn, Southern California and the University of Texas,” Bennett told Hookem.com. “I know a lot of people think that because he’s from Louisiana that he’s a lock to go to LSU, but that’s not the case judging from what he told me. He said that he likes Auburn a lot since they really recruited him first, along with the other two, USC and UT. Those are probably the three he’s mentioned the most consistently to myself.”
“I want to say it was about three or four weeks ago when they (Texas) officially offered,” said Bennett. “I can’t remember when exactly it was, but it was that time frame. They’ve recruited him well recently and have sent a lot of letters. Probably just as much mail as any other program you can imagine. You can see they’ve made a big impression on him in such a short time, especially with him listing Texas in those three schools mentioned.”
“D’haquille wants to go to a place where he feels like play right away,” Bennett said. “He’s a two-for-two (two years to play two) guy, so he doesn’t have a lot to time to sit and figure things out. Honestly, athletically and talent wise, he's it. He’s the type of kid who could stay one year in college and leave for the draft the following year. So getting on the field for him is very important.”
“Basically he’ll look at teams and study their wide receiver depth chart closely,” Bennett said. “He’ll see how he fits in that offense and see where he can get on field as quick as possible in an offensive style he likes. He wants to go to a play where they throw the ball a lot, which is why those three schools he listed are right there for him. Auburn will be airing it out, I know Texas will be this year and USC always does as well. That’s why he likes them. They’re big time programs for a big time receiver.”

A couple of updates from 24/7...
-it sounds like it's now a matter of "when" and not "if" for RB/FB Daniel Gresham to de-commit from Texas. The new question appears to be whether he'll de-commit on his own or if the Texas staff will eventually force his hand. He's apparently not happy about the possibility of being a fullback hybrid and he's uncomfortable with Porter continuing to recruit elite RBs from across the country. Gresham is still talking to other schools as he was before despite saying publicly he's solid to UT.
-the newest 2015 offer went to ATH KeKe Coutee of Lufkin yesterday when Davis was in town visiting. The offer is at WR even though 24/7 thought it was for CB yesterday. Davis also evaluated DT DJ Williams and he'll be camping in Austin this summer. He probably has an offer right now if it weren't for his grades.
-another 2015 name to get familiar with is RB Jay Bradford of Splendora. He's a lesser-known name that seems to be blowing up during the spring evaluation period and he will be in Austin this weekend for the state track meet. He's expected to meet with the staff at some point. See his film below:

Brief update on WR Armanti Foreman who received a USC offer this week (OrangeBloods):
"I really try to go out there and be the same. I try to just be the same person every day at practice," Foreman said.
"I'm just trying to get all the young guys under me right, get them on the same page, on the same level. So when it comes to crunch time, they'll know what needs to be done, so we can go out there and get the goals we're after," Foreman said. "For me, I'm trying to be the best leader I can be, do everything I can to help our team be successful."
"I've never really needed to play defense because we've always had seniors that were ahead of me," Foreman said. "One of our corners that played last year, they moved him to safety. Now I think I'm going to play a lot more corner. I've been wanting to play that anyway. I've been practicing it but I've never really played it that much."
"He (Larry Porter) came down to the school but he really couldn't say too much. Basically, right now I'm trying to see what kind of camps I can get to. I really want to go to a Texas camp, so I'm going to see if I can make it," Foreman said. "I've been going to that one the last two years, so I'll probably be able to make it again."
"Right now, I'm going to probably narrow things down in the fall, sometime after football season. Maybe right after my last game, I'll really start narrowing things down, find out what I want to do," Foreman said.

