Floss, just a reminder. What did you want to do with scouting the videos? Are we going to have our own rankings? Haha

So lets set this up.
1. Aggsy are in turmoil, they hate Sumlin and are going into next year with 1 bad QB and no backup a new OC and facing the SEC. They are going to be a dumpster fire.
2. LSU nearly fired Miles last year, I really don't think there is much going to stop them this year short of him actually beating Alabama and making the playoffs.
3. Baylor is just now starting to see the issues with their rape-gate.
IF Charlie can actually win some ball games or challenge for the conference or a playoff spot, I think he will absolutely clean up in the state next year. Thoughts.

Not to mention TCU losing recruits to Houston. Everyone is vulnerable right now.

Texas with another impressive win today at the expense of Texas Tech. Jarrett Allen looks to be getting pretty comfortable with the staff and squad with all these visits.

Only looking at the 15 seniors spaces. With the four commitments already IMO Texas needs, 1 more DE, 1 RB, 1 DT, 3 OL, 2LB, 1CB and 2 Safetys. Then attrition will happen giving more spaces.

I was going to post several names by position just so everyone can see what's out there for the 2017 class and who Texas might offer.
A way for us to bullshit and kill time until Junior Day rolls around.

Names in TX to watch for LSU:
Toneil Carter
Marvin Wilson
Austin Deculus
LSU will have to hit out of state hard this year as they aren't as many elite prospects in the south. California is loaded.

