Big 12 votes to have a football conference championship game starting in 2017.
Rumor is the season will be split in half (2 divisions). All cross divisional games will be played at the beginning of conference play, so there will be a minimum of 6 weeks between rematch.

Coach Grobe mentioned in his press conference ALL assistants will remain on staff and he's unaware of any wrongdoing outside of Briles.
They are hiring a bunch of old senile men to take care of a job with out a clue as to what has happened. We got a totally inept school. Grobe does not have the power to choose his staff? And he takes the job? Wtf... He should have access to all information as well. This is really happening.
Asked whether he has been assured by Baylor officials that the assistants are not implicated in the Pepper Hamilton findings and won't be penalized, Grobe said: "I know of absolutely no issues, no problems. That doesn't mean that there aren't. I would honestly tell you, I've not heard of any problems."
Grobe said he does have the power as interim coach to hire and fire assistants if he thinks he needs to make changes.

4 more women yet to come forward
This week, I spoke to Paula Lavigne from ESPN’s “Outside the Lines.” She told me of at least four women that she knows of, personally, who have yet to come forward with allegations of assault at Baylor. Their alleged attackers are football players who haven’t been named.
As bad as it is at Baylor, the ugliness could be far from over.
ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, who also joined my satellite radio show this week, said Baylor coaches could face criminal charges, including obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence, as a result of their attempts to cover up these crimes or hinder investigations.

"........Records show 20-year-year Dakota Devon Allen was arrested late Thursday on a charge of burglary of a habitation, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
Jail records don't list attorney information for Allen, who was released on $5,000 bond.
Allen, 18-year-old Trace Keaton Ellison, of Frisco Centennial, and 20-year-old Robert James Castaneda are accused of breaking into a Lubbock home sometime between Dec. 20 and Jan. 9 and stealing a gun safe containing at least seven guns.
Ellison and Castaneda were arrested previously.
Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury kicked the trio off the team last month for "failure to uphold student-athlete expectations."

Bobby Burton (24/7) going all in on what happened at Baylor in regards to Duvernay's letter of intent:
I am told by a reputable source that Baylor assistants committed an NCAA infraction when recruiting Devin Duvernay by evaluating him too many times in the spring of 2015 (evaluating Duvernay three times instead of the NCAA allowed upon two times). Only Devin Duvernay, not his twin brother Donovan who also signed with the Bears, was affected because one of the evaluations came at a track meet that Devin participated in but Donovan did not.
I've sent a set of questions outlining these and other issues to Nick Joos of Baylor's media relations department via email and left two voicemails. I've received no return call or email at this time.
I've been in this business for more than 20 years. Never have I ever seen a school fail to submit an LOI/NLI for a blue chip player that sent one to the school. Maybe it's happened somehow, somewhere.
So was it really a clerical error or "mix up" at all?
By not following through and submitting Devin Duvernay's letter of intent, Baylor likely subverted possible NCAA penalties stemming from Duvernay's recruitment. A call to the NLI office about this matter was also not returned.
For their part, the Duvernay family was completely unaware that Baylor did not submit Devin's NLI.
If Baylor and/or the NLI respond, I will add to this post giving them the opportunity to respond.
A recruiting violation exists whether or not they sign with the school, not sure how failing to send in the NLI subverts anything. Also don't think the story is correct.

“It meant a lot,” Joshua said. “My mom graduated from here. That plays a really big factor if we do decide to play at The University of Texas.”
“The chances are very high (that we go to the same college),” Joshua said. “For one, it would be easier for my parents. For two, it’s just the bond that we’ve built since birth. I couldn’t see myself going anywhere without him. If we were to go to the same school, that would be a pretty scary sight.”

(NSIAP) Stole this from another poster on another board-
Don't know if this was mentioned before, but there are rumors that OTL is going to drop another H-bomb in the form of a story about a gang rape by Baylor football players. Take a close look at the first excerpted sentence from the summary of the PH report if you haven't seen it yet:

How does the Big 12 get involved in this crap? It's gone too far. I expect the Big 12 probably can't just throw them out but what about statements from the commish to the press about BU coming clean? Is it not time?
Maybe it's a question of who takes the first shot at Baylor and individuals? Waiting on court hammers to fall first?
Putting that letter in the Austin American Statesman.... Why? Signed by distinguished (self appointed) Baylor alumni... Holy shit.
BTW
Thanks for all the documents and updates to all posters. When Briles first directly contradicted the ex Boise coach's statement I thought that needed to be clarified. It never was and Baylor went along their merry way last season. This is why it's so important for the press to stay on this crap BU is pulling.

