Good news for Tech I think.

24/7 saying they will have access to the Friday night camp.
i haven't paid enough attention to the specifics of the recruits that strong has targeted but can anyone surmise from who he is recruiting on the defensive side of the ball as to whether or not he may be considering a move to the 3-3-5 scheme he used at louisville? may not be a bad scheme to run in the pass happy big XII.

You'd think he'd learn after the incident with Case. Guess stupid is terminal for some.
According to Horns 247- Those worried about heavy-handed suspensions in light of two Longhorn players receiving a paid meal from an agent could be worrying too much, according to John Infante of AthleticScholarships.net (http://www.athleticscholarships.net/2014/07/16/texas-football-players-facing-short-suspension-after-agent-meal.htm)
Infante, who specializes in NCAA rules, particularly those having to do with recruitment and eligibility, states that the penalty for an impermissible benefit received from an agent depends on the value of the benefit, with Infante listing penalties for benefits up to $300.
"Unless this was a very expensive meal, the two Texas football players would likely be facing a one-game suspension, two at the most," Infante wrote. "This would be in addition to repaying the value of the meal."

might have been just a few tech fans on that jury...(although i agree with the content of the letter).

Below are some notes from a new feature that 24/7 is putting out every Friday. A lot of the information is based on what the reporters for that site are hearing behind the scenes, so take it as rumor:
-QB Kai Locksley has secretly eliminated Maryland from his list of finalists, so it's down to FSU and Texas. He's decided that he wants to get away from his father (offensive coordinator at Maryland) and prove his worth elsewhere. Texas could get a "silent" commitment this weekend and he's still scheduled to announce on the day of his first game.
-LSU is supposedly very close to offering 2016 QB Shea Patterson of Shreveport, LA. They already have a commitment from another 2016 QB out of Florida and had no plans to offer Patterson, but that's changed. LSU would be the favorite over Texas if that goes down.
-2016 QB Dillon Sterling-Cole of Spring Westfield is no longer the A&M lean he was once thought to be even though his father played for the Aggies. Word is he currently has Texas, TCU and LSU on top with Baylor and A&M trailing. Sterling-Cole will camp at UT this evening.

Just got home and reviewing everything. Two biggest notes I've seen so far:
-CB Isaac Warren of Tyler John Tyler is getting a lot of love and sounds like he was one of the most impressive defensive recruits tonight. He is supposed to have a conversation with Coach Strong this weekend.