From The Shag:
Heading into our 1st Jr day here in a few weeks, the 2017 class is already off to an excellent start with 4 players: QB Sam Ehlinger, WR Damion Miller, TE Major Tennison and SDE Lagaryonn Carson.
QB(1) - Got one of the best in Texas in Sam Ehlinger
RB(2) - J.K. Dobbins is probably back to being a heavy Texas lean, Eno Benjamin is probably another kid that Texas could get today with an offer.
WR(2) - Damion Miller is a great start, need to an elite WR here to complement this class. If the new offense takes off, shouldn't be too hard to get one.
TE(1) - Major Tennison could be the dual threat TE, Texas hasn't had since the days of Scaife and Thomas.
OL(4) - This should start with OTs Austin Deculus, Walker Little and Grayson Reed. Then add one more elite guy.
DL(3) - WDE Taquon Graham is a heavy lean, Lagaryonn Carson is already a commit. Leaving the 1 true difference maker along the DL. Texas MUST sign DT Marvin Wilson.
LB(3) - This where Texas can take their time between OLBs Dylan Moses, Baron Browning and Levi Jonesand ILB Anthony Hines. Texas has those 4 elite options.
CB(2-3) - Need to restock the pipeline. Getting William Poole III from Georgia is going to take work, but Texas could do it.
S(1-2) - Derrick Tucker is pretty close to joining this class. He could be the lone take, but you also work on Jeffrey Okudah until Feb. 2017.
Depth-wise, we might be the best we have been in 10 years. It's really across the board. DL was a major weakness, and it was addressed heavily. Now, it's just about keeping balanced in the classes as we move forward. Think about 22 starters and 25 recruits per year, and go 1 extra at QB and 1 extra big body (OL or DL). Draft a new team every year, unless there is some year where there is a supreme advantage. So essentially, you want to address:
1-2 QB
2 RB
4 WR/TE
5 OL
3 DT
2 DE
3 LB
2 C
2 S
2017
QB - Probably set with Ehlinger http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3185948/sam-ehlinger (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3185948/sam-ehlinger), unless there is a transfer. Other options are Robinson (not happening), Mond (IMG - not happening), and someone off the radar like a Merrick-type.
RB - if you don't go get Eno Benjamin, you will regret it. www.hudl.com/athlete/3381839/eno-benjamin (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3381839/eno-benjamin). JK Dobbins http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3378902/jk-dobbins (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3378902/jk-dobbins) is similar, but different, and he will be an absolute take as well. Toeneil Carter http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2893060/toneil-carter (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2893060/toneil-carter) is there as well. It's a long shot, and I don't think he's better than Benjamin and Dobbins.
TE - Tennison http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3698393/major-tennison (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3698393/major-tennison) is there. Does he fit? Maybe like a better version of that Amaro kid from Tech? I don't think he will be there at the end, unless he is projected to move to tackle. I have been wrong before, but I don't see his style as being needed. However, there ain't crap in the state, and TE is hard to project. Maybe it sticks.
WR - Damion Miller http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4125599/...s/313971426/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4125599/highlights/313971426/v3) is on the board, and he is good. The Singleton kid from Brother Martin http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2603770/jeremy-singleton (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2603770/jeremy-singleton) is unreal. His speed wins you games. If you can get him, you go get him. Tylan Wallace http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3673025/...s/212492375/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3673025/highlights/212492375/v3) is another in-state prospect. I know that he played against $#@!, played with $#@!, and was probably coached by $#@!. But he could move to corner, and he likes to hit. I am intrigued.
OL - You have to start thinking about replacing Conner Williams. That sounds crazy to me. Maybe Delance was the answer. Maybe he wasn't. Grayson Reed (kin to Ced Reed) http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3243526/grayson-reed (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3243526/grayson-reed), Deculushttp://www.hudl.com/athlete/4331154/...s/316081419/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4331154/highlights/316081419/v3) (size), and Walker Little (my favorite) http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2913981/...s/221082376/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2913981/highlights/221082376/v3) are the best of the bunch at tackle. You take two, and I would go with Reed and Little. Tyrese Robinson http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4720790/...s/210210396/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4720790/highlights/210210396/v3) committed to OU, but he will end up at Texas. He is the best guard in the state, and you can tell Jack Anderson's http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3067076/...s/304892390/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3067076/highlights/304892390/v3) punk ass I said so. Harris from Aledo http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2596337/...s/205049379/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2596337/highlights/205049379/v3) is undersized in my opinion. You could go get the Ingram kid from Desoto, but, boy, he is a project http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4809257/...s/229588376/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4809257/highlights/229588376/v3). He could be very, very good, and we have the type of depth now to take a flyer or two. Which gets us to center...Deaton from Frisco High is good. He will get made fun of by the Moob contingent, but he's better than Anderson from the film I have seen. That was one game, but I was floored with how good he was, compared to what I was expecting. When I watched his film, I was even more pleased http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4824843/...s/285886402/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4824843/highlights/285886402/v3) Your in-state and out-of-state options are limited here. Maybe you recruit an extra guard and convert him. And if you are thinking "easy enough", then you haven't been asked to play center. Totally different skill set is needed.
DT - Marvin Wilson http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2914209/...s/327996390/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2914209/highlights/327996390/v3). I might personally consider this class a failure if we didn't get him. Wilson and Carson are the best two players in the state. If Charlie has to get his mom pregnant to secure the commitment, you reverse that vasectomy and you flip into breeding mode ASAP. You pair him up with Deiontae Wattshttp://www.hudl.com/athlete/3109716/...s/301945381/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3109716/highlights/301945381/v3) from Plano East (especially if it helps with Hines), and you rest easy knowing that you will be trotting them (with the class of 2016 kids that are still around) out to play against LSU when they come to Austin in 2019. They could have Fournette 2.0 in 2019, and we will still pack their $#@! tight.
DE - Carson http://www.hudl.com/athlete/5095116/...s/247059375/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/5095116/highlights/247059375/v3). My favorite player in the state. I watched him on film as a sophomore against Argyle, and I was floored. I had to do a search to find out who the kid was. If JMad learned to play better and was a little quicker, he would be Carson. All of the rankings need to figure out that he is the best player in Texas. Pair him up with Taquon Graham from Temple http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4634607/...s/315676378/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4634607/highlights/315676378/v3) on the other side, and tee tee runs down the leg of Shawn Robinson and whichever Baylor QB wants their neck broke.
S - Okudah http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3197943/...s/313513467/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3197943/highlights/313513467/v3) and Tuckerhttp://www.hudl.com/athlete/1337318/...s/319414385/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1337318/highlights/319414385/v3). Very similar in how they play. Both good. Okudah is a long shot, but I've learned to stop doubting Charlie. Tucker could happen soon, and that would be a good thing. Don't tell OU, but I like Robert Barnes. I think our chances would be better if we had gotten Eboh. But we didn't.
C - Calloway? Yeah, he kinda gets my $#@! hard. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2791187/...s/293123433/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2791187/highlights/293123433/v3)That's the best in-state option of a bad class. In my opinion, you go to Brother Martin and get Tre Swilling(son of Pat Swilling), especially if it will help with Singleton. His change of direction is smooth. Very smooth. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3489783/...s/211385375/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3489783/highlights/211385375/v3)
LB - ah yes...LB. Dylan Moses has been getting headlines for years. They love Charlie. Love him. He likes Texas. He won't be coming here. I'm not even going to get your hopes up and post his Hudl. Instead...focus on two kids that will make you forget about DJax. Anthony Hines from Plano East http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3917043/...s/289105383/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3917043/highlights/289105383/v3) is so good. He likes Texas. He will be a Longhorn if Charlie is here (not trying to draw in the fire Charlie crowd). Baron Browning is so, so good. I'm putting up the link to his powerlifting totals...http://www.thspa.us/athleteresults.a...hleteID=279400 (http://www.thspa.us/athleteresults.aspx?passedAthleteID=279400). 630 lb deadlift at 220lbs is very impressive. His 1485 powerlifting total is pretty good, but he has an outside chance to break the 242lb deadlift record this year or next, and he is giving up 18lbs in the weight class. He is a Baylor commit, but that won't last. It just won't. When a LB has a chance to play with the meat we have in front of him, he will get to make plays. Plays get you to the NFL. The NFL gets you paid. Period. Here is the Hudl...proceed to Level 6. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2510669/...s/323346404/v3 (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2510669/highlights/323346404/v3)