Update on 2018 CB Anthony Cook from Houston Lamar after receiving a UT offer yesterday (24/7):
“That was a big offer because it was one I was waiting on,” Cook said. “I know that UT doesn’t like to offer early, so I was really excited. After the camp, Coach (Clay) Jennings called my mom and told us. It was amazing. We were both excited.”
“I don’t have a Top 5, but they would definitely be in it,” Cook said. “I like Coach (Clay) Jennings. They do a lot of press and allow you to show off your abilities. It’s DBU. If you play with good defensive backs, you can become a better defensive back.”
“I had a short conversation with him (Strong), but he said he watched my film and liked my ability,” Cook said. “I like how he is turning the program around. It can only get better. I also like that he’s real and doesn’t take it too easy on his players.”
“I talked to (Cuffee) about the program,” Cook said. “Basically, he tells me that it’s a great program. But he told me that I don’t have to commit and to enjoy the process. He’s the big cousin I always looked up to. I never played with him, so it would be amazing if I did.”

Parrish Cobb – Cobb’s father has been outspoken about obtaining his son’s release, and rightly so since it was promised to him on the condition of a meeting with new Baylor coach Jim Grobe. The word last week was that Cobb would be headed to Oklahoma once he was released, but I was told yesterday that Texas is back in play, and Cobb is starting to warm to the idea. The reason I’m told, is that some of the incoming freshmen are doing their best sales pitch to get Cobb to Austin. I was told Brandon Jones is leading the charge to land Cobb, along with his cousin Eric Cuffee. Combine that with Cobb’s reported love for Clay Jennings, and Texas might be able to secure themselves the best pure cover corner from last year’s class.

DE Ondario Robinson of Hutto recaps his UT visit (24/7):
“It was great,” Robinson said. “Some of my favorite parts were sitting down with Coach (Charlie) Strong and Coach (Vance) Bedford, seeing some of the incoming freshmen that I played against last year workout and talking with some of the players.”
“Coach Bedford mostly emphasized that it took long to offer because they evaluate you in every aspect of life,” Robinson said. “It’s on the field and off the field. He also talked about how I would fit into the defense with my playing style."
“Coach Strong emphasized the level his players are held at, the core values of the team and what the team is all about.”

“Pretty much every day,” Murray said. “In fact, I just got done talking to Coach (Vance) Bedford and Coach (Brick) Haley. And I talked to coach (Charlie) Strong a couple of days ago, so I’ve been talking to them pretty heavily since I got the offer.”
“I really don’t know right now," he said. "Everyone is equal right now. I haven’t sat down and made a list of rankings. I want it (a commitment) to be before the season just because of my early enrollment. If not before the season, then sometime after the season.”
“It’s been picking up a lot,” Murray said.. “I’ve got a total of 20 offers right now, so it’s just been picking up a lot, and I’m really thankful for it.”
“They’ve spoken with me about playing all of the linebacker positions,” Murray said. “They think I’m athletic enough to play all of them. It’s just a matter of which one I like the most.”

Interesting note from Jeff Howe on Jake Raulerson and possible Baylor refugees:
"Sounds like it'll be SMU or North Carolina (for Raulerson) with a chance of Michigan getting back into the picture. I wanted to check back again to see if Texas was an option and it's not. That's important to note because the Longhorns appear to be trying to keep as many open spots as possible in case Baylor signees who are released (at some point) want to come and the staff has an interest in taking them. Two offensive linemen could very well be joining the program in that regard."
Seems like Howe thinks we will have interest in Urquidez. This makes sense to me. Staff seems to prefer Hudson and Urquidez over Raulerson.

