LB Anthony Hines of Plano East talks about UT (24/7):
“Texas is definitely one of my top schools,” Hines said. “I love Coach (Charlie) Strong and what he’s doing there. The facilities are great and the people are great. Austin is a great city, and the education is great.”
“I just hope to see plenty of young kids getting the opportunity to show what they can do,” Hines said. “That’s something unique about Texas is that they allow freshmen to come in and play early. It’s a big factor.”
“I was actually just talking to Jeffrey McCulloch,” Hines said. “He just told me that it’s the right place to be. It’s a smart choice. I’ve been talking to him, and I’ve talked to Malik (Jefferson) about it as well.”

“The reason I really like Texas is Coach (Charlie) Strong and the way he runs his program,” Browning said. “I like how he keeps everybody in line. He helps you mature as a man. I also like the academic support that they provide for the students.”
“Coach BJ and Coach Strong talk to me a lot, but lately, I’ve been really talking to Coach Jennings,” Browning said. “I’ve known him for a while. Arkansas was one of the first schools to offer me. He’s really good people and he knows my track coach. We have a really good relationship.”
“Texas has some great linebackers,” Browning said. “If I went there it could be a dynamic duo with Malik (Jefferson), I guess you could say. I’m just looking forward to seeing them this season and how Coach BJ is helping them develop. I’m not worried about seeing them win. I want to see how the linebackers develop.”

From our friends at the paper, Hookem.com:
Texas coach Charlie Strong spent the first day after spring break talking to the university faculty council inside the Main Building. His confident tone Monday was striking.
Strong touched on several program cornerstones, including the importance of academics and his appreciation of UT faculty members. The coach made it clear that all faculty members are welcome to attend practices, and that they should report when players miss class. A 5 a.m. running session awaits truants.
“You think about a degree from the University of Texas and how important it is,” Strong said. “For some of them, their parents didn’t have this opportunity. I tell them all the time, you’re not going to waste this opportunity.”
Strong then went into his usual breakdown of the roster. On the quarterback situation, he ranked the contenders as such: Tyrone Swoopes, Jerrod Heard, Shane Buechele and Kai Locksley. He wants someone to be a clear-cut winner going into the summer.
But Strong, who spoke with a tad more oomph than he normally does with reporters, is clearly excited about the recent recruiting class — ranked 11th nationally by 247Sports’ composite ratings — and what it may signal going forward. In his mind, back-to-back losing seasons are a thing of the past.
“What’s going to happen when we flip this thing? Where are we going to be then?,” he told the crowd of about a hundred faculty members. “You think about what we’re doing right now, what’s going to happen when we really get it turned?
“They might as well move out of the way, because we are going to steamroll everyone,” he added. “That’s going to happen.”
The coach is clearly pumped about a rematch with Notre Dame this fall at Royal-Memorial Stadium on Sept. 3. The Irish walloped the Longhorns 38-3 (http://www.hookem.com/story/notre-dame-38-texas-3-horns-suffer-worst-opening-loss-since-1988/) in South Bend, Ind., last season.
“I love that we open with Notre Dame. I really do love that,” Strong said. “We were embarrassed up there last year. I tell our players all the time, what bothers me more than anything, when we get the support that we get, we go out and don’t play up to our ability. That’s what bothers me.
“We have so much support,” he added, “and there’s so many people who have so much passion for Texas football. There’s no reason for us to go let them down.”
What’s fueling his optimism?
“Right now, our message is ‘Believe,’” Strong said. “You have to believe in yourself before anyone will ever believe in you. It’s all about that — believe in yourself, believe you get it done, believe you can be the best person, the best student. All that works together and it works together as a team. There’s no reason for that not to happen.”
Perrin on realignment: Speaking to faculty members after Strong, UT athletic director Mike Perrin addressed conference realignment for the first time publicly. He said the current stability is based on TV contracts, many running through the 2024-25 academic year.
“I think there will be another round of conference realignment when those contracts come up, because the funding model for conference monetary distributions are determined by in large by cable television,” Perrin said.
Perrin noted how news reports describe the growing trend of cord-cutting in U.S. homes as people shift to online streaming.
“Whether there will be similar ability to monetize alternative distributions, such as iPads and smart phones, I don’t know,” Perrin said. “I’ve got to believe that smarter minds than mine will figure out how to do that selling subscriptions or something.”
Briefly: Texas returns to the practice field on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The team’s pro timing day for NFL scouts is scheduled for Wednesday.