I think Texas will snag commits from Browning, Hines, and Levi Jones at LB and will be stacked with incredible talent for years at the position.

What is the word on Johnson, I absolutely don't know a thing about him as far as his playing days and what he did as an assistant at Texas. Obviously he was a GA when he was here. Do we know if he can recruit? I feel confident he knows Texas high school football.

Baron Browning, Anthony Hines, Marvin Wilson, Chevin Calloway, and Derrick Tucker are the five targeted names on top of Strong's 2017 board for defense (not counting Carson who is already committed). According to Higdon.

Floss, any idea why Collins made Strong's big board? He's only 5'10," which is pretty short for a Charlie Strong corner.
I think it's a near certainty that Texas goes OOS for a long shut down corner in the 2017 class. I expect Traylor, Vaughn, and Brick to all over Da Boot during the spring evaluation period looking for tall corners.
Tucker is one of the top junior safeties in the state. He's a take.
Wilson, Hines, and Browning are not all only the top players at their positions in state, they could be the top players at their positions in the country.
2017 is a deep in state class, but it's pretty shallow at DB, especially at corner.

Did you read Higdon's story about how this coach went behind Patrick Hudson's back and faxed Hudson's LOI? Something like he went by Hudson's home and asked mom to sign the papers and went ahead and faxed it without Hudson's knowledge. Briles and him were roommates in college or something like that.
He'll probably get a job at Baylor doing something for Briles.,

That is absolutely as low as it goes for a coach to do that. If he parlays that action into a job at Baylor, then I lost all respect for Baylor. On second thought, my opinion of Baylor can't get lower.
I'm willing to bet that his actions will earn him a pretty little check from some Baylor booster.
How the hell does Baylor still call themselves a religious school, I doubt this school ever traveled a high road in their lives?

— Four-star 2017 Cedar Hill wide receiver Camron Buckley will be at Texas junior day on February 27. Buckley is high on both Texas and TCU but does not want to make an early decision.
— Sachse quarterback Jalen Mayden might be in the 2018 class, but the staff invited him to junior day, and he plans on attending. By the way, Mayden picked up a big offer from Ohio State today.
— Hooks athlete Montrell Estell reported new offers from Arizona State, SMU and Texas State. A three-star prospect, Estell is one of the most intriguing prospects in the state. We will have more on him tomorrow.
— Houston Lamar safety Grant Delpit notched a new offer from Purdue. Delpit camped with Texas at Under The Lights and is a prospect to keep an eye on. He currently holds seven offers.
— Another prospect to monitor is Lake Dallas cornerback Kobe Boyce. I mentioned him in the notes on Sunday, and today he picked up his first offer from Iowa State. Boyce should blow up this spring.

Couple that with tough injury plagued careers of Johnathan Gray and Dalton Santos. Still up in the air what happens with Hassan Ridgeway, Caleb Bluiett, Paul Boyette and Bryce Cottrell. Kids tend to do that, you can't blame the entire student body for the thoughts and words of a few ignorant pricks. I guarantee that UT has students with that same attitude.
The Ole Miss situation is much, much worse than they are letting on publicly. Multiple Level 1 infractions under Freeze's watch.
Yea, didn't see that one coming. Dude is recruiting nationally to Mississippi, how the hell did he think he wouldn't get caught. It would take a dump truck amount of money to get me back to live in that state. And I have a shit load of family there. Rats will be jumping ship fairly quickly with this one.
You know, back in the 90's when Washington got caught, they had the book thrown at them but they didn't care since they won a MNC. Ole Miss has nothing to show for this. They have always been a shitty program, now they will be back to the shit stain once again.