Bobby Burtons Thursday write up (24/7):
In a week where additional rape and abuse allegations mounted and further player dismissals occurred, the Baylor Bears still won't do the right thing.
Baylor continues to not take the appropriate action and give a NLI release to the recruits who want one and have filed for one.
With all due respect to every Baylor fan - and despite what some opposing fans might think, there are certainly many more good Baylor fans than bad - every Baylor fan in the world recognizes the black eye now associated with its school and its football program. And that bad name is well deserved.
The Bears' head coach harbored criminals and sex offenders within his program. And he didn't do enough to deter the actions of multiple players.
Yet coach Art Briles denied any such thing during the recruiting process which signed those very players.
So it's not only disingenuous to hold a recruit to an NLI. It's downright manipulative and potentially causing further harm.
For Baylor or the NCAA to hold recruits -- or ANY student -- accountable to such a document given the new set of facts now in existence is asinine, especially when Baylor refuses to release full details of what occurred on its campus and the findings of Pepper Hamilton.
This is one of the reasons why Baylor is setting itself up for ultimate failure as an institution. It's why so many reasonable people around the country fail to believe that Baylor is accepting FULL responsibility (and the subsequent consequences) for their previous actions.
Baylor is clinging to the idea that "privacy" and the "letter of the law" are the right things to do.
But as others like the Dallas Morning News have written, hiding behind the claim of privacy only goes so far. Names can be redacted so that all information can be laid bare and a true accounting can be had by all.
As for the recruits, the letter of the law (or in this case the NLI) is merely a guide. It is not what institutions should aspire to.
Institutions are expected to look out for the welfare of its students and student-athletes. Yet instead of simply releasing recruits from their LOIs, Baylor seemingly intends to keep them locked up as long as the NLI allows.
It's yet another shining example of poor decision-making by the powers-that-be at Baylor.
Baylor is once again putting the welfare of its football program ahead of what is simply just and moral. That's exactly the kind of thinking that got Baylor here in the first place.
**
Here's my ranking of the QBs in the Big 12 going in to the summer:
10. Whoever starts for Kansas State
There are three candidates for the job, including last year's starter Joe Hubener. But two other QB were actually leading the race heading into the spring game when Hubener reportedly outshined them. I don't think whoever the eventual QB for K-State is will end up being the least productive in the conference, but given the uncertainty, this is where I'm starting them out on the list.
9. Ryan Willis - Kansas
A true sophomore, Willis became the starter late in the year. He showed significantly more ability than his predecessor.
8. Shane Buechele - Texas
Buechele emerged from spring camp as the clear leader at the position for the Horns. But he is terribly young. Time will tell if Buechele can adapt and thrive not only in college ball but in a new-look Texas offense. He could easily end up higher on this list by the end of the year.
7. Joel Lanning - Iowa State
Lanning has a pro arm, pro size and good athleticism and mobility. He'll have to put it all together. He's shown glimpses of being terrific but has also been erratic at times.
6. Kenny Hill - TCU
I'm assuming Hill gets the call here for the Horned Frogs. He has legit talent and showed some success in his freshman year at A&M before cratering to the pressures of college football.
5. Skyler Howard - West Virginia
Howard may be the least talented starting quarterback in the entire league. But he's one of the smartest quarterbacks, too. He doesn't have a big arm, but he takes just enough shots vertically to open up the underneath stuff. And he knows how to move the chains.
4. Mason Rudolph - Oklahoma State
Longhorn fans only saw an abridged version of Rudolph last year because of an in-game injury he suffered to his throwing hand. But Rudolph throws the deep and intermediate balls very well and has just enough athleticism to help himself get out of trouble in the pocket.
3. Seth Russell/Jarrett Stidham - Baylor
If Russell is able to keep Stidham on the bench, then more power to him. Stidham is as talented as they come. Stidham had the best TD-to-INT ratio in the conference last year while completing 68-percent of his passes. By comparison, Russell completed 60-percent of his throws.
2. Baker Mayfield - Oklahoma
A Heisman finalist and only rated No. 2 in the conference? Mayfield is very talented and extraordinarily accurate (68-percent completion rate). And he got better as the year went on. He's basically a Drew Brees starter kit. But Mayfield also had a strong running game to support him and a group of receivers as good as any in the conference.
1. Patrick Mahomes - Texas Tech
Mahomes has the arm strength and accuracy to make any throw there is. And he has exceptional field vision and a special sense of awareness in the pocket. Consider that Mahomes was sacked 12 fewer times than Mayfield last year even though Mahomes had 80 more pass attempts. If he has the type of year I think he can have, we might be looking at the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft.
BTW - for comparison sake, I would have put Swoopes as No. 10 in the conference and Heard at No. 9.
So even though Buechele is better, I'm not sure he'll be in the top half of the conference by the end of the year given the other QBs in the conference. He'll have to get significant help from the running game and his OL.