Here's a behind-the-scenes look at what went down at Texas' "Under The Lights" camp on Friday night. (Horns Digest)
One of the most difficult things about attending a camp such as this is you can only watch a few things at a time.
The great thing about a camp such as this is if you know what to look for you can see just about all you need to see.
For me, the most important thing to do is follow Charlie Strong (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7485862). No one person can follow the entire camp and have an accurate overall feel for the camp. It’s simply impossible because you miss so many reps during the one on one portion of the camp.
However, there are about 20-plus staff members working as the eyes and ears for Strong during an event so I decided to follow suit.
I think it’s a toss-up as far as which recruit received the most amount of attention throughout the night. Strong was all over the place watching and talking to these kids. He spent a great deal of time throughout the night with more than a few players, includingHolton Hill (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7036702), Darrion Daniels (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7265530) and 2016 DT Michael Williams (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=3706337).
Strong also spent a great deal of time with Reggie Hemphill (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=6969725)’s mother andKai Locksley (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=6876193)’s father.
Team Participation?
One of the most positive things recruits talked about after the camp was how awesome it was to have so many current Longhorn players out at this event.
Not only were they at the event but they were working with every single position group throughout the entire event. They are starting to buy into what Strong is selling and that is a great sign.
Rain, rain went away
I am not sure of the overall numbers of tonight’s campers but it had to be close to 150 players by the looks of it.
The weather was perfect for a night of football under the lights. For just about all of these players it was the first time they had participated in a camp setting such as this and they were not disappointed in the least prior, during or after the event.
Keeping in touch
I spent time with numerous players throughout the day including 2017 QBShawn Robinson (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7687081), DeShon Elliott (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7345713),Charles Omenihu (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7520728), John Humprhey, Darrion Daniels, Du’Vonta Lampkin, Michael Williams, Zach Gentry (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7049180), Kai Locksley and a few others.
QB Overload
It is very clear that the QB class for 2016 is absolutely loaded.
I have watched all of these kids on film but this was my first time seeing Robinson, Locksley, Gentry, Jalen Hurts (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7504300) and Breenen Wooten in person and they all at some point throughout the event point on a show.
I really like what Gentry brings to the table. He is much bigger in person than you can imagine and is every bit 6-foot-6 right now. He has a big arm, quick feet and is a student of the game.Texas (http://texas.scout.com/) fans should be very happy with the future of the QB position in Austin, Texas.
I have heard different things from people regarding the ability of Locksley. What no one can deny is his athletic ability. As his father, Mike Locksley (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7360728) told me prior to camp, “Kai has not even scratched the surface of his potential.” The relationship between Mike Locksley, Strong and Shawn Watson (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7819382) goes much deeper than people realize.
Coach Watson spent a ton of time with Mr. Locksley after the camp was over and Strong spent just about more time with the elder Locksley than any one person throughout the day. At this point in time I would just about be stunned to see Kai Locksley end up anywhere other than Texas.
I was just as impressed with Locksley and his arm as I was any one thing throughout the entire camp. He shows great movement in the pocket, very quick and athletic feet, quick release and was throwing the ball with great zip and velocity tonight.
Locksley has the potential to be a great player down the road in the right system and with the right coaching staff. The Locksley family does have ties to Florida State (http://floridastate.scout.com/) and the younger Locksley does like the Noles but look out for the Longhorns.
Relationship often times win out in the end and I do not see stronger relations than the ones between the Locksley and Strong family.
Offers?
I do not believe you will see any new offers go out based on recruit’s individual performances.
Packed sidelines
What was not to like about the camp? Things that were out of control of the coaching staff such as more than a few top kids not working out: J.W. Ketchum, Holton Hill, Ryan Newsome (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7045157), Darrion Daniels and Du’Vonta Lampkin to name a few.
Commitments shine
Most impressive overall defensive back today by far was Keivon Ramsey (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7151825).
The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Ramsey showed great versatility, back pedal and is explosive with the ball is in the air. The biggest strength might be his change of direction.
He is underrated by most services but that is a mistake based off what he showed this evening. Very impressive looking defensive back. The defensive coaching staff is thrilled with the way he showed tonight.
Most impressive offensive lineman by far was Texas verbal commitment Patrick Vahe.
The No. 8 overall offensive guard in the country might need to move up some in the rankings. He was that good tonight.
He is not overly impressive as far as straight size goes, but make no mistake about it, when this kid gets his hands on you it’s over. He lost one rep the entire night and that was against Williams, who I thought was very impressive and one of the best players in attendance.
Collin Johnson was also incredibly impressive. He caught everything thrown his way and really seemed to build a strong bond with Gentry.
Rumphing it up
Most intense coach? This one is easily defensive line coach Chris Rumph.
He was REALLY getting after this group throughout the night. He is ONE intense coach and will instill a sense of toughness in this team moving forward it has lacked over the last several years.
I loved the way DB coach Chris Vaughn (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7814444) and DC Vance Bedford (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7831919)worked with each other. They had an incredible energy about themselves and fed off each other throughout the camp and the kids picked up on this early and often and really started to get after it because of the attitude of the coaches.
Stars of tomorrow
Keep an eye on the following 2017 players because these kids will be recruited by everyone in America if they are not already.
These three players, if they continue to develop, could combine for over 90 offers before National Signing Day of their senior season.
QB Shawn Robinson, Guyer (TX)
OL Walker Little, Episcopal (TX)
DL Marvin Wilson (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7941363), Episcopal (TX)
One player who handled himself with tremendous class on and off the field was Williams.
The 2016 standout from All Saints Episcopal (TX) has a tremendous amount of upside and loved every minute of this camp. He is a player to watch out for that will be heavily recruited by Texas coaches moving forward.
Surprise of the night was defensive end Charles Omenihu.
He is long and lean and I was not expecting to see him have success against much bigger players such as OT Toby Weathersby (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=6898280). Not only did Omenihu have success but he won every one on one battle I watched and I was with that group most of the night.
Most physically imposing player on the night was 2016 DT Kendell Jones (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7345734).
Rising sophomores are not supposed to look like that. However, he struggled during the one on one portion. Against very good OL players he needs more than a bit of work from a technical standpoint.
Camp gets an A+
Overall Impression? No question about it I would give Texas an A+ from top to bottom.
This event will grown in size and stature and I promise you on NSD you can look back to this event and you will see the majority of the kids who sign with Texas will have attended this camp.
I look forward to coming back next year.
Saturday I will have one on one conversation with Humphrey, Williams, Daniels and Hill.
Did not know
Standout defensive tackle Du’Vonta Lampkin has a grandfather that attended today’s visit. He has lived in Austin (TX) for just under 30 years. Lampkin's uncle is a diehard Texas fan.
Keeping with my tribute to grandparents I also met the grandfather of Shawn Robinson. His grandfather told me it was his dream to have Shawn go to Texas. The elder Robinson has Charlie Strong as his hero.

Doesn't look like the mystery recruit showed tonight after all of the hype.
24/7 hasn't answered any questions about him, but I'll keep looking.
Blake Munroe of 24/7 said: "He was there. All I can say right now."
It is so imperative that we get this season off to a good start. The media will hype us and get excited about Strong because he is a fresh face on the big time college football scene (as a HC), and this will help with recruits because our 2015 class badly needs help.