“I’m honestly not sure (where UT sits),” Ingram said. “I’m just getting over the fact that they offered. I liked what Coach Mattox said. He told me he needed a guy that could put linebackers on their backs. He seemed like a cool coach."

Per Notre Dame 24/7, DE Robert Beal of Norcross, GA has UT as his leader after de-committing from the Irish.
“They have done a tremendous job recruiting Robert since offering last summer,” said a source. “He has a great relationship with Charlie Strong and the two had a really long, impactful conversation after he decommitted from Notre Dame.”
The reason for opening his recruitment back up is his sister could not get into Notre Dame and they'd like to attend the same school.

I think Beal is gettable. He doesn't have Georgia in his top 5, and he was committed to Notre Dame. The kid wants to go out of state, and he has an excellent relationship with Strong.
Okudah coming to Junior Day is big. He hasn't shown much interest in Texas until now. Maybe the coaching changes helped.
Walker Little attending is also big. Pretty strange recruitment, everybody says Texas is a player except for Higdon.
I don't want to stir the pot, but I'm hearing rumors about a top 10 in state recruit transferring to IMG Academy. My gut tells me it's Little. I hope it's not Marvin Wilson.
Horns 247 is sitting on "positive Texas news" on Wilson.

The Kentucky situation
From Alex at OB:
a husband who wants sole custody and is obviously going for it with Gusto.
All that was indicated about Strong (not even technically 'accused') was receipt of material gifts. It's the request for his cell phone/text records that, when coupled with the perceived intentions of the husband, give the indication it could be some kind of murky situation but that's all- an indication.

Open Post - Brainiacs - 2/22
– Player Note | Tristen Nickelson: The offensive line returns 3 starters from last years team, senior Kent Perkins and sophomores Connor Williams and Patrick Vahe. If Perkins plays his natural position at guard in 2016, a guy who some expect to really challenge for the starting right tackle position is junior Tristen Nickelson. Perkins missed a few games in 2015 and Nickelson started for him in most of those and did a good job. I have been told that Connor Williams has been looking really good at tackle in 1-on-1 drills, but who is really surprised to hear that? What is exciting to hear is that the second name being brought up by folks behind the scenes as an offensive lineman who has looked good this off-season is none other than Tristen Nickelson. Nickelson is also just a huge guy, last I was told he is up to 6’7 320 pounds. If that’s not an intimidater, I don’t know what is. – (Andrew)
– Coach Note | Matt Mattox: I also heard that the offensive lineman really like the new OL coach Matt Mattox. I was told he is so much more relatable to his players compared to Joe Wickline. I even had one person say he was the “anti-Wickline”. The workouts for the lineman, and everyone else have been very up-tempo so I think that confirms what we all know which is the new coaches will expect the new offense to move very fast. – (Andrew)
– Jeffrey Okudah: This past weekend I caught up with everyone’s top 2017 defensive back target, Jeffrey Okudah (Grand Prairie, TX). Okudah released a top 10 that did not include Texas but in talking to Okudah it’s clear that things continue to move around for him. “That recruiting class that coach Strong brought in really made me rethink things with regard to Texas…it gives you reason to believe that things are moving in the right direction”.
Okudah visited Texas once last spring and tells me that he will make a return trip to Austin this upcoming weekend for the Texas jr day. Okudah tells me he wants to play for a major football program but also said that, “academics are an emphasis for me and my family”. Many may not know this but Okudah isn’t just one of the premier football players in the country, he’s also an excellent student in the classroom. – (Super K)
– Another Visitor | Andre Johnson: Okudah isn’t the only South Grand Prairie visitor expected to make the trip to Austin this weekend. SGP running back, Andre Johnson is also expected to be in attendance for this weekend’s jr day. We will try to have more with him later this week. – (Super K)