LB Kenneth Murray of Fort Bend Elkins discusses his unofficial visit to UT on Saturday (24/7):
“My visit went really well,” Murray said. “Some of my favorite parts were just sitting down with the coaches and joking around with them. It was really cool and my family really liked what they had to say."
“I think Texas is heading in the right direction as far as being great again. I don’t care about wins this season. I just want to see some overall improvement.”
“He actually told me not worry about them or recruiting,” Murray said. “He told me that I would always have a scholarship with the Texas Longhorns and to go out and focus on being the best player for my team. I liked that. I respect him and so does my family.”
“The visits were about the same except A&M had some good barbecue,” Murray said with a laugh. “But I talked to Coach (Kevin) Sumlin the same amount of time as I did with Coach Strong. Both had a great family environment. Texas just has a different atmosphere. I don’t know how to explain it.”

"Trip went great for DD -- I think he wants to play for the Longhorns. However, its not that simple. His brother has yet to be released and who knows if he will. His parents want the pair to enroll together so unless they change their stance it will be a while. Texas will take both players if they want to come. TCU is working the negative recruiting angle in a major way and I think that is having a bit of an impact for the family overall....."

WACO -- A source confirmed to KCEN Monday that plans were in place to suspend Baylor Head Football Coach Art Briles for the 2016 season but bring him back for the 2017 season.
A source told KCEN-HD's Nikki Laurenzo, players were told there are plans to "suspend Briles."
The Baylor Board of Regents announced last month that Briles was suspended with the intent to terminate related to the University's and Athletic Department's handling of sexual assault cases.
However, Chip Brown with HornsDigest.com reported that the regents would vote Monday night on whether to bring Briles back in 2017.
A source told KCEN-HD Sports Reporter Jessica Morrey, there's "an unbelievable amount of pressure on the board," right now.
The Board of Regents fired Ken Starr as the University's President. He later resigned as chancellor but will remain at the school as a law professor.
Athletic Director, Ian McCaw, also resigned in the wake of the scandal.

Devin Duvernay per ESPN (insider):
Gerry was able to interview him and wrote this story
It's an insider piece, so I won't paste the whole article. To summarize, Strong is putting the hard sell on him, obviously, and a lot of current players are in his ear trying to get him here. But the tidbit at the end has him as likely ending up at UT or TCU, Ok seems to be a distant third and he hasn't bothered completing an application to them. Not earth shattering, as I believe the mods have said roughly the same - that it will come down to TCU or UT. But it was insinuated by Devin himself to be the case.
Sounds like Strong made a good sell, so now we wait.

From the Football Brainiacs:
– Patrick Hudson: After some reports from the Baylor side, there have been some questions about whether Hudson is still pursuing a release from his NLI. I checked in with a family member of Hudson’s and a person close to the family. Both confirmed that Hudson is still seeking a release and right now it’s just a waiting game.
The plan, I am told, remains for Hudson to enroll elsewhere once he receives his release.
Additionally, you may have seen some reports/rumors regarding the possibility of Briles returning. I believe I’ve tracked down where those are coming from. A source close to one of the players seeking release told me that one of the members of the Baylor coaching staff told the player (after he filed for release) that Baylor is “working on getting Briles job back”. The source said the player and his family do not believe the claims. – (Super K)
– Devin Duvernay: Former Baylor WR signee Devin Durvernay was Texas’ biggest visitor over the weekend, and according to a source close to Duvernay, his visit went very well. As you all know Devin is free to enroll anywhere anytime however he is waiting on his brother who will require a NLI release. How soon that release comes will determine when Devin is able to arrive and will likely impact whether he’s ready to see the field this year.
During the Texas first pass at recruiting Devin, Texas was not prepared to take his brother, Donovan. However, after talking with some people on the Texas side of things, it sounds like the Longhorns will take both Devin and Donovan if they choose to come to Texas. Having to wait for Donovan’s release is going to give other schools, specifically TCU, time to help sway the decision on where these two end up. – (Andrew)
– Devonaire Clarington: I know some of you likely saw some tweets from 2015 Texas TE signee Devonaire Clarington yesterday of pictures of him on Texas’ campus. I just wanted to let everyone know that he was just up there with some friends, not on a visit to Texas. Clarington recently enrolled at Blinn College in Texas after not attending school last year. He’s not currently on Texas’ radar. – (Andrew)