Quotes from RB Adam Choice of Thomasville, GA (first cousin of former Cowboys RB, Tashard Choice):
"It started about a month ago. They called my coach and then I was told to give them a call. When I called, they told about the offer," Choice said.
"We're just trying to get to know each other. He's recruiting me, so he's trying to sell Texas. We had nice conversations," Choice said. "He's (Larry Porter) a great guy. He's firm, but at the same time he's consistent, he's fair. He's a well spoken man, seems to have great values, and does what he's supposed to do."
"Definitely the education, being able to get a degree from the University of Texas," Choice said when asked what he and Porter talk about on the phone. "And the city of Austin. That and the opportunity to play great football there against great competition."
"I would definitely like to take a visit there. I'm not sure when, just whenever I can get out there," Choice said.
"I would definitely like to narrow things down this summer. I'm not going to make it happen this summer if I'm not ready, but it would be nice."
"Definitely academics. I was told to go where I feel like I fit, where I can see myself being comfortable away from my family," Choice said.
"Being a high school option quarterback, I definitely think I can improve on my throwing. In the long run, I can definitely get stronger, faster, be more agile with the ball, just make more things happen," Choice said. "I would say I'm kind of determined on every play to make the most out of every opportunity. I would say that's my strength."

OrangeBloods reporting Texas may be trying to get in on a 2013 JUCO prospect. DT/DE Rusmin Nikocevic received a call recently from the Texas staff and they're supposed to speak more today after requesting his transcript. He's from Pierce CC in Woodland Hills, CA (same JUCO as TE Beau Sandland).
http://www.hudl.com/athlete/217973/#highlights/26298429
Texas State just offered him as a late 2013 commit, which that in itself gives me concern on whats going on behind the scenes with the current DLine. Hopefully the Texas' interest is short-lived and he lands in San Marcos in June; however, if his transcript is good enough for TXST most likely it's going to be good enough for UT's. We have been able to compete with other larger programs lately in recruiting but our facilities don't hold a candle to UT's.

That's f'in rough. Northwestern was on him really early but that speaks to where UT is at right now. Really wanted that guy to go with Catalon.

Quotes from the recruiting coordinator at Euless Trinity on Texas offering 2015 OL Patrick Vahe (24/7):
“Coach Mack Brown personally called to offer him,” said Trinity recruiting coordinator John Thompson. “I don’t think it was something he was expecting at all, especially with him being so young. But Coach Brown called us to let us know that they wanted to offer Patrick and I’m pretty sure that made him very happy judging by the look on his face when he found out.”
“It’s the University of Texas,” said Thompson. “Anytime Texas offers you, you have to really look at that offer and consider it. Patrick is well aware of the tradition they have and how much they win. He definitely knows what all goes on down there and how successful Texas has been as a program over the years."
“He was very excited about getting that offer, especially with it being his first and being one from a major program,” he added. “I know for sure he’s very intrigued by them.”
“With Texas offering I can only imagine that many schools will follow in their footsteps,” he said. “Everyone has shown a lot of interest in him already, but with him being so young, no one had offered up until yesterday."
“All the Big 12 programs have been very interested in him, especially Oklahoma and Baylor,” he added. “He’s received a lot of attention for sure and, like I said, I only expect that to pick up.”
“It took him a little bit but he found his way for only being a sophomore,” Thompson said. “Honestly he was a little tentative at first. He wasn’t exactly sure about some of the technical things like his feet. He wasn’t sure if he could go out and compete with those guys. But after a few practices the light came on for him."
“Once he figured it out, he realized he’s just as good, if not better, than anyone out on the field,” he added. “He turned into a natural, old school nasty player. He will put a hit on you that you’ll remember. He’s not afraid and he loves contact.”

Update on 2015 ATH KeKe Coutee of Lufkin (HornsNation):
“They’re rivals (Oklahoma and Texas),” he said. “I figured they (Texas) were going to offer me sooner or later.”
“I just loved Texas and I still love them right now,” Coutee said Tuesday night. “It’s my favorite. Texas was my favorite from the start.”
“I just love the coaching staff,” he said. “They’re fun and they’ll do anything to help you out at the University of Texas. It’s a great campus. I loved everything about it.”
“They saw my film and they liked what they saw and they’re offering me,” Coutee said. “It didn’t catch me by surprise. I had a feeling Texas was going to offer me.”
“I haven’t really been thinking about a commitment,” Coutee said. “I’ll probably commit at the beginning of this season or after my junior season. I didn’t think about committing today, but I was pretty excited because I’ve always wanted to go to Texas. I have the opportunity to, now that I have a scholarship offer.”