“I’ve been talking to Coach Williams a lot,” Manning said. “We haven’t talked a lot about the offense, but he likes my film and the way I play. He said I would be a great fit for what they’re trying to do.”
“I’m interested to see what the new system is going to look like this season,” he said. “I want to see if they can get it turned around on offense.”

DE Alexander Duke of Bellaire is still on Texas' radar (24/7):
“If I hear from Coach (Brick) Haley or Coach (Vance) Bedford again, then I likely visit," Duke said.
“(Haley) said the coaching staff always looks forward to seeing me,” Duke said. “I got invited to Under The Lights last summer and did well, so they were going to watch me during the season. During the season, I got illegally chop blocked, and that broke my ankle.”
“I think Coach Strong will make it a winning program," Duke said. "He just needs a couple of years to get his recruits in.”
“I’m solid," he said. "They (Houston) show me nothing but love. I guess they believe in me even though I broke my ankle.”

TE Major Tennison talks about his visit to UT for spring practice (24/7):
“It went really well,” Tennison said. “I really enjoyed it. I watched practiced, talked to the coaches and hung out with them for a while. I flew down and flew right back, so I didn’t stay too long. But it was a lot of fun.”
“I got to talk to Coach Gilbert for a little while,” Tennison said. “He just kind of explained to me what’s going on and all that type of good stuff. Right now, they are having their tight ends do some H-Back stuff and motion out of the backfield."
“They were telling me about some packages that they are creating to flex the tight end out to wide receiver. I’m very comfortable with that because I’m used to doing that. But they were using the tight ends to block a lot out of the backfield, which I’m not accustomed to. I want to see what things look like in games.”
“I don’t know what term to put on my commitment right now,” Tennison said. “I grew up loving Texas, and I still love Texas. But right now, I’m very open to other schools. I’m going to visit a few schools and enjoy the process.”

“He told me I definitely have what it takes to play at the University of Texas, and I would be a key player.”
“I like Coach Mattox,” Farrar said. "He’s a great guy and a great coach. I had a previous relationship with him at Tulsa, so I knew him before he got to Texas. He actually offered me at Tulsa, too.”
“I’ll decide that (visiting UT) when the time comes,” Farrar said. “But as of now, I’m going to UCLA.”
“One thing I’ve wanted to do is experience something I haven’t experienced before,” he said. “I always tell myself in recruiting, if I leave the state of Texas, then it has to be worth it. UCLA is a place that is worth it.”

I still say this will be the last year we will have a QB problem. I'm hoping we are selective with how we pass the ball, basically run the QB (Swoops/Heard) and rely on our stable of running backs. That should open up play action pass to our Wrs.
Manage the offense, don't take sacks, and don't turn the ball over. Basically look like Alabama's offense.

Texas has the horses, they just have to be creative on offense in order to not rely on their stable of unreliable arms. Norvell showed some flashes of this.

Again, I must make this clear, this is the Charlie Strong team, he is 100% responsible for the product, if he can't get this team to win then it's time to get someone in hear who can.
If Tom Herman can take U of Houston recruits and beat FSU, that is the type of coach we need at Texas.

Yeah, for 7 years and counting at the gaudiest football program in the nation ...

Per TFB:
– JK Dobbins: La Grange (TX) Ohio State RB commit JK Dobbins and his mother will visit Columbus for the first time this weekend. After talking to JK and a source close to him, this visit is huge in terms of how much of a chance other schools have to flip him.
I expect to see JK back in Austin sometime either this spring or summer and RB coach Anthony Johnson hasn’t stopped recruiting Dobbins at all. Just wanted to pass along that this weekend is a big one in regards to Dobbin’ recruitment. – (Andrew