HORNSPORTS:
We’ll start as we have the last few weeks with the latest about what we know concerning the 2016 signees awaiting an LOI release from Baylor.
Devin Duvernay – We’ll start with the one player not bound by a letter of intent. Duvernay was in Austin this weekend visiting Texas, and our sources tell us things went extremely well for Texas. Our sources have said from the beginning that Texas would be extremely favorable for the Sachse speedster, and they voiced excitement over the visit this weekend. We were told that Texas pitched Duvernay on a role in the offense no one else can fill. Texas will also rely on the relationships Duvernay has with several players in the program. The most notable relationship is with quarterback Shane Buechele who tried to recruit Duvernay to Austin last year. TCU is going to be tough competition, but our sources in Austin believe Texas will land Duvernay, and our sources near him have said the same thing from the beginning. The biggest question will concern Devin’s brother Donovan and his pending release from Baylor. As we’ve told you from the beginning, Devin will not do anything until there is clarity on his brother’s situation.
Patrick Hudson – Sources are all over the map here as they were during his recruitment, and we’ve got a few storylines we are chasing for the big man. Reports from the Baylor 247 site indicate that Hudson is listening to the sales pitch of the new staff and is considering enrolling in Waco for the second summer session. We checked with some folks, and heard some similar things. One person told us that there are some scare tactics are in place possibly pushing Hudson in that direction. Other sources indicated that Hudson still has a connection with the existing staff, and he really sees Waco as a good fit coming from a small town. There were a couple of people that told us Hudson is still evaluating his options, and pushing for a release is still a very real option. At the end of the day we think if Hudson pushes for and is released from his LOI he will end up in Austin.
Parrish Cobb – There’s not much new information to report here. It’s a two team race at this point between Oklahoma and Texas, and sources are starting to feel more optimistic about the chances he lands in Austin.
+++++
I talked to some sources on two five star players Texas is after in this class.
Jeff Okudah – We were told that while Texas is hanging on in this recruitment, they have quite a hill to climb. “I’m not sure if Texas would make a top 5 if Jeff released it today”. Most people believe Ohio State is in the drivers seat here, and everyone we spoke with agreed with that assessment. One person told us that Stanford might be a strong competitor in this race due to the relationship Okudah has with Stanford defensive back coach Duane Akina. Most Texas fans are aware of Akina’s recruiting prowess, and the educational opportunities available in Palo Alto make that situation hard to beat. “Jeff didn’t grow up in Texas, so he didn’t grow up like most kids enamored with the Longhorns. The fact that the last few years have been a struggle is one thing, but they don’t have the proven horses recruiting like Mack’s staff had. Don’t get me wrong, Charlie’s staff has done some unbelievable things, but Akina is a machine, and he’s the reason Stanford is getting back into Texas with such frequency”. As we’ve seen, Charlie will continue to push for the five star defender, but Texas has a ton of work to do.
Baron Browning – We also spoke to sources regarding Browning, and while we were told that Texas is still very high on his list, Ohio State is making a big impression. Browning enjoyed his time in Columbus, and he’s going back with his parents to visit again. While I normally wouldn’t worry about out of state options at this point, I was told Okudah and Browning have strongly discussed playing together at the next level. We were told if Browning stayed in state it would likely be Texas, but UCLA and Ohio State will be a thorn in this recruitment.
+++++
Memphis (TN) Harding Academy offensive lineman Will Lawrence is one of the top players in the country for 2018. The offensive lineman holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Oklahoma, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Texas, Texas A&M, and USC among many others. He made the trip to Austin to compete at the Texas minicamp this past weekend and Will Baizer caught up with him to get the scoop on the visit.
Lawrence is the cousin of former Texas kicker Hunter Lawrence, and that seems to have Texas in the picture for one of the most heavily recruited players in his class. It sounds like the visit went really well for Lawrence and he enjoyed his time on campus. “It was really good, but I didn’t feel like it was my best day”. Lawrence spent some time talking with the coaching staff, and he told us they discussed the opportunities at Texas and technique as it relates to the offensive scheme. Lawrence told us he connected well with Matt Mattox, and was excited to meet him for the first time. “I really liked him. I thought he was a cool dude”, said Lawrence. “He’s just super laid back, and he says I can play tackle which means a lot to me”.
Lawrence told us that he really enjoyed the facilities and meeting with the coaching staff, and he’s still mulling over his offers. He hopes to make a decision by the end of this year, but he told us that no teams are really standing out to him at the moment. When decision time comes, we expect Texas to be in the thick of the race to win his commitment. Lawrence also told us he wants to try to visit again this summer. We will be on top of the story as it unfolds, so stay tuned for more on the Tennessee lineman.
+++++
Elkins linebacker Kenneth Murray is experiencing a whirlwind right now. In the last few months he went from a player on the verge of exploding to a player picking up big time offers from powerhouse programs. Murray was on campus Saturday for a visit before jetting down to College Station for their recruiting barbecue. We caught up with the versatile defender to get the latest on his recruitment. “It was great”, Murray told us. “I really enjoyed myself”. Murray told us he would rate both visits “about the same”, but he detailed the Texas visit and what he talked about with the coaching staff. “We talked about a lot of stuff. Mostly just life in general. I really enjoyed it, and I really enjoyed hanging out with Malik (Jefferson) and some of the guys. I just chilled with the coaches, and we laughed and joked around about things with them and my parents”.Murray said he spent an hour with Charlie Strong, and his parents enjoyed their time in Austin. We asked Murray if his parents were leaning one way or another in his recruitment and he told us they see everyone as equal right now. Murray should be back later in the summer for Under the Lights, and our sources tell us Texas is in a strong position to land him.
+++++
Lancaster (TX) wide receiver Omar Manning finally made it to Austin after re-scheduling visits during the spring. While we haven’t been able to connect with Manning, we did talk to some sources close to his recruitment. It was once thought that TCU was running away with this recruitment, but Texas has closed the gap in a hurry from what we were told. Sources there indicated the new coaching staff at Texas has some built in advantages in Lancaster. New defensive backs coach Clay Jennings has experience recruiting in south Dallas, and Sterlin Gilbert is close with members of the Lancaster staff. Texas is slowly emerging as a potential leader in the recruitment of Manning, and they are poised to go toe to toe with TCU during the fall.