"I want to see how I would fit into their schemes and everything. I also want to meet with coach (Charlie) Strong because last night I didn't get the chance. Texas held its first-ever "Under The Lights" night camp inside Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Friday. While the event did not immediately result in new scholarship offers or commitments, we still learned plenty from Charlie Strong's final summer camp of 2014, which featured well more than 100 participants including at least 30 ESPN 300 prospects. Here's what stood out: (ESPN-Texas)
1. Out-of-state commits shine
Zach Gentry (http://m.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/recruit?id=187874) had seen his future teammates on recruiting websites and kept up with them via one long group text message. But Friday's camp provided the ESPN 300 quarterback commit the first real chance for him meet the rest of the class -- and for them to meet him.
The Albuquerque, New Mexico, native flew out for the night camp and lived up to the legends of his startling size -- he's now 6-foot-7 and 237 pounds, and swears he's done growing -- while performing well under Shawn Watson's tutelage.
Gentry gravitated toward two other Texas commits with whom he shares plenty in common as outsiders: 2015 RB Kirk Johnson (http://m.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/) and 2016 WR Collin Johnson. The committed brothers from San Jose, California, made their third trip to Austin and earned rave reviews. Collin, a ESPN Junior 300 prospect, was especially impressive with 6-foot-4 size and major leaping ability.
The Johnson brothers are proud to say they did their part to ensure Gentry joined the class in May, and the trio stays in touch frequently. Surely they'll soon reach out to their newest out-of-state future teammate, Garrett Thomas of Many, Louisiana. The four-star tackle did make it to Austin as well Friday after delivering his commitment last week.
Another out-of-state recruit everyone was watching Friday: four-star QB Kai Locksley. He made his first visit to Austin this weekend and brought along father Mike Locksley, Maryland's offensive coordinator. Locksley showed off a quick release and impressive athleticism. Heck, he might be just as good a receiver at the next level, too.
Strong and Watson dedicated a lot of time to Locksley and his father after the camp wrapped up. It's going to be Texas, Florida State or Maryland in the end, and Locksley said he wants to make his decision soon.
2. Young linemen didn't disappoint
By the end of the night, most of the recruits who were getting significant buzz for their performances were underclassmen defensive linemen.
Fort Worth (Texas) All Saints defensive tackle Mike Williams, an ESPN Junior 300 prospect, was one of the breakout stars of the night and got plenty of attention from the coaching staff afterward. As usual, massive DT Kendell Jones of Killeen (Texas) Shoemaker was a star. The 6-5, 310-pound big man ranked No. 36 in the ESPN Junior 300 has visited Texas at least three times this year, including two camp trips.
Another player we'll all be talking about a year or two from now was Houston Episcopal's Marvin Wilson. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound defensive tackle, a 2017 prospect, said after the camp the Longhorns are his early No. 1 school ahead of TCU, Ohio State and Texas A&M. Texas also got one of the state's best at camp in Houston Westfield DT Edward Oliver. He'll be as coveted as any in-state defensive lineman in the 2016 class.
3. Brown an exciting project
New defensive line coach Chris Rumph had to be just as excited about what he saw from the defensive ends, particularly ESPN 300 athlete Louis Brown and Texas three-star commitCharles Omenihu (http://m.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/recruit?id=189022).
Brown, a former Baylor commit capable of playing defensive line, linebacker or tight end, shined in 1-on-1 work as a speed-rushing end. In fact, on back-to-back reps, he easily got past one of the camp's best linemen, coveted 2016 tackle J.P. Urquidez. For a kid from a small Class 2A school (Burton) who isn't used to big-time competition, Brown was unfazed.
Omenihu has been bulking up and received plenty of pointers during the camp from preseason All-Big 12 end Cedric Reed (http://m.espn.go.com/ncf/playercard?playerId=511286). It was clear throughout the night that Omenihu and Brown have a good bond. Brown will be a project early on in college, especially in the weight room at 6-5 and 210 pounds, but there's big potential. It's probably a safe bet he ends up choosing the Longhorns.
4. Commitments coming soon?
In addition to Brown, we'll give you three more recruits who might be on commitment watch in the not-too-distant future.
Three-star center Tyler Moore (Houston/North Shore) already has his offer and was back at camp. He and his father had an extended conversation with Joe Wickline afterward, but no pledge. Four-star defensive tackle Du'Vonta Lampkin (http://m.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/recruit?id=180501) (Houston/Cy Falls) visited Texas before the night camp and left with some news: He's announcing his decision on Sept. 15 and it's down to Texas, Oklahoma and LSU. The former OU pledge has repeatedly said the Longhorns are in the lead.
And keep an eye on WR Ryan Newsome. The ESPN 300 speedster from Aledo, Texas, came down to Austin for a full academic tour on Friday and spent time catching up with close buddy Jerrod Heard. He's not looking to decide until December after five official visits (Texas, Oklahoma, UCLA, Oregon, Tennessee) but admitted he'll be back for several Texas games in the fall, including his official for Baylor-Texas on Oct. 4.
5. The guys on the sideline
The campers who showed up but did not compete on Friday night were truly just as critical.
ESPN 300 cornerbacks Holton Hill and Kris Boyd spent much of the night together watching on the field along with four-star ATH J.W. Ketchum (http://m.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/recruit?id=178982). They spent a lot of time with Texas freshman safety John Bonney, who played with Hill last year at Houston Lamar.
Boyd and his brother, 2016 LB Demarco Boyd, visited Baylor on Friday morning and then made the trip down to Austin. Demarco is seen as potentially the key to Kris' decision, and Texas has wisely been recruiting the younger Boyd for a while now.
Texas also hosted the No. 2 recruit in the state for 2016, safety Deontay Anderson, along with a large group of his teammates at Manvel (Texas) High School. Two more big names on the sidelines: Four-star DT Darrion Daniels and ESPN 300 WR John Humphrey Jr., the former Baylor pledge who hopes to earn a UT offer soon.