Latest with LB Otaro Alaka after committing to Texas last month (24/7):
“Making that decision was hard,” Alaka said. “It was close. Very close actually. I’m glad I went with my original choice and made the decision to be a Longhorn. It felt good to get it over with. Since then everything has settled down for me, so that’s very cool. It’s nowhere near as busy as it used to be. I like that part of it a lot.”
“There are still quite a few schools that are recruiting me hard even though they know I’m committed,” said Alaka. “Texas A&M, LSU, UCLA and Ole Miss are probably the ones who try to still recruit me the most.”
“I tell them all that I’m very confident in my decision with picking Texas,” he said. “I’ve told them not to worry about me and that I am completely committed to Texas. I’m 100-percent committed. If they send me messages or try to call or anything like that, I don’t even respond now. I’m not concerned about anyone else.”
“I get to focus on just football now that recruiting is out of the way,” Alaka said. “So my goals are to get bigger, stronger and faster for the season. I really want to improve my tackling and work on my pass rush too. I want to help take my team the furthest possible and be the best player possible.”

Texas continues to pursue OL Joseph Paul of St. Augustine HS in New Orleans, LA (24/7):
“Coach Porter was a little disappointed I committed to Florida,” said Paul. “He really thought I might be going to Texas and I planned on it. But I had a change of heart and liked Florida a lot. He told me that they would still recruit me and be coming after me hard, if I was committed to Florida or not. He said they liked me a lot and wouldn’t stop coming after me.”
“I get a ton of mail from Texas,” he said. “They send it all the time. On top of that I talk to them at least once every two weeks. They are always inviting me down and saying that they could really use me and that I should be a Longhorn.”
“Jermaine (Roberts) still tries to recruit me all the time and I mean all the time,” Paul said. “I’d say he recruits me about as hard as possible for Texas. He’ll really bug you all day about it. I joke with him and tell him he gets on my nerves talking about the Longhorns so much. He’s always saying ‘Come to Texas, come to Texas.’ He really wants me there and he definitely lets you know that.”
“You could say I’m 100-percent to Florida,” said Paul. “Even though I’m committed, they still come after me hard too. They recruit me like I’m still not committed to anyone and I like that. They are always showing me love and I do the same for them. I’m a Gator.”

2015 OL Patrick Vahe of Euless Trinity speaks on his Texas offer (HornsNation):
“Honestly, I took it as a prank,” Vahe said. “I mean, the Texas Longhorns? Me? No, I didn’t see that coming.
“But when I went into my coach’s office, I couldn’t believe it. I mean, it was really happening.”
“My family grew up Texas fans,” Vahe said. “I remember seeing them go all the way [in 2005]. I put it as a goal of mine that one day, if I’m lucky, I’ll get to play there. Now, I can say that a dream could possibly come true.”
“He (Mack Brown) said he was building his offensive line, and he wanted someone big and fast,” Vahe said of Brown. “He said he liked what he saw in me. It gave me butterflies.”
“Speaking with my parents, school is first; there’s nothing above it,” Vahe said. “I’m taking a shot at waiting until my senior year to make a decision. If I let the offers get in the way, it could mean my grades slip. That’s the last thing I want.”

Quotes from RB Adam Choice of Thomasville, GA (HornsNation):
“I actually grew up a Texas fan but I never imagined they would give me an offer,” Choice said.
“In 2004 my favorite team was Oklahoma but they lost the national championship game to USC,” he said. “So I dropped Oklahoma as my favorite team because I was mad at them and from that point USC was the team. Then, the next year, when they made it back to the championship, Texas beat them."
“From that point on I decided Texas was going to be my team. Colt McCoy came through. It just stuck. Now that recruiting started it is still a dream. It’s surreal to me that they would offer after I have been rooting for them for so many years.”
“He (Larry Porter) just said that they had a lot of interest in me, they wanted to offer and hoped I would come down for a visit,” said Choice, who has spent the last two seasons as a starting quarterback. “I am blessed to have an offer from Texas. They have a great program and I am excited they found interest in me to make an offer.”
“I don’t have a preference what conference I play in but having offers from the SEC is an honor,” he said. “I am just grateful for every offer. I can’t complain about anything.”