A week after Yoakum (TX) defensive back Jordan Moore earned an offer he returned to Austin to take part in another minicamp. This time he worked out on the offensive side of the ball at wide receiver. Daniel Seahorn was on campus after the camp speaking with recruits, and he spent some time with Moore.
“It was a blessing to come down here and do great again”, Moore told us. While he plays both ways at his high school, we had Moore pegged as a defensive back all the way. The Texas staff sees Moore as an athlete with potential to play on both sides of the ball. “I plan on coming back and doing a visit. I’m going to let my body rest and then come back again in late July”. Moore spent some time with the coaching staff, but the majority of his time was spent with Charlie Strong. “I talked with Coach Strong, and the DB coach. Mainly Coach Strong, the DB coach was talking with the group. They like me a lot, and they told me not to test today because I put up good numbers last week”.
Moore hung out with Texas quarterback commit Sam Ehlinger, and he told us that Austin gives him a good feeling. “It just feels like home”, said Moore. It’s no secret that Texas is at the top of the list for the Yoakum twins, and Jordan told us his mom (who graduated from Texas) prefers her boys to be at her alma mater. Moore has a visit set up with LSU this Thursday, and he tells us he’ll take it day by day from there.

Huffman (TX) Hargrave offensive lineman Dennis Bardwell was a standout at the Texas camp on Sunday. We caught up with the offensive lineman following the camp to find out how everything went for him.
Bardwell spoke with Matt Mattox at the camp, and he described that conversation to us. “It was good”, Bardwell said. “It was mostly small talk about the trip and whatnot, and a little bit about football”. Bardwell told us that Mattox made it known to him an offer could be coming down the road. “He said they are checking out one guy, and if that doesn’t happen I’ll probably be the next one up”.
Bardwell also gave us his thoughts on the visit and his time on campus. “I loved the campus, and my sister comes here so that’s a bonus”. Bardwell told us that he feels Texas and Texas A&M were close to offering him, and that Houston was standing out among schools that offered him. Bardwell committed to Houston earlier today, but it certainly seems that Texas could get into this race if they choose to. While Texas isn’t pursuing a ton of linemen in this class, Bardwell could be one to watch down the stretch.