Update on 2015 DT Darrion Daniels of Bishop Dunne in Dallas, TX. (Horns Digest)
The No 14 ranked defensive tackle checks in from Dallas (TX) Bishop Dunne. The 6-foot-4, 275-pound standout is one of the most heavily recruited players regardless of position in the class of 2015. Daniels was not participating in the camp Friday night but was able to soak in the experience.
Darrion Daniels (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7265530) holds offers fromArizona State (http://arizonastate.scout.com/), Arkansas (http://arkansas.scout.com/), Baylor (http://baylor.scout.com/),California (http://california.scout.com/), Colorado (http://colorado.scout.com/), Iowa (http://iowa.scout.com/),Louisville (http://louisville.scout.com/), LSU (http://louisianastate.scout.com/), Miami (http://miami.scout.com/), Notre Dame (http://notredame.scout.com/), Ohio State (http://ohiostate.scout.com/), Oklahoma (http://oklahoma.scout.com/), TCU (http://tcu.scout.com/),Texas Tech (http://texastech.scout.com/) and Texas (http://texas.scout.com/) to name a few. The defensive line recruits in attendance stole the show on the night as it was a great group overall. Defensive line coach Chris Rumph (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7810705) is one of the most intense, in your face coach you will find and that is exactly what Daniels is looking for. Daniels talked about the overall experience.
"First off, seeing how coach Rumph had his own defensive linemen out here coaching and showing the other players how to do things was cool," Daniels said. "They are coming together and they are determined to teach the players how to do it the right way. I was talking to one player, and he was saying since the new staff has been here everything has been increasing a tremendous amount, and everything is going well."
Spending time with current players is something Daniels feels is a very important piece of the recruiting process. He is looking forward to coming back to Texas and spending more time with the players.
"It helps me out trying to get a feel for the coaches and getting some inside information," Daniels said.
Coach Rumph is a high energy, high motor, very intense in your face coach that is going to get the best of your abilities. Those are the characteristics Daniels is looking for in a coach.
"That's the kind of coaching I like," Daniels said. "I like having a coach in your face, always yelling at you. My dad always says if the coach isn't talking to you that means you are doing something wrong so if the coach is in your face he sees something inside of you he is trying to get out."
Bishop Dunne will hold a media day soon, and Daniels will name his top ten and soon after the top five. His goal is to be committed by December.

Update on 2015 DB Holton Hill. (Horns Digest)
Holton Hill is the No 15 ranked cornerback prospect in America. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound four-star standout made an unofficial visit to Texas and walked away more than impressed.
Holton Hill (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7036702) was not able to workout Friday night, but that did not takeaway from his overall experience. He was seen numerous times talking with head coach Charlie Strong (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7485862). Hill made the trip up with athlete J.W. Ketchum (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=6606487) and is glad he did.
"It was an amazing experience," Hill said. "I had a good time and it was amazing. I had a chance to get around and talk to the coaches, and I enjoyed myself."
Charlie Strong was evaluating as many recruits as possible but made more than a few special trips to spend quality time with the lockdown corner. It's that kind of one on one attention that caught Hills eye.
"That makes me feel good about myself and them as a whole," Hill said. "It makes me think they feel highly of me which is a good thing when I look into a school. Getting around the coaches, its always good to get around the coaches and hear what they have to say about you," Hill said. "There were so many wonderful things they had to say and they want me to be a Longhorn."
Coach Chris Vaughn (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7814444) could be his future position coach. Coach Vaughn is very energetic and passionate about coaching and the game of football.
"That's what I like to see," Hill said. "The coaches getting fired up because that's what I build off of, that intensity, and that's what I like to see, and I enjoyed it. It was amazing."
Where does Texas (http://texas.scout.com/) stand for the speedy cornerback?
"Honestly, I can tell you I am not sure, but I can tell you that Texas is in my top five," Hill said.
Hill talked about his game and what makes him a high-level recruit.
"Man on man, very physical, I like to stand in the receivers face the entire game." Hill said. "I am very explosive and I like to harass the receivers all night long."