Quotes from S Arrion Springs (24/7):
“The only way I'm not going to pick Miami or Oregon is if the bowl bans and sanctions are too severe, then I'll see what's out there,” Springs said. “Texas and maybe Oklahoma are the two schools that could change my mind.”
“I actually talked to him (Duane Akina) the night of the [NFL] draft,” Springs said. “He was telling me what he was doing in New York with Kenny [Vaccaro] and basically just telling me that putting DBs in the NFL is what they do."
“It goes with the whole DBU thing and it lets you know that it's something they take great pride in at Texas.”
“They're (Miami) trying to get their program back on the map, and the fact that they want me to help is a big honor,” Springs said. “Coach Williams is my type of coach. I like the way Coach Golden and his staff do things. They're doing it the right way. And you really can't go wrong with a city like Miami.”
“They (Oregon) have top of the line facilities and Coach [John] Neal is a great coach,” Springs said. “He's an underrated coach, but he's very good. I like their playing style on defense and it seems like a nice area to live.”
“If it's too bad could it mess up the chances of me going to either school,” Springs said. “Miami has told me it's been quiet but they're anticipating some kind of probation. Oregon might a two-year probation, or something like that, but they said they want to talk to me more in-depth about that later.”

He mainly just spoke to my coach about me though. From what my coach told me, he asked all kinds of questions about me as a player and student.”
“I actually called Coach Porter later after Coach Diaz left,” Patrick said. “I called to let him know I was for sure interested. That was my first time talking to him and I really liked him. He seemed like a good guy and good coach who knew what he was talking about.”
“Coach Diaz told my coach that now after he’s seen me he’ll be going back to Texas to talk about me to the other coaches,” Patrick said. “He said that he’s going to sit down and talk with Coach (Mack) Brown and Coach Porter. When I talked to Coach Porter on the phone, he basically said the same thing. They’re supposed to discuss offering me and then they will let me know if they will offer or not by next week.”
“They don’t really recruit outside of Texas too often, so with them doing that and knowing that they are looking at me, that is a big deal,” Patrick said. “A very big deal for me anyway. It’s great to know they came all the way out here to check on me, because that doesn’t normally happen with them recruiting Florida.”
“If they offer me, then I plan to take a trip there this summer for a visit,” he said. “I definitely want to check Texas out and see what it’s all about. I would be excited to do that.”
“I watched a lot of them (Texas) growing up actually,” Patrick said. “I always have liked their program and they’ve always caught my eye. They have a good football program and they're just a great school overall. I’ve always liked them and I’m really interested in them.”

ATH Kevin Shorter of Newton talks about his meeting with the Texas staff (24/7). He does not have an offer at this time but could soon with the de-commitment of RB/FB Daniel Gresham. He's high on Arkansas, LSU and Texas A&M and his first cousin signed with Arky last year.
“[Porter] said they're going into this season with three running backs, and they don't like the way the depth chart looks after that,” Shorter said. “He said they want to take two for sure, and they'll try to take three in this class if they can.”
“My coaches didn't want me to stay too long because I had to jump today and we've got the relay on Saturday,” Shorter said. “Coach Porter told me that was fine and just to come back on Saturday whenever I could.”
“They showed me around the facilities and I saw the weight room, the academic center and the dressing rooms,” Shorter said. “It was a nice visit.”
“They said I fit in perfectly with what they want to do on offense,” Shorter said. “They can put in me the backfield, put me the slot – basically move me all over the field to get the ball in my hands in their up-tempo offense.”
“I just want to see how it feels up there (at Arkansas),” Shorter said. “I think it would be a good situation. To go to a good school and to play with your first cousin is a good situation.”
“Things are still good with me and them (LSU),” Shorter said. “I talked to them the other day when Jeremy Hill and Alfred Blue got into trouble. It sounds like there could be a real chance for me to go there and play.”
“It would change my recruiting somewhat (if Texas offered),” Shorter said. “We'll see.”

