That's funny about Mack Brown remembering everyone's name. You can tell it's something he really makes a point to do because in every single halftime interview I've ever seen with him, he always states the reporter's name.
Meanwhile Charlie barely makes eye contact with the person he's talking to.

He got a lot out of T.J. Ford but anything short of a title with Durant was a loss.
I'm still watching the UT football games but I'm pretty much done following any of the other football media coverage.

To follow up on the info from earlier last week, Inside Texas says the players being benched are OG Patrick Vahe, LB Anthony Wheeler and LB Malik Jefferson.
Vahe has statistically had two of his best games the past two weeks, so his benching is the most surprising.

Ok enough with the 18 wheeler package. Since the entire universe knows there is no chance in hell that we are going tp pass the ball, the defense stacks the formation every single time. This has left the tires stuck in the mud. We have done nothing out of that package in the last several games. It also doesn't help that Swoopes runs on his tip toes like a ballerina frolicking through the forest.

400 yards on the ground. 624 total yards; 31 1st downs by Baylor.
This is the bend-break-score philosophy of winning. And losing.
I am going to take a stab at surmising we have trouble with QBs who can run.

Baylor's D did enough to win. It was Baylor's red zone offense that sputtered in the 2nd half and couldn't blow the game open like it looked it would

Foreman was running thru freeways. They gave up huge pass plays. They are awful. Against an offense they see all the time in practice, just like us. The Big 12 is a mess. No team deserves to be in 1st. And we are 2-3 going to Tech to get handed another 600 yard slap around. And still have a chance...

Basically saying he can lose one more game and still come back, but my guess is he has to go perfect the rest of the way to make it back.
If he goes perfect the rest of the way, I'm confident he comes back, and I want him back. If he loses, then well, it's on him.
At this point I'm starting to think Kansas is the trap game. We all just expect to win that game, but they have been competitive at times this year, they might be looking at Texas as their best chance for a win.

I don't want him back at all if we win all our games 50-46 with the defensive suckage. The defense MUST start playing well AND we must win.

Wait. Whomever the TT QB is must have more TDs than Foreman. We get some long pass plays. A backup QB can beat us with our D. But not a 4th string WR playing QB.

I guarantee that with 8 regular season wins Charlie Strong will be back.
The administration does not want to fire the first black head coach after 3 seasons. The current AD does not want to be the one to fire and hire a new coach.
They are looking for anything to show improvement for this season, just so they can keep him around.

Decent defensive game plan.
Horrible fundamentals yet again. We can't cover a basic pick between two receivers and we still can't tackle. We dropped how many interceptions?
And lets run Swoopes twice when Foreman has not lost a yard the entire game.

Defense played great today.
If that's great D we have incredibly low expectations.
The scheme was good, the execution was horrible. We got beat on the same basic little two man pick twice not due to their great execution, but our huge F ups. We still miss easy tackles and still take horrible angles. Coverage was better, pressure was inconsistent.
We played one safety deep almost the entire game that was not red zone so we did prevent long plays. We still have serious problems in the 2ndary.
No way we get a pass for this just because it was not horrific. The defense is not in anyway fixed. The main step forward was the scheme IMO. The dropped interceptions were maddening. Just like Blake said, Mahomes threw a number of balls up for grab when we had two men on one for them, and could not come down with a ball.

You hpod the 2nd highest scoring offense to 30 points, not bad at all. Maybe not great, but I would take that all day everyday. There are still holes to fix and Charlie took way too long in taking over the defense, but I've seen good improvement the last couple of weeks. Hope it keeps trending that way.

Score is not always a great indicator of the way a defense plays. The fact that the end zone is only 15 yards deep is a great help to us. Honestly Mahomes looked like the walking wounded today which I believe helped a lot.
I think the plan plan on D was good but my God we have to tackle and take the ball away.

My impressions of the Tech game
1. Defense showed improvement but still has a long way to go.
2. When you have a beast like D'Onta Foreman, you must feed the beast.
3. 18 Wheeler package must go, and never come back.
4. Malik Jefferson had his best game of the season.
5. Our DBs didn't look lost and were flying around making plays.
6. Buschele to Collin Johnson will be hell to stop over the next 2 years
7. I'm starting to see hope for Strong.
8. Our OC sometimes loses sight of the fact he has one of the top players in the country at RB.

That was weird play calling in the 4th with about 7 minutes left where they ran Buechele and then passed twice.
Don't lose sight of the fact that Tech isn't very good. This should have been a 68-28 type of rout.

Not even a question. Sterling has made this team very competitive on offense. The last two years we couldn't even get a first down. Sterling has a lot of growing up to do but he is maturing as a signal caller, next year he will have more plays in place for this offense.

So our offensive line has clearly been a pleasant surprise. We have had a lot of kids in there and they have basically done a good job. I know we get rid of the ball pretty quickly and spread things out for Foreman. But he has had some huge lanes.
Im thinking I could have gone for 50 yards on 33 carries against Tech. (Assuming I would not lose a limb upon getting hit) Props to our Oline coach I guess.

I don't see how Richardson could come close to emulating Fournette. He's slow as shit.

I'm still not totally convinced Gilbert is that great of an OC. I like what he has done, but I've noticed that our running game isn't that great once Foreman is out. What will our running game be like next year, we can hope Warren is healed, but knee injuries aren't easy to return from.
I am however convinced that our passing game can get a lot better if we can utilize the middle of the field, I think we need to just utilize our TE as more than just a blocker. I hope Payton Aucoin is ready to step up. Or maybe Lil'Jordan will out grow the WR position.

I think it would be a heck of a thing to hire former players as a scout team staff to help prepare guys to play. Texas could afford to pay them a salary and it will also serve as a way for those players who have aspirations of going to the league to keep their bodies ready. Probably only have to pay them a token salary with benefits. 40K + benefits, about 70K per guy, and that would be about 30-40 member staff. 3 million isn't a bad number to fit the bill and I'm sure a couple of rich boosters would be willing to cover it. If it can prepare the team better I'm all for it.
Saban does something else I really love. Every day he holds two practices, a practice for the starters and a practice for the second team, it doesn't go against any rules because there is no difference in the amount of practice the players do, but it doubles up the amount of coaching time available to the team. I don''t know why other teams aren't doing this.

Not even a question. Sterling has made this team very competitive on offense. The last two years we couldn't even get a first down. Sterling has a lot of growing up to do but he is maturing as a signal caller, next year he will have more plays in place for this offense.
Depends on the next head coach and who he is comfortable with.
He might have a solid OC on his staff that he wants to bring

I think our true freshman RB has very poor vision and decision making on where to run because he is a true freshman. Foreman not only picks the right place to run most of the time, he can also break tackles. The freshman does have some quicks though. Patience with him IMO. This offense opens up gigantic lanes, but you gotta see it, confidence and experience needed.

Possibly team unity? "Coach, when do I get to practice..."
If they are on the field at the same time you can make a switch immediately.
just guessing...