Practice notes (HD):
TEAM NOTES - THE EARLY ENROLLEES:
In speaking with a source close to the team, one thing that is a certainty regarding this offense will be the man snapping the ball: Zach Shackelford.
Mature beyond his years. (The guy is still 18.) We're told Zach has turned heads on the coaching staff and in the locker room.
“He’s extremely impressive," said our inside-the-program source, who will now be referred to as ITP. "He is working on being consistent with everything. But trust me, there’s no doubt who will be the starter going forward.”
Charlie Strong and his staff have done a fantastic job recruiting the type of offensive linemen the G-Force offense (formerly known as the Briles' offense) is going to require to be successful - technically sound with just the right amount of nasty.
We fully expect Shack to make the same impact his starting freshmen predecessors - LT Connor Williams and RG Patrick Vahe - made.
The other early enrollees have also made significant strides, and as Chip has noted, both WR Collin Johnson and QB Shane Buechele have really impressed ITP, “Collin has a very similar playing style to Burt. He’s a guy who will go up and fight for every 50/50 ball, and someone who is just naturally built to excel in this offense."
Meanwhile, ITP said, "Shane (Buechele) has absorbed the offense extremely quickly and is lethally accurate with the ball.”
RUNNING GAME GETTING AFTER IT:
The QB situation is still sorting itself out and could remain muddled into fall camp, which means the running game is going to have to be a force. Chip has said he thinks Chris Warren III and D'Onta Foreman should split reps and possibly line up together in a two-back set.
ITP agrees:
“Both Warren and Foreman look great. The running game is easily the best part of this offense right now, and I expect those guys [Foreman and Warren] to each ideally get around 20 carries a game. The change of pace running backs will fight for the rest of the carries.”
Interestingly enough, ITP cited Roderick Bernard as someone who is exceeding expectations in practice. Look for him to possibly get some reps at RB moving forward.
With the team going full-pads for the first time last Saturday, you have to take this with a grain of salt, but hearing that the running backs are looking good this early really gets the blood going. Remember, multiple Baylor players said that Chris Warren was their toughest opponent to tackle, and we personally cannot wait to see what another year in the weight room has turned him into.
This is easily one of the deepest stables of running backs UT has had in a long time, which says a lot about just how good these guys are.
When we asked about who appears to be a leader on the offense, ITP said, “No one has really stepped up to be that guy. I think the offense naturally looks to its quarterback for motivation, and while Connor Williams and other guys are technically leading, everyone is still waiting on a QB to emerge.”
As for tight ends, our source indicates Caleb Bluiett is receiving quite a few reps. When asked to estimate, “He’s probably out there for around 40-50% of the snaps, some at sniffer (fullback), some running routes.”
This has to be welcomed news to a guy like 2017 Texas TE commit Major Tennison, who was able to take in Texas' practice/scrimmage this past Saturday.
TURNING TO THE DEFENSE:
The defense has a lot of work to do, but ITP commended the secondary, “They communicate really well, and I think they might be the closest group of guys on the team.
"They’re learning how to adapt to this up-tempo style practice - just like the offense. But they’re doing a really good job of flying around and making plays.”
The defense has worked primarily in the nickel.
As for corrections being made when someone messes up, ITP indicates that GAs are on the field making corrections. This may not sound like the ideal way of coaching, but our source believes that the defense isn’t suffering because of it,
“There’s not a lot of time to coach, but it’s definitely enough time," ITP said. "The GA will point out the mistake. The player will internalize it, and then it’s time to go again.”
On his overall impression of the coaching staff, ITP said, “They are all very cohesive and working together very well. Everyone is excited about the direction the team is moving.”
THE KICKING GAME:
Michael Dickson has solidified himself as the starting punter this spring, showcasing a huge leg while simultaneously placing an emphasis on making that leg more consistent.
Yet, when Nick Jordan decided to forego his fifth year, the team was left with zero scholarships kickers and no experienced replacement.
This leaves important openings at place kicker and kickoff specialist, which one of the 3 currently competing kickers hopes to secure. So far, redshirt junior Mitchell Becker appears to be leading amongst the trio, followed by the redshirt freshman Jon Coppens and redshirt sophomore Evan Moore.
A source close to the team tells us that in field goal drills Becker has gone 11/15 with a long of 53. Coppens has gone 7/14, while Moore has gone only 4/7 (Moore has had one less day of practice). According to our source, all 3 guys seem to still be working out some kinks.
For Coppens and Moore, struggles with operation times (the time between when the ball is snapped to when it is kicked) are holding them back. Ideally, the time from snap to kick should be around 1.2-1.3 seconds, but Coppens and Moore are hovering more around the 1.5-1.6 seconds mark.
Becker has consistently been around half a second quicker than Nick Rose was last year, but as a result he sometimes can rush through his motion. We were told that although these may seem like minor details, they are “sometimes more important that the actual kick itself.”
Another issue for Coppens right now is his leg strength. Our source tells us that at last Tuesday’s practice Coppens missed short from 43 and 48 yards out.
During the scrimmage last Saturday, Becker got all of the reps as the place kicker. Although it is early, it appears he has the confidence of Coach Strong.
The last thing our source indicated to us was that they have not seen one single kickoff rep at practice. We believe it is safe to assume that Becker is also leading for this position because of the other two’s struggles with their leg strength.