DE Victor Evans of Dallas Skyline talks about his Texas offer (HornsNation):
“My head coach is down at Austin for the track meet and he talked to the coaches. They told him I had an offer,” Evans said. “I was pretty much overwhelmed by the whole situation. I still am overwhelmed by the whole situation. I’m blessed to have what I have.”
“They like the ability I have at linebacker but they want me more at defensive end,” he said.
“I prefer D-end,” he said. “It just gives me an advantage to get a jump on the edge and disrupt pass and run plays. My quick feet can help cut off gaps for running backs.”
“They saw me in the spring, and Oscar Giles saw me pretty much have a sack against my own teammates on every play,” Evans said.
“Right now I am just wide open,” he said. “I really don’t have a list or rankings of all the colleges. I’ll narrow it down during the season and make my decision by the playoffs.”

Just saying that his contract is up on 2014 but might retire by the end if the football season. Also, if Powers was to go down, Dodds would retire a bit early so Powers could name Dodds successor.

2015 LB Cameron Townsend of Fort Bend Ridge Point ended up making an official visit to Texas this weekend (24/7):
“I actually visited Texas on Saturday,” said Townsend. “I went there for Mother’s Day Weekend to Austin and to also watch my school in the state track meet. So what were originally just those plans, turned into an unofficial visit to UT.”
“It went very well,” Townsend told Horns247. “It went really well actually. They gave me and my parents another private tour of the facilities. We got to interact with some of the other recruits and their families that were there as well. And, of course, we talked a lot of football with the coaches. My parents and I really enjoyed it all and had a great time.”
“Coach Diaz sat down with me and broke down my highlight tape for me right there,” he said. “He told me both the good and the bad of it. He also told me what he thought what I needed to work on the most and how to improve as a player. It was a really good experience.”
“I’m still keeping my options open,” said Townsend. “So far I have offers from Texas, Baylor and Houston, but have no favorites or anything like that. I don’t even know when I might have any to be honest. I’m not sure. I figure that maybe once I get several offers, I’ll start narrowing them down, but right now I’m open to anyone.”

“The coaches have told me that I have to stay at home and hawk it down from the back side,” Roberson said. “I see a lot more cutback runs in practice than I used to. I'm really learning how to play the run this spring.”

More from 2015 OL Patrick Vahe of Euless Trinity (24/7). Turns out he's a cousin of the Teuhema brothers:
“When they told me Texas offered I thought it was a joke,” Vahe said. “I thought the coaches were trying to be funny and I wasn’t laughing."
"But when I knew they were serious, I knew I had to start really preparing, because Texas isn’t a joke. They are all about business so I knew right then I had to start preparing both mentally and physically for my future. I wasn’t expecting it at all. I definitely wasn’t expecting any offer, much less from one of the best like Texas, this early.”
“I like Texas a lot,” he said. “That’s the program I grew up with. I watched all their games and always rooted for them, so them being interested in me is a big deal. Them offering me and me having a chance to play for them is an even bigger deal, but I have to remain humble and not let my head get too big. They are definitely my favorite school. But I need to focus on finishing here at Trinity first, then worrying about playing for Texas.”
“Texas is a great school with a great program,” he said. “I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. They have the best of the best. The campus is really nice from what I’ve seen and the coaches are amazing there. That’s what makes them great. They also have amazing academics. I look forward to learning more about them in the future.”
“I’m going to visit there next month,” Vahe said. “They invited me for a camp, so I’m planning on going down there for that. I think I’ll be going to the first one they have next month on June 2. It will be my first time to be there for football, so I’m really looking forward to it all.”

