At this point it would be gravy. As of the now, the already strong 2016 is stronger than it was this time last week. Got an instant game changer at a skill position, got oline depth, and an athlete to mold.
I agree with almost everything that you said with the exception of Hudson. Going into this, he was the one that felt like the only sure thing. He along with Devin are game changers. I'm all for building depth, but coming away from this w/o Hudson would be disappointing, especially if he becomes a sooner. Cobb would be 3rd on my wishlist, but due to his father, I never got my hopes up. Either way, we're better than we were last week, but I'd be nice to put a cherry on top with Hudson.

Seriously, I just got pissed reading this. Outside of the WNBA women's sports doesn't have a place after college unless they are good enough to make the Olympics. These are young women who are there to compete but to also get an education. Just offer her a ride, yes, she would be taking the spot of a more deserving athlete, but maybe she is the more deserving student.

Then again, we offered D'onta Foreman in an effort to get his brother Armanti, now look at what we got, a badass RB who will go pretty high in the NFL draft and will likely lead our offense next year. Maybe if we get Patrick we see his sister going to the Olympics or Bringing home Big 12 titles. Either way, she is worth the shot.

Maybe she won't qualify academically and that's why she hasn't been offered. Or perhaps she's not good enough for the track team, which is one of the better athletic programs on campus. There could also be a dearth of track scholarships to be offered.

Yes, at the end of the day he needs to win but the wins will come. His track record speaks for itself and its no secret that Texas hasn't had a QB good enough to produce consistent wins. Once we get a good established QB it's gonna be hell unleashed on the rest of the Big 12.

He clearly made a mistake with the offensive coaching (Watson didn't fit) the last two years but I think he's too smart and too hard of a worker to not get this figured out this year.

Please do the world a favor. Do not forget.
Do not forget why the Longhorns were able to add offensive lineman Patrick Hudson to its 2016 recruiting class.
While most of the talk today will be of recruiting and the addition of Hudson, the larger focus should not stray from the victims and the circumstances that brought us to this point. Society can not lose sight of the greater problem that led to this -- the out-of-control culture on the Baylor football team.
I know this is a sports message board. And things like sexual assault are not what I'm paid to comment on. Yet I feel I have a responsibility to stand up and say what I believe.
Things like what transpired at Baylor are what happens when good people turn a blind eye, when people don't raise a stink soon enough or perhaps when they allow themselves to be bullied out of speaking up.
To me, no person is bigger or more important than another, not in the eyes of humanity.
So while Pat Hudson certainly means more to the Texas football team, he doesn't mean more to humanity as a whole than any of the multiple women who were assaulted in Waco.
Somehow. Some way. Just don't forget.
Because if society as a whole (more than just the folks at Baylor) doesn't learn from this, history is destined to repeat itself.

That seems to be the consensus in the media. But I don't have a strong enough opinion on the topic to say if it was or wasn't.
Here's what I know that no one I know of has published thus far:
Texas came within an inch of getting Vandy's Tim Corbin more than a week ago. Corbin was Texas' first choice and first call.

Does Charlie Strong's recruiting success potentially buy him more time if the Horns have less-than-expected production on the field this year?
I'm told the answer is yes. With appropriate caveats.
1. The decision makers want to see if these recruits actually live up to the hype to determine if there really is a light at the end of the tunnel. In other words, are these recruits really as good as Strong and staff are portraying them to be?
2. The decision makers want to see more points scored from the offense, at least the start of something that looks like it can and will compete nationally in due time.
In January, I would have told you that Strong probably needed to win eight to keep his job. I think that number is still a safe bet. I think Texas should win at least that many this season.
But I could see seven wins being enough if those other pieces of the puzzle are also in place.
Given the talent on hand and its relative youth, Texas is setting itself up for a serious run at a Big 12 title in 2017.

Boosters want to see points, the defense get back to being a typical Strong defense and no more blowouts.

I think Moses is the kid who had some Houston video done of him put up on this thread. They put LBs against RBs between a specific width and he grabbed seemingly every RB with ease. Really, really easy.

I dont know how good or shifty the RBs were supposed to be but he never got faked while a number of other Lbs whiffed.

USC and tOSU had some past great linebacker groups. In 2005 the tOSU group was probably the best defense Vince faced that whole year and that was primarily due to their linebackers.

USC had a group that if I'm not mistaken all 3 were 1st round draft picks. Clay Mathews Jr was one of them.

If we can get that level of linebacking, coupled with the level of DB we have always gotten, you can bet we will dominate Big 12 offenses.

I think Moses is the kid who had some Houston video done of him put up on this thread. They put LBs against RBs between a specific width and he grabbed seemingly every RB with ease. Really, really easy.

I dont know how good or shifty the RBs were supposed to be but he never got faked while a number of other Lbs whiffed.

I get that it's Alabama, but I don't see Tennison fitting in that offense. Outside of the title game, they don't use tight ends the way Tennison will like. I'm drinking the kool-aid with this guy. Someone whom seems pretty connected from following:



i am not a football player, not a coach, nor much of anything else related to football beyond a highly educated and experienced fan.

But, I will say this, I got a look at the freshmen in person and they are absolutely gigantic. You don't need to be a football coach to know that 15 guys over 300 lbs is unusual. "They are getting into shape quick and have a very tight bond".

The last thing I will say is that the shark is a total monster....easily the biggest freshman lb I have ever seen. He is also incredibly polite, charming and charismatic. Future leader....probably in football but in like for sure. Easy to see why he wanted to be with malik.

I am hearing Porter may be the leader of the class. Can play today, totally ripped. Shane has been well chronicled.

Ehlinger threw a pick six on his first throw of the game and failed to toss any touchdowns. Most of his passes were on short routes. He hit a couple of intermediate routes but didn't produce any big plays. Ehlinger had an opportunity to lead his team on a game-winning drive, but Fly Rush fell short in a 13-6 loss.