Quotes from ATH Louis Brown after committing to Texas (OrangeBloods):
"I'm not going to lie. At first, I didn't like Texas that much," said Brown. "Last year I went to a game against Oklahoma State. They had like over 100 recruits from classes. That's not even necessary to be honest. You don't get to talk to any of the coaches or anyone. 'Not really interested' is the vibe they gave me."
"When I went for the junior day, I gave them a second chance. Me and coach Strong and coach (Chris) Rumph have been talking. He's (Strong) a really down to earth person. He's going to make you laugh and just be honest with you. He just said, 'Man, you're a good player and I want to offer you.' Since then, we've been talking non-stop. They told me about the pros of Texas and how I could play defensive end."
"Yes sir," responded Brown when asked if the "Under the Lights" camp played a role in his decision. "When I got home my Mom and I talked about it, we liked it at Texas. It's a good school, it has a good educational program and it's close to home."
"At first I was rushing, and I had to learn how to get into a three-point stance," the 6-6 athlete said. "But I liked it a lot. He (Strong) taught me more in 30 minutes about football than I've learned in three years at high school. I'll play the fox position - basically like [a guy] that can rush the passer or drop back in coverage. It's what I really like to do."
"Man… they were jacked up! They were fired up," the newest Texas commitment said about the UT staff when he called him earlier. "I'm done with everything basically."

Quotes from QB Kai Locksley of Baltimore, MD after the "Under the Lights" camp (OrangeBloods):
"It was awesome to be able to get out and work in front of the coaches, get to see how they work on the field," Locksley said. "There was a bunch of competition here so it was fun to just get out and throw."
"You can definitely see as to why Teddy Bridgewater is the quarterback he is," Locksley said. "(Watson) is a real hands-on coach, he knows his stuff and he gets the best out of you."
"They were just telling me what kind of offense they run, their schemes, how I could help them not only as a passer but also with my feet. He really thinks he could expand me and my knowledge of the game as a quarterback."
"Me and Zach (Gentry), we go way back. We've always had a great relationship," Locksley said. "He's a great friend of mine, so there was definitely some positive, friendly competition."
"He just understands that this recruiting process is tough. He's just wishing me the best of luck in hopefully making the right decision."
"With Texas, it's just the timing. They're in need of a quarterback. They stressed to me and that's something I've always dreamed of, to come in as a freshman and be able to compete," Locksley said. "I feel they're in a new era with the new coaches so I feel I can kind of help spark that."
"Florida State, they have a guru of a coach and he's produced tons of first-rounders. Not only that but they just won the national championship so they're going to have a great team behind you."
"Maryland, that's the home town. I'd have a bunch of family and friends there rooting me on. I'd have a great coach there and a coach who would know me better than any other coach in the country."
"I'm going to go back home and kind of digest this visit and hopefully try to make a decision sometime soon," Locksley said after the UT camp. "Publicly I'm going to announce it during my first game. Any time from now until then, I'll tell the coaches where I want to go."

Update on DT Darrion Daniels of Dallas Bishop Dunne after last Friday's camp (24/7):
“It was more than what I was expecting,” Daniels said intially.
“Everything was pumped. It was like game-like. Most practices you go to everything is chill and everything is fun and stuff, but when I was at that camp, it was a game-like feel. They had music playing and the competition with the players and the coaches were pushing the players for more competition. I just felt it was like a game-like atmosphere. Everyone was pumped up,” Daniels said.
“I got a chance to watch Coach Rumph in action; coaching in action. It was a big key. He was calm and he was teaching everybody and then had a firm hand when people started messing up.”
“He’s a really good teacher. When he was teaching the players technique and stuff and then enforced it during one-on-one drills it looked like they were practicing it for months. He’s a great teacher,” he said.
“This fall, recruiting wise, I’m not really looking forward to it. During two-a-days it is going to be mostly about my team and trying to get my mean together and ready for the season,” Daniels said.
“I hope to have my top 10 or top five before the beginning of the season and hopefully I will have my choice by the end of the season. By December is when I want to have my choice.”
“I keep [my top schools] under wraps right now because you start to see true colors and you notice new things coaches do. You start to see where recruits go and stuff like that,” he said.
“My impression of Texas improved (following the camp). A defensive lineman up there, he had a lot to say about the coaches. He said with the new coaching change that the football department has had change in a good way.”
“Texas Tech, they are really high on my list. I think I have been there twice and both times I went down there I loved it.”
“Oklahoma State’s facilities and campus, everything about OSU is beautiful. Me and Coach (Tim) Duffie have a really good relationship and I feel that if I go to OSU Coach Duffie will look after me a lot.”
“I talk to Baylor’s Coach (Jim) Gush, we talk regularly. I think Baylor is on the rise and if I were to go to Baylor I feel like I would have a big role and part of a bigger picture of them building for the future.”