“From what I understand they offered me over the weekend,” Stevenson said. “But my coach just now let me know and they got all the details. Coach (Bruce) Chambers called my coaches to let them know that Texas really likes me and wants me to come there, so they ended up offering me."
“Coach Chambers told them that they could really use a quick guy like me, especially in their new offense,” Stevenson added. “He says that they want me bad.”
“Before I was really high on Oregon, USC and LSU,” he said. “Don’t get me wrong, I still like those schools, especially Oregon, but I’ve realized that all schools have many great things to offer. I’ve thought about it a lot lately and I know that Texas is just as good, if not better, than any other school out there. They have a lot to offer anyone who loves to play football, so when they do end up offering you, you would be dumb to not seriously look at them. That’s what I’m doing. I like them a lot and it’s a place I could see myself playing.”
“I went down there (to Austin) and it made a strong impression on me you could say,” Stevenson said. “I got to truly see what Texas was made of and how they operated and I have to say I liked it. The coaches there are great people, the facilities are some of the best in the country and the campus is very nice. At first, I didn’t know much about Texas, but after visiting that all changed for me. It opened my eyes to them.”
“Coach Chambers invited me down to their camp this summer,” he said. “I’ll be going to their one they have on June 9. When I called him he said they would love to have me down, so I’m looking forward to getting back down there and finding out more. Plus I’m ready to show them what I’m made of in the camp. I know they already like it, but I want to show them even more.”
“I’m just so blessed to be getting all this attention,” he said. “I want to get a good feel for everything and then go from there. There are a few main programs I really want to check out for myself and see more about. It’s so early for me. I have two seasons of high school ball left, so I’m in no rush at all. I’m just playing it by ear.”

“They (Oregon) have awesome facilities, Coach Neal is a great coach and fun to be around, they put guys in the league and that’s one of my goals,” he said. “It seems like a nice city to live in, great fan support, and there’s stuff you can do outside of football. You can go fishing or, when it’s snowing, you can go skiing. It might take me some time to get into skiing, but there is stuff to do there.”
“I’ve talked to Oregon about the whole scandal going on and Coach Neal cleared it all up,” Springs said. “He just said they’ve been bringing the same thing up for three years now and the NCAA has yet to rule on it. He said they might have a couple scholarships taken away but it really shouldn’t have an impact.”

Update on 2015 S Larry Pryor of Sulphur Springs (HornsNation):
“Texas is probably still my favorite school right now,” Pryor said. “Texas A&M would be behind them because I haven’t been able to visit Tech yet.”
“The (A&M) spring game was pretty fun,” he said. “I got to talk to coach [Kevin] Sumlin a little bit and we took a picture and all that. The actual spring game was fun. It was cool to see that many people came for the game.”
“I’m still keeping up with Coach Searels,” Pryor said. “I like him, he’s pretty cool. He’s always been nice to me.”
“I haven’t thought about doing it (committing) yet. I still want some time on it,” Pryor said. “Probably in the summer is when this really gets going.”

2015 DE Breylin Mitchell of Round Rock wants a Texas offer (HornsNation). Keep his name in mind for the upcoming June summer camp:

“Applewhite was big, because I’m a huge Texas fan. Huge,” Mitchell said. “I’m diehard. I noticed him and once I saw him, I called him that night. That was the craziest thing.”
“He (Applewhite) just said I was doing good but that I need to be more aggressive with my hands,” Mitchell said. “That gave me pointers on how I can get to the next level. I will be at their camp, definitely.”
“I mean, it’s pretty hard to say no (to a Texas offer),” Mitchell said. “It’d be hard to say no to Texas. It’s about 98-percent automatic that I would commit. It’s where I’m from. All my friends like Texas, I like Texas. That’s the thing -- I’m Austin born and raised.”
“I’m trying to get a lot faster,” he said. “I was about a half a step away from about 10 sacks last year. An extra step of speed would get me those sacks and those little tackles I missed.”

Quotes from WR Elton Dyer of South Houston after he visited with the coaching staff at the state track meet last weekend (HornsNation):
“Oh man, it’s a blessing,” Dyer said. “The first coach that came to see me was last week from New Mexico State. I thought that was interesting. Then Boise State came in. Then Kansas. Then next thing you know UT came by. It’s a blessing.”
“They (Texas coaches) took me to the players lounge and told me there were video games in there so just go feel like you are a part of the team,” Dyer said. “I just played video games and then they showed me around the field, the trophies, the weight room. After that we went and played some more games. It was pretty fun.”
“Right now they’d (Texas) be No. 1,” Dyer said. “I would feel like I accomplished my goals if Texas offered.”
“I would like to play both sports (football and basketball),” he said. “I’m not the type of person when one sport is over that I just stop. I like to keep moving so I want to do more with one sport.”