Tyrell Shavers committed to Bama.
Didn't see that coming.
Well, that one kind of sucks. I liked Shavers. However, I think Horns are sitting pretty good at WR (especially if they're able to grab Devin D this summer).

Watching the OL/DL clips and man Chuck Filiaga and Walker Little are some bad men. Whichever teams can gain their commitments will be very lucky.
So is Marvin on D. The guy tried very little fancy stuff, he just bullied people. He penetrated on everyone.
I like Little the best out of those two. The white LSU commit on OL is a beast. The Filiaga guy looks like he could get a lot better. Little looks like he still has room for muscle bulk. Those vids are cool for a short look. Now being able to keep the level high is a whole different story for all. I wonder if they do some drills to tire them before engaging in 1 v. 1

SIAP- Charlie Strong says he’s confident Erick Fowler will make the grades (Hookem.com)
HOUSTON — Texas coach Charlie Strong said he’s confident freshman linebacker Erick Fowler will make the academic scores he needs and will soon be cleared to join the team.
Fowler, a four-star prospect from Manor, did not move onto campus last week with other incoming recruits and is said to be waiting on a standardized test score.
Marcel Southall, a defensive tackle from Duncanville, also has some work to do academically.
“They’re still getting their work in and at some point they’ll make it to campus,” Strong said.
If available, Fowler would give Texas a skilled pass-rusher who is considered to be among the top youth players to ever come out of Austin (http://www.hookem.com/2016/03/07/longhorns-class-of-2016-they-said-it-manor-linebacker-erick-fowler/).
This comes one year after Texas had to cut ties with three signees who couldn’t make the grades: Floridians Devonaire Clarington (tight end) and Gilbert Johnson (receiver) and Houston’s Du’Vonta Lampkin (defensive tackle).

Good riddance.
If it's that public it has to get back to Strong I would hope.
This is my one strike rule. We offer and this is what you are...
We can't take on rehab patients, our program is way too shaky to deal with this crap and trying to play FB.

A few quotes from Nations #1 prospect DT Marvin Wilson (Orangebloods):
"Texas is just Texas, that’s the thing. Coming from the home state, I always loved Texas, grew up watching Colt McCoy and Vince Young, especially with Vince being another guy from Houston," Wilson said. "He was the number one player in his class, I’m the number one player in my class and I might go to Texas, so you never know."
"The fact that at Texas you can come play for your home state team and blow it up," Wilson said of UT's recruiting pitch. "It’s the same thing like Malik (Jefferson) did, staying in state, now I can come up there and do the same thing he did."
"That resonates with me. I talk to Malik when I go up there to visit. Me and him playing together, me handling it up front and him cleaning up my mess, that’s a great thing to chill out to him."
"I just want to see them win a decent amount of games. That’s all I want to see," Wilson said. "If they’re successful, I just want them to do well. I just want to see progress."
Upcoming visits: Wilson plans to visit Ohio State this week, Florida State the following week and Southern Cal after that. He recently visited Alabama, which made a strong impression.
Return trip to Austin in the works?: Wilson said he'll probably take a summer visit to Texas, possibly for the Longhorns Under the Lights camp in July.

if Baylor brings back Briles, then I'm hoping the rest of the Big 12 will vote to kick them out. I don't know if it is even possible, but this is unacceptable. The man facilitated the cover-up of several rapes and other abuses by his players. And they want to bring him back.

Elliott looking to prove himself now that he's enrolled at Texas (Howe).
http://texas.247sports.com/Bolt/Elliott-looking-to-prove-himself-now-that-hes-enrolled-at-Texas-45803342
While writing this Bolt I remembered thinking at this time last year what a blessing it would be for Texas if the Longhorns landed Elliott. You can't quantify what he and Brandon Jones meant to the 2016 and mean to the future of the Texas defense.
Elliott couldn't be blocked during the practices leading up to the U.S. Army game. He was better than what I remember Hassan Ridgeway being in a similar setting. If he's locked in and focused he's got the ability to take over a game, something the Longhorns need at defensive tackle in a bad way.
Also, put whatever stock you want into high school stats but here's Elliott's line in eight games as a senior:
30 tackles, 10 tackles for loss four sacks, three PBUs, one FF, one FR.