Together this is at least 40 carries.
This means we are not going to get far behind in games, or if we do, we are giving up. These numbers mean we would clearly be winning games.

Good read, very promising, I think we are going to really surprise some people next year. Remember if we can let our running game do all the heavy lifting, all our QBs will need to do is keep the defense honest with the threat of hitting some deep balls. I'm encouraged when I read that Swoops is getting better at read option. He is a natural runner and should make things very tough on opposing defenses.
I would be all for letting swoops move the offense between the 20's and then turning the offense over to Buechele in the red zone. His passing ability will make it damn tough for defenses to stop our offense.

Would be nice if we come on "strong" by the end of the season. If OU, Baylor, and TCU all have tough teams again this could be difficult. But if they are perceived as much better than we are and we play em tough, who knows. We can't have the Notre Dame, TCU type loses again. Those are even worse than the OK St., Cal type loses IMO.

"I talked to my family about it for sure. I talked to my coach. They support my decision. I prayed about it, thought today was a good day to do it," Boyce said.
"First, it's the flagship school of the state. I wanted to stay close to home. And I knew if I went to Texas, it would benefit me in the long run. I just feel at home there."
"I just like what Charlie Strong is doing up there. He's come through a lot, been through a lot in the past year. I like what they did with their recruiting class in 2016, the last three days before signing day with all the commits," Boyce said. "I don't know what's going on up there, but I know something good is going on and it would be good to be a part of it."
"What I do well, people say I'm a long, athletic corner, very physical," Boyce said. "I make good plays on the ball. I have good speed. What I want to improve on is my speed. I want to be the fastest one out there no matter what. I want to get stronger too, be able to jam anyone I want, work on my hips. I have good hips, but not perfect. The 8 win threshold.
That's just the number I'm focusing on; 8 regular season wins.
I'm uncertain that 7-5 saves Strong's job, but obviously context of how he wins and loses will be important.
For example, he can't take any more 20-point blowouts and lose to the Iowa States.
Vito Corleone
04-04-2016, 08:27 AM
Context for last year needs to also be understood going into next season. Remember in the middle of some of those losses we have freshmen texting in the lockerroom questioning if they should be here.
That cannot happen again, it lead many to believing Strong had lost the team. As far as I'm concerned what saved his job last year was the way the team rallied around him for the Oklahoma game and the way they showed their love afterwards. That ended all discussion about him being fired after last year.
I don't know this AD like the last two I'm hoping he has the balls to pull the trigger if things go bad, but I also hope he has the wisdom to know when to do it. Be it 5-7 or 8-5, we need to judge the program on the season as a whole not just one or two games.

That's just the number I'm focusing on; 8 regular season wins.
I'm uncertain that 7-5 saves Strong's job, but obviously context of how he wins and loses will be important.
For example, he can't take any more 20-point blowouts and lose to the Iowa States.
Forgot that one. Put that in with the TCU, ND games. That's 3 absolutely awful displays.
Bolded is of course very important. We gotta pray for no injuries. Oline and Dline especially. And we need a couple of freshman to just be bust out good IMO other than Zach and Buechele. This is a lot to ask for. But keeping Strong and his recruiting along with playing good football happens NOW. This is a turning point season. Starting all over... Please no.

Wow, he looks like a beast. He hardly played at all last year though. That made me think he wasn't showing as much potential as we thought he had given how much Jefferson played.

I think it was more the mental side of the game than the physical. Getting a look at him now makes me fully believe the reports of him meeting Foreman/Warren in the hole and stopping them cold.