More from 2015 RB Jordan Stevenson of Dallas Skyline after receiving his Texas offer (HornsNation):
“I found out (Texas offered) through my coach. He called me into the office and let me know where I stood with a few schools,” Stevenson said. “He said, 'Well, you know you have an offer from Texas?' And I told him, 'No sir.' So we had a long conversation, and he called Coach [Bruce] Chambers, and we went from there. I was really excited. I’ve been thinking about it lately, and I need to keep progressing. But it’s a good offer.”
“They felt like I was a dynamic back,” Stevenson said. “[Chambers] said he sees a lot of bright things in my future. The best advice he told me was to keep grinding and stay positive, and to not just be an athlete but a scholar-athlete. Don’t be satisfied with good. Be satisfied with great.”
“Texas doesn’t just offer anybody,” Stevenson said. “Therefore it opens up a lot of doors, and a lot of eyes. At times I feel like people were sleeping on me. So I felt like I must be pretty good to get an offer from Texas. I just take it as motivation. I just need to keep doing my research and learning more about Texas.”
“To be honest, it’s going to really take some time,” he said. “I have to look at other schools and keep progressing. I have to take the offer as motivation. Whatever God has in store for me will work out. I know the offers are going to come.”
“Texas is a true contender,” said Stevenson, whose teammate, 2014 defensive end Victor Evans, also has a Texas offer. “They are high on my depth chart right now, along with Oregon, West Virginia, A&M and LSU.”
“To be honest, I’ve had an 'X' on my back,” he said. “Some people don’t understand that being a leader and being great, you are always going to have an 'X' on your back. Somebody is always going to be there to test your manhood, and if you want to be great, you will do whatever it takes to grind to the next level."

RB Racean Thomas of Oxford (Ala.) has picked up an offer from Texas, per HornsNation.
“It’s a good offer,” Thomas said. “They came all the way down from Texas to recruit me and let me know that I had an offer, so that’s a school that I’ll be looking at. I don’t really know much about Texas, but I’m willing to learn. I’ll just try to see what they run offense-wise, try to see what they do with their guys.”

He was the one with the ridiculous touchdown, where he broke something like 9 tackles and made another man miss. It's in his highlights.

A ton of WR names have been thrown around lately, but another to keep in mind is Tee Goree of Carthage. OrangeBloods mentioned that he has been in contact with both Baylor and Texas recently. I can't find any film on him but he had 66 catches for 1,261 yards and 17 TDs last season.

ATH Kevin Shorter of Newton says he definitely has an offer from Texas after meeting with the staff in Austin (HornsNation):

“This spring is getting crazy,” Shorter said. “I’ve got, like, 25 offers now.”
“Coach Porter broke it down for me. They have offered. For sure,” Shorter said. “I’ve been telling people, but they don’t believe me. I’ve got an offer and it feels great.”
“They’re trying to get three in this class,” he said. “Their scheme is really good for me. The backs they have can’t get out and run routes the way I can.”
“They showed me around on Thursday and showed me the weight room, locker room, all that stuff,” Shorter said. “I’ve only visited A&M, LSU and Baylor so far. Texas’ stuff is better. Everything is new. The whole thing impressed me.”
“Coach Porter said I fit good,” Shorter said. “He was mainly talking about how I can get out at receiver and run routes.”
“Probably so (it will come down to A&M and Texas),” Shorter said. “I’ll probably narrow it down during the summer. I’ll do some official visits before deciding.”

Kevin Dillman is very interesting to me, since he's originally from Sweden. He is one of a few scandinavian players who are really shining in HS football, especially in the class of '15. But Dillman and Rosen were the one's that really made an impression on me. I don't understand why 24/7 labels Dillman as a "pro-style" quarterback. He's a QB, WR, S and kick-returner.
But good to see Texas moving out of state if/when they don't like what the state shows them.

I don't like Texas' chances with Quinn. It seems a new LSU connection comes out every week. They might be from Lake Charles, but that's a Bayou Bengal family. A "Shipley" that runs a sub 4.4. Wow.
I'd offer Siverand as K.D. Cannon insurance. Zamora and Sharp have similar skill sets, pick one and roll with it.