The latest with 2016 WR Courtney Lark of Bellaire (24/7):
“It was a great time,” said Lark. “It was a lot of fun getting to see how everything there works and how the coaches are. I had a blast.”
“I think what I loved hearing the most was that the new coaching staff isn’t going to play favorites like a lot of coaches do,” Lark explained. “It’s going to be wide open there and anyone can take anyone’s job if they are performing better. That, along with how nice everything is here and the quality of coaching they have here, makes Texas stand out a lot.”
“They said they’re going to be busy with the Big 12 Media Days stuff right now,” Lark told Horns247. “On Wednesday they are supposed to regroup and talk about everything. I’m expecting to have one (an offer) shortly after that.”

“Oh man, it helped them a lot,” said Wilson. “I’m saying A LOT. The coaching staff showed me a lot of love and really separated themselves from the others. Texas is much further ahead than anyone else right now. They put themselves in a great position with me.”
“They’re at the top for me now,” he added. “That visit just did me in. I loved it.”

Update on 2016 DT Michael Williams of Fort Worth All Saints (24/7):
“It felt good to go against people who have a high level of talent,” Williams said. “Some of the state’s top prospects were out there and knowing I could play with them was a big deal. It felt good to show the coaches what I could do.”
“The coaches want effort and they’re going to get it out of you one way or another,” Williams told Horns247. “They got loud out there and they made us work. I loved that. They showed out.”
“If no one was excited, the coaches were still excited,” he added. “They got you excited even to do a drill. That intensity was just amazing. I loved it. Even when it got quiet they were screaming and motivating you. The players all took notice and started getting pumped up with them. We would all feed off their energy and that was great.”
“They told me they loved my film and they’re going to keep evaluating me. He said they liked me a lot and want me to come down for a game this season, which I’m going to do. I’ll try to make a few,” said Williams.

“Me and Coach Bedford really got to know each other on twitter,” he said. “He told me a lot. He really likes me.”
“If they offer I’m probably going to take other visits and after two-a-days I will commit,” he said.

What is the one thing that really stood out to you from Texas' "Under The Lights" camp? (HornsDigest)
Jason Higdon’s takeThe overall talent on the field is what stood out for me the most. This was the first time this event was held under theCharlie Strong (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7485862) era and it was a success. Texas (http://texas.scout.com/) had big-time prospects Friday night including defensive linemen Du’Vonta Lampkin, Darrion Daniels (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7265530), Mike Williams (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7748205), Charles Omenihu (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7520728), Louis Brown (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7384244) and Marvin Wilson (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7941363) to name a few.
I have a tough time deciding what was more impressive between the DL group and QB group. It is very close for me personally. At the quarterback position you had two headliners with Zach Gentry (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7049180) and Kai Locksley (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=6876193) for 2015.
The 2016 class is where things become interesting with players such asBrennen Wooten (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=6892437), Jalen Hurts (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7504300),Logan Bonner (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7767431) and Shane Buechele (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7783474). That is 12 top-of-the-line players, six on offense and six on defense, and I did not even talk about Kris Boyd (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=6983719), Holton Hill (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7036702) or Ryan Newsome (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7045157). I thought the overall talent level at this camp year one was fantastic.
William Wilkerson’s takeThere were a few things that I really took note of, including the amount of young talent at the camp that really came away with an improved outlook of what UT is about.
But the thing that I came away really thinking twice about were a few players that didn’t workout at all, namely 2016 RB/LB Demarco Boyd (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7273206)(Gilmer, Texas) and 2015 ATH/QBJ.W. Ketchum (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=6606487) (Houston (http://houston.scout.com/)/Lamar).
I’m not sure whose choice it really was for Boyd not to workout – his, his coaches, his brothers – but I thought it would have been a wise move for him to. I completely understand that there is a season right around the corner to keep in mind but our feeling at HD was that Boyd was in line for an offer if he would have worked out for the coaches.
Not only did it hurt his chances in that regard but it might have hurt UT’s chances of landing his brother, four-star DB Kris Boyd, who was there and didn’t work out either (completely get why he wouldn’t).
Ketchum was another player I thought should have worked out instead of standing on the sidelines. His recruitment has really slowed down lately and I figured a good performance at QB, which is where he said the staff was still looking at him as, could have reignited the flame between he and UT.
Chip Brown’s takeIn addition to the intense coaching recruits continue to get at Texas football camps - which continued Friday - I was struck by the comments from 2015 QBs Zach Gentry and Kai Locksley.
There was concern that Gentry might be deterred about the possibility of Locksley also picking Texas. Gentry told HD's William Wilkerson that he's OK with Locksley possibly choosing Texas.
Locksley told our own Jason Higdon that he and Gentry played AAU basketball together and have a good relationship.
There they were on Friday in DKR and both looked really sharp. It sounds like the possibility of signing both of these QBs could work - against all odds in most situations like this.
Gabe Brooks’ takeWhat really stood out to me was the intensity of the camp. Part of that was probably because I spent a good portion of the camp watching the defensive line group, which was getting instruction from assistant head coach for defense/defensive line coach Chris Rumph (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7810705), who did not hesitate to get his points across emphatically.
But part of what stood out about this was the players' reactions to this type of instruction at an elite recruit camp. All five of the guys I spoke with individually after the camp talked positively of the aggressive tone the coaches set. Rockwall 2015 DT Jaylen Veasley (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=6911396) said "Texas probably has the most intense coaching" of the camps he's attended this summer. Tyler John Tyler 2015 CB Isaac Warren (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7557670)said he enjoyed the in-your-face approach because it reminded him of his instruction at John Tyler. The younger recruits loved it, too.
Fort Bend Hightower 2016 DT Darius Anderson (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7739287) said he liked that Rumph "was coaching us and teaching us like we were his own kids." Alief Elsik 2016 S/CB Chris Brown (http://texas.scout.com/a.z?s=110&p=8&c=1&nid=7951442) called it a "great camp" and said "UT has great coaches." One of the youngest guys there, 2017 DT Marvin Wilson, said that Texas' coaches "wanted as close to perfection as they could get," and that brought out his competitive side.
I think the tone that the new staff wants to set on and off the field is one that recruits -- at least the ones I encountered following UTL -- enjoy and look forward to being a part of. Contrary to what a lot of people outside the realm of recruiting believe, the vast majority of players don't wanna be pampered and babied all the time. They feed off intensity and look for leadership, just like anybody else in any job or field.