Opening notes
via IT- nahlin
Let me empty the notebook. I still have a lot of guys to go back and look up and take a look at, but here are the guys I gathered information on today.
OT WALKER LITTLE, EPISCOPAL
Justin will have some quotes from the player but I talked to his parents for a good bit. Great, intelligent people, who have a solid grasp on the process. Walker will indeed be at the Texas spring game. He'll visit Ole Miss starting this Friday. In May the family will check out Stanford. He has a couple siblings at Ole Miss, hence the interest in Oxford (Laremy Tunsil doesn't hurt either). In talking to the family this one is obviously pretty wide open. I'll maintain Texas has as good of a chance as any. Interestingly Walker had a good relationship with Joe Wickline so he's still getting to know Matt Mattox.
This will be a recruitment that's handled the right way. I don't expect any drama aside from where he ultimately decides. I can see anything from Texas to OOS at this point.
OT STEPHAN ZABIE, WESTLAKE
You want to talk about raw clay this is your guy. Because of his great size - 6-foot-5, 290 (or so) - and athleticism there's some real upside here. The size is constructed very well too.
I first saw him at Texas camp last July. Little did I know he had yet to play a down of organized football. This would explain his three false starts versus Southlake Carroll in his first game. I thought he played his sophomore year but he did not.
He says he hears from Coach Mattox, and I believe Bedford, quite often. I asked him if Coach Ehlinger is in his ear. He laughed and said indeed Sam is on him pretty good. I can definitely see him earning an offer from UT.
Right now his top two are Texas A&M and Oklahoma. Both have offered. I get the feeling he's waiting on Texas.
If he does end up in the class it won't excite some but with the understanding of his tremendous growth curve and starter kit I'd be doing a little fist pump.
OT GRAYSON REED, CY CREEK
I'm picking A&M at this point but I still think the highly rated o-lineman ends up at Texas. Right now he's loving Aggie OL coach Jim Turner and I think that will push the Aggies over the top. For now.
Surprisingly Turner has told him he sees Reed as a guard. This according to an A&M writer I talked to today. I think he's a RT but he's hefty enough to hold up at guard.
Don't be surprised if this one doesn't break UT's way but don't go getting all hysterical if the Aggies win this one. February's a long way off.
Speaking of which. I spent a good chunk of time talking to a player committed elsewhere.
2013 was Christian Morgan.
2014 was Duke Catalon and Lo Joe.
2015 needs no introduction.
2016 I didn't have a favorite.
My 2017 is....
RB JK DOBBINS, LA GRANGE
How do you not love a kid who doesn't skip leg day? 405x10 on squats if you need him. He came in at 199 pounds and I had a handful of people talk about how well built he is. He also ran a 4.44. Remember those concerns about him losing a step as he stacked on weight? Unfounded. His shuttle sucked for him at 4.4 but he said he slipped. Anyway it's impossible to run 4.44 and not be quick.
He just returned from Ohio State late Saturday night. He spoke in terms of 'we' and 'our class' when talking about the Buckeyes. He said there was a real family atmosphere and the campus reminded him of Texas quite a bit.
Obviously UT isn't going quietly and he knows it. Strong has personally made him aware he'll be recruited until the end. After talking with JK at length I now feel like he could leave the state, but I still think it's going to be Texas when it's all said and done. Like Erick Fowler before him, it just makes too much sense. Also like Fowler, Strong is handling this one and JK says, "we talk all the time."
Ohio State has a lot going for it. I told him he can't be that good since he's only OSU's 4th highest rated recruit. He laughed and stated, "yeah, one of the guys above me is an offensive lineman."
He told me he had concerns about the Texas depth chart. He liked the sell from Ohio State that he could be Percy Harvin. Urban Meyer tells everyone that but he might be on to something here. Dobbins more views him as a smaller Zeke Elliott. He just wants his carries, it's not a 'he's afraid to compete!' situation.
Dobbins is going to try to make it to the spring game but he has to find out when his prom is. He said, "prom might be the 9th or the 16th." I said, "the 9th?! That's next week. You should know this by now." Finding a date probably won't be hard but how do you fit that dude in a tux?
The door is plenty cracked but there's work to be done.
JK added he thinks OSU is going to pull Jeffrey Okudah to which I replied, "I disagree but you already made me wrong once." For now.
LB KENNETH MURRAY, ELSIK
He's visited in the past and he's a fine player. The staff certainly likes him and the communication is pretty open. Murray showed up and predicted he'd run a 4.6 and he did. A buddy of mine who was coaching out there today was raving about him and his build.
If things go sideways with Baron Browning, Murray's a name to watch. He'd fit as a will at Texas.
SCUTTLE ON MARVIN WILSON
I caught up with someone in the football world who knows Marvin: "He told me he a while back he wants to stay close to home. I know people are talking about him going out of state but with his family situation I think he stays home. Might want to tell your guys at Texas."
This jibes with what I heard and wrote a while back. It's good to hear it from someone else. I'm prepared to say Texas is in this recruitment as much as everyone else and UT needs to play up the family angle.
Marvin smashed everyone he faced from what I saw. He's too quick and too powerful for high school players.
OL AUSTIN DECULUS, CY-FAIR
This is one big ass kid. He weighed in at 325 I think and he's all of it. Very broad shoulders. He'll be a guard in college.
He's very highly rated but unfortunately he told me flat out he wants to go OOS. He listed LSU, Bama, Georgia, Michigan. Smart money is on LSU.
Fun kid to talk to but nothing doing here.
RECRUITING TE
- Name to watch is Katy's Parker Eichenberger. He says he'll be at the spring game and then maybe again this summer. He attended junior day and he's in contact with Jeff Traylor. Look for Texas to cover its flank with Major Tennison (looking okay there), who also picked up a Georgia offer this week, but UT would also like to take two."
Seen him play a lot and know the family.
Parker would be a great get. I think he is underrated. He is a very good blocker, and while he did not catch a lot of passes, he was not thrown to a lot. Not a real knock on his ability as Katy had many weapons on offense. He caught most everything thrown his way. Great kid with a good head on his shoulders. Would be a great asset to the team. Hope he gets an offer.