Horns 24/7:
Jeff Howe: Longhorns not changing recruiting strategy for 2017 cycle
The Texas Longhorns are set to host a junior day for 2017 prospects next Saturday, and for Charlie Strong and his staff it officially kicks off the start of the new recruiting cycle. It’s a cycle where Longhorns are on equal footing with every other program that recruits the state like no other time in Strong’s tenure. The current crop of rising seniors had just finished up their freshman seasons on the gridiron when Strong took over the Texas program. The Longhorns were able to extend early offers to some of the state’s top recruits like Kennedale linebacker Baron Browning, Houston Episcopal defensive tackle Marvin Wilson and La Grange running back J.K. Dobbins with the same time to evaluate the class as their rivals on the recruiting trail.
Nevertheless, the greater degree of familiarity with the class of 2017 doesn’t mean there will be a philosophical change in regards to how the staff recruits. Recruiting coordinator Brian Jean-Mary said recently Texas won’t change its approach from the way the staff has gone about things during their first two full cycles on the Forty Acres. “I’ve gotten a chance to see a lot of these kids this year the same way I was with Jeffrey McCulloch last year at this time, the same way I went to see Erick Fowler, I got a chance to go see Jean Delance and those guys,” Jean-Mary said. “So our philosophy is not going to change.”
That includes the staff’s stance on taking verbal commitments. Austin Westlake quarterback Sam Ehlinger, John Tyler wide receiver Damion Miller, Bullard tight end Major Tennison and Texarkana Liberty-Eylau defensive end Lagaryonn Carson gave their commitments to the Longhorns without being pressured by the staff to do so. It will be that way for anyone else who decides to jump in the boat, Jean-Mary said. “It’s going to be low pressure on their part,” Jean-Mary said. “If they decide they want to be Longhorns they’ll make that decision without us pressuring them.”
Jean-Mary further explained why Strong and the staff don’t like pressuring recruits to make early commitments. It’s a strategy that has everything to do with wanting commitments to be all-in as much as they can be before jumping onboard. “We don’t believe in backing them into a corner and forcing them into making a decision,” Jean-Mary said. “It’s like coach Strong says, if someone can force you to make a decision it’s very easy for another person to come out and make you change your mind about what you just did.”

I wonder if this has anything to do the recent de-committment of Robert Beal from Notre Dame? I think this 2017 class Will be a smaller one (around 20) so taking the best fit will be at a premium this year. With Carson in fold and Beal having Texas on top, the Horns are in good position with two top DEs. Granted you don't stop recruiting good talent, but it probably died a little.