Per Rivals, WR John Burt of Tallahassee, FL will announce his commitment on Sunday night:
"I've been mulling it over for a couple of weeks and I've pretty much decided at this point," the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Burt said. "As far as choosing Sunday, it's a reasonable date."
"I've been in pretty good with them (Texas)," Burt said. "I've been talking to the coaching staff for awhile and I'm feeling pretty confident they'll turn things around. I'm in constant contact with them."
"Whenever we talk, we're just chilling and talking about whatever," Burt said. "As far as football, he (Coach Strong) told me I'd fit in his offense and there's a lot of things he'd do with me as far as getting me the ball."
"It's a good atmosphere," Burt said. "I'm pretty comfortable being there and I've been in Austin and been around Texas for a while."
"It's excitement, relief - everything," he said. "It's every kid's dream to play college football so to get that opportunity is very exciting."

Jalen Overstreet and Chevoski Collins have been kicked off the team
benefactor
07-24-2014, 09:41 PM
Orangebloods.com has learned that Chevoski Collins and Jalen Overstreet have been dismissed from the team due to a violation of team rules, according to a source close to the situation. And this was apparently not the first time the two have violated the same rule.
The source also stated that Collins and Overstreet were two of the four players Charlie Strong banned from Moncrief prior to the most recent violation.
Strong has made it clear that he means business when it comes to breaking his core values, which are honesty, treat women with respect, no drugs, no stealing and no weapons. This is just another instance of his no-nonsense approach to discipline.

All feedback is very positive including such quote by: Anonymous parent of highly rated 2016 recruit: "I love it. When I send my son off, I want there to be a coach who takes care of his kids and isn't afraid to discipline them. There's a couple of other programs that don't do that. Thompson is purely a health matter I'm told. The others for obviously violating team rules, etc.
Every one of these dismissed players, with the exception of Sanders and Meander, were given a second chance....and they blew it. They knew the consequences and made bad decisions. They decided their own fate...NEXT! Be responsible for your actions. I tell my kids that every day. This is the purge that we all thought we would see. These young men were given multiple chances.
All six removed for failed drug test, our sources say. Your fourth failure gets you kicked off the team, they got an extra chance with a 5th and still failed.

- MemberS of the OL might be in trouble. Plural. They said it was academic reasons (Estelle?) and that Desmond Harrison is a name they've heard a lot today.

Johnnie Johnson (father of RB/S Kirk Johnson and '16 WR Collin Johnson): "It is consistent with the value and beliefs that we have at home. It really helps young men develop beyond football once football is over."