NewSaturday's scrimmage notes From Chip:
* Full-blown tackle scrimmage today around 10:30 am to 12:30 pm with a lot of high school prospects competing at Texas Relays looking on.
* WR John Burt did not take part in the scrimmage because he's running hurdles in the Texas Relays today.
Media was not allowed to watch the scrimmage, but from those who were in attendance, here's what we were told:
* S Dylan Haines left the field (and did not return) with what appeared to be a knee injury.
* OL Alex Anderson also left the field (and did not return) with what appeared to be a nasty ankle sprain.
* Offense was running high-tempo and got in 165 plays during the two-hour scrimmage.
* The offense appeared to get the better of the defense overall, although CB Antwuan Davis recorded 2 INTs and Malik Jefferson had a couple big stops near the goal line.
* Tyrone Swoopes worked with the offense first and then Shane Buechele (http://www.hornsports.com/forums/topic/11703-anything-spring-footballdylan-haines-injured-2-weeks-till-april-16th-orange-white-game/page-29#). No other QBs got reps.
* Swoopes ran for a couple TDs and also threw a TD pass to Caleb Bluiett.
* Buechele ran several bootlegs and was the better passer on the day. He threw a TD pass on a seam route inside the 20 to Lorenzo Joe. Buechele had a couple deep passes that were dropped by receivers, including one in the corner of the end zone.
* DeAndre McNeal caught a number of passes - as did Bluiett. Offense was focusing on the tight end a lot today.
* Collin Johnson (http://www.hornsports.com/forums/topic/11703-anything-spring-footballdylan-haines-injured-2-weeks-till-april-16th-orange-white-game/page-29#) caught the third-most passes on the day (behind McNeal and Bluiett) with Burt out of action. Johnson caught an impressive, 20-yard curl route from Swoopes.
* Also hearing Armanti Foreman had a good overall week of practice and is paying much closer attention to detail, especially when it comes to downfield blocking.
* Chris Warren ran the ball well, and D'Onta Foreman scored on a TD run while grabbing his abdominal muscle. Charlie Strong told him he was fine and to get in shape.
* Roderick Bernard continues to play a big role as a change of pace RB. Today he got mostly jet sweeps but made big plays.
* The field goal unit did not have a good day. Apparently, there were problems with the snaps that didn't improve until Jak Holbrook apparently replaced Kyle Ashby.
* Both kickers - Evan Moore and Jon Coppens - struggled with FGs, even when the snap was OK, and coaches are already looking into transfer candidates (possibly from Australia - where Texas found P Michael Dickson).

24/7 reporting DE Taquon Graham of Temple has UT back on top:
“Texas is at the top of the list because I’m a Texas boy – and growing up watching them on TV almost every Saturday when they play, it’s something you want to be a part of,” Graham said. “Especially because they’re a team on the come up.”
“That is something (playing early) that I’ve always wanted to do, and that’s a goal to aim for,” Graham said about getting playing time as a freshman. “I’m not the kind of guy trying to just sit back and learn – I’m a guy that likes to attack things. I want to be the guy that makes plays and actually contributes to the team.”
“She (Graham's mother) really liked the visit,” Graham said. “She knows I would be in good hands and that she would be able to watch every home game. She’s comfortable with me going there.”
“I think I’ve changed my mind to actually do it (make a commitment) sooner than later," Graham said. “It’ll probably be the end of this month or early next month.”