HornSports Burnt Ends: This week's edition will provide an updated list of upcoming Junior day attendees and a short synopsis on where things stand with those particular recruits and the Longhorns.
Let's get started.
QB – Sam Ehlinger – Austin Westlake
The leader of the 2017 class will be in Austin to do some recruiting. Ehlinger is one of the recruits in this class leading the charge to land other players to the cause. Ehlinger is well liked and other players believe in him after a monster junior season.
QB – Jalen Mayden – Sachse (2018 class)
Mayden will be one of the top targets for the 2018 class, and an offer to him this weekend could go a long way to sending the message about his importance to Texas. If Texas offers it could put them in a strong position with one of the top passers in the 2018 class.
RB – Eno Benjamin – Wylie East
Benjamin is one of the top options on the Texas board at running back, but Texas has yet to extend an offer to the Wylie East back. Benjamin recently named Michigan and Iowa as two schools standing out to him, and he might want to make a decision soon. If Texas wants to get involved, they will need to come with an offer soon.
WR – Camron Buckley – Cedar Hill
Buckley is one of the top targets at wide receiver for the Longhorns, but the Cedar Hill pass catcher named Houston as his leader when we spoke to him last month. Texas definitely has a chance here, and they can pick up some ground if Buck likes what he sees.
WR – Damion Miller – John Tyler
The lone Texas wide receiver commit is still open to other schools, so this weekend is a good opportunity to draw him in. Miller is part of an east Texas trio of recruits, and this is the first chance for the entire recruiting class to really spend some time together. Miller is an important piece of the class so far, and this weekend is an important step in this recruitment.
WR – Drue Jackson – Sachse (2018 class)
Jackson is close with Mayden, and he’s been to Texas multiple times. It’s difficult to tell if he’s a priority for Texas for right now, but It’s a good chance for Texas to establish some early ground in this recruitment.
OL – Tyrese Robinson – McKinney Boyd
Robinson is committed to Oklahoma, but he’s still choosing to make a trip to Austin this weekend. While our sources indicate his Oklahoma pledge is firm, but anything can happen when you get a player on campus.
OL – Grayson Reed – Cy Creek
Reed is one of the top Texas offensive line targets, and he’s recently started to blow up from a recruiting standpoint. Reed is a Texas legacy, and he told us at the Army All-American combine that Texas was standing out for him. Reed has a great relationship with Matt Mattox, and Texas could come out of this weekend with a strong lead for the Cy-Creek lineman.
OL – Walker Little – Bellaire Episcopal
The state’s top tackle is a maybe to attend, and while whispers behind the scenes point to a SEC recruitment, Texas put themselves in a good position by offering Little first. Little making it to Austin would be big for Texas in this recruitment.
ATH – Montrell Estell – Hooks
If I had to pick a candidate I felt most strongly about getting a Texas offer this weekend, Estell would be high on my list. The big east Texas athlete has yet to be noticed on the national scene, but a look at his film will show you some of what made former Texas receiver Malcolm Williams such a coveted prospect.
TE – Major Tennison – Bullard
Much like Damion Miller, Texas needs to do some work in this recruitment. Tennison is committed to Texas, but he has some concerns about the new Texas offense and his role as a tight end. Sterlin Gilbert and Jeff Traylor will need to sell Tennison on his role in Austin.
DE – Taquon Graham – Temple
Graham likes Texas, but they haven’t been showing him the love the Temple defender would like to see. That lack of attention has TCU on top for Graham, but things can definitely change this weekend if Texas goes all in for Graham.
DE – LaGaryonn Carson – Liberty Eylau
The most vocal recruiter in the Texas class has a chance to make an impact this weekend and get some folks on board. Carson is a strong commit, and should be quite a tool for the Texas class going forward.
DE – Alex Duke – Bellaire
The Houston commit has yet to be offered by Texas, but if the Longhorns get involved they could make some noise with the Houston area defender.
LB/DE – Kenneth Murray – Elkins
Murray is one of the most versatile defenders in the state, and Texas has kept in steady contact with him. He’s another dark horse to receive an offer this weekend, and if that were to happen I’d say there’s a good chance he commits.
LB – Levi Jones – Austin Westlake
Jones will be one of the current Texas offers on campus this weekend. While interest is piquing from all over the nation, Jones is close with his teammate Sam Ehlinger, and the tealeaves say Texas sits in the lead.
LB – Baron Browning – Kennedale
Browning recently de-committed from Baylor, and he’s always had a love for Charlie strong and Texas. There is a lot of positive vibes floating for Texas and Browning, but this will probably be a long recruitment. Texas has a chance to put their best foot forward this weekend.
LB – Anthony Hines – Plano East
Hines has offers from over 80 schools, but he’s fond of Texas and is the top inside linebacker target for Texas. The Longhorns are trying to put together a third straight stellar linebacking class, and Hines is an essential piece to that.
LB – Loren Mondy – Mansfield Lake Ridge
The Arizona State commit has been to Austin a few times, and an offer from Texas could cause him to open up his recruitment. Mondy can play inside at backer or on the edge as a pass rusher.
DB – Darrion Green – Woodrow Wilson
“Speedy” Green has been on the Texas radar since last spring, and he’ll be making another trip to Austin for junior day. He can play on either side of the ball, but probably projects as a corner at the next level. He’s high on Texas and Oklahoma at this point.
DB – Josh Thompson – Nacogdoches
Thompson is a teammate of Brandon Jones, and he’s starting to stand out as one of the top corners in the 2017 class. Contact between Texas and Thompson picked up recently, and he could be in line for an offer at junior day. If Texas does offer it wouldn’t be out of the question to see Thompson jump all over it.
DB – Kobe Boyce – Lake Dallas
Boyce is starting to pick up steam as one of the top corners in the state. He’s had a string of recent offers and has been in contact with Texas coaches. There’s some thought Boyce could be in line for an offer this week, and if that happens he’s almost a slam dunk to commit.
OL – Matthew Huhn – San Antonio Jay
Huhn is a massive OL prospect flying under the radar right now. Texas has a few other targets in front of him, but keep an eye on Huhn as a prospect for down the line.
DE - Bryan Jones – Madison Prep (Louisiana)
Jones is a teammate of Texas signee Malcolm Roach, and his film looks good enough to justify an offer. With Roach already on board, look for Texas to lead if that happens, but never count out LSU for a Louisiana kid.
DE – Earnest Brown – Denton Ryan
The newest Texas offer doesn’t know much about the program or college football in general. Texas is one of his biggest offers, so they have a chance to create some distance this weekend.
LB - Mohamed Sanogo – Plano West
Sanogo might be a victim of crowded numbers at the linebacker position, but the Plano West prospect can flat out play. If Texas does offer they should sit pretty high for Sanogo.
DB – Derrick Tucker – Manvel
Tucker has been close to committing a few times, and Texas is among his top schools along with Houston. Reggie Hemphill will be working on Tucker in his remaining months at Manvel, and Texas could get him locked down this week. Tucker has a good relationship with Clay Jennings who was recruiting him at Arkansas.