Malik Jefferson discusses Saturday's visit. (InsideTexas)
The Mesquite Poteet linebacker just left campus minutes ago and dropped me a line. If you're looking for some monumental update on Jefferson, now's not the time. He's in no hurry to decide, or even trim his list, rather, he'd prefer to continue doing his diligence and stick to his December timeline.
This allows the early enrollee to do as much homework on each school as possible while waiting for the all important data point to crystallize. That's of course the 2014 season.
As with many prospects, this is somewhat of a family decision. Accordingly, Jefferson traveled to Austin with his mother and two brothers. Pops would have loved to have made the trip but work beckons.
Here's what Jefferson had to say.
Inside Texas: No small talk needed. How'd it go?
Malik Jefferson: It went well. It was really laid back.
IT: What did the visit entail?
MJ: We spent a lot of time talking, really. Not only with Coach Strong and Coach BJ (Brian Jean-Marie), but also the rest of the coaches, even the Offensive Coordinator. We were there for four hours and spent it all in the offices.
IT: You said it was laid back. Did you see a softer side of Strong? Perhaps even humorous?
MJ: Oh yeah, we were laughing the whole time.
IT: Football wise, what did you discuss?
MJ: We watched some film from when he was at Louisville, but not a whole lot. He wasn't really selling me too hard. He was actually pretty smooth about how bad he wanted me there - he wasn't over the top or laying it on too thick but I picked up on it.
IT: Did academics come up?
MJ: Some but not about actual school so much as life after football. We talked about that for a while, the importance of education, but it wasn't so much about what I would study in college.
IT: I'm sure he brought up the recent dismissals. What are your thoughts about that?
MJ: Yes, we discussed that. I mean, he said players were breaking their core values and that won't last. From my standpoint, I respect it; you have to. Following the rules is just something you've got to do.
IT: What was the highlight?
MJ: Ummm, it was just cool and relaxing. Like I said, we joked around a lot.
IT: And the lowlights?
MJ: Lowlights??? [laughing]
IT: Scale of 1-10, how was it?
MJ: 9/10.

"I like the way he (Charlie Strong) is running the program," Mack said. "He is trying to fix it to his liking. He didn't get the job because things were going all fine and dandy."

"I just felt like Texas was the best school," Burt said. "It was a little bit of everything, the comfort, it's like a home away from home. I can be independent, but I also have that family feel with coach Vaughn being from Tallahassee and I have family that lives there also."
"The little things about Texas stood out more than any school," Burt said. "I knew about my decision two weeks ago."
"The facilities are really nice. The coaches, there's something about the coaches that kind of draws me towards them," Burt said, detailing what put Texas out in front. "Coach Vaughn, he's a really cool guy and I talk to him a lot."
"When (Strong) is not in the zone coaching, he's a really cool, laid back guy. He was excited, but he wasn't jumping all over the room or anything," Burt said. "That's not the kind of guy his is, but you could tell he was pretty excited."
"Early on, my first two years, I can bring size and speed. I can bring some underclassmen leadership and once I build my way up, I bring overall team leadership to go with the with on-field stuff," Burt said.
"It (the recruiting process) wasn't really bearing too much weight, but it was definitely heavy. Just bing able to finally move past it, it's a big relief," Burt said.

Wide receiver John Burt (https://texas.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=140300) has been pretty open in recent months that the Texas Longhorns were on top of his list and Texas was the team to beat for his commitment.
On Sunday afternoon, Burt backed up the talk by giving the Longhorns a commitment.
Burt, out of Tallahassee Lincoln, becomes the Longhorns' 13th commitment in the 2015 recruiting class. A four-star prospect and a member of the Rivals100, Burt is suddenly the highest-rated player in UT's class.
The 6-2, 180-pound Burt has built a strong relationship with the Texas coaches since they're arrival in Austin, including head coachCharlie Strong (https://texas.rivals.com/viewcoach.asp?Coach=288) and assistant coach Chris Vaughn (https://texas.rivals.com/viewcoach.asp?Coach=265), who was active in Burt's recruitment.
Texas' chances were also bolstered by the fact that Burt has multiple family members that live in Austin. The talented receiver has made multiple visits to the UT campus over the last year and is scheduled to again be in Austin later this week.
Burt had recently narrowed his list to Texas, Auburn, Florida State and Miami, and he said he's known for a while that Texas was the place for him.
"The little things about Texas stood out more than any school," Burt said. "I knew about my decision two weeks ago."
When Orangebloods.com caught up with Burt at both the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge and The Opening, he mentioned that he was getting close to a decision and said it wasn't out of the realm of possibility that he could commit to Texas during his visit at the end of July. It turns out, the Longhorns didn't have to wait quite that long.
"The facilities are really nice. The coaches, there's something about the coaches that kind of draws me towards them," Burt said, detailing what put Texas out in front. "Coach Vaughn, he's a really cool guy and I talk to him a lot."
An athletic playmaker on the outside, Burt is ranked as the nation's seventh-best wide receiver prospect. He's ranked No. 61 in the Rivals100.
"Burt is a big-play wide receiver who has ideal size to play on the outside," said Rivals.com regional recruiting analyst Woody Womack. "High highlight tape is full of him going up and making tough catches, but he's also consistent on short and intermediate routes.
"He still needs to bulk up and add some more weight to his long frame, but for Texas to go into Florida and grab a guy of his status is a big move."
Burt is the Longhorns' first wide receiver commitment in the class and Texas' second commitment in the last six days, joining Louis Brown (https://texas.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=151762). The Longhorns are hoping to keep the momentum going on Monday, with defensive tackle Du'Vonta Lampkin (https://texas.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=144424) expected his commitment to Texas.
